Satellite U840 - missing keyboard driver / Toshiba accessibility

I have a Satellite U840 - 10 M, Windows 7 64 bit

Earlier this week, I had to boot into SafeMode due to some problems with McAfee. Since then, the drivers for the mouse pad and the keyboard have messed up.
I could find/download the drivers for the mouse, so that pad working again as it should.

But I can't find the driver for the keyboard. So for now, the backlight does not work and the FN keys do not work.

In addition, since I can't use / access Toshiba Accessibility.

Please give the link to download Toshiba accessibility or the appropriate keyboard driver.

Thank you!

I m wondering why it doesn't work just after startup laptop in safe mode.
In any case, try please reinstall extra package from Toshiba.
This package contains several tools and one of them is responsible for the functionality FN keys.

Please try this and post comments.

Does anyone know how to replace the keyboard of a satellite u840-u by myself? It seeks to be just stuck but do not know about you. In addition, my keyboard is not backlit, it would be replaced by one of the series U backlit?

    Hello

As far as I know some models of Satellite U840 was equipped with keyboard backlight.
But to my knowledge, the keyboard backlight requires extra power connector (CN20).

I guess not all U840 motherboards support this connector, and therefore the upgrade of the keyboard backlight is not possible.

With regard to the removal of the keyboard:
Yes I think the keyboard is stuck to the top box by double adhesive. If you would like to disassemble the keyboard in the top box, the keyboard deform and could not be used again.

In my opinion you should not try to remove anything. You could void the warranty and could damage other parts. I think that this procedure of disassembly must be carried out by an authorized technician.

Thank you to everyone who takes the time to read my problem.

Akuma is right. You should not install driver for keyboard functionality. Used keyboard driver Microsoft standard included in the operating system Windows XP Home/Vista edition.
So if some buttons do not work, there may be a problem with the keyboard itself and you need to replace.

  • Satellite U840-10N - Windows Installation can not see any drive

Hi all, this is my first post so I hope that I chose the right place to post in.

I just bought a new Toshiba Satellite u840-10n ultrabook. He joined WIndows 7 Home Premium 320 GB HHD + SSD of 32 GB.

Even though I prefer Linux, I need Windows because of Microsoft Visual Studio. I downloaded Visual Studio (legally throught dreamspark.com), but it looks like it has some issues. In particular, I can't create any project.

After searching the Web for this problem, I decided to try reinstalling Windows, hoping that this will solve the problem, and here's the point.

Installation process of Windows 7 can not find any drive. I looked through the web a lot to solve this problem, even, without understanding.

I read a lot of other people had the same problem. I tried different ways and I'm about to throw the laptop out the window.

Is there anyone can help me?

    See you soon,.

    Marco Galassi

You need to load the SATA driver before you start the installation of the OS. Try it please use the files from http://www.fileswap.com/dl/igfH0jVrap/

I used it on my Win8 preinstalled satellite to install Win7 64 bit. Copy it to USB and install from there.
    Please post comments.

  • Satellite C660 - TOSHIBA Accessibility error

    Hello

I recently bought a Satellite C660/C660D fine, apart from one or two minor issues (which this thread is on about). First of all, the laptop was and is still littered with loads of random software from TOSHIBA, here is a list:

    + TOSHIBA Assist +.
    + TOSHIBA Bulletin Board.
    + TOSHIBA ConfigFree +.
    + TOSHIBA Disc Creator +.
    + TOSHIBA face recognition.
+ Support utility TOSHIBA Flash Cards +.
    + TOSHIBA hardware setup +.
    + TOSHIBA HDD/SSD Alert +.
    + TOSHIBA Media Controller +.
+ TOSHIBA Media Controller plugin +.
    + TOSHIBA online product information.
+ TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator +.
+ TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator reminder +.
    + TOSHIBA ReelTime +.
    + TOSHIBA Service Station +.
    + TOSHIBA supervisor password +.
    + Toshiba TEMPRO +.
+ Package + Toshiba value added
    + TOSHIBA Web Camera Application.

Is there an ISO image of recovery pre made somewhere or do I have to make my own, because if I decide to unisntall some of these programs, I could need at a later date?

The second issue is with the TOSHIBA Accessibility application which shows the FN keys, it does not seem to start. He worked the first day then I disabled all startup TOSHIBA applications and I get the following error: "registry is missing or may be broken. ', I don't know why!

I tried cleaning the registry, as well as the registry is not broken.

    * Thanks in advance *.

    -Olivier

    Hi Olivier,.

I'm happy to hear that you are owner of laptop Toshiba too and you've discovered the forum here. We can discuss everything on laptops from Toshiba, that s interesting :)

I'll try to help you resolve this issue:

1.Yes, there is a recovery image for restore factory settings with all drivers and tools on your laptop but is important burn you this image to a blank DVD using pre-installed recovery media creator. You will get a disc with an image of Windows with all the drivers and tools => settings of the case. Thus, the same parameters as you purchased the computer.

2.i think that FN keys don t work because you have disabled some important tools Toshiba they are necessary for the FN keys. For FN keys TOSHIBA button Support and TOSHIBA Flash Cards startup items are absolutely necessary, so you should allow them and restart the computer.

  • Satellite C660-1TE - bluetooth driver missing/no works

    Hello

    Model: C660-1TE.
    OS: Windows 7 32 bit.

All of this work. Only bluetooth and touch pad has lack drivers or does not not perfectly.

Bluetooth: well I've worked to get bluetooth works for a long time and I have to do without success.

I found some drivers but these seem to be wrong or does not work. The problem is that for this model there is no bluetooth driver or what operating system I use. I found these drivers looking for the model series to see if I can find some drivers of the company that makes this bluetooth but again unsuccessfully.

So im required to get my bluetooth works and I need assistance to do so.

Then press the key. It works fine but I have no scrolling or other functions that should be for this model (looking at the box where was the laptop inside.) Yet once, I was looking around to see drivers or the appropriate drivers for Tablet touchscreen but ended once again without success.

This isn't a big deal, but at least I wand scroll, because its annoying if you have long site and you can't scroll down.

Thanks if I get some answers!

    Hello

Your laptop is equipped with an Atheros WLan / BT combo card.

    > Then press the key. It works fine but I have no scrolling or other functions that should be for this model (looking at the box where was the laptop inside.) Yet once, I was looking around to see drivers or the appropriate drivers for Tablet touchscreen but ended once again without success.

Drivers (also the touchpad) are on the page of the European driver Toshiba

    Hello

These types of problems are very strange to me, and I wonder why this happen. The fact is that the recovery image (recovery DVD) is very well set up and there is absolutely no problem with the use of the FN keys. All these functions of FN keys are tested and it should work. All the necessary services will begin with OS and you must be able to use all the key functions of the FN.

I don't want to speculate what the problem is here, but I can't imagine you have this problem on the first day.

Now the question is: why is that you get? Using the factory preinstalled OS or you have installed your own version of the OS?

  • Satellite U840 PSU4SA stuck in an infinite loop of Boot

I really hope someone can help me.

My wife's cell phone is stuck in a boot loop which is continuous.

    When you press the power button, the Toshiba logo appears, and then it goes to the screen of the BIOS with the following information;

"The operating system has not stopped cleanly.
    Reconstructiong Metadata Cache.
Please do not interrupt this process.

Reading packaged metadata in memory... Fact.
Processing the record Delta... 1 "

.. .and then it dies, returns to the Toshiba logo and repeats. Ad nauseam.

I tried to start in safe mode by pressing Fn + F12, nothing helps. I took the base of the laptop to try to remove the battery but I am no expert of PC hardware, and I didn't ruin it.

All specifications are; Toshiba Satellite U840
    Part No. PSU4SA - 015005
Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium.

I have Linux Mint, installed on a USB key. I would like to boot from USB (no CD/DVD-RW in this ultrabook) to retrieve the data if possible.

Should I remove the SSD and HARD drive? I have read a few forums who say that often have Windows 7 on the SSD can cause this problem.

    Hello

    Try this workaround:
Power of the device and press F8 key up
Now the advanced boot menu should appear where you can choose between different options.
I recommend you try the option last good known configuration.
If this does not work, try the option: my computer repair.
Here, choose the first option above.

Of course start from the live Linux USB flash memory stick would allow you to get access to data and back up important files.

    Hello

To be honest, I don't understand. You are talking about the Cd/Dvd drive missing or Dvd Toshiba player?

    Anyway, try this:

    1. access to the registry and delete the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters completely from the following registry key values:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

Reboot the laptop and wait for the CD/DVD drive would appear once again

    or

2 go to the page of the Toshiba driver and download dvd player

  • Does not begin with satellite U840-110 - Windows 7 - loop start-up

    Hello

I have been using a Satellite U840 - 110 portable since dec 2012 on a Windows 7 Home Premium operating system. Recently, the laptop was left in standby for a few days. When I tried to start the computer, it froze at the start. So I forced reboot by pressing the power button. After repeating this for a couple of times, he first showed a blue screen. Then, when the computer has been restarted, he showed a black screen with the following message

    "Windows error recovery".
Windows could not start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.
    ...
    ...
Run the Startup Repair tool or
    Start windows normally'

I have tried both these options multiple times and every time at the end of the process, he might come back to these same screen. I also tried to press F8 and used advanced and tried Boot Options "not last know good configuration."

None of this seems to work and I was not able to load Windows. I don't have a backup of my data and can end up losing a lot of vital information.

Is there anyway I can solve the problem and get the computer to work again?

Is it possible to recover data from the hard drive.

Thanks in advance for the help!

Is it possible to recover data from the hard drive.

You can remove the laptop HARD drive and could connect to another computer using USB-to-SATA cart.

After that, you could insert the HARD disk into the laptop new and could try to perform the Toshiba HDD recovery.
    (F8 - fix my computer - Toshiba-HDD recovery)

  • Satellite U840 - new installation of Windows 7

My U840-113 had a hard drive failure, and I did not all backups of the system image.
I installed a new hard drive (no problem), but go crazy trying to get Windows 7 for reinstall.

    Here is what happened...
-Install Windows 7 (service Pack 1) via CD/DVD external, accidentally installed the 32-bit version. No problem, but as I started to go to find all the drivers on the Toshiba site, I noticed some 32-bit options were absent.
-Tried to install the 64-bit version - NOTE, my Windows 7 original release, so before service Pack 1)
-Initially I got error messages indicating that the CD/DVD drivers should continue. Really?
-After research, downloaded the drivers on a CD to use as needed. Did not get this message again because I moved the CD/DVD on another port USB (one who had already given this message!)
-Got if the whole installation, and I get a message "no compatible hardware. What?
-Tried once again, the same message.
-Deletion of the Raid on the SSD drive not... no more Raids on anything!
-Tried once again, the same message.

So I'm sure that this issue has to do with the Raid drivers.

What exactly is the 'trick' to do a fresh install of Windows 7 64 bit on this machine?

I'll see if I can get 64-bit Service Pack 1 (on USB!) to try for my next attempt.

I left the PC at work, while I wouldn't rest up all night trying to get this to work.

    Thank you!

I checked the specification for your laptop and it was delivered with preinstalled Win7 64-bit Home Premium so I recommend you to reinstall Win7 64-bit. It is fully supported and all the drivers, tools and utilities, you can find and download from the Toshiba download page - http://www.toshiba.eu/innovation/download_drivers_bios.jsp
Please note that you need drivers for Satellite U840 PSU4SE.

Here, you can also download RAID driver to load before starting the installation of Win7. I imagine that without this driver drive HARD will not appear. Download and save to USB key.
Generally installing Win7 on this machine should not be a big deal. I did it on U940 without any problem.
When external ODD is connected start Notepad and press F12. Choose the CD/DVD as first boot device and confirm with the button enter. I assume you are using the original installation of the Microsoft Win7 disc, right?

Disc should be read and the installation should begin. When you see that the disc is not recognized SATA/RAID load driver and continue with the installation. Create the C partition and choose as location for the installation of the OS. I can't imagine that you will have some problems with it. On my machine, that it worked perfectly.

When Win7 is completely installed, you begin with the installation of drivers, tools and utilities. Stuf all install them as follows:
    Windows 7 SP1 of Win7
    Chipset SW installation utility
    Intel Management Engine Interface
    Intel driver
    AMD display driver
    Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver
    Synaptics Touch Pad Driver
    Intel USB3.0 driver
    IRSTCreator
    Alcor Micro Card Reader
Technology of quick start Software Intel
    Conexant Audio driver
    SRS Premium Sound
    LAN driver
    Wireless LAN driver
    Filter driver package Realtek Bluetooth
    Intel Wireless Display
    Bluetooth monitor
Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba
    TOSHIBA Value Added Package
    TOSHIBA Web Camera Application
    PatchFiles PCIIDEREG - 1.2
    PatchFiles TosVolRegulator_1.1

I hope that everything will be OK.
