scams on windows on the phone

Today, I got a call from a stranger who told me there is unusual activity on my windows account. He asked me to start my computer. At this point I cut him. Is it a standard scam?

Yes,

It's a scam. Microsoft does not call you if you ask them to call you.

Don't be fooled of unsolicited calls. Don't provide personal information.

  • Received the phone call from 'Computer Maintenance of Windows operating system', is it a scam?

    Original title: scam or not

I just got the phone is off "Windows OS computer maintenance required", I went through the senario execution because I apparently files may contain a virus.  I got a number to call back and ask for Henry 02 80060075 apparently in Sydney.  I remembered and has a call center responded in the form of windows.  After going through several id checks which they knew my CLSID number but one of them that I take now is the same number for many people.  In any case I tell them I work for a COMPUTER company and would take my computer to work with them check.  The guy said that he did not believe I worked for a COMPUTER company, because I did not understand what they are trying to help me for a very small cost of AUD $110.  After a long debate and tell him, I thought it was a scam I hung up.

So my question is: Windows to call Manila on a Saturday night at 5:30?

It is a popular scam. Microsoft has no unsolicited phone calls. You should read the very first post on this forum.

  • I have just started with a new internet provider and get phone calls from a source to say that they are windows and the need to access my computer because its infected in windows. It is this true.

I have just started with a new internet provider and get phone calls from a source to say that they are windows and the need to access my computer because its infected in windows. It is this true.

No, it's a scam, ignore the call.

Just hang up, they are trying to steal your information or to install a virus on your PC.

  • Received the phone call from support, is this a scam?

Just got a "phone call from an Indian call center, arguing that my PC send malicious messages. They wanted me to run a Prefetch. I pretended that I he had just had a power cut and could not operate my computer. After asking SEVEN times how he got my ' phone he hung up.

Just got a "phone call from an Indian call center, arguing that my PC send malicious messages. They wanted me to run a Prefetch. I pretended that I he had just had a power cut and could not operate my computer. After asking SEVEN times how he got my ' phone he hung up.

I had 4 phone calls during the month. The first, I was late for an appointment, and I had to go. Fortunately, I had time to think and realized it was a scam... Be caught unawares gives them the advantage

The second, I knew it was a scam. I listened and then never said thank you and hung up.

During the 4th, I was ready for a little fun. First of all, I unplugged the ethernet from the modem, just to be doubley sure.

He guided me through his wicked manouevers, and every time I lied I did. When it asked me to press the Microsoft icon to the right of the Ctrl key and 1, I said "I have an Apple on this key". He said 'you have a Mac. I said: 'no, I have Windows to the top. Microsoft icon beside the right Ctrl key. I can get my Mac computer to Windows with these keys. "He said"I'm confused"I answered:"have you not heard of the latest technology. It's called the computer Jekyll and Mr Hyde' at this stage that he hung up.

The longer you keep him talking, the greatest of his phone bill will be and it loses time to scam someone else.

  • Received the phone call from scam of asking to connect to the computer

A man with a voice of Indian call center called and asked my friend to connect to his computer because they knew that she had had problems with the help and he called for a "windows service center.  She asked for a number to call back and he hung up.  There is a phishing scam rightnow?

It is a phishing attempt! Do not give any information.

Reported people on these calls for a person who represents Windows (note: not Microsoft).

It is a scam! Not to follow their instructions or advice and not to provide ANY information to them.

Because they use the internet lines and/or phone to complete their fraud, there may be federal agencies in your country who are interested in discovering their calls. Their report directly to the appropriate agency if you feel you can contribute to their arrest and the charges.

Microsoft do NOT pick up the phone and start dialing customers and never phones/e-mails asking for personal information or asking them to visit a web site!

  • Are the phone calls that I get who claims to be a ' windows computer support "legitimate?

I received phone calls from someone saying that it is of "support windows computer.  He said my computer sends error messages and I have malware on my computer and he wants me to run www.ammyy.com (remote desktop software) to allow them to get rid of it for me.  Her accent is very strong, so I can hardly understand him.  Is this a legitimate call from a person in charge of Windows to the actual address?

Fake phone calls to technical support

Calls unrequested telephone of this nature are almost always a common scam. Do not let them give any info, do not give access to your PC, not give them all the money and do not go to all the websites that they suggest. One moment.

    Please see:

    http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/security/online-privacy/msname.aspx .

Microsoft issues never not solicited for phone calls of support or security.

These types of callers can use completely fictitious names or bogusly claim to be of real companies other than Microsoft as well.

  • iTunes does not recognize my iPhone on my HP Pavilion Windows 10 5s, so cannot sync the phone, which has the latest operating system running

iTunes does not recognize my iPhone on my HP Pavilion Windows 10 5s, so cannot sync the phone running. I downloaded the latest OS for the phone and the latest version of iTunes on my PC and have tried all USB ports several times. I also reinstalled drivers USB to the PC.  The phone is recognized on the computer of a friend under Win 7. All shows when I plug it on mine is a page showing the 'Apple iPhone' folder display of storage internal (2.18 GB free of 14.7 GB). Troubleshooting in devices and printers, where the phone displays as "Not specified Apple iPhone" generates a message saying that "Apple iPhone is an older USB device and may not work with USB 3.0 and plug it into a USB 2.0 port." But when I use USB 2.0 (I tried several times using each of the three USB ports on my PC), troubleshooting the error message says "Apple iPhone won't work correctly with USB 3.0." This seems to be a recent problem, since in March 2016, I could spend a few songs from my PC to my phone using iTunes.

I wish I had some ideas of people who have experienced this problem, I find to be a more frustrating one.

Well, you aren't the only one. This just freakin happened to me. I spent the last three hours with apple and Windows supports. Now I'm reinstalling Windows 10 by last resort of Windows support councils. I got the same message USB. In iTunes, under devices something removed my 5s and the iPad. But it remains 6 s wife. I tried my computers 2-(SS) 3.0 ports and 1 port 2.0 ordinary. I tried all four thinners cables I have. I will let you know the result of the Windows reinstall.

  • Someone took control of the PC, after receiving the phone call scam

My family got a call from someone who said they could solve its Windows problems-she had not reported it. They he kept on the phone for an hour, asking him do things on his PC, then it said to turn and they would be back ring. She could see the displacement slider and study programs. I checked this forum (brilliant ease) and after reading some posts I advised her to stop everything and ring of his bank to check its details would be safe. The hoaxters rang her back, was annoyed when she told them that she believed they are fraudsters. They claimed to be true and asked for the money for the work they had done. She hung up. They rang again and hung up when her husband answered. What are the measures that it should take now? Can report it? These people are not the phone ring every few minutes. My rels do not meet good course but it is ruining their day.
