  Recently I thought it would be better to download the latest drivers and upgrades for my Satellite pro L40 to keep up-to-date and partners the laptop that works smoothly.   In any case, I just want to write my comment. Don t be worried about photos and other important data. You can remove the laptop HARD drive, put it in a small box of HDD SATA 2.5 and connect the HARD drive to the other PC / laptop as external device. You will have full access to all stored data. So you can do the backup.

  What is your FSB?
  If the laptop was equipped with memory PC2-5300 modules then they could run at 667 MHz, but only if the FSB would supports 667 MHz! I think is supported by the FSB of 533 Mhz.
  So I can't say it s nothing wrong!

  Why do you think a BIOS update would turn the memory settings in the BIOS?
  Please don t mix of desktop computers laptops! Laptops cannot be overclocked.
  BIOS of laptop computers is not the same thing as a desktop PC BIOS!

  You can set the default BIOS ONLY inside the BIOS access BIOS by pressing F2 or at the beginning of the initialization of the order

  But I doubt that this problem is related to the BIOS.
  Maybe it s just a simple bad luck that this problem happened exactly after change something in the BIOS.

  Try connecting an external monitor and check if you can see something on the 2nd screen.

  I've been running the system on the current for a while now.
  I decided to remove the battery to avoid damage.
  Last night, I accidentally pulled the addapter at the back of the laptop. Since then; the machine won't start.

  I noticed that the HARD drive was not making the usual noises. Then I realized was not the CPU fan is spinning.
  Nothing appears on the screen, not even the start menu.

  The only things that do not seem to work are the DVD player & power light!
  I had the back of the machine off; I didn't see any obvious reason for the problem.

  I'm looking for a second opinion on what is happening with it, and if it can be fixed without having to buy a new motherboard.

  Hmm. possibly, there is nothing wrong with your motherboard.
  Try this common workaround that has helped me in such cases.

  Remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter. Leave the laptop for about 30 min and after this short break, put the battery in the laptop and connects to the AC adapter.

  This short procedure helped me to sort a similar g and strange question.
