Satellite Pro A200 - 1 MI: Why Vista see only 3070MB Ram

Hi guys, another problem of RAM...

I have improved my A200 - 1 MI to 2xGB RAM kingston 667 Hz (2 x 1024 667 Mhz) settings BIOS and Toshiba are OK, they accept 4096 MB of RAM, but Vista (32, business) does claim that 3070 MB! What's wrong? Why does not my vista accept, left, about 1 GB of RAM?

In addition :) Vista poster performance index the same result after upgrade... help please

Maybe this doc from Toshiba will help you;

+ Why my laptop recognizes only about 3 GB instead off the coast of all 4 GB of memory, I installed? +
http://support.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB7601WE0007R01.htm

Always is that the Windows OS may not recognize all of the 4 GB of memory due to the limitation of the 32 bit OS.

Just FYI;
Some people have suggested that after the installation of the 4 GB Vista SP1 are listed in system properties.
Currently, only the beta version of SP1 was released. The final version should be relsed in the next two weeks.

I have a Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7E) with Windows Vista and XP that have been installed recently.
In the driver of Toshiba page (BIOS update) says:

"This Bios is only compatible for portable computers with Windows Vista!"

    (1) should I update my BIOS (1.4) or it'll be a problem for my windows XP?

    (2) anyone has try?

    (3) is there documentation on the BIOS updates (bug fixes, etc.)?

    Hello

I will try to be very short with answers:
    1. If you use Windows XP Home edition on your laptop have BIOS update with the version 5.30
2 this version of BIOS is available for days and it is possible that many people already tried. By the way: until Toshiba out something that is tested and verified.
    3. Unfortunately there is documentation about bugs and patches, but the fact is that Toshiba has designed the 5.30 version to support the features of Windows XP Home edition on the models of laptops designed Vista

    Hello

The Satellite A200 is a notebook of new generation that supports a SATA HDD controller.
In my opinion, you can use a larger SATA 2.5 HARD drive like 200 or 250 GB.

This occurs in the sidebar or the upper windows.

    Hello

Looks more like a graphics card problem
You said it happens is that this means that if you start the laptop everything displays correctly and after awhile of use of this problem appears?

Perhaps a higher internal temperature affects the graphics chip and this is why this display problem appears.

Just a question; Have you tried to update the graphics driver?
    You should do this certainly

But if the question will always be, the chances are high that a hardware malfunction causing this display problem.

  • Satellite Pro A200: XP + Vista possible installed dual boot?

    Hello

I don't know if I'm here the XP OS but I post because it is OS related.

My Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7) works well with XP but I want to create a sandbox (partition) for/with Vista.

Basically, I know that it is possible to run XP and Vista on a system. * Goal *, computers laptops satellite Pro A200 are delivered with a BIOS for XP and Vista, and with the information you need to install the right pair. For me, this means that you will install the BIOS for XP when running BIOS for Vista and XP in Vista.

    Question:
Is it possible to install Vista on a Satellite Pro A200 with XP as main OS and have installed XP BIOS?
Boot loader would be Acronis OSS like this charger already managing my two XP partitions.

Thank you very much for any information!

    Best regards
    Andreas

    Hello

In my opinion there is no serious reason, why you should t be able to use Xp and Vista on your Satellite Pro A200.

Okay, there's a different BIOS for Vista 64-bit, 32-bit and Win XP, but your Vista should also work using the BIOS for Win XP.

I have other laptops Satellite series and I m able to use XP and Vista at the same time. I mean I have a choice to start Vista or XP ;) and I m still using the old version of the BIOS.
OK some functions are not available as FN keys, but this is not very important for me.

Well, to cut this story, I think you can use Vista and XP without changing the BIOS ;)

  • Satellite Pro A200: How to create Dual boot; Vista & XP using the recovery CD

I just bought a laptop Satellite Pro A200, which was supplied with the product for Vista and XP Recovery discs.
The license specifically Vista also XP licenses.
Can I set up a dual boot so that I can boot to Vista or XP? If so, how?

I would also like a third boot, Red Hat Linux 9.
    Any comments?

Hmmm. Usually it s possible to use two or more operating systems on the computer, but as far as I know the Toshiba Vista recovery CD formats whole disk when installing Vista and this will lead to the loss of the OS installed.
I m not 100% sure on the recovery of the newest XP CD called RECON doesn t CD include an expert mode which allows to choose between the different partitions.

So I guess that each use the recovery CD will format the HARD drive and erase the installed data. But of course, you can try to install the two BONES and to check if the restore XP CD allows to choose the second part of the installation of the OS.

If it does not, it seems that you will need to an original XP from Microsoft CD or the original CD of Vista to use the two BONES.

  • Seeing white on Satellite Pro A200

The screen of my computer (Satellite Pro A200 - PSAE7) became white and will not normalize. This happens as soon as the boot. However, other processes are underway normally. Currently, I have to rely on an external monitor or LCD projector to allow me to continue my work.

What could be wrong and what can do?

    Hey,.

    > Currently I have to rely on an external monitor or LCD projector to allow me to continue my work.
This means that an external monitor works properly, no?

Well, there are two possible reasons: either the internal LCD screen is defective or LCD cable but the graphics card and the software are ok if everything works on an external monitor.

You see a picture if you move the internal screen a little? So, you can check if there is a bad connection. If you are familiar with the disassembly of the laptop, you can open Notepad and check the connection also.

An alternative you can also ask a maintainer approved assistance. Disassembly of the laptop is not a problem for guys so just get in contact with them. ;)

  • Satellite Pro A200-16N: can I use the recovery CD after upgrade to Vista

    HII!

IM thinking of upgrading to windows vista on my Satellite Pro A200-16N and I ran the pre-upgrade of windows vista from microsoft website and it says that my system will be in charge of windows vista so im ok about it.

The problem is that if my laptop was to break or something like that at some point, will my recovery CD provided by toshiba to work always on the laptop with windows vista?
They will return the laptop for windows xp or from my laptop has another operating system they will not work?

    Also...
    What's the deal with BIOS? : S
    I don't understand!
If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
As I download the new drivers before upgrading Yes?

    Thank you!

The restore CD will of course work.
The recovery CD will always set the laptop back to the factory settings. This means that the whole HARD drive will be formatted and the image of Toshiba will be installed.

    > What's the deal with BIOS? I put t understand!
    > If I were to upgrade to windows vista should I upgrade my BIOS before or after the upgrade to vista?
To my knowledge, that this laptop was already shipped with Vista, so you need not update the BIOS if you want to reinstall Vista.

Some series Satellite A200 needs a BIOS update if you want to use the XP.
In such cases, it s advisable to upgrade the BIOS to version XP first, then install OS X.

    Best regards

  • Satellite Pro A200 how to get a Vista 64 bit of Toshiba Recovery disk

I have a portable satellite Pro A200 computer and I would like to install Vista 64-bit.
As I read it, you can use the 32-bit key to install the 62-bit version. Is there a way to get the "product recovery disc" in a 64-bit version.

    Or download it from somewhere

    Hello

What OS came preinstalled on your laptop?
If it's a 32 bit Vista OS, then you can only get a 32-bit Vista Toshiba recovery CD.

If you want to install another OS, no matter if it of XP or Vista 64-bit, you must purchase the operating system of Microsoft.

PS: as far as I know the key to series used for Vista 32 bit OS is only an OEM key and it does not work with other operating systems!

  • Satellite Pro A200 - Fn keys does not work with Windows Vista

    Hello

I own a Satellite Pro A200-PSAE7E and a license to retail for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition (with SP1) is installed.

Before installing Vista, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version available on the Toshiba site ([http://it.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/vista_drivers.jsp?service=IT]).
BIOS version is now 2.20 - WIN32 contained in this file: [http://support.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/bios-20080404121735.zip]

After the installation of the operating system, I installed "Value package" ([http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-files2/0/vap-20080109135106.zip]) that contains the "utility Flash Cards". In my understanding, the installation of the "value added package" should allow the use of Fn keys.
This doesn't seem to be true or not true.

    Here's what's happening.

-Prior to installation of the 'value-added' package, all Fn keys did not work.
-After installation of the "value added package", if the process of TCrdMain.exe is running, all Fn keys do not work.
-If I remove the startup TCrdMain.exe and I restart the PC, only a few keys Fn function (Fn + ESC, Fn + F1).

There is no way (or I have not found a way) for all keys Fn works.

Someone knows how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance,

    mme000

I am not sure, but it may be because of the SP1. I installed Vista Ultimate on A200 and stuff all listed (drivers, tools and utilities) from Toshiba support page.

Contains your Vista DVD facilities SP1 or you install on your own? If you install Vista Ultimate Edition (without SP1) and all the stuff on the Toshiba support site order Instructions of facilities.

  • Satellite Pro A200: Card reader does not work after installing XP

    Hello...

I deleted Windows Vista from my Satellite Pro A200 for XP Home.
I'm much happier with the machine now, but I am unable to get any response from the card reader. There is no mention in the manual supplied with the machine.
I cannot find any reference to it in the Control Panel hardware Manager and nothing changes here in it when I insert a SD memory card.

I had no cause to try the drive before removing Vista, so I don't know if it never worked... Although I guess he did.
A search of a pilot running in the download section had no success, and this forum has no direct answers.

Does anyone have an idea what I have to do to make this work?

    Mintin Popa.

    Hello

I put t see serious reasons why your card reader shouldn't run with installed Windows XP t/function.
What you need is the right driver.

The Toshiba driver page provides all the drivers Win XP and there is also an XP driver for the multi card reader.

You need a Texas Instruments Flash Media Driver. He is a driver for your bridge Media Slot.
This slot allows you to insert an SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture cards.

    See you soon
