I understand since the upgrade of the OS to 10.9 Mavericks you get an error "sorry scanner could not be initialized" with your HP Officejet J6480. After some research, there is no complete abailable features of software and drivers for the J6480 JO, that said that the printer would have been installed using the Apple updates.   When I try to open a HP Device Manager scan job, Scan Pro application opens, but the error message says "Sorry, scanner could not be initialized" and "scanner not found." The button new analysis on Scan Pro window is not active, nor is the new analysis options in the drop-down scan menu.

  I had a HP complete uninstall using the ctrl-option-Apple key method, reinstalled the software, unchecked and re-selected printer in the preferences system, checked power and USB cables and so forth, but the scanner still does not work. The functions of the printer are working effectively.

  I am running OSX 10.4.11 on a 1.07 GHz PowerPC G4

  Control-click the button on the right print queue opens the Deskjet F4400 printer; I can't find an option "Reset Printing System". Control-click in the box of the print/fax area with the list of printers don't open any new windows or provide no option.   I'm running the L7780 of a MacBook Pro, using the wired ethernet connection.  I checked the S/W updates and was assured that my software is up to date.

  The network to the ethernet L7780 connector light is on, and as other L7780 functions still work, I conclude that the network is not the problem.  How the other functions of the L7780 would be on the net, but the scanner being "not found.   Where should I look next?

  Reload the software on the computer corrects the problem.

  I have HP Officejet 5610 all-in-one printing and I use OS X 10.6.8.  I tried to launch the CD supplied with the printer, but that he would be stuck after a few percentage of the installation.  I repeated this process of restarting the laptop and unplug the printer to reset.  Nothing worked so I used the download software/driver online and everything was set up beautifully.  Now, when I tried to analyze one of my papers it says "scanner could not be initialized" because the scanner was not found.

  

  Any help is appreciated, I just need this scanner upward and the work.

  The HP Scan Pro is a very old application for Mac SO X 10.4 or 10.5 and not for your current operating system.

  From the Applications folder go to Hewlett-Packard and follow the HP uninstaller program to remove the old software on your Mac.

  Once you are done, download and install the latest version of the software for OS X 10.6 from the following link, then you can scan using the HP scanning software:

  We bougth a M276nw MFP that is not be discovered as a scanner on MAC 10.9.  Several things were done with resolve them the probem.

  1 reset the printing system

  2 reinstall the most recent drivers: HP-LaserJet-SW-OSX - Mavericks_v12.34.45

  But stil scanner not discovered beng.

  Problem is solved, two things have changed:

  1 jumbo last updated on MAC OS

  2. the wireless access point has been replaced by a new one.

  5 years ago I had a HP inkjet printer and after that it has been installed, I never got the scanner to work. I always had an error message (do not remember the wording). Last month, I had a new HP laserjet printer with a scanner and it is installed, but still once, I get an error message when it comes to scanning. This message says that there is no scanner found on my computer.

  Today, in the control panel of the printer, I could open the analysis option. It seems that the only options are to send the scan of an email or having the scan sent to a flashdrive (USB port). So, if I want to scan a photo, how do I just scan the image and save it to my documents? Why is the only option to send it in an email or a flash drive, or a network folder? If I try to access the scanner to my computer (instead of using the Panel on the front of the printer), it looks not to the scanner is connected to the computer, even if it is (I went into System Preferences and found the printer and the printer and scanner are connected with this new printer).

  So, my question is double; why I get this message saying my scanner is not on my computer and is the only way to use the scanner is to him have connected to the internet or to a USB port, and if so, how do I connect it to my e-mail address or the network? I guess I have to send the scanned image to myself if I want it on my computer or save it on a USB? Thanks for any help.

  I need help, it's driving me crazy. The last time I've used this scanner was a few days ago and now its does not work.

  I'm Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan with HP Scanjet G4010, it's a plugin via the USB port.

  I went on HP website for maybe update the driver, it seems that one does not exist?

  I have unplugged and restarted twice and re-downloaded the 10.10 OS driver, just in case and nothing.

  If I run the application image capture and the scanner appears under devices, research for a minute, then says "no camera or scanner connected."

  Any compatible OS listed in the download section, it is incompatible with El Capitan.

  You can try the drivers of Yosemite and check if they might work on the newer operating system:

  You can give also the 3rd party VueScan request a test, it seems to support your scanner without the need of additional drivers:

  When I install my colorpage-SF600scanner. And when I stopped and bring it back up it does not find the scanner. And since he did install I have a problem with the resolution of my monitor. Whenever I repair it, with 2 screens it immediately goes with the way he has been. Any suggestions? And then I scan my laptop it says I have 9 drivers that are obsolete.   I had to remove the drivers and the software once.  I have re-installed, but now the printer works fine and when I try to run a scan of the computer or the printer they don't know each other and I can't scan.

  It fixed...  I had asked a computer specialist to look at and he cheated by creating IP port and tell the PC to print via the port.  Although the sweep of the network was suspended on that port.  Installed the printer via a USB cable and then removed from the printer and reomved first which stood on the IP port.  Once it is I installed the printer again and scan network found the printer immediately and went big.

  In 10.6 you do not use the HP software to scan, use Preview or Capture of Image.  Search for your printer on the left column, select it and go from there.

  If this does not work, there are other things we can do.

  Please specify exactly what you're trying to do. What you say makes no sense. To scan an image, you need a scanner. A scanner is a bit like a camera. You put a piece of paper in the scanner and it 'take a picture' of it and save the image. This process is called "scanning".

  The HP Scan Pro is not scheduled for OX X 10.6, so the installed software is not one that is suitable for your OS.

  Follow these steps to remove the printer driver and software:

  Printer: hp psc 1210xi all in one and 1300 series.

  Does not scan. Said the scanner uninitialized or the scanner not found. It's a problem all of a sudden. Everything worked to find on the 1210 printer. When I changed to the 1300, this has happened. Probably will happen on any hp printer. Tried all the solutions on the site of hp, nothing done.

  According to HP (see link to support & drivers at the top of this page) none of these printers is supported under 10.5.  They are pretty old printers, maybe time for an upgrade?

  My scanner hp scanjet 5370 stopped working for more than a year. When I run the software to scan, I get an information window: "sorry, scanner could not be initialized. (Scanner not found) ». I recently decided to solve the problem by searching the internet and performing recommended procedures. I decided on the execution of a sequence of manual procedures described on the site of HP. The procedure should have been since we used the same contour, but the results were the same. They are predictable and rpeatable. Remember that two people were using different systems. This suggests that the hardware/software was never developed to be compatible. I've never seen this reported by U.S. companies, but someone at Microsoft, Hp, or Set USB controller chip provider, has missed something. I have a Canon MP160 printer with a scanner, and I uninstalled it to avoid confussion and conflicts of the functions of the scanner. Allowed me to see the HP Scanner in my control panel, but the system could not find when I tried to use the HP scanning software or the Windows Scan function either. Both returned the message, 'I just can't find the scanner, and you can't make me "... As a 'sidebar', I got a few programs USBView, which shows me the scanner with the 'I', information icon. Also that displays the data string for the scanner, and it contained 03f0 for the ID of Hewlett Packard and 0701 for model 5370. But apparetnly it is always a problem with recognition of the scanner. The individual that I mentioned above, who did the same procedures I did, also mentioned that the scanner has stopped working after the installation of SP3. I don't have the connection because it had been a while since I tried to use the scanner, but that time would be about right. Either way, this scanner has worked at the same time, but not always the same. I have to disconnect and connect sometimes, when I wanted to use it. So if someone has a "Workaround", I would hear about it. OH, I also tried "VueScan", but it doesn't work anymore.
