Satellite Pro C660-2DJ - Windows 10 Upgrade and lack of Chicony Driver

Well, Toshiba said the Satellite Pro C660 2DJ is not able to upgrade Windows 10. This time I found statement opposite on other sites and installed it. I'm happy enough, because I use it. Ah there is always a but... the Chicony USB 2 Laptop camera is registered as a device, but with (!) in yellow showing no driver. I found a driver for this device, but under Windows 7 64-bit.

It would be very risky to install an old original driver now that Windows 10 is fine? As a rider to this, I know now there are thousands of people who were sure that their machines would be upgraded to Windows 10 and they are desperate because very little work. Thoughts, anyone?

Win8 Toshiba does not offer driver webcam more as the operating system uses standard Windows driver.
I did not pass my S50 - B Satellite so I do not know if I have an identical problem on my machine.

I'm really interested if another user of the forum has the solution for this.

I went on Skype to talk and I found that it could not detect a webcam, and the other person couldn't hear my voice. I checked Device Manager and no imagery or recording device has been found.
The camera and microphone are integrated. They have worked before.

There is another problem that may be related. When I got the laptop, when I pressed the fn key, a bar at the top of the pop up screen would be who showed me what did all the various f keys. It no longer appears.

Also, when I got the laptop, if I plug headphones or an external mic into the line out Sockets, a pop-up message would be. In this case no longer, and the laptop is not receiving any input headphones I plug into it.

I tried to reinstall the drivers of webcam, but in vain. According to Device Manager there is no. If this were the only problem, so I can put down to damage, but other problems give me a feeling it has something to do with a kind of software can I have accidentally disabled or deleted, which exercises control over the webcam/mic and the line output, which also produces pieces of UI such as the fn key.

I can't identify a moment when it stopped working I barely noticed the webcam and the microphone does not work as I them haven't used for a while. I noticed, however, how pressing the "fn" key is no longer shows the respective information on the screen.

The menu of the FN button that appears just by pressing the FN key combination is controlled by the Support of Flash memory card utility.
Try restarting this software located in all programs > Toshiba-> Flash Cards

If this does not work, reinstall the Support of Flash memory card utility.

It seems that the laptop supports the Realtek audio chip. That is why the Realtek HD audio Manager must be preinstalled and placed in the Panel.
Go to the dashboard-> Realtek HD audio manager
In the upper right corner, there is a small yellow folder called "Connector settings" in my version.
There, finally I could re-enable the setting "enable popup dialog box, when the unit is plugged.

I m not sure about the question of the webcam... perhaps that the system is confusing the Skype upwards and face recognition software uses the same cam then perhaps you should uninstall the software for the webcam, Skype and a face recognition software and must restart the laptop. After the software installation of webcam, facing new to Skype and recognition software.

  • Satellite Pro A100: Question about RAM upgrade and warranty

I just bought my machine and Ive decided to install some more ram. No one knows if it will affect my Gurentee. I can't find anything on the Web site on this topic. Should I get a Toshiba to install official repairman or something?
    Thank you

    Hello

Please check you user manual. Usually, the slot memory must be placed at the bottom of the unit. If you remove the cover, you should see the slots.
Usually memory upgrade procedure is described in the user manual so you can upgrade the memory yourself and the procedure of upgrading doesn t affect your warranty.
But please make sure you use the right modules.
However, you can also contact Toshiba for the upgrade of memory.

  • Satellite Pro L300 - how Windows easy transfer on the new HARD drive?

    Hello

I recently got a broken hard drive of a laptop larger than mine.

I would like to put in my computer, but I don't know what would be the way to transfer the partition of installation (or better yet also already installed windows partition).

Will I be able to reinstall linux in a few minutes, but for windows it's something else.
Do you have an idea of the procedure?

The best would be to make a mirror copy, or something like that for me, to have just to extend the size of some partitions.

    Thank you.
    Stone

    Hello

I recommend the creation of an image.
You can create either an image that contains only the content of a partition or the whole HARD disk content.

There are different image on the market tools. For the most part, you will pay for this software.
But you can also use an internal utility for Microsoft Windows 7. Its share of the Win 7 system.

If you are using Windows 7, I recommend this solution.

Here's a nice page of Microsoft on this tool and how to do it:

  • I just have to install a new hard drive and Vista on my Toshiba Satellite pro computer laptop I gave up and damage the hard drive.

I can't set up a broadband connection using the cable or wireless such that it does not recognize either. Also, the font is huge and I can't find anywhere to reduce only expand. I also have to install a Toshiba installation disc?

If the installation disc includes the drivers for your motherboard, display and Wi - Fi then yes do you.

You can also find drivers as follows. Go to the Toshiba support website and search for Windows Vista drivers for your specific model number.

    Toshiba support: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

If there are Windows Vista drivers can download to a folder on your hard drive and install all of them, starting with the card mother/chipset, SATA, USB drivers, Audio, LAN, Etc., and so on.

  • Satellite Pro C660-1LR - new HARD drive but no recovery disk

I need help for my son who is the Satellite Pro C660 1LR laptop.

In this portable hard drive is completely dead, I have not created a disk of recovery for this system of portable computers.
I bought a new hard drive that is installed... However, as you guessed it I have no access to reinstall an OS, this laptop works on windows 7.

I'm not really tech savvy so if someone can advise me please do explain to the fool proof format! I try to avoid having to buy something expensive.

    > I'm trying to avoid having to buy something expensive.
Problem is that you don't have many options in this regard.
If you want to have the factory again settings you must install recovery disc. You can order on https://backupmedia.toshiba.eu/landing.aspx of course is not free, but, in my opinion, without a doubt the best solution.

You can buy the Microsoft installation disc and install the clean version. You must purchase a valid license for it.
In this case, you must install all the necessary drivers, tools and utilities for more than one by one.

Just in case you can get this installation of Microsoft and the free license you can save money.

Believe me, the best solution is the original recovery disk command.

  • Change Win7 64-bit to 32-bit on the Satellite Pro C660-16N

    Hello.

    >... Satellite Pro C660-16N - Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium pre-installed...

Nobody knows what the best route is change Win7 64 bit for Win7 32 bit. This model has a 32-bit install on HARD drive recovery option?

Or he will have to do a clean install of Win7 32 bit DVD.

    Thank you very much.

I guess that this laptop is available with 64-bit only (specification) and there is only one way to install the version OS 32-bit, you must install it using original Microsoft Win7 32 bit installation disc.
Please note: for the activation of the operating system, you can use the product key from the sticker. You must purchase a new license for your own installation.

By the way: also check if this laptop model is supported for 32-bit version. You can do this on Toshiba support and download page under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com

If you have any other questions you are welcome.

  • Satellite Pro C660 graphic needs driver upgrade for Adobe Lightroom 6

I tested 5 Lightroom on my Satellite Pro C660 and it worked fine.

I decided to do it, and that week Lightroom 6 came out, so I bought Lightroom 6.

LR6 gets to the start screen, then stops and closes the Windows7.
I contacted Adobe and they went on my machine and identified the problem as being the graphics card and says I need an update of the driver.

I've been on the Toshiba site and it says that the latest driver is 8.15.10.2189, which is the one I currently have (and was changed in 2012).

I've been on the Intel site and their obtrusive says that the machine has a pilot custom then contact Toshiba.
I looked around the Intel site and tried to install that seem to be plausible drivers, but have not found one that would install.

My installation includes a monitor LG 22 "connected to the laptop with the spread of the desktop on both screens (laptop and monitor).

No one knows what would be the upgrade of the driver I need or how can I know?

    James

The page Intel graphics driver can be used, and you can also download the driver directly from the page.

This CPU does support your laptop?
What Intel GPU (Intel HD graphics chipset *) is the support of laptop?

The Intel download page provides a driver Intel as an exe or zip package
    https://Downloadcenter.Intel.com/

You need to download and unpack the zip package.
You will then be able to update the driver in Device Manager, choose the Advanced installation update procedure.

I assume that you are missing the driver SATA.

BTW: create recovery DVDs before you begin to install own OS.

  • Satellite Pro C660 - possible upgrade to 8 GB of RAM?

    Hello

I recently bought a PSC0MA Satellite Pro C660-01K00V from a seller online with guarantee all covered. He came like a usual model would come like but with 6 GB of RAM. I thought it was a great buy so I bought it.

After it happened, I looked at the specs on the website and it said that the max is 4 GB of RAM. I don't know what happened. The memory in the machine is 1 x 4 GB Kingston 1 x Samsung (original).

Could you tell me what it is and if I can probably not even 8 GB hold?

    Hi foolman555,

Why you n t according to the official specs?

Satellite Pro C660 has Intel GL40 Express Chipset and the chipset is limited to 4 GB of RAM. This means that your laptop supports only 4 GB of RAM and no more.

But usually 4 GB is enough for most applications, and I don't see a reason why a 6 GB upgrade would be so important ;)

  • Satellite Pro C660-1JL - how to change the language of Windows 7?

    Hello

I bought Toshiba preinstalled official Windows 7 Professional 64 service Pack 1. And I would like to change the language from German to the Russia.
In accordance with the instructions of the microsoft home page I could not get the result. MUI Pack does not appear when you are looking for Windows updated (some other updates are available only, but not language pack)...

What would you recommend how to fix this?
    Its Satellite Pro C660-1JL

    Hey,.

    > I bought Toshiba preinstalled official Windows 7 Professional 64 service Pack 1
You can change the language on Windows 7 Professional t, this is possible on Windows 7 Enterprise (volume license) and Windows 7 Ultimate edition.

So if you want another language, buy Windows 7 Ultimate or be happy with the current language of Windows 7 Professional. ;)

  • Satellite Pro C660 - on and off the problem with Touchpad

    Hey guys,.

I had one on and out of the question with my touchpad at least a few months now. I tried to do the function + F9 thing with little effect. Also, I re-uploaded the synaptics driver, which seems to make it work for a little while but then it started working sporadically.

Currently my touchpad works from time to time, if it fails on the first pressing Ctrl Alt Del and then Esc seems to do the job for a little long but after that it just stops working. I am a student and not having is not a fully functional laptop is often a major obstacle if any help would be great.

    Best,

    gleeful199

    Hello

My first question is: When did you notice this problem from touchpad.

I mean, the Sat Pro C660 is a portable old and if this issue seemed to be in the first day of purchase, then something touched the touchpad feature in the past.

The question is: is at - it something wrong with the software or touchpad maybe module.
I think that can be answered only the settings of the notebook back to factory State.
If you are recovering the using laptop computer Toshiba recover disk, you will get exactly the same State as at the first day of the purchase.

If the touchpad would not always work properly, well there is some hardware problem

  • Cannot install Win 8 - Satellite Pro C660 does not detect HARD drive

    Hello

My HARD drive died, so I decided to upgrade my Satellite Pro C660 - 1 9 to an SSD.
I made a USB bootable with Win8 and starts very well.

The problem is that it does not detect my SSD, so I can proceed with the installation.
SSD appears in BIOS but not in Windows Installer.
He said that there is a missing driver.

I downloaded the AHCI drivers (XP, only ones available) and even in this case, after you have selected the only rider that appears, it says no new device found.

I tried to change the SATA from AHCI mode to compatibility mode and it's the same thing...

    What can I do?

    Thanks for the help.
    Best regards
    Bruno Moreira

More old Windows XP need a driver AHCI Intel's but I think this isn't a problem with SATA driver missing because as far as I know Windows 8 as well as Win 8.1 already contains the drivers to recognize the SSD or HARD disk drive.
In addition, the installation of the OS should be possible even if the driver would be added for this procedure, you must use the "compatibility" mode
As you say, the compatibility mode is not working too, so I think there is another problem.

However, page driver Toshiba also provides a driver Intel RST (Intel Rapid Storage Technology) (Windows 8 - updated) you can try to add during the installation of the OS.

But I m wondering if you would be able to install this Win 8 on common SATA HDD.
Have you tried to format the SSD using a different computer, then install Win 8?
    Give it a try.

  • Keyboard stopped working on my Satellite Pro C660 2JD

    Hello world

    I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro C660-2JD.

The keyboard has stopped working, it only works when the keyboard screen is selected as soon as I close the screen keyboard that it stops working. I plugged another keyboard that doesn't work or only works of the mouse and the keyboard on the laptop works ok. I used the Ubuntu live CD, and the keyboard works with it, but not in windows.

I have restored the laptop to factory settings and also make a clean installation still does not work only when the screen on the keyboard keyboard works. Does anyone have any ideas of what is the problem? It seems that something prevents the loading keyboard driver.

    Krones

Start your laptop and enter the BIOS settings. Keyboard works in BIOS mode?
Have you tested using \Windows in "safe mode" (F8)?
