Satellite R20-DVD recorder (necessary firmware) problem

Hello
in my Toshiba Satellite R20 (Tablet) recorder DVD (Pioneer) was accidentally flashed with the incorrect firmware by the previous user (I work in the company and this tablet came to me already used one).
Now when power on/off, ERROR of CD-ROM appears for a while, then window starts normally on HARD drive. In Windows, I do not see the optical drive - first I have to suspend the system, and then, after waking up, the DVD drive is recognized and installed but only works in PIO mode. I have seen that the displayed model number is incorrect (DVR - K16 and should be DVR-K16TBR because it is desrcibed the disk).
Is it possible to get the firmware original and reflash the drive by myself?

Kind regards

T. Trojan

Hello

Drive, you can reflash t by yourself, this can only an ASP (authorized service provider), but I don't know, if this possible of m.

The best way is to contact an ASP and ask them. Here you can find one:

In the worst cases, the disc must be replaced.

Tell me what happened, I interested in m.

Good bye

  • Satellite R20 - Memory Stick PRO Duo problem

I looked and saw a lot of similar posts from users with a similar problem. Unfortunately, most of the answers suggested by looking at the user manual and taking note that the phone does not support the Memory Stick PRO Duo. Technically, that's true. However, many Sony cameras come with an adapter that turns the PRO Duo stick a Memory Stick PRO. These include very well in Flash Media Bridge adapter. The manual also indicates that the drive supports this stick.

What's weird, is that Windows Vista recognizes the insertion of the memory stick, but he then told me that I need to format it before so I can use it. I don't remember what I used the term, but there was a time eventually (with an older driver and/or the installation of XP?) when I could operate using a tip of reboot or something. No, however, I get boor. The stick (and its adapter) work very well. I can read it using another USB adapter. (Connected to my dell monitor 24 "... so not exactly a portable solution)

My laptop is the Satellite R20 Tablet and my OS is Vista Business

Thanks in advance for your help.

Duo cards have been gradually were they not? I'm sure that the Duo do not support Toshiba laptops. The only solution is a USB adapter, preferably a compact.

  • Satellite A60: firmware for TEAC DV-W24e DVD recorder necessary!

    Hi guys,.
I have a problem with TEAC DV-W24e DVD burner. It has been a few times that it is no longer able to write any CD or DVD. Today, I checked the firmware and seen that the version is not the good thing at all. Someone could tell me where I could get the latest firmware for this DVD burner or could - that someone send it to me by e-mail! It would be great!
Thank you all and happy holidays.

    Ben

I found an update of the firmware on the Toshiba page in the area Satellite A60 but s only for these drives:
    SD-R2212
    SD-R1312
    SD-R1512
    SD-R2412
    SD-R6112
    SD-R2512

I think you have to Google or ask the manufacturing of the car for the right firmware

  • Satellite P30 - DVD UJ - 830 s problems - you can't copy or move files

    Hello
Just had to reinstall everything using the Toshiba Recovery disk image.

DVD drive works at all, which always gives a drive not connected WARNING!

Then after 2 days and reinstall OLD records, he began to work.

Now, I can't move a file by copying and pasting, and it does not even appear on SEND it to the list!

I can read without problem, I can write using the power to go, but I can't write by simply moving a file it! I'll try InCD again and hope it works this time.

Any idea? I checked the uptade files and firmware, but they are not for this drive, apparently the UJ-830 almost does not exist online at all! Toshiba has got rid of them with all their version (not the Pro) Satellite P30.

    It's a rug * a (Matsu * a - i.e. Panasonic!) UJ-830 S

Does anyone know were to find hardware manual internal Satellite P30, so I can make the appropriate myself upgrade! I am a technician in electronics and likes to do things correctly.

This DVD player, in my opinion, is the only let down on this laptop very nice.

    Thank you

    Hello

You have suggested that you can read without any problems and writing also works using the power to go. I guess the power to go is burning software.
In this case I think the disk is ok.

I think that if you want to write the files to the CD using the file just go you must activate Windows registry.
Go to the properties of disk (right-click) and select? record? tab.
There, you should check the options.

--> Power calibration error is a mistake known to me.
I've read on various sites several suggestions and comments and the power calibration error appear because the lens of the drive can not calibrate correctly.
It is a hardware malfunction and unfortunately nothing :(

You will need to replace the drive

  • Satellite C850D - DVD burning problem

Four months ago, I bought a laptop C850D - 12 L to replace my laptop computer another death.

A couple of days, I tried to burn on a DVD jpg files; I had not done this before on the new machine.
Everything seems fine until she reach the finishing process and the disk does not end.

I tried to fire using Windows own engraving option, Nero and I even downloaded Ashampoo Burning Studio, but whenever I get the same results, i.e. nothing gets burned on a disc. I wasted 12 discs already try all variants of files, engraving, programs, etc., but each of them fails.

I don't think it's the drive, I think it's a software problem, because * I am able to burn files to a CD *. The player plays also bought the DVD shop so that the part of okay - it's just finish burned DVD that is the problem.

I downloaded a few programs that may have affected things, (Nero was already on the laptop when I bought it), they are: VLC player and DVD Styler - I downloaded them only that Windows 8 has no creation of DVD as Windows 7 programs don't.

I phoned John Lewis, where I bought the PC, but they were not able to help, nor were Toshiba, who said it must be a software problem and asked me if I would like to speak to someone else for advice, even if it would cost me. seeing that I have a two year warranty on it, I refused.

Drivers from the DVD were dated 2006 and a search inside the Device Manager said that these are the latest drivers.

I went to the website of Toshiba and found a zip file driver, which has been updated in 2013. I downloaded which, to reveal the ten files, three of which are uncompressed application files. I tried to run all three of the latter with no apparent effect. I even tried to search these files when you try to update DVD drivers in Device Manager, but he acknowledged not all ten driver files (mentioned above), even though I copied these to a more convenient location in My Documents folder.

I would be grateful for any suggestions as to how I can solve this problem.

    Best regards, Martin.

    > I don't think it's the drive, I think it's a software problem, because I am able to burn files to a CD.

I think you use not entirely compatible DVD disks.
It was my problem burning DVD disc.

Recommend test you the discs DVD-R from different manufacturers but I had the best experience using R TDK and Verbatim DVD R

PS: Windows system using common Microsoft CD/DVD driver. This is why there is no special driver for optical disc player sound is always part of the system.

  • Satellite A660 - DVD player does not recognize some DVD

    I have a new Satellite A660-17th with a drive HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT30N, running under Windows 7 64-bit.

The reader will read most DVDs. Commercial DVD (region 2) are very good. However, there are problems with the DVD recorded with DVD recorders. Recordings of DVD + R using a Philips machine work very well. DVD + R and DVD - R using a Sony HDX 1095 of RDR machine do not work.

I hope that the disc is ok and that this problem can be solved by changing some settings or other?
    Any ideas?

    Hey,.

If commercial DVDs are working properly, it s final related to your own created DVD recorder of DVD.
It s knows not to adjust something on the DVD player without region code

In my opinion, you should test different brands of DVD to check which is compatible with all devices.
My favorite is Verbatim DVD - R TDK also makes good discs

  • Fan noise and satellite R20

    Guys,

I bought the Satellite R20 tablet pc with the intention to take it to my classes. There is a serious problem, though – the top fan is REALLY loud, it fits like a turbine sometimes - and disturbs the whole class.

Is any way to solve this problem and make the laptop to run in silent mode?

Also, I have problems with the battery... it will hold only 1 h 30 minutes MAXIMUM.

Overall, I am very disappointed with the purchase, the device is SO bulky! :(

Thank you much for the help.

    Hello

Sounds like the fan needs to be replaced, or it has something stuck inside.

Take it to a service center authorized to repair.

  • Satellite 1400 DVD will not play DVD

    Hello

After cleaning the notebook of the cousin of my fiancee, who had a number of viruses, the DVD player will play is no longer the DVD (it will play data CD, however, can read data DVD as well, but I don't have any of those). When I put a movie disc, it will try and try to read it, and in the end, he gave up. If I click on the drive again, it asks me to put it on a disc.

I tried all sorts of things to fix. The DVD-Rom is a Hitachi GDR-8081n. I uninstalled and let Windows detect it again, I uninstalled the secondary IDE channel is on, to ensure implementation in DMA mode (it was in PIO), no effect. I loaded the latest version of WinDVD, no luck. I uninstalled WinDVD and installed PowerDVD, no effect. I manually deleted cdrom.sys and had put Windows back, without result. I found an update of the firmware somewhere, but unfortunately it simply does not work (it calls for the CD/DVD is not actually present).

Someone had a similar problem and figured out what to do? Search online for those who have had similar problems with other DVDs, the usual assumption is that it is a hardware failure. It is quite possible that this is the case, I guess, but it would really be a coincidence for making it happen the same day wherever I tried to wipe the drive, so I am doubtful.

Any assistance that may be provided is much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Elio,

From your description of the problem, I think that your DVD player has a problem with the laser. IN a combi laser scanner uses two different frequencies, one for CD and one for DVD.

I suspect that the frequency of DVD is not working properly. The fact that the player to repeatedly try to read a DVD when you insert one indicates to me that the software works correctly, but the laser is not able to focus properly on the DVD.

Unfortunately, your only real option is to consult an authorized Service Agent or replace the drive yourself if it is the least expensive option.

    Best wishes

  • Satellite R20: After Vista upgrade sound does not work

    Hello

I have a Toshiba Satellite R20 compressed and I recently updated for windows Vista premium edition. I had to install some drivers manually and everything seems ok, except that the Realtek speakers do not play anything (or they are, but very weakly).

If I plug headphones into the Jack, that I can barely hear the sound. It's highest possible volume wise. Does anyone else have this problem? where can I get any help?

    Thank you

If you can hear the sound through headphones the sound card works and it of not a driver problem.
It seems that some sound controller can be assigned to the lower floor.
I know you said that all is set to high, but nevertheless to check all possible controllers

But a question: where did you find the Vista drivers for this laptop?

  • Satellite R20 Tablet - noisy fan, battery runs out quickly

I observed a problem on my Tablet R20 - no matter how I play with management control of power the fan is always on and almost always in quite high speed. Even if I set the power management profile in long service life of the fan turns down, but for the moment I start doing anything (even minimize an open application window), it is up to high speed.

The fan noise is annoying, but what is worse, it is the life of the battery which is reduced to 2 h 20 min. maximum. I recently had the opportunity to work on a new model of Satellite M100 and none of these problems exist on this machine. With a similar material (Core Duo, Intel Graphics, same size LCD screen (screen large 14 ")), everything was quiet, and the battery lasted longer than 4 hours.

    Anyone who has similar problems?

First of all, the fan speed is related to the use of the laptop. If you use an application the CPU works with superior performance and produces more heat. Then the temperature increases at the higher level and the fan start to turn.
The battery life is also depends on the use of the laptop and the battery. To my knowledge, the battery 6-cell standard which was delivered with this laptop supports 4700mAh. It is not very powerful, and as a result, you can work with battery only 2.5 hours.
Sure, you could buy stronger batteries:
    for example this:
Extended capacity battery (Li - ion, 7050mAh, 9 cells) PA3509U-1BRM
    Battery high capacity Pack (Li-ion, 12 cells, 8600mAh) PA3400U-1 b

The last battery with 8600mAh provides a dual power supply and you will be able to run much longer than with the 4700mAh notebook

  • Satellite R20: Can it work under Vista tablet features?

If you install Vista on the Tablet R20 - you get the feature to write on the screen?

    Hello

Well, I m not a R20 owner and have not installed Vista but it seems that the necessary drivers are available and the features of the tablet should work with Vista.
On the page of the Toshiba Vista driver I found Satellite R20 (PSR20) and the Package of Extension of Tablet PC to Vista.
The TOSHIBA Tablet PC Extension package installs a range of important public services.

TOSHIBA Rotation utility: Set the default screen orientation desired use of the system during the transition from the PC to Tablet mode, or vice versa.

TOSHIBA Tablet PC buttons driver: You can dedicate the buttons on the tablet to perform common tasks so that you can easily use your tablet PC away from your workstation. For example, you can dedicate a button to open a program or to change the orientation of your screen.

TOSHIBA accelerometer utilities: The TOSHIBA accelerometer utilities are a set of material utilities that work with the integrated motion sensors you machine. With the accelerometer, your machine will be able to detect how you're holding it at one point. You can set the machine to perform a specific function when the device is tilted quickly left or right, either at the front or back.
You can also take control of the cursor in some applications and move by leaning the PC in a cert.

Well, I m not a R20 owner and have not installed Vista but it seems that the necessary drivers are available and the features of the tablet should work with Vista.

  • Can activate a Satellite L40 DVD burner

I recently bought a Satellite L40 (Vista Home) which came with a Pioneer DVD burner. The problem I have is that the player is currently disabled and that any attempt to activate the device fails.

Can someone advise a solution because I can't use the drive as it is?
    Thanks in advance.

What exactly do you mean by saying that the player is currently disabled?

Have you checked the Device Manager and the status of the CD/DVD driver?
Do you see yellow exclamation points?

However, no matter if a yellow exclamation point appears or not, you should try to remove the CD/DVD drive device manager and must restart the laptop.
Finally, the Windows operating system should recognize a new device and should reinstall the CD/DVD drive.

Hope this short procedure will help you get the job of CD/DVD drive.

    I appreciate feedback ;) cheers
