Satellite Z830 - limit of wireless reception

I love my new Ultrabook but have been disappointed by the ability of wireless reception when, in an area of low signal strength.

My work laptop is not a problem in the same area. Is there a way to strengthen the capacity of the Ultrabook Z830 of Satellite to receive signals without low resistance wire?

Hello

I guess you use Notepad in dough mode means that the laptop is not connected to the power adapter.
In this case, you should disable for the WLan to save energy.
This can be done in the power of Windows 7 options.

Have a look here:
http://APS2.toshiba-tro.de/KB0/HTD12017W0001R01.htm

define a maximum return for the battery and ac adapter and test it again.
In addition, an update of the Wlan driver could contribute to improve performance.

  • Satellite Z830 - drop out Wireless adapter / conflict with USB

My Z830 Satellite has a weird problem. Wireless connectivity works well until I have plug in a usb key into the usb port 3 on the side. The wireless, then falls after a period and then it does not find the available wireless connections. It effectively kills the wireless adapter, or at least makes it less reliable.

You must restart to recover the connection. I tried with several different usb storage devices with the same result. Both wireless and usb drive work fine, but not at the same time. This occurs regardless if the use of the battery or when it is plugged. I checked the power settings to ensure there wasn't a problem there. Everything is right on install/factory in general settings, so I can't imagine that's all what I changed.

I'm at work, but I'll see if I have the same problem with the usb at the back, or a disk takes hard usb powered, when I get home. It's really annoying, because you cannot use the net and let in a usb disk without risking a fall on the. I haven't checked messing around with settings of USB root hub or from IRC, as it seems unlikely. Any thoughts or is a matter of "give it back to Toshiba" - I'd rather not have the downtime. It took me a while to work on this has been the problem.

The wireless connection is very strong when the ultrabook is used, so is not a question of signal strength.

    Hello

To be honest, I've ever read on similar issues.
Did you check if the problem occurs with other ports USB or does it use a special port of Z830 Satellite?

In your case I recommend also using HARD drive recovery option and to set the system back to factory settings to make sure that there is no software related issue.

  • Poor wireless reception

Hi, I moved my p6740f Pavilion AT & T 2wire router and now either get reception (2 bars) low or sometimes a message that there is no network to connect to.  It works fine when the computer is right beside the router.  It is now across the room, maybe 14 ft of the rounter.  Other computers at any point in the House are connected wireless very well.  Support HP told me that it was a software problem they could solve in that I bought the maintenance program.  AT & T support told me to buy a wireless adapter.  Comments on other forums suggest a relay or a booster placed somewhere between the rounter and the computer.  I wonder if someone might have some suggestions on how to get a stronger wireless reception on my desk.

    Thank you

    Steve

    Hi Steve,.

You pretty much confirmed that the problem is with your PC.  HP documents also reflect the same determination according to your description of the problem.

Your PC has the mini wireless card installed according to specifications.  Open the PC and make sure that the antenna wire (only one) is securely attached to the card.  You could also consider deleting the mini map, then reinsert it making sure that it is inserted completely.  It is possible that the card has weaken with age.

If other devices in the House will be able to operate on a different frequency band and router 2wire ATT can accommodate a change in the band, then you could give that a shot.

  • Battery for Satellite Z830-10U

    Hello

I have a Satellite Z830-10U, I LOVE & have had no problems with since I bought it 4 years ago. Just today, I get a message that there is a problem with the battery & I would like to replace it. He's dead now completely - while still working with the power supply

I searched online and cannot find a replacement. I called support of Toshiba who said I need a battery 8-cell 3200 Altair - & gave me the number for "" Topaz"technical support". They are now closed for the (big) weekend! I did a search online & Duracell sell one for the Satellite Z830 (but does not mention the 10U bit) - & description = Satellite Z830 hand 14.8V battery 8-cell 3060mAh.
Is it totally different than Altair 3200?
    I have no idea?

Why I find it so difficult to find a replacement? The guys at Toshiba said they should not have been made obsolete the again, because it's not so old?

    Any ideas please? Thank you
    Sara.

    Hello

The information that you got is just. your laptop uses 8CELL battery 3200_ALTAIRU.
In my opinion you should not ask why you can not find it so easily.

As you probably know, the manufacturers of mobile offers two types of batteries. Batteries that can be redeemed by the owner of the laptop. For these batteries, you can get the part number and order almost anywhere.

Problem is that your computer has a specific design and battery is placed under the lid. To be honest you are not allowed to remove the cover on your own as this will void your warranty.

Believe me, that the best option for you is to make the exchange of the battery with the help of the authorized service provider. It can't be so problematic for you to wait a few days and clarify all this with Toshiba service, right?

Do not remove the bottom cover on your own. Battery itself is also fixed with several screws and connected to the motherboard with low battery connector. Small mistake and you can damage something. Let the technicians to do it for you.

  • Satellite Z830-10 t - battery replacement

    Hello

I would like to know how I can replace my PC (Satellite Z830-10 t) to the Japan.

Two years ago I bought the PC in the United Kingdom, and now I'm living in the Japan.
The computer battery is not recharged and now counted more, so I think I need to replace the battery.
Then, I asked Toshiba support the Japan to replace the battery, but they refused my offer, because they deal only with products sold to the Japan.

Could someone tell me how I can replace the battery from my PC to the Japan?
Should I send the customer to the United Kingdom? If so, what is the address? How much does it cost?
Or, it may be necessary to think of the battery by myself. In this case, could someone tell me what is the battery product number?

    Thank you in advance.

    Sincerely,
    Yuki

It is not easy to give you good advice you can do. Problem is that your laptop must be disassembled and this should be done by authorized personnel only.

Perhaps, you can order battery from the United Kingdom and to ask ASP to the Japan to exchange it. It should not be problematic. I can imagine that they have a problem ordering original parts.

Try to order in the United Kingdom, or maybe you have someone who can do it for you and send it to you.

After changing the options in the BIOS, I'm on this forum and found a solution, which does not work for me.

The book u refuses everything I tried booting. USB and DVD - key in each port, BIOS everything that can be changed.

Finally, I forgot the USB-2, 5 - HD to make a connection before resetting and: Yes, it works. Acronis initialized drives, so I can join, once the Satellite is committed to start the external device.

The other thread was closed, although my solution is not mentioned. That's why I created this one.

I U940 satellite without optical disk driver and construction of my laptop is quite similar to your Satellite Z830.
I had my machine with pre-installed Win8. After the creation of recovery media (USB), I used my original external USB ODD to install my own Win7 64 bit version using the installation disc of Microsoft.
Charge after driver SATA I ve installed Windows successfully. External USB ODD has been properly recognized and everything worked OK.

The only thing I've changed was secure boot option in the BIOS.

I have this computer with a SSD 128 GB wit 4 go on it:

    1: recovery partition
    2: partition of Hyberanation
    3. primary partion:
    4. first partition, primary partition:

What happens if I delete Hibernation partition and the small primary partition? then I should win more space free expansion the main one...
    Has anyone tried it?

    Thank you
    -Marco

    Hello

In General, after the creation of recovery disks, you can do with HARD drive and partitions that you want. You can even delete the recovery partition to get more free space.

After doing this, you will not be able to use the installation of HARD drive recovery. With other words, you will not be able to install original Toshiba Recovery HARD drive image. Recovery DVD created using you can do it whenever you want.

  • Satellite Z830 - 11 H, no options in the Recovery Wizard (seed F8 menu).

    Hello!

I am trying to restore my Satellite Z830 - 11 H parameters using the F8 menu before starting.

However, when I try to click on the Toshiba Recovery Wizard I get the window where I should be able to choose which process I want to (software factory or remove disk recovery) but instead, I have no choice.

It's just empty. Do you have anyone encountered this problem before?
If you have other strategies to restore factory settings, I will be happy!

    Hello

Did you change the HARD drive or do you remove some recovery files, the files from the HARD drive in the past?

Usually, you should be able to start the recovery disc HARD pressing F8, then choosing fix my computer-> Toshiba HDD recovery (last option)

In the case of the HARD disk isn't possible, the laptop recovery recover using recovery media (DVD or USB flash memory stick).
This support could be created using tool called Recovery Media Creator Toshiba

  • Satellite Z830 - unrecognized 32 GB SDHC card

I have a Satellite Z830 with the SD card reader.

Sheets said he read SDHC cards, so I bought a Transcend 32 Gb SDHC card to put all my music. When I plug it into the laptop SD card reader there is no nothing - nothing show in Windows Explorer or disk management. It's as if the reader doesn't even know a card is inserted.

However, if I put the card in a SD USB card reader and plug it into the USB port, the computer sees the card very well. I can copy files to and from it. Is this a driver problem, or is this hardware connected?

    Hello

According to the user manual, the internal card reader supports SD card (8 MB - 2 GB), SDHC (4 GB - 32 GB) and SDXC (64 GB).
So you should be able to use the 32 GB card with no big problems.

If the SDHC card works in other books, then I would say that this s a compatibility issue that's one and only a plausible explanation for me maybe, you should test another card from another manufacturer under Z830 32 GB SDHC.

  • Satellite Z830 - update of the BIOS under Linux?

    Hello

I recently bought a Satellite z830, which I am very happy.

Given that requires it my work, I wiped the hard drive and installed Ubuntu linux instead of the default Windows installation.
Now I want to update the BIOS with the latest version, but unfortunately it is only available as a windows .exe

Is it possible to upgrade the version of BIOS using only Ubuntu?

    Thank you

    -Chris

Since the European driver page Toshiba simply provides a Win-based BIOS update version, you'll need an OS running in the window to update the BIOS-based victory. :(

  • Satellite Z830-10 - electric shock during loading

I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite Z830-10 PC World UK. I am experience constant electric shock when my wrist touch the body of the laptop during charging with the adapter. No problem when it's on battery power.

Another company have replaced their laptop problem with 3 sheets for all their customers. My adapter is indeed with 2 poles.

One of my friends owns a Z830, but as much as I know it has not experienced a similar problem.

  • Satellite Z830 - I wonder if the motherboard supports more than 6 GB of memory

    Hey, I bought a Toshiba Satellite Z830-10w. It's a fine ultrabook.
I wonder if the motherboard supports more than 6 GB of ddr ram.

Have some of you tried it with a block of 8 GB of RAM Regand flemming

    > I wonder if the motherboard supports more than 6 GB of ddr ram.

The chipset is responsible for the RAM
Therefore, know if the chipset would support the 6 GB of RAM.

Z830-10w supports the Intel HM65 Express Mobile Chipset and it should support the 8 GB of RAM

To my knowledge the unit is equipped with a 2 GB internal RAM that is NOT removable.
You can update ONLY one slot
So one slot can handle 4 GB of RAM, and in this case the 6 GB of RAM are supported.

  • Satellite Z830-10U power not on

    Greetings;

I connected my Satellite Z830-10U in power and left it running for half an hour and then I saw him as Eve extended (screen off). Then it was left for 20 hours of yesterday, plugged into the power outlet... There now
its 'DC in' orange indicator flashing, power indicator light is green regularly, that the eco indicator is also on and green. The screen is off, and it's like the shutdown of the system.

The problem is that the power botton is not working and pressing (whether for a short or long period) has no
effect. I plug the AC power adapter when you are connected to the computer and I see that the battery indicator is
Green and stays until I have unplug the adapter from socket or unplug charger from
    computer.

How can I turn it on and get my files back?

    Thanks in advance.
    Mr. shams

    > How to start and recover my files?
Well, the files are on the HARD drive
So you can remove the laptop HARD drive and you can use an external USB to SATA controller /enclosure in order to connect the HARD drive to a different computer.
It would be the best way to get access to files

The other story is the feature of laptop power
To me it seems that his question in such cases and related equipment the unit needs are checked by technician I hope that this is not a motherboard because in this case you must replace the mobo and it could be a costly affair

    Guarantee is valid?
