Scheduled task does not play if already open WMP, trying to avoid manual close

I'm in a work centre that will make announcements every day on a speaker system that is run by windows media player. I set up a scheduled task to all files that will play, but once the said file is played WMP does not close automatically. This does not seem like a problem, but if nobody closes on WMP, the next scheduled task will not - play which completely defeated the purpose to automate the process and our workers will have to still remember to close WMP 3 or 4 times a day, otherwise nobody gets the announcement.

I have tried implementing a command line with /play wmplayer start/close c:myfile.wav as an executable file and run it with the Task Scheduler instead of the wav file... it did not work. Namely, the /close function was abandoned with WMP.

Is it possible that I can continue to use WMP and completely automate this process without the manual close WMP after each scheduled task?

  • Scheduled task does not exist, yet still short

Some time ago I implemented a simple batch file as a task scheduled to run at 07:00 every day, and he does so since then.  It starts DTExec.exe to do a load of data and send me an email when it is successful.

Now I want to change the run time - but I can't find work anywhere!  I do not see it in Task Scheduler (and yes I putShow hidden tasks ), the task name appears nowhere in \Windows\Tasks or \Windows\System32\Tasks

No schedule in such a way does seem to exist - yet the task always runs daily so there must be somewhere!  If not, where can I get?

(It's on Windows 7 Home Premium, and my account does not have administrator rights. The task of the TA is configured to use the system account.)

More info: looking at the logs with Event Viewer, I see in the application log an entry at 07:00:22 to SQLISPackage100 that says that my task is completed then.

But the newspaper Windows/TaskScheduler operational, there is no event at 7:00!  There is something to 06:52 then the following entry is RacTask starting at 07:14:16

Is there something in windows that can perform tasks of the user to fire time OTHER than Task Scheduler?  Maybe I'm looking at the bad service?
Ah - that's all!  Opened by SQL Agent jobs do not appear in the list of Task Scheduler (and I had forgotten that I would be implemented in this way).

  • Why scheduled task does not?

I put the same tasks schduled for different periods, certain tasks of work, but some tasks do not work.

and I checked all the settings, which are identical except for periods of time.

Anyone have any suggestions on what evil is? and how to check it?

    Task of 0500

    0530 task

    Task of 0600

    0630 task

You can address the issue in two steps:

    Compare task definitions 1

1.1 use the export feature on the right side of the window Scheduler of tasks to export each of the task definitions.

1.2 each of the definitions of exported tasks will be an xml file, each of them [they open in IE] open then select all text & paste it in Excel, with only one task in the first column, the next task in the next column,... until you have them all.

1.3 using Excel, simply because it's a convenient way to see tasks-by-side, look at each line to see what the differences are there between them other than the time set for them.

1.4 use the results to eliminate all unwanted differences that exist.

  • Scheduled task does not start unless I am connected

When I schedule a task, it will run if I am connected, but if I am offline scheduler pointed out that I could not start the task.  How can I solve the problem?

    Thank you!

I finally found out what was the problem; the program I want to run resides on a network drive, I had mapped to a network drive to the location of the file, the name of the file the task scheduler has tried to run included the mapped network drive.  When I put the absolute path to the file to execute, it worked as expected.  I discovered the problem by looking at the Task Scheduler Log, indicating that the file is not found.  The program that the Task Scheduler runs consulted files sent with the mapped network drive and it works as expected, but for some reason that task scheduler failed to start the program by using the mapped network drive.

I want to thank each of you for your help to solve this problem.

    Thank you

    Hello

I'm working on a machine with Vista Home installed. I have a setup of the task in the Task Scheduler that works very well for a few days, and then is unable to boot with the error value: 2147942402. I then try to delete the task, but receive a window pop up with an error:

  • I get the message that Scheduler tasks not preformed tasks does not

    Original title: error messages
I get the message that Scheduler tasks not preformed tasks does not

You have can not be programmed tasks, but one or several applications that you have installed probably made (without bothering to tell you).  Google is a likely culprit, but certainly not the only one.

Most of these tasks are "phone home" search for updates of applications.  If you ask me, you're better off with tasks not running - but I'm sure that you don't like the error message at every startup.

Rather than starting at the end with the section of the "Troubleshooting" section, begins to run and find out what's on demand - so you can decide whether you care or not that it is not performed.

Click Start > Accessories > system tools > scheduled tasks

The window tasks planned opens and you can see the list of tasks.  If you want the tasks to be performed, but they are not, then follow «troubleshooting» article  If you don't want the task to run, do a right click and 'delete '.

Or, if you do not want to risk to delete something you don't know, but don't want the error of "missed tasks", right-click on a task, select properties and then uncheck the box in the tab 'Task' that says 'Enabled '.  This will give time to what the job is all about and why he could not be executed but will prevent the message "some tasks have been missed" to come whenever you start the search.

  • Try to run Defrag/Task Scheduler Service, get the message 'Task Scheduler Service does not work' in Windows 7

I'm trying to defragment my system (Windows 7).  When I go to START and type in "Defragmenter" it states: "the Task Scheduler Service does not work.  "Start the Task Scheduler Service and try again.  When I do, the following message appears: "the remote computer is not found.  Please tell us what to do next.  Thank you.

Task Scheduler, Windows event log, and the RPC end Point Mapper are included to start automatically?

Click on the Start button and select Control Panel, administrative tools, Services. Locate the Windows event log in the list. Check that he started and that the startup type is automatic. If it is not set to automatic, right-click and select Properties, general tab. There is a box after the startup type. The options are available in a menu drop-down by clicking on the down arrow to the right of the box. Make the change and click apply and then click OK. Restart the computer and verify if it has started.

  • Can Windows Media Player XP play MTS file type? I tried, but the video does not play smoothly. Is this fix really?

I tried, but the video does not play smoothly.  Is this fix really?

There is a possibility that Windows Media Player could
read the file if you rename the MTS to MPG or AVI.

And/or...the suite of freeware Media Player can be
    worth a try.

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Media Player Classic Home Cinema
    http://MajorGeeks.com/Media_Player_Classic_Home_Cinema_d6213.html
    (works on XP/Vista/7)
(The name of the file to download is: "MPC - HomeCinema.1.5.2.3456.x 86 .exe ')

If this fails, it may be worth trying to convert the MTS file
    WMV format:

There are many converters available on the net... some
    free... some detail.

The following freeware converters are a few examples:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    (1) Sothink Free Video Converter
    http://www.Sothinkmedia.com/video-converter/
    (Windows XP / Vista / 7)

You will need to unzip the file... or you could just drag
the Setup.exe from the file out of the folder and drop it on your
    desktop and install from there.

Once installed... Open Sothink and go to... Add the files button...
Find and select the clips you want to convert.

Next... in the encoding settings... Choose... Video credits.
WMV - Windows Media Video (*.wmv).

Choose an output folder and on the left, click on the button convert.

You can experiment with other settings later but
This should help you get started.

    (2) format Factory (freeware)
    http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Format_Factory
    (the 'direct link' is faster)
(the file you want to download is: > FFSetup270.zip<>
    (FWIW... installation..., you can uncheck
('all' boxes on the last screen)
    (Windows XP / Vista / 7)

First, you will need to decompress the file or just open the
Drag FFSetup270.exe out of the folder
and drop it on your desktop. To install left click.

Next, after the download and installation of Format
Factory... you can open the program and
left click on the toolbar, the "Option" button and
"Select an output folder to" / apply / OK.
(this is where you find your files after they)
    are converted)

Drag and drop your video clips on the main screen...

Select "all to WMV" / OK...

Click on... Beginning... in the toolbar...

    That should do it...

    Good luck...

  • Windows media player (11) starts, but does not play file

When I double-click an audio file, WMP opens but then does not play the file.

MP3 and WMA (and other formats) files are configurΘ for dΘmarrer with default WMP and video files to various formats still work very well.
I can get the audio to play by doing a right click and select 'Open with' - 'WMP '.  Drag and drop files into the playlist now also does not work.
I'm under WMP 11 on XP Pro version.
    Any ideas?

    This just started recently?
    If so, what has changed?

Try to uninstall the codec pack, it can cause conflicts, play media files.

If the problem persists, try reinstalling the Media Player and test.

In addition, you can test a corrupted profile by testing under a new account:

  • My copy of windows media player 11 does not play video.

My copy of windows media player 11 does not play video. When you try to play the video (usually an avi file) I get audio and visualization. I tried to uninstall and install new, but does not. I chose also to all types of files media player by default but video still does not play.

An avi file is simply a container that may have different types of files in it for video and audio.

You probably don't have the correct Codec to play the video.

Either download a codec pack such as K-lite or download a little program called G-spot, open it and drag your avi file in the center of the small window of G-spot.

It will then tell you what Codec uses the avi file. You can then Google that particulat Codec, download and install it.

    See you soon,.

There could be a problem of compatibility with MP3 files.

It may be worth trying to convert your MP3 file in the
Format WMA before you import into Movie Maker.

There are to many free converters available on the net...
download from Koyotesoft is an example:

    Koyotesoft "Free MP3 WMA Converter".

After installing the program... open and drag and drop
your file MP3/s on the main screen...

Choose a backup folder (path of output). Or just leave...
