Satellite Pro A200 - question on the BIOS update

I have a Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE7E) with Windows Vista and XP that have been installed recently.
In the driver of Toshiba page (BIOS update) says:

"This Bios is only compatible for portable computers with Windows Vista!"

(1) should I update my BIOS (1.4) or it'll be a problem for my windows XP?

(2) anyone has try?

(3) is there documentation on the BIOS updates (bug fixes, etc.)?

Hello

I will try to be very short with answers:
1. If you use Windows XP Home edition on your laptop have BIOS update with the version 5.30
2 this version of BIOS is available for days and it is possible that many people already tried. By the way: until Toshiba out something that is tested and verified.
3. Unfortunately there is documentation about bugs and patches, but the fact is that Toshiba has designed the 5.30 version to support the features of Windows XP Home edition on the models of laptops designed Vista

Good bye

    Hello

You must include the SATA drivers.
The SATA drivers are part of the Intel Matrix Storage Manager, which can be downloaded from the Intel and Toshiba page page.

    Hello

I would not recommend to download and install the BIOS on Toshiba Canada website!
As far as I know your laptop was designed for the European market and you should always use the driver, BIOS of the Toshiba site European and tools!

But I agree with dnf666. If the laptop works properly it s not necessary to update the BIOS!
And note: the bad BIOS or bad BIOS can damage the module ROM!

  • Satellite M40 - question on the BIOS update

I need to update my BIOS to be able to use a new stick of ram to 2 GB. Unfortunately I can't find an update of the specific BIOS on Toshiba website for the 265 M40, WXP with ATI graphics card.
    Which one should I install? M70, M100, 3.00, or 1.70, psm01, psm02...?

    Thank you

Satellite M40 can grow up to 2 GB of RAM, and to do that you need BIOS update memory vivid but compatible modules.

What 2 GB module you want to use?

  • Satellite A200 PSAE3E: what the Bios update changes

Someone can't tell me what efect will be a ubdate Bios on my laptop.
This update can not damage the laptop?

    This update is a risk?
P.S.: I use Windows Xp SP2, Vista not.

    Thank you

    Hello

The update of the BIOS is only risky If you would use incompatible BIOS or use a wrong update procedure.

If you have installed XP on your computer A200 laptop then a BIOS upgrade to the XP version would be desirable because of one of the main reasons.
Without the version of BIOS XP your FN buttons will not work.

So if you want to use the FN keys, the update of the BIOS XP is not necessary.
But if you want to use the FN keys, you will need to update the BIOS to the XP version.

  • Questions after the BIOS updates and driver - place 11 pro

    Hi all

I am owner of a place of reference dell 11 7140 model 10 64-bit windows running and about 5 days ago I installed the latest drivers and the latest version of the BIOS using the automatic detection of the dell support page www.dell.com/.../drivers printer driver

Since then, I met the two following questions:

1: the automatic detection of the dell driver no longer works

2: the system does not detect when a headset is connected, the audio always comes out the speakers Tablet - I reinstalled the latest drivers, but made no difference

I wonder if anyone else has experienced those problems and what measures have you taken to solve problems.

    Thank you

I managed to solve the problem with the audio: it was caused by an incorrect realtek driver installatiion, for some reason any 'Realtek Audio Manager' was not loaded when you start and that's why the system doesn't detect the status of the audio input jack.

Always have the question of the automatic recognition of the driver, but at least I have a tablet of new work!

    Hello

Firstly I have to say if you don t have any problems with your computer forget this update. BIOS update is required only if you really have problems, otherwise I don't such updated risky.

Anyway, if you download the update of the BIOS, you will need to extract all files of archive zip first before start you. Also, make sure that you are logged on as administrator.

I am no newbie: with these laptops, this is the first and only 2 has no BIOS updates, more than 100 + modernization successful in my career!

    Cell phone 1:
    a. BIOS 1.60
    b. upgrading to Windows * XP * to 5.50 _For Windows XP_
    c. programme stop the PC from the start, with a progress remains empty bar!
    d. first boot in the BIOS showing version 5.50 (!), but then: dead (black screen)
    e. taken for an ASP.
    f. after 15 minutes and for as little as 35 it has been resolved, and BIOS updated to 2.00

    f. first boot in the BIOS showing version 5.50 (!), but then: dead (black screen) (as 1 laptop)
    g. tried every combination of secret keys, CD, USB, floppy drive, but nothing could do the trick to force a BIOS loading, as the ASP was indeed able to do with my laptop 1!
    h. read 'notuagain' contribution to the forum thread [here | http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=47887&tstart=0], and it worked.
    i. but now, the laptop still has BIOS 1.60

    Hello

Here you can find the traditional versions of updated BIOS for this laptop model:

    http://rapidshare.com/files/415039409/BIOS-5.5-psl4be-XP.zip.html

So you can update the BIOS using a USB bootable or external USB FDD drive.

  • Satellite Pro A200 (PSAE4E) - location of BIOS chip

The location of the chip of the BIOS on this Toshiba or anyone have a picture of something similar, so I know what I'm looking for? I took the motherboard and despite a sticker that says U52 ILHAM V1.20 BIOS, AAB4, I can't find t he (assuming that U52 refers to the number of chips).

Cell death after a BIOS update failure so investigate on get another reprogrammed if I can find where the chip is.

I didn't really update the BIOS - I run the util Toshiba BIOS to see what version I had installed (I think that all other util of BIOS I used allows to see this info before I do anything)-Fr. lists v5.6 for XP but v2.6 for Vista (have not heard before different BIOS for different OS. The Toshiba util went straight into programming - no info, no warning.

Not worth the cost of replacing the mobo and respectful of the environment, I would rather at least try the replacement of the chip (perhaps if someone from Toshiba is reading this and they would prefer that the environment, better try that by far the mandrel, then they might feel inclined to let me know where it is!)

    Any info gratefully received.

    See you soon

    Rob

    Hi Rob,

First of the BIOS chip is always located on the motherboard, but it s not so easy it reflash with another image. It is possible people allowed because it's not easy. In the worst case, you could destroy your motherboard together!

I m no owner A200 and I never turn off laptops because it's pretty tricky. In this case contact the ASP for help. I recommend to you! The guy can really help you.

  • Satellite Pro M70: Question on the port on the left hand side

Another question regarding the Pro M70 PSM75E, next to the hard drive (left side) there is a port which you can take off. I took it of and it looks like a chip grafx or something: s someone with the M70 not what it is.

    Thanks again

    Hello

Well, there are of many Satellite Pro M70. It s a great series.
But for example Satellite Pro M70-110 has a PCMCIA Type II slot.
You can use the different PCMICA card in this slot. But they must be compatible.
I guess this slot machine, you found a plastic Board. This is only for security.

However, if you want to learn more about your device, I would recommend reading the user manual which must be preinstalled on your laptop. You will find very, very, very ;) useful information.

    Hello!

I put t know what Satellite phone you have exactly, but you must download and install all updates that says TEMRPO.
To be honest I would only update the BIOS if it s necessary or leave if I have I have problems with the computer.

Normally, you will find a description on the site of Toshiba on new updates to the BIOS but it is possible that there are none available.
