Satellite Pro L670 - size of the Excessive recovery partition

Hello

New to this forum I have just bought a new laptop of Toshiba Satellite Pro L670, is great so far, but I have a question I'd like to solve.

It has a 500 GB hard drive, which will be more than enough for some time yet, but I'm not satisfied with the way it is partitioned, usable space is divided into 232 C: and 232 GB D: that has the data folder HDDRecovery on it. Now, I know that I can still use the partiition for data, but I prefer to keep all my files in one place and the usual locations of Windows on the C: drive.

What is the best way to recover all my hard drive space, Windows allows me to shrink the D. partition, but cannot extend the C: partition into free space created as the recovery folder is in the way. Thought copy output folder then recreate a smaller partiiton D: but he did not like me trying to move the folder either!

ID of burn recovery DVDs can I safely delete the D: partition? I prefer to keep the disk but with a bigger drive C: is the highest priority!

Congratulations to all

Steve

Hi scoobasteve,

> What is the best way to recover all my hard drive space
There is no better way. There are many options for the creation of new partitions because some people prefer a single partition, other people using a lot of partitions.

Don t worry folder HDDrecovery!

For example, I installed all my programs/games on the first partition C: where I installed Windows as well. This partition uses 50% of HARD drive space.
Then I have a second partition D: with HARD drive recovery record. He s using the other 50% and on that, I've stored my files like photos, videos, music, documents, etc. No program, but all other files.

In my opinion that s ok because I have to run HARD drive recovery, only the C: partition is removed. My important files are still on the D: partition after recovery of HARD drive. In addition, each week, I create a backup of all files on D: partition wait folder of HARD disk recovery. That's why I use Acronis True Image, it records the image on an external DRIVE connected via USB drive.

Then why delete disk HARD recovery file?
Of course, you can remove it but create the before recovery disk! After you delete the folder, you are not able to do this more!

    Where can I find it?

    Hello!

If Yes, you can order a new disc of recovery of an authorized service provider. On the Toshiba site, you can search for them.

  • Size of the necessary recovery Partition

    Hello

I have a Pavilion dv5130ca laptop with a 120 GB drive, which is bad. I bought a new identical drive and from HP recovery disks.

I would like to know what size I should I allocate the recovery partition, when I restore the windows; I was thinking about 6 GB.

My OS is Windows XP Media.

    Thank you... Michel.

Why deal with the recovery partition when you own the CD?  HP said the recovery partition to save a few cents (cost of the recovery CD).  A better strategy is to install windows and to remove the recovery partition.  A program of imaging like BOOTIT NG to create an image file of your operating system on CD/DVD.  Restore this image to any hard drive file and you will be able to return the PC to this exact state without needing a recovery partition.

You can burn the small program of Bootit NG 1.4 MB on a CD.  Boot from this CD and you can restore this image to any hard disk file.

  • New Satellite Pro L670 - 14 M turns on if the charger is plugged?

    Hi all

New to the forum so grateful for any help on this matter.

I bought a brand new laptop Satellite Pro L670 - 14 M last week. Now it works fine up until today. The last time that I used it while just running the battery was Monday night. I was working on the laptop, send email etc. today, and I decided to change rooms. For some reason, I still have to discover that I disconnected the charger from the wall (instead of simply unplug the charger from the laptop) so that it was plugged into the laptop and the laptop just turned off much to my shock. It was sparking that I saw the decision-making that I removed the CAP, but now the laptop lights not unless supply current is connected. If I unplug the charger, the computer does not illuminate.

Now, my first thought is I (crossed beams) killed the battery, but the strange thing is, when the laptop is plugged in and turned on and I'm on my screen and I click on the battery icon in the taskbar it States 94% available (plugged in, load)

While I wait for some answers I hope I shut down the laptop and leave the charger plugged in to see if the battery has loaded more than 94%

    Hello

I think that the BIOS update would be worth a try in your case. Take a look at the Toshiba driver download page:
    http://EU.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp

But before you start the update: make sure that you are logged on as administrator and close all running programs. Unzip all files from zip archive first.
After update successful BIOS load default settings in the BIOS.

Are you using the original Toshiba battery and AC adapter or they are 3rd parties gone?

    Anyone experienced this?

    Hello

I m not Satellite Pro L670 owner but in my opinion it of difficult to discuss these issues without seeing and hear it.

From my own experience, I can say that I have two laptops Toshiba and I can t view all rattle plastic. Everything is ok, the quality is perfect.

If you think that it s something wrong, you should get in contact with a service provider authorized in your country. Guys can take a look at your notebook and tell you if it of ok or not. :)

  • Re: Satellite Pro L670 - can I turn off the sound when the battery is empty?

    Hello

Is it possible to disable the bios beep when the battery is empty or the laptop's Hibernate?

    I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro L670.

Even when the sound in Windows is turned off the laptop do a annoying sound.

    Thank you!

Maybe it sounds silly, but I put t understand why that should be disabled. When the battery reaches the critical battery level you will be informed about this and portable must be connected to the power running or you have to save your work and turn it off.

Do you really want to work until the battery is completely discharged?

Anyway, AFAIK this notification level BIOS cannot be disabled.
Let's see if someone else is better informed than me.

  • Satellite Pro L670-16Z - XP installation after using Windows 7?

Regards to all forums. I'm new here.

Next week I should get a new pc, * Satellite Pro L670-16Z *. I have a few questions.

    * 1. * If, during some weeks, use my computer with Windows 7, after that I can downgrade to Windows XP?

    * 2 if I downgrade to XP, you can reinstall Windows 7 new?
    Thank you for the replay.

If you want to reinstall Windows 7, you must first create the recovery disk. There should be an icon on the desktop. Use good quality DVD discs since those of poor quality can cause errors during recovery.

To install XP, you buy XP in a store (which may be difficult).

You can run XP in Windows 7 Professional or higher using a Virtual Machine.

  • Increases the size of the "HDD Recovery" folder on the partition "D".

I am the owner of laptop Toshiba Satellite, recently, I noticed that my D: drive (unused) is saturated and after careful analysis I realized that the "HDDRecovery" file size is > 200 GB.

I don't want to remove the file or remove image files inside that I need the functionality of recovery, but I have not a clue how to handle the recovery process to decrease the volume.

Do you have an idea how this issue?

    Wojtek

    Hello

It seems strange to me that the size of the HDD recovery folder would increase up to 200 GB continuously. Probably for laptop computer stores files backup automatically in this folder, but I m not very well why

However, I recommend you to create a recovery media (recovery disk) using the Toshiba
Recovery media creator (this software pre-installed on the Toshiba laptop).

The use of disk recovery (or USB key recovery) would fix the laptop back to the factory and even if settings you should remove the folder in HARD drive recovery or the entire partition, this partition, and these files would be created again.

Hope that this information could be useful for you.

  • Satellite Pro L670 - 1 M 3 - Chipset in this model

    Hello!

I'm looking for help: who knows, what Intel chipset is in the Satellite Pro L670 - 1 M 3? It's the Intel H55 Mobile?
If so - is that this chipset in all series production of the 1 M 3?

I couldn't find this information on the Toshiba site.

    Thx a lot

    wonderpro

    Hey Buddy,

I agree with the user MannerhagenVPO. The chipset of this model is Intel HM55 Mobile and all the Satellite Pro L670 - 1 M 3 models are equipped with this chipset.

I hope that your question is answered now :)

  • Vista drivers for new Satellite Pro L670 - 14L

So I have been serching for a laptop of decent game and found: Toshiba Satellite Pro L670 - 14L to be a good combination power/price
but after reading some reviews, I discovered that many people's complaint that the toshiba drivers are not updated.
that seems to be true because the latest drivers for my P300 with 4500 m are 2008!

So, I checked for L670 Vista display drivers and did not find one! Even for Win7 do not seem old already,
is that mean Toshiba is not compatible Vista more? I have to use windows 7 only?

I can see in the specifications of the laptop your laptop came with WIN7 64 BITS HOME PREMIUM.
    Can you confirm this?

Why are you asking about the Vista drivers if you got the new OS to Win7. You want to use Vista or what?
I want to say Win7 is much better than old Vista OS so I put t understand what you exactly want. To use Vista or you ask here for more recent WIn7 display driver?

  • Satellite Pro L670 - 11 d and Dynadock U10 problem re-docking station

This my first post on this forum - I hope I have the right category.

We have a user with a Satellite Pro L670 - 11 d attached to a port replicator Dynadock U10 USB.

Everything seems fine, except when press us the disconnect button (or select eject Dock) the laptop leaves the great.
However when we try to anchor (for example after a meeting of bureau) it does not recognize the usb connection and docking station won't. We usually have to restart at this point. We are attentive to reconnect to the same usb port.

Has anyone seen this problem and know a fix?

    Thank you

    David

    Hello

Have you noticed this problem only under this Dynadock U10 or perhaps with the external USB HDD too?
In my opinion, it sounds a bit like the issue of the BONE and not like the Dynadock question.

I would recommend this control by using a USB HDD.
Connect the USB HDD to the USB port as well.
Then, disconnect the USB HDD and unplug the laptop HARD drive. Reconnect the HARD drive and check if the HARD drive would be connected again.
If the same thing would happen with HARD drive, you should check the USB port
Maybe the chipset driver will need to be updated

But if the HARD drive is raccorderaient ok and if the question does not seem to be using the HARD drive, then, it would be necessary to check the Dynadock maybe reinstall the Dynadock from the software again.

  • Satellite Pro A60-832: sometimes the OS starts without sound and modem

    Hello

I have a problem with my Satellite Pro A60-832. Everything works perfectly, but sometimes my system starts without sound. When this happends, modem also does not work. After reboot, everything works well again. I integrate Windows XP Pro SP2, but the same thing was happening with the original Windows XP Pro SP1 provided in the Toshiba Recovery CD.
    Any ideas?

    Sorry for my bad English.

As mentioned, a high temperature might be responsible for these drop-outs, but I n t think that there is a problem in your case.
I think that the temperature cannot be very high immediately after the start of the laptop.

In case I would recommend comparing the BIOS installed on the unit you with available on the Toshiba page BIOS.
If there is a new version of the BIOS so you can try to update.
But be sure you use the good BIOS and the proper procedure.

  • Which hard drive Solid State for Satellite Pro L670?

I have a Satellite Pro L670, I need to configure for presentation and having to re - load operating system anyway.

Rather than write the existing drive too much, I thought that it would be best to get a second to adapt instead.
Replace the current (obsolete) rotation drive with a solid state, it seems to me the best way to go.
Has anyone equipped with a hard drive to a Satellite Pro?

For budget reasons, I plan to go for a capacity of 120 GB that will be enough.

However, I've yet to discover at Toshiba they could recommend. Anyone else gone this route?

    Hello

Theoretically, any SATA SSD drive should be compatible because the laptop supports a SATA controller.
But in some cases, it might be possible that an SSD would not be treated properly. In such cases, SDD drive manufacturers provide different firmware updates

So before buying an SSD drive check the support pages of the manufacturers of SSDS for more details would perhaps have a firmware update
