My laptop Satellite C660-155 cuts often cause of overheating. What is the problem with my laptop?

    How can it be solved?

    Hello

I think that air can circulate properly and this leads to a higher temperature.

Don't forget the vents at the bottom and on the side of the laptop are not stuck and blocked!
Always use the laptop on the table and make sure that there is enough free space around the laptop.

Also use jet of compressed air to remove dust and debris cooling fans! You can also use your vacuum cleaner, but in this case, I would be very careful because strong aspiration can destroy the fans!

    Hello

Why Toshiba Satellite R830 does not support Sata III, although the plug to motherboard. indicate that it is possible?

  • Satellite R830-1GZ - CPU usage high (> 25%) and increase in the speed of the fan after reactivation

    Hi all

The CPU usage of my laptop shoots upward to 25% (and beyond) and increases in fan speed considerably after waking up, but only when I use an external mouse (Microsoft Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000) - disconnect the mouse once it happened does not solve the problem, so I always have to restart my computer if I let go sleep with the connected mouse.

I noticed that when this produces the system interrupts - delayed appeals procedure and Interrupt Service routine appears in the resource monitor > CPU > process and seems to explain the increase in the use of the processor.

Any ideas on how to solve this problem would be most appreciated.

I use a Toshiba Satellite R830 1GZ with Windows 7 (64-bit). This problem will not occur when I use the same mouse with another laptop (Dell with Windows XP).

    Thank you very much.

I think that the process that controls the mouse MS WLan does not close properly.
The system to memorize it and therefore the cooling module begins to spin faster because these processes stressed the central unit.

Maybe its caused by the mouse driver

  • Satellite R830: Question about power for battery usage options

    Hello world

I recently bought a R830-182 (detailed configuration below).
I had to update Windows 7 Home Premium Ultimate because I need to use it on my university network.

My University gives us an upgrade to windows 7 ultimate edition, but I had to do a clean install (from inside Windows 7 Home Edition, copy the upgrade you can do).
The key, with what they gave me would not work with the Windows anytime upgrade utility.

I think that I have installed everything that I need to get the laptop to work, but I'm not sure of the configuration of the battery. The cooling fan seems to be always on, and when the battery reaches 100% charge that he also said that he is in charge.

    My questions are:
    1. is there another program I have to install to allow the computer manage settings of the battery?
    2. do I need to change some settings in the power options?
3 should. what settings I change in power options?

    Any help would be welcome

Also there is no HDMI in under the control panel Device Manager, should there be?

Thank you very much for any help or advice.

    Hello
I put t know what Windows system that you use on this laptop, but the driver HDMI isn't available from the HDMI port driver is part of the system and should be recognized automatically.

Capacity Audio HDMI you need to install the right audio driver and should allow this in Control Panel-> sound-> playback device

HDMI (digital out) would be not listed there, right click and choose:
Show devices disabled, view hidden devices.

Usually the HDMI connection isn t very delicate. Everything should run automatically.
Connect both devices with a HDMI cable.
Turn on the TV, then the computer.
Now, use the exit function FN (key) video combination in order to get to the video (HDMI).

  • Questions from the screen and keyboard on Satellite R830-181

    Hello

    I had exactly the same problem with it;
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?MessageID=280934

I also explained what is it and how it over time in this topic.

To sum up; my screen and keyboard do not work in my Toshiba Satellite R830-181, 13.3 '' laptop.

    My questions;
    1. is it a motherboard problem?

    2. as it runs on an external monitor, I guess that the graphics card or processor is fine.
There is no damage on the screen, so I guess there is a problem with the connection of the power supply to the screen.

If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.

I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.

What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
Same question applies to the keyboard.

    3. If I repair or fix myself, you think it will happen again? Because I think that this could be a faulty laptop computer of a certain series of production since someone else has experienced the same thing with this model.

can 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?

    5. If this can be resolved with a replacement of the screen, that I need to find a laptop screen Toshiba R830 or I can buy any 13.3-inch screen?

As far as I know this model is not supported by the company more, so it is quite difficult to find a screen R830.
It is difficult to find a 13.3-inch screen, anyway, but still, if I can use the screen of another model which would ease my problems.

I need an idea on that.
    Thanks :)

    > 1 - is it a motherboard problem?
Not easy to say: If the external monitor works correctly then this isn't problem chart/motherboard.
The external USB keyboard works properly, if not motherboard problem too.

    > 2 - because it works on a monitor external I guess graphics card or processor is fine.
    Yes, that's correct.

    > If I buy a new screen I have my doubts it will work.
I do not recommend to buy the new parts before the defective parts has not been verified.

    > I'll probably send it to the service tech in my country (hard to find here reliable technology services Toshiba), however, I would like to know what may be the cause and if I can fix it myself.
Good idea to send it to Toshiba service partner since the guys would be able to control parts and fix it.

    > What do you think guys? It is a power issue or a problem with the monitor itself?
If a power issue or something else rather than the screen, how can be fixed?
    > Same question goes for the keyboard.

Don t think someone can tell exactly what's causing this according to me its just a bad luck material can start malfunction happens in every possible branch of industries (TV, computer, smartphone, cars)

can > 4 - there be a relationship between the non-functional keyboard and screen?
No, the keyboard is only connected to the motherboard, display is also connected to the motherboard, but there is no connection between the keyboard and the display.

  • Supported satellite R830-182 and SSD

Anyone know if there is news of SSD in Toshiba laptops?

I ask because I have a Satellite R830-182 and I recently purchased an OCZ Agility 4 and it is not detected by the BIOS.

I tried all the tricks in the book including the BIOS upgrade and switching between AHCI/IDE.

Research online, find posts on this topic.
The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen not to support other than their own brand SSDs. Is this true? And if so, is that still the case?

Someone suggested that [by pressing Pause | https://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=244444𻫜] before entering the BIOS would help.
    Has anyone tried this before?
Not sure that it is a viable long-term solution.

    Any other thoughts/advice on this?

    > Research online, I find messages on this particular problem.
    > The general consensus seems to be that Toshiba has actively chosen not to support other than their own brand SSDs. Is this true? And if so, is that still the case?

I have Toshiba laptop and I could upgrade the laptop with a SSD 250 GB from another manufacturer. One of my friends with Toshiba Satellite laptop also use another brand of SSD 2.5 drive.

But the fact is that the problems of compatibility between different devices (not always SSDS but other modules PCI as well) can happen and its nothing unusual in the world of large computing.

As far as I know that some R830 models are equipped with a ' Solid State Drive (SSD) instead of a hard drive. Type of SSD SATA 2.5 "SSD SATA type 256/512 GB and 1.8" 128 GB must be compatible. "
But its also a matter of SSD drive firmware. In many cases firmware drive SSD can be not BIOS supported.
In this case the SSD drive would not be recognized correctly.

  • Satellite R830: How do the BIOS settings password protected?

    Hi all

I installed a software protection against theft in my Satellite R830, but he suggested that I adjust the settings in the BIOS so that it will start only from the hard drive, and to make sure that no one else can modify it (if it is stolen), the BIOS settings are protected by Word.

Can someone tell me how to access the BIOS at startup settings upward?

    Hello

You can set the BIOS settings by setting the BIOS password.
If someone would like to change the BIOS settings, the password of the BIOS would be necessary.

  • How do disable you booting from removable devices on Satellite R830?

    Hi all

Can someone help me find a way to disable booting from removable devices on a toshiba Satellite R830.

    Thank you?

    Hello

You can't disable booting from a boot device.
You can simply change the boot order in the BIOS.

If you don t want to start, for example: USB, just put the HARD drive as first boot device.
Now the laptop will boot first from the HARD drive. If it isn t HARD (because of missing systems) bootable disk, the BIOS will pass to the next device, IE: CD/DVD player

    Hello

The Toshiba UE driver page provides the package upgrade to win 8.
It s for 8 Win, NOT Win 8.1
This is why some tools and utilities may not work properly.

But look: If you use Win 8 (not quite sure to win 8.1) very important is the driver of Toshiba system installation.
Such driver Toshiba System can be found on the page of the Toshiba driver too.

By the way: make sure display driver is installed

  • Satellite R830 - Windows 8 - Fn keys do not work

I made the mistake of upgrading to Windows8 with special offer included with my Satellite R830.

When I got all the workers, my key (Flash cards) functions worked.
I use these a lot to adjust the brightness, turn on and off Bluetooth (but how I never really find - I just continues to support on until I get the result I want) adjustment volume etc etc.

Something happened and I lost the function keys.
I ran the Toshiba Upgrade Assistant that was a ridiculous download of the massive amounts of data and holding still.

I searched and searched and I've tried everything "solutions" that I could find.
I downloaded and installed the Flash cards, but that doesn't seem to be available.
I downloaded and installed the value (from the window of Windows 8 "drivers").

But there is no mention of Flash Cards in that.
I downloaded and installed the function keys, but allows only four keys, that which none that I use.

I hope someone can help me get my function keys to work with Windows 8 x 64.

By the way, on the question of Bluetooth:-I lived a massive loss of speed on my Wifi Internet. I turned off Bluetooth and the problem disappeared.
But now I can't turn it on again when I need it!

    Thank you!

    Hello

Let's hope my advice will be able to help.
First of all, you can find driver Win 8 on the Toshiba UE driver page.
You must choose the Satellite R830 PT32LE - upgrade of Windows 8 section

Now you need to download and install:
-Value Added Package 1.6.0130.640205 (this is for 64 bit)
    -Driver Toshiba system
    -Toshiba utility function of key

Finally, restart the device and test your function keys
