Scanner Canon lost in the system of preferences

Scanner Canon 9000f mk 11. have connected via USB. It seems to have disappeared from system preferences, even if it's to show that connected to the reporting system. I can still use it through. Scanning speed and Image garden but I preferred to use it through. the operating system. I prefer the interface. Tried to restart and reconnect the USB without success. It was working fine yesterday. Must have clicked on something I shouldn't. The operating system. seems to have lost track of it.

Any ideas would be welcome. Thank you.

Are you saying that it is not in the system preferences-> printers and Scanners?

  • Update lost because the system restore - can't find it!

Gnnnnn! Cannot find the Defender Update KB915597 def 1.111.1823.0 to reinstall. Installed with Vista Update KB2607712 on September 12, 2011 and cannot start. You had to do in safe mode system restore. Concerned not sure without defender update and that Vista needs updating too. Have you tried a lot of research to find the update of Defender to download, please, where is he? Do I really need them? Do not understand the DigiNotar info on the site of Ms. I guess it was the Vista that caused the problem, but I don't know, try them separately, but cannot find the update of Defender. Thanks to you all

A system restore does not remove Windows Defender definitions. I hope that you do not use WIndows Defender to safety as it monitors only a limited category of threats. You should run an antivirus so or you must replace it with Microsoft Security Essentials.

Latest definitions can be downloaded here:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/portal/definitions/HowToWD.aspx

KB2607712 has been replaced by KB2616676.

You are unlikely to be affected by the problem of DigiNotar unless you are based in Iran or in the Netherlands.

  • I got lost in the system, somehow. I downloaded Acrobat XI. What to do next?

I'm looking to convert existing documents to PDF format. I thought that the trial version of Acrobat is what I needed. An agent ha redirected me to the download of cloud. All I want is a tutorial how to create PDF files, in any program.

    Any suggestions?

    My thanks

Two ways to make a PDF with Acrobat:

    • Print the web page of documents / you have open (Ctrl + P on Windows, Cmd + P on Mac OS X) and switch the printer to PDF format.
    • Launch Acrobat and choose file > Create > combine files into a single PDF file.

  • I lost all the files in the Inbox 2 times. On a new system with Win 8.1

At startup, the system goes into "repair disk" for a few minutes then start normally.
The only thing that seems to be missing is files in thunderbird Inbox.
The system is a k450e from Lenovo. It happened first in September about 3 weeks after
migration of e-mail to the new system. Then happened again today. (11/7) Lenovo tech
support has been no help. They suggested to reinstall thunderbird. They thought that
    I get an "incompatible" version
I'm under the last worm (31.2.0). I have 3 email accounts set up. Yesterday, I delete a lot of files in the Inbox on one of ID. In both cases, the active 2 accounts inboxes have been lost. The Inbox on the inactive account seems ok. That account did not receive all the messages on this system. Also, I never made the "file compression".
or what ever it is called in thunderbird on this system...
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

You should compact records regularly and frequently.

  • Does not open the system preferences of the Apple menu

Anyone know of a good solution for this?

A few weeks ago I started noticing that I couldn't open my application system preferences in the Apple Menu bar (via the Apple logo > system, or via the WiFi icon Preferences > network, or even Preferences by right-clicking on the desktop to change the desktop background, etc.).

    WHAT WORKS:

I can open the system preferences if I click directly on the application icon or you try to open it from the dock.

I can open the app in the Apple menu if I register as another user.

    WHAT DOES NOT WORK:

The problem does not go away when I restart in mode 'start '.

The problem does not go away when I run disk utility.

The problem does not go away when I remove the "Finder" and "System Preferences".plist file in the Preferences folder in the user's library.

The problem does not go away when I remove the files "Preferences panel" bury of the Cache in the user's library folder.

The problem does not go away when I zap the PRAM.

The problem does not go far if I replace the system preferences application from a recent backup.

I was about to just try and re-install the MacOS, but thought I would try the forums first, since the Apple Support site said that it should not be necessary if the problem is only limited to a user's profile. I found a lot of entries in the forums for this issue dated a few years ago and have tried most of the solutions, but I don't think that you can repair the permissions of the disc more on El Capitan.

Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Given all of the things you tried that don't work, over time it would take to troubleshoot more, you could restore OS X in 45 minutes to an hour on a broadband connection using OS X Recovery.

Start your Mac while pressing the command + R keys. From there, you should be able to access the built in utility to verify and repair the disk from startup (if necessary) and OS X using OS X recoveryof restoration.

In the menu bar, you select

     ▹ System Preferences... ▹ Security & Privacy

If there is a padlock icon in the lower left corner of the preferences window, click on it and enter your login password when you are prompted.

Click on the Advanced button and in the leaf that opens, uncheck the box marked

  • updates Internet 6 lost in the preformed system recovery

I had updated all my service packs and updates microsoft when I accidentally made a recovery of the system instead of restore to earlier date, I lost everything I need service packs ecxt.

The best way to proceed is to keep going to the Microsoft Update Web site and it works until there is no more Important updates on the left.

If you want a few shortcuts:
    Windows XP SP3
    Internet explore 8
    .NET framework 4

Run and install the three above in that order (SP3, IE8, .NET 4) and heading to the Microsoft Update Web site will give you the best time in obtaining all the updates that are installed.

    Thank you.

Help us understand what "I lost the ability to restore the system" actually mean for you...

Are you unable to launch/open the system restore?
Are you unable to create a new Restore Point manually?
Your system restore calendar is empty dates?
You preform a restore and get a message that has failed or nothing has changed?

If the restore in safe mode will not do, keep reading:

It would be useful to know a few things about your system:

What is your system brand and model?

Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination?  (this includes the plug pulling, buttons power, remove the battery, etc.)

The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?

You have a genuine XP installation CD bootable, which is the same Service as your installed Service Pack (this is not the same as any recovery CD provided with your system)?

What do you see (exactly) that you don't think you should see, and when you see it?

What do not you think that you should see?

If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?

  • How to restore a significant update to Windows 7 I lost after a restart for an earlier version of the system restore point?

I am running Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 on a desktop HP Pavilion Elite HPE-350 t. Recently, a malfunction of Windows at startup caused my father reboot the system to a previous system restore point. (He says it was one of several options at startup.) Everything seems to work fine now except that I seem to have lost a critical update Windows downloaded after the restore point, Windows Update Agent 7.6.7600.256. Still, there are in my Windows update history and is listed as "installed successfully", but when I check my updates installed, it is absent. Also, when I try to search for updates installed, I get a message indicating that Windows is up-to-date. I can't uninstall the update and re - install because it is missing from my list of installed updates. So I guess that the re-start to a previous system restore point has put this important WIndows update in limbo. How can ensure me that this update is installed correctly and working properly?

    Hello hakimbenzakis,

Absolutely, because based on that you are running the latest version of the Windows Update Agent and have the last update to it.

  • After a virus, I've lost the system restore for cannot defragment now. Also lost system tools/options.

Original title: after a virus, I've lost the system restore for cannot defragment now

I had a virus which caused problems one of the minor being I've lost the system tools. It now says its empty when I open it.

You don't need system defragmentation tools.

You can defragment from the hard drive, then right-click of your hard drive, properties, tools, defragment now.

Of course, you must fix your missing tools too.

Here's the easiest way I know (thank you, Ramesh):

Part of the answer to the technical support engineer Microsoft does not too which make me think that the MSE has never actually tested this Board to see if it actually works or not.  It's a shame.

In addition, these shortcuts are not part in the folder in any case.  These things must go in the folder for all users - if you don't want your XP to be ignored.  It is a source of embarrassment.

I don't know what you used to remove the virus, but I could do that at some point (soon):

Download, install, update and do a full scan with these free malware detection programs:
    Malwarebytes (MMFA): http://malwarebytes.org/
    SUPERAntiSpyware: (SAS): http://www.superantispyware.com/
They can be uninstalled later if you wish.
