RTC battery is low or CMOS incompatible chksum on a new Tecra M4?

Hello

I bought my Tecra M4 in November, making it relatively new.

Since then, I got the following message to the ignition on four occasions:

RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent *.
Press [F1] to set Date/time.

Why is it that happens on a new laptop? And with relatively long intervals (4-6 weeks)?

Is that what I can do to check for hardware errors?

I prefer not having to send to my computer right now (reviews of spring to come to the top and from one month summer session).

Any help/ideas are appreciated.

Kind regards
Thor

Hi Thor

As far as I know is not a hardware problem. Connect the camera to the power adapter and leave it for 20 to 24 hours.
I hope you use it very often and the battery can be charged at all times.

  • Satellite A40-211: RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent

    Hello

I bought a functioning Satellite A40 - 211 of one of my friends, who had a defective model A60 from where I took the fast hard drive, the memoryupgrade and the internal wifi card, but the only annoying on the A40-211 new thingie is the message that the RTC battery is low or CMOS is incompatible whenever the laptop is turned off and turned on again (which also happens when a warm reboot is done)

After checking the laptop for any other problem (there was none), I decided to replace the RTC battery with a new... about 17,-euros in total cost. (Of the disassemble the whole laptop, but it has more than once 100 or so with other models, takes 15 minutes to disassemble and put them all back again once)
Did charge it new CCF to power the laptop up and leave it for at least 24 hours... (the manual says to do)

No results... always the same... boring message.

I also tried to reflash the bios, but the version 1.50 seems ok and cannot be replaced by the programming software.

So, we have a good laptop to work here, but with an annoying message that cannot be solved?

    Anyone with a good tip?

OK, a response to myself, because I've been tracking something here...

I replaced the hard drive to another laptop (Satellite A60 series) to the A40-211... installing Windows could be transferred, since the IDE controllers are the same... then just install some other vga - and sounddrivers to operate...

But... somehow with the new hard drive and therefore installation, date/time settings are lost after a restart or power off...
I also discovered that the installation of 'old' will not go into sleep - or standbymode... it will only close...

Then. I'll make a recovery disk hard 'new' facility, because it is faster than the original that came with the A40.

I'll keep things updated here... also because this isn't a real solution to the question...

Now, the question is: what makes the time/date setting go lost after this laptop with a non-on-this-laptop-installed-OS off the power?

  • Satellite Pro A10: RTC battery is low or CMOS chesksum unstable

    I have a Satellite Pro A10.

When I turn everything first laptop computer on I get RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is unstable - press F1 to set date/time. When I press F1, I get a beep and it's everything that happens. I'm unable to had to set up or do anything at all with the installation program.

I kept it plugged in for 24 hours, but still the same results. I replaced the CMOS battery with a new. But even once, I get the exact same results.

All that happens when I press F1 and a sound signal. Is this a sign that I have probably a problem with the motherboard?

You can access the BIOS and could try to set the default settings, and then save the settings and start again.
If it doesn't, then it must be another reason for this message.

My first thought was that this error pops up because the BIOS battery is empty.
Usually such charge as described in your ad should help get rid of this message.
But it seems that there is a more serious problem

I m not quite sure what this could be, but the hypothesis that a motherboard could malfunction is not wrong.
I think that a fault of mobo might this causes too.

But in my opinion a mobile technician must check to make sure what's wrong.

  • Qosmio X 70-B-103 - RTC battery is low

So my laptop Qosmio X 70-B-103 on the last days have been stop, and it won't turn when I press the button.

So I proceeded to remove and replace the rtc battery and eventually it worked, but at the start of the laptop, on the blue color screen, it says "RTC battery is low"... So my questions are, the rtc battery closes down and should I buy a new one?
(I have the laptop for about 1 year)

    Thank you

In my opinion the RTC battery should not be traded but at full load. Leave your laptop on the power adapter and leave it for about 24 hours.

  • Satellite A45 - S121 RTC battery low or unstable CMOS

I have a Toshiba A45-S121 that I got from a friend who has left the country...
I keep going back to the same message over and over again and cannot activate it because it keeps doing again and again.

The message is: "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent, press F1 to reset the date and time." It would have been great if it was, that I should have done, but at this stage no button does nothing, and the only thing I can do is to restart... I looked on the net, and someone said to recharge, the main battery for 8 hrs, will do... NOT.

Another said to rest with charger for 15 h and have the laptop on at the same time... NO help there.
Another was told to change the battery Cmos... Did this... NO help.

I tried F12 thing... the computer is located in the startup Toshiba logo, and as soon as I press another key, it goes back to this message... I can't do the BIOS, and I can't run it from a CD, until I have this message.

    HELP PLEASE.

    Hanks a lot.

    > The message is: "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent, press F1 to reset the date and time." It would have been great if it was, that I should have done, but at this stage no button does nothing, and the only thing I can do is to restart

Usually this or similar message appears if the battery CMOS/RTC would be empty.
In this case, you should be able to solve this problem of the RTC battery.
    How to recharge?
The laptop must be turned on and connected to the power supply for approximately 24 hours.

But I see you've also already replaced the RTC battery and this message still appears.
In addition it seems that you are not able to access the BIOS to change the date/time settings.
Well, this would mean that there is a serious problem on the motherboard

I think that only a laptop computer technician would be able to help you.

    Hi guys,.

I need urgent help. I have a laptop, Toshiba Satellite A40-S161, which gives me the following error whenever I restart the machine "RTC battery is low or CMOS checksum is inconsistent."

I took the laptop to my local dealers who replaced the CMOS battery and advised me to leave the machine 'fees' for 6 hours [what I did], and the problem persists. Is there advice that I could follow to remedy the situation?

    Hello

AFAIK in user? manuals it s nice instruction how to deal with it. If I am memory while the unit must be turned on, connected to the power supply current minimum 8 hours.

    Hi Liam

Hmmm... I think it s not a Council but the battery of the CCF.
Take a look in the user manual. There you should find something that exactly the message is displayed if the battery RTC (BIOS) is not charged.

The RTC battery, you must connect the power adapter and should run the laptop for about 24 hours.
After that the main battery has been charged, then the RTC battery starts to load.

It will take a little longer.

  • RTC battery low - where is battery CMOS? C50 - B - 14 D

I also get a message at startup and strangely in Windows, low battery RTC. The laptop will simply shut down.

I suppose there is a fault or battery CMOS is actually dead. I removed the bottom to expose the jury and watched various tear downs, but still cannot locate the battery. I removed the main Board and the CMOS battery isn't here. Is there one on these units?

It is a fairly new laptop and otherwise in good condition.

    Any help appreciated.

Some models do not have an RTC battery, they rely on the main battery to keep the time.

  • Portege M750 - replacing the CMOS (RTC) battery

    Hello world

I have a Portege M750 model PPM75A-007010 and I need to change the CMOS (RTC) battery.

If someone can share with me
    -where to find this battery
-is normal around the battery and if you can tell me the number of battery?
    - or where I can buy this battery and price range?

    Thank you
    RC.

    Hello

Normally, the RTC battery in these models are rechargeable.
If not already done, please leave the unit on for the night (not disable, not extended, not sleep - but ON) and see if the problem is resolved.

I think the accusation-description/also the RTC battery is mentioned in your user manual.

  • CMOS / RTC battery for Satellite A100-326?

    Hello

    I'm after a CMOS/RTC battery replacement for my A100-326

I had my machine open and find the battery, but there is no model number on it.

I contacted Toshiba support center and they told me that the battery is part of the Board of Directors and management as a whole needs to be replaced. However, if I can find the reference to the battery, I have a friend in a computer store that will replace it with a new one.

Any help would be great. Thank you!

    Hello

Why you want to replace it
    This battery is accessible
The RTC battery, you need to connect the AC adapter to the laptop.
The main battery must be inserted too and the laptop should work during hours 20.24.

In any case, as far as I know it s an Ion of Lithium battery 3V and 14mAh RTC

  • Satellite C855 - low RTC battery

Bought a brand new Satellite C855 7 months, now get a RTC battery low warning, every time I start, have to reset the date and time. The laptop battery says fully charged, but if I unplug the portable charger will turn off.

    > The laptop battery says fully charged, but if I unplug the portable charger will turn off.

This means that the main battery is empty and is probably damaged.
Empty main battery would affect the RTC battery too. So I think that you need to replace the main battery first and then the RTC battery for a longer period of time while the mobile computer is turned on.

The laptop seems to be covered by the warranty (if its 7 months) so the battery must be replaced in warranty conditions.

  • Satellite C50-B-19V - RTC battery low

    Hi all

    I ask your help.

    I have 15-inch Toshiba Satellite C50-B-19V laptop.
    It is 2 years old.

I get RTC battery low message the laptop turned OFF for awhile (without adapter).
When I turn it on, I have to re - set the Date and time in the BIOS.

So I fully recharge via an adapter, and every time I put it to sleep the clock stops just when I put on standby.
So if I put for example standby at 10:00 on March 2, 2016, and I turn it on at 12:00 on March 2, 2016, the clock says 10:00 and March 2, 2016 (the date is not lost).

Laptop works well when on battery (without adapter).
I have WIN 8 is installed.

RTC battery low message is displayed after the laptop is off (no adapter) for a while... (a few days).

Above mentioned laptop is NOT a pile of separate clock when back cover is removed (no battery is visible on the motherboard)...

What to do in this case?

    Waiting for your response.
    Thank you very much!
    Ivan

I would say that the RTC is low and that maybe it's the other side of the motherboard. Find and download the manual for your machine. All PCs have batteries for the CCF and to keep some of the BIOS settings. If it is not under an agreement of service of any kind, take it to a technician, you trust and let check. Otherwise repair by the company with which you have permission. The battery will be there somewhere. They can be painted, I saw that with some motherboards desktop.

    Hello

What s wrong with the RTC battery? Is it empty?
The RTC battery can be charged by the adapter or the main battery while the computer is on. You must charge the battery 24 hours long.

In addition, it seems that the A200 series uses the 3.0V (14mAH 17maH) RTC battery
I found some that support these values.

    Battery RTC (Maxell ML1220T10)
    Battery RTC (Maxell ML1220HT10)
    Battery RTC (Sanyo ML1220T28)
Panasonic ML1220/B of the RTC battery

But to be honest, it could damage the whole motherboard while trying to remove these batteries as mentioned in other threads his welded so I might be really complicated

  • Satellite P100-423 - RTC battery replacement

I'm happy enough to replace the CMOS / RTC on Satellite P100-423 battery because the device is out of warranty and the battery needs to be replaced.
Le-423 is a build of Costco and not much found after the mandatory, manual Google and research forum.

Can anyone recommend a type satisfying to do this, no clue on the former.

    Thank you

    Hey,.

Are you sure that the RTC battery is replaceable?
I ask this question because as much as I know it is not possible on all s models and if it is replaceable you can find the specs on the battery itself if you disassemble the laptop.

Normally, this battery can be charged if you leave the AC/DC adapter plugged in for 24 hours. Have you already tried?

  • Portege R100: RTC battery replacement

Problem: On my computer laptop Portege R100 the RTC battery needs to be replaced (laptop loses date and time system start-up after having done automatically stop when the batteries were empty).

Question: I am trying to figure if this RTC battery is easily replaceable, i.e. I can order it from my dealer and can their technician quickly/easily replace the battery or is this battery soldered to the motherboard and replacement has so to do by Toshiba technicians, which means that my laptop will be gone for a few weeks?

Thanks a lot for any input.

    Hello

As I know the RTC battery is not soldered on the card mother but only connected with the cable. To remove the CMOS battery, you have to disconnect the cable from battery RTC PJ8760 on the system board and remove the battery from the RTC to the RTC battery.

All that s. But if you have no experience in these things you shouldn't t replace yourself. The safe option is to contact the Toshiba service partner to change the battery. Here, you can also order one compatible
