Saving audio settings of Windows Movie Maker in the film project file

I understand how to adjust the volume of my audio track, but when I save the file, in the sound adjustments are not saved.  Is there an extra step in the audio recording?

Hi Gmamma,

Try the two methods mentioned below if you don't him have not yet tried and check if it works.

Method 1

The audio settings by default in Windows Movie Maker is for the audio portion of imported video and any narration or music that you add to play at an equal level, but you can change that setting if it does not give you the balance that you want. To adjust the audio levels, follow these steps:

(a) click Tools, and then click Audio levels.

(b) do one of the following:

to increase the level of audio on the Audio track that is part of a video clip, drag the slider toward Audio from video.

II. to increase the level of audio that is located on the audio / music, drag the slider to Audio / Music.

(c) click on close.

Method 2

Adjust the volume of each audio clip individually, as follows:

1. on the track Audio or Audio / Music of the timeline, select the audio clip that you want to adjust the volume.

2. click on Clip, point to Audio, and then click Volume.

3. to adjust the volume, do one of the following:

·        To reduce the volume, drag the Audio volume level slider to the left.

·        To increase the volume, drag the Audio volume level slider to the right.

·        To cut the video, select the Mute clip check box.

·        To restore the volume to the original volume, click reset.

  • Window Movie Maker will import my .mpg file, but will not play audio.

I used Windows Movie Maker 2.6, Vista and Live for many years and I've always been able to convert my files to .wmv with ease. My old computer recently crashed and I reinstalled the program and codec I had on my new machine.

A week ago, I was import and conversion of some files to .mpg without problem what-so-ever, but when I import my .mpg files now, I receive one of the following scenarios:
    (1) ".mpg is an empty file." (2.6)
    (2) the video works fine, but there is no audio data. Yet, if I play in Windows Media Player or any other program, I get the audio without problem. (Vista and Live)
    (3) I also run Magix Movie Edit Pro 15, but when it exports to .wmv, the video is distorted / restless (even with the anti-flicker filter on).

I have uninstalled and reinstalled my codecs several times, went to the compatibility of the Menus and tried to post the video to see if the audio could have a defect in playback of the program, but without success.

    Hello

I suggest you to post your query on Windows/entertainment and Connected Home forum on the issue.

  • Audio setting in Windows Movie Maker XP

Hello! I imported a video with audio from a DVD into Movie Maker XP. The audio of the original source is not very good and I was wondering if it is possible to adjust it in Movie Maker.

Movie Maker has the ability to adjust/change the audio? If so, how can I do that?

In Movie Maker, audio editing options are mute, melted
    in, fade, volume and split.

The volume... with a view to the timeline... right click on the Audio
follow and choose the Volume on the menu... and then drag the

  • Using Windows Movie Maker on the error message XP__ not indexed _ bad quality

I use Windows Movie Maker XP (version 2.1?).  I've converted and imported a lot of videos.  I have a group of short videos recorded the same day.  I (with free STROKE) converted to AVI and they play with no audio and several play accelerated.  I've then diverted to ASF and some of them imported correctly.  Most of them gave me an error message that they were not indexed.  I downloaded several things to remedy this from online forums: I uninstalled K-Lite pack codec, Expression Encoder 4, WinDVR AVI, DivFix, lame and a number of things.  That's a family movie, I spent a lot of time on it.  If anyone can help with my old hardware and software configuration at this point I'd appreciate it.  The original film seems to be of much better quality than what I am able to import.  Thank you!

The most reliable video format for Movie Maker is. WMV.

No guarantee... but the following freeware converter
    may be worth a try:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Sothink Free Video Converter
    http://www.Sothinkmedia.com/video-converter/
    (Windows XP / Vista / 7)

You will need to unzip the file... or you could just drag
the Setup.exe from the file out of the folder and drop it on your
    desktop and install from there.

Once installed... Open Sothink and go to... Add the files button...
Find and select the clips you want to convert.

Next... in the encoding settings... Choose... Video credits.
WMV - Windows Media Video (*.wmv).

Choose an output folder and on the left, click on the button convert.

You can experiment with other settings later but
This should help you get started.

    Good luck...

  • Windows Movie Maker do not accept avi files

I downloaded Windows Movie Maker 2.6, because it is compatible with Windows 7. This worked perfectly first freezing then began after a while. When I tried to work on a video recently, nothing would download to my collections audio tracks but when I tried to download avi files. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but also to repair but nothing works. I struggled with the program for a week. Can I do to solve this problem?

There are many types of files .avi and many if not most
have problems of compatibility with Movie Maker.

Which version of Win 7 are you running?

I was wondering why you use Movie Maker 2.6
instead of Windows Live Movie Maker?

What is the duration of these .avi files? (large complex
    projects can cause siiues)

Have you tried to convert the .avi files to .wmv format
before you import into Movie Maker?

In Movie Maker... it may be worth trying to go to... Tools /.
Options / Compatibility tab and disable all filters / OK.

Failure to improve the question... go to Tools / Options /.
Left and the Compatibility tab, click on the 'all the default settings.
    button.

  • Cannot open a project in Windows Movie Maker after the backup in Windows DVD Maker

I imported with success of media in Windows Movie Maker, Movie published by using Windows DVD Maker as a guest just so that I could see how it would look.  I was able to view what I had engraved on a DVD and was very happy about how he already produces.  When I returned to Windows Movie Maker and tried to open my project to continue adding multimedia elements to it, I can't open it - it tells me that it is not a valid file in Windows Movie Maker.  Can find my project in My Documents in the category Videos, I'm still not able to open it.  I wonder if I shouldn't have saved in Windows DVD Maker.  I hope that I'm not "all over again.

I would greatly greatly appreciate it if anyone can help.  It is a very special project for a class reunion.

This is the first time I used a forum so I hope I've submitted it correctly.

    Thank you!

    NancyLouse,

Windows DVD Maker and Movie Maker store files with different file extensions.  This means that if you named the file 'file Movie Maker' and the DVD Maker 'file' file the real file names would actually file. MSWMM and file. MSDVD

To display the extensions on all the files follow these steps:
-Click on the ORB to start and Control Panel
-In Control Panel, click Classic view in the upper left corner
-Click on Folder Options, click view
-Scroll to "Hide Extensions for known Types file" and uncheck this box

The search in the folder now where you saved these files or use the search function, you should see the 2 different files.

What version of Windows are you using?  If the Windows Vista Ultimate and the file has been deleted somehow you can be lucky.

Vista Ultimate is a feature called previous versions.  To restore the file back to it's previous state, you can do a right click on the folder where the document has been stored (if the Documents may start, right-click on Documents) then go to properties

-Click the previous versions and you will see the dates corresponding to previous versions of the file you are looking at.
-Select a date and time that corresponds to when the file in this folder was in operational condition and double-click the file to open it

Find the file in the folder newly open and drag the file to your desktop (be sure not to drag to the exact location where the file was initially as not to overwrite the file).

    I hope this helps

  • Windows Movie Maker won't play .mpg - files.

When I import a mpg file in Windows Movie Maker, I can hear the audio but can't see the video. It is particularly strange, because my mpg files work well in Windows Media Player.  What can I do? I have installed hundreds of codecs and it still does not work.

    Audio--> OK
    Video--> NO

Windows Media Player--> video + audio
Windows Movie Maker--> audio (NO video)?

    Hi tom,

Thanks for using the Community Forums of Microsoft for Vista.

Normally, something like that, the problem is resolved by downloading and reinstalling the latest MS codec packs.

In this case, however, I think the problem is conflicting codec installations.

I think you should start by restoring the system running and to cancel most of the codec installations. Go back to the extent that is reasonable and see if that helps.

If not, then download the latest codec for your multimedia player by Microsoft and see if that does the trick.

I think that will do, let us know whether.

  • Windows Movie Maker cut the end of the clips. Help! Why is this happening?

I don't understand why this is happening.  I used Windows Movie Maker with VISTA Home Premium often enough.  The images come from the camera I've always used.

I have a 64-bit computer, where this is relevant.

I'm working on a new project and twice now, Windows Movie Maker doesn't cut the end of a clip.  I don't get any notification that something is wrong.  It will not just clip the end.

Why is the happening?  What should I do?

    Thank you.
