Satellite T110-121 - slow wireless connectivity

Hi there, hope someone can help me.

I just bought a Toshiba Satellite [T110-121 | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/product/Satellite-T110-121/1080681/toshibaShop/false/] laptop and it's absolutely great in every way, but it connects to my router wireless less than 512 Kbps.

I have an another Toshiba laptop, I am about to sell ([U30013U | http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&com.broadvis ion.session.new = Yes & PRODUCT_ID = 137279]) and the wireless speed is normally around 15mbps. All other laptops that were already connected to my wireless router are normally not less than 15mbps.

The T110-121 is super fast when it is connected through ethernet, therefore, the problem lies only in the part things wireless.
My router is a netgear dg834g, and I'm on DSL of the Virgin.

The only major difference between my two laptops from Toshiba is the new are listed as being supported network: 802.11b/g/n connectivity and my oldest with the connection the faster is listed as: a/b/g. This would make much difference?

I should also add that I removed all potentially problematic pre-installed software, such as Mcafee and I use Avast.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Hello

There is a difference between simple standards of WLan 802.11 A, B, G or N.
If your router supports 802.11 G or N then I would recommend choosing 802.11 N Router and the settings of the Wlan because the 802.11 standard card standard is the fastest and the most recent.

Please check if the wireless network card is configured properly. You can do this in-Wlan card-> Advanced tab > Device Manager.
You could improve also the unique parameters and performance of WLan.

Last but not least, please check the Windows 7 power management because the WLan performance might be decreased in for safe battery power.

An update of the WLan driver should be judged as well.

    Hello

I bought Toshiba Satellite T110-121, with Windows 7 Home Premium.

    Problem:

    1. after going into Sleep Mode, when he wakes up, my WIFI does not work, unless I'm in wireless network card setting, Advanced tab, then I change the Tx to say 100% to 75% power level, then the WLAN will work.

    2. I tried to adjust the setting for power management on the network card for maximum performance and does not disable during sleep and also in the Bios but nothing is

    3. I use Realtek 8191SE drivers have been updated (wireless card, Ethernet, Bios)

As much I know Tx power level option must be set to Auto.
Have you noticed the same behavior with Auto option?

  • Replacement of power for Satellite T110-121 port

Is could someone please tell me how do I get a new power supply for my Toshiba Satellite T110-121.
My boyfriend of girls was about to replace it, but they have since split up.

    Hello

Replacement is very, very tricky because you must remove the entire portable device.
You must remove all the parts before you will have access to the motherboard and the domain controller in the cable.

I don t think you can do it without any step by step instructions and guidelines.

As far as I know and as has been suggested in this forum, the maintenance manuals are not available for ordinary users of portable computers. These manuals are released only for authorized service technicians and I think that you will not be able to download manuals, but I think you can find useful information and details on the internet.

For example, you can have a look on the website irisvista.com and might find Satellite T110/115 series how to disassemble these units.

But this dismantling is at your own risk!

  • Satellite T110-121 - broken the hinge/bracket

Anyone know the part number of a set of display/hinge for the T110-121 media?

Mine broke last week and I can't seem to buy a replacement or a suitable alternative.
    Thanks in advance.

EH... it is not easy to get this information, but, in my opinion, you don't need it. all Satellite T110 have the same hinges and there is no difference.
Different can be only the motherboard and some other hardware components like Ram LAN wireless card, HARD drive and so on.

Basics like hinges are the same. I don't know where you live but try to use Google for your country and check if you can find the hinge Set support or laptop computer Toshiba Satellite T110 hinges.

Also, check eBay for your country.

  • Satellite T110-121 - Trojan horses on the installer?

I recently bought a T110-121. Turned on, set up Windows 7. Uninstalled MacAfee. Deliberately no connection to the internet at all. VET AV. Ran installed AV scan. Showed 2 Trojan horses.

I don't think that I can reach the screenshots here, but they were the two instances (one in the sys32) and the other in sys64 under the file mfplay.dll Windows directories. VET was not able to clean or delete, or I could, because I don't have the permission from TrustedInstaller to do. VETERINARY said that the Trojan TROJAN horse. WIN32. HOMEPAGE. FW is a pirate of the home page of gravity medium and associated Media Foundation playback by Microsoft Corporation ver 12.0.7600.16385 dated 07/14/2009.

Has anyone else AV turned up this? And is this normal as Toshiba or Microsoft to distribute Trojan horses with new computers?

    See you soon
    Mike

    Hi mikelawrence,

    > What is normal as Toshiba or Microsoft to distribute Trojan horses with new computers?
    Laughing out loud
You are a funny guy :D

Sorry, but to be honest, I'm sure that Toshiba or Microsoft distributes the horses of Trojan or virus with the new product.

I think that your antivirus software gives you a false alarm and that's it!
But about the antivirus, you wrote that you have installed "VET AV". I've never heard of this program, maybe that's the problem you have. This could be the Trojan disguised as antivirus program.

In my opinion, you need to install a reliable antivirus program. AntiVir is a great freeware tool. Alternative, I recommend Kaspersky.

  • Re: Satellite Pro A300-1EA - wireless connection, drop all the time

Hi, I have a problem with my wireless connection fall all the time on my Satellite Pro A300 1EA.

It happened earlier, but I've fiddled about a little with change of drivers and the removal of the connection settings for the registry and it then worked fine for months, until yesterday.

There were several updates for Windows installed yesterday, but none of them have been updated driver for the wireless card, and they don't look like they should cause problems. The fact that the problem happened before makes me think that the updates can be anything to do with it.

I use the * Intel PRO/Wireless 3945/4965/5100/5300 * for Vista 32 - bit version 12.2.0.11.3 drivers from the Toshiba download page.

Other computers on the same access point have no problem, so I think it is specific to this laptop. The connection speed is normally 6 Mbps, but I cannot even check e-mail now without the abandonment of the connection.

Laptop will be thrown against a wall soon if no one can help you.

    Thanks in advance.

Edit: I've already made sure power settings are at maximum to the WLAN card, even if on battery, or what power management.

    Hello

Have you tried to use the Windows System Restore feature? After that your WLAN should work fine again.

In addition, I can recommend the latest WLAN driver in the Intel page, it s version 12.4.xxxx. I installed the driver on my Qosmio laptop and don t have any problems with it: [www.intel.com].

If you have any other questions, please let us know!

  • Re: Satellite L670 loses the wireless connection

    Hello

I have a Satellite L670 - 1 H 1, a new laptop that runs Windows 7, with all the drivers and software uptodate, including the wireless card.

I have a BT Home Hub 3 with an Edimax EW 7416APN v2 300 m range extender to help boost the signal in the kitchen area.

The laptop works fine when I stay in the room where the reception centre. If I move in the kitchen the laptop will usually lose the wireless connection after a few minutes and I cannot get it back unless I turn the LAPTOP works and return to the Home Hub.

I see no obvious reason to this problem. Two other laptop computers used in the home, more a smartphone stay connected with full signal in every corner of the House, at any time.

I have to use the range extender, but is it possible that the laptop Toshiba just don't hear well with it?

    Any advice would be welcome.

    Thank you
    Canton

    Hello Canton

As you know quality of connection WLAN depends on different factors is not easy to say why you have this problem, WLAN. I use Toshiba laptops for a long time now and I didn't notice in the past some serious question of WLAN.
For example I'm 4 router with standard g and have very good signal even in the cellar too or out in the back yard.

If possible, try to test the WLAN connection elsewhere. Maybe your friends have WLAN routers so you can test it.

You have a new router or old?
What WLAN standard do you use (b/g/n)?

  • Satellite L350 loses the wireless connection

    Can someone please help?

I have a Satellite L350-170 which perfectly connects to the internet using a cable to connect to my router.
When you use the wireless to connect, I can only get a connection so I first of all turn off the wireless card and then enable it again, but I lose the connection within two minutes. I can reconnect if again, I turn off and then turn on the map.

The OS is Vista Home Premium Service Pack 2, fully implemented to date. I have updated to the most recent available wireless network driver. I tried to turn off IP6.
The laptop is connected to the network and receives a signal of power when it connects.
When the connection is lost, no networks are detected, but properties card says card works Ok, although Ipconfig says media disconnected. Other mobile stay connected anywhere in the House.

Thank you in anticipation of a quick solution.

Where did you download the latest driver for the Realtek 802.11 g (RTL8187B) wireless network card?

This is the WLan from Toshiba portal, where you can find the latest version of the driver:
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/WLAN/

I recommend also to renew the IP address if this problem would occur.
Cmd execute command: ipconfig / renew
This should help to assign the new ip address

By the way: in the Device Manager-> Wlan card-> properties-> power management, you can uncheck the mark option which disables the card in order to save energy.

Have you tested the WiFi with open (unsecured) WiFi connection?

  • Very slow wireless connection

    Hello

I am owner of the Dell Studio 1555 and I Dell Wireless 1397 WLAN Mini Card on my Board. There is a problem when I am connected to my router and Internet runs very slowly. The signal strength is excellent, I use WPA2 encryption. There is no problem to connect to the network, I had just to configure the ipv4 as IP, the door parameters and so on because the automatic setting didn't work. So I run my firefox and google charges pretty okey but slow. It is then impossible to surf because the download speed is something like 1 kb/s. When I plug in the ethernet cable so it's all good. I tried reinstalling the drivers but nothing has changed. I use windows vista. I also tried connection in linux ubuntu system, but same problem occurs. My friend uses a wireless connection of the router same and everything is going well for him. How to speed up the connection?

    Best wishes

    Simon

If you connect the laptop to the router (or the modem) with a cable? If it gives a high speed, you may need to change the channel is using your router. It's probably 11. Replace 1 or 5. Can significantly reduce the interference from other wireless devices connect speeds.

I just bought an S10 3 0647 and while it seems to work fine, I found is very slow N wireless connectivity - it shows the connection speed to be as slow as 19Mbps at times, but more often around 26Mbps. I need to update a driver, or modify any other parameter?

    Hi all

I just received my brand new X 230. The problem is as indicated in the heading "wireless connection is extremely slow.

I got my old SL300 of 4 years at the side of my X 230. When I test the speed to broadband, my SL300 yields 6 MB/sdownload and 1. 6 mb/s upload. However, my new gives a super speed reduced to 0.3 mb/s and 1.1 MB/s. So I think that my problem has nothing to do with my router.

I've already put my setting of the adapter wireless for maximum performance (power options > change plan settings > change advanced power settings > wireless adapter settings > power save mode > maximum power output). But it does not solve the problem.

    Here's my X 230 Specifications:

I can't really do anything with such a slow speed.

Thank you very much in advance.

I realize that it is not my laptop. It's my router actually.

  • Satellite T110-121 - Question about disk and hard drive recovery

    Hello

I started to use my nice new Satellite T110-12. How can I create a recovery disc?

Why is there that a common message on the vibration has been detected, HDD head has been moved to a safe position? Is there something wrong? I would return it before the week is up?

Please answer, thanks a lot a lot!

    Hi LindaMon,

    > How to create a recovery disk?
What about reading your user manual?
You need a 8 GB USB key for the creation of a support recovery and preinstalled Toshiba Recovery Disk Creator.

    > head drive has been moved to a safe position?
Yes, that's normal and everything is ok with your laptop. Your HARD drive will be protected by HDD/SSD Alert utility which is a nice feature of Toshiba to avoid accidents of the head and can improve the lives of the internal HARD disk.
But yoou can disable these notifications if you want. ;)

The other day, I received my new T110-121 and after a few hours use a small black dot appeared on the screen and remained in the same place since even after the computer is turned on and turn it back on.

Normally, such a thing would be I don't mind but I just bought the laptop and it's bugging me.

I was wondering if anyone would know how to solve this problem or if it's something that needs repair?

    Hello

It looks like a dead on the screen pixel.
These dead pixels are not unusual, and this could happen.

    I found this Toshiba document:
+ Information about the technology and pixel for LCD screens display fault tolerance +.
    http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/TSB9502LZ0000R01.htm

It seems that a certain pixel value is necessary in order to get the screen replaced.

  • Slow wireless connectivity with WRT54GS

If I connect to the router with a LAN, I get ~ 63Mbps, but whenever I try to go wireless, the speed goes down between 12-15Mbps (at best). There is no update of the firmware for the router, and I am at a loss to the extent where how to get the best speed via a wireless connection. FYI, I have security WPA2 value, but I don't seem to lose a lot of speed (as appropriate) as a result of the security is enabled. I REALLY want to get the best speed via a wireless connection, but I am fairly new to try to figure out what kind of things networking, any help would be appreciated!

The router is capable of speed of wireless connection reaching up to 54 Mbps. With today's ' Smart' technology, it would be a smart move, upgrade to a new router. Get a N router, if this isn't an AC, rather than keep the G one.
