screen brightness blocked after sleep/wake extended in windows vista with HP Pavilion dv6000

Sometimes after recovery mode PC standby or Hibernate, the brightness of the screen is locked up and I can't change it.

Nothing happens when I adjust the brightness setting in power or with FN + f7/f8 options.

Even when I remove the power cable and operate on battery rest brightness up

The only way to fix this is to completely restart windows vista.

This happens not all the computer returns from sleep/hibernate, but it happens frequently.

I have all the latest drivers for:

http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?OS=2093&LC=en&cc=us&DLC=en&product=3466864&lang=en

using

NVIDIA GeForce series video driver 7.15.11.5665 has,
BIOS F.31

I have all the latest important updates from windows update.

Anyone know a fix for this?

For example, is there a way to 'reset' of the screen without having to reboot vista?  Once the brightness has been blocked, and I tried to reinstall the driver for the graphics card. The screen resets during the installation process without getting out of vista, and brightness worked normally.

Someone knows a way to reset the screen without having to restart or reinstall the graphics driver?

HP Pavilion 6563, home premium Windows Vista 32.

In fact, I found an easy way to solve the problem without having to restart vista...

I just close the LID and open it back, now I can control the brightness again.

I put the "close cover" - function of "doing nothing" in the powersettings...

  • Windows 7 "no DNS (or no network) after sleep (wake up) sleep (or Hibernate).

The purpose of this thread is to understand the expected behavior of the TCP in Windows 7 stack and the cards on the resume from sleep/hibernate - not - display the suggestions that have been posted in other threads.  I also wanted to gather some folklore on this subject in one place...

It seems to be a group of people having this problem Windows 7 "no DNS (or no network) after sleep (wake up) sleep (or Hibernate)" without definitive duty (or with various) responds to what the issue is.

Do some reading on this in various places, I see:

-Suggestions to disable UPnP.  This should be largely irrelevant to the problem.

-Reset the default router.  Generally, this should not be necessary.

-Reinstall Windows 7 (ah yes, the panacea for all ills!).

-Replace DHCP static IP address.  This should not be necessary (considered at best as a workaround).

-If it solves the problem, it points the finger at DHCP feature / state on the curriculum vitae of sleep?

-Disable the firewall.  This shouldn't be a problem (why would it).

-If it is a question, it is likely to be isolated, rather than the majority of the cases.

    -VMWare (or similar) virtual networks.

-This could be a problem for some people.  It would be useful for anyone who has a problem to confirm if they have VMWare or similar virtualization installed products (who can create virtual networks).

-Disable the TCP (TCP sliding windows) tuning car.

-It is possible that TCP auto tuning could be a problem for some people - but - unlikely, it would be a problem for people only on the recovery from sleep mode.  I think that anyone with questions about the TCP (TCP sliding windows) tuning car rather than questions on RESUME intermittent connectivity problems.

-Some people report improved performance when turn it off this feature.   Report MSFT from 10 x to x 1000 in laboratory performance. conditions.  It's one you need to test yourself to see if it helps or otherwise.

-NETSH INTERFACT TCP SET GLOBAL AUTOTUNING = OFF

-NETSH INTERFACT TCP SET GLOBAL AUTOTUNING = NORMAL

-It works on XP but not on Windows 7?

-It is fairly widely commented that the TCP stack has been re-written/improved thanks to Vista and Windows 7.  It is not surprising, therefore that problems on Windows 7 that do not exist on Windows XP.  This does not necessarily imply that the Windows 7 stck is bug, just as not all software and peripheral food chain TCP are speaking the language of same/current (in the absence of a better technical description).

-One wonders, therefore, are only optimizations issues additional tuning and unloading that have been made in the new stack TCP?   How this confrontation with the problems that occur only in the curriculum vitae of sleep/wake extended?

-Some people recommended prevents the system from voltage of their cards during the standby/hibernation.  Does this means:

    -The card is not dynamic.

-If the card is allowed to be turned off so there will be a lag between the state saved in Windows and the State represented (none) in the card when the system is out of his sleep (or Hibernate).

-Perhaps, it's something that needs to be addressed in the functions of battery/sleep TCP in Windows 7 - How to handle/recover the situation when the NETWORK adapter is turned off?

-If we put the system to sleep, we want to have power supplied to the maps or not (what are the implications)?

-People have the same problem for the hibernation?

-If there is a problem of State related to the cards, would be - why, in some cases of people solve the problem by disabling optimizations that involve some treatment being given cards instead of being carried out using the processors.  If it was kept in the processors, we have consistent state on the resume (as opposed to cards)?

I think what I understand of MSFT is here:

-What is the behavior designed in the stack revised to ensure a consistent state between the adapter, battery, previously obtained DNS, DHCP settings, etc., the curriculum vitae of sleep/wake extended.

-Unlikely connections persist across sleep/hibernation - so are they remind/re-restored?

-Windows 7 has more work to properly manage this for cards that - are - power off during sleep?

-Is - it a requirement of MSFT at this time for an own CV, the card must stay lit?

An exchange of views on how this is supposed to work for MSFT would be useful.  Then perhaps hundreds if not thousands of people facing this issue can understand why it happens and how they can solve.

  • After a clean install of Windows Vista, Intel Wifi card is installed and activated, but does not detect the network.

Wireless card not working after a clean install of Windows Vista

I did a clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium on my HP Pavilion of 32 bits. I've completely updated Windows via Service Pack 2. Given that the clean install, my wireless card, Intel (r) Wireless WiFi Link 4965AGN, was not able to detect all the networks. The Wifi card is listed under NICs as being installed and activated. the hardware on my laptop Wifi switch is set on "on" and the light is blue, indicating that the card is working.

I can connect to the internet if I connect physically my computer to the modem with an ethernet cable wireless, so the modem isn't the problem. Other computers can connect to the wireless modem, so my Wifi modem functionality is not the problem. The problem with my computer.

I tried to uninstall the Intel driver and reboot my computer with the generic driver. Install the driver generic, but my wireless card has not always worked. I then ran an update of windows, nothing helps.

I tried to install the "Intel® PRO /? The map didn't always work with a driver.

In addition to the pilots, I also downloaded a tool of diagnosis of Intel (Intel® PROSet /?) Utility of WiFi wireless connection for Windows Vista 32 -? Bit). Said diagnostic tool the WiFi card is not installed or enabled, however, Device Manager maintains that he is also installed and active.

Is there a problem that causes Device Manager to say that all is well with the card, but does not map to realize that they diminish the radio signals? Everything's fine, diagnostic, it just does not detect networks around him. Help, please.

    Hi Sam,

A power plan is a collection of hardware settings and system that manages how your computer uses and conserves energy. Power management can save energy, maximize system performance, or balance conservation of energy with performance.

    Let us try these methods.

    Method 1.

You can run the troubleshooter of power to set your computer's power settings. The resolution of the problems of power check things as settings timeout of your computer, which determines how long the computer waits before turning off the display or enter the mode 'sleep'. These settings can help you save energy and extend the life of the battery in your computer.

    Open the power Troubleshooter: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/open-the-power-troubleshooter

    Method 2.

You can create a new power plan and check if that helps.

Change, create, or delete a power plan (scheme): http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows7/change-create-or-delete-a-power-plan-scheme

  • Suddenly, after 4 years or more, Windows Vista says it is not authentic, and we can't find the key for reactivation.

One of my friends asked me to help because she has a serious eye problem requiring a transplant, and his other eye is not so good either. To see the screen, it uses the function of magnification of the screen on a 24 "monitor and sits with his eyes of 10-15 cm off the screen (4 to 6 inches)

She had this machine for about 4 years and in recent weeks, she had this recurring demand for re turn on his machine.

Unfortunately, when she bought this machine, it did not have the OEM disc and I find no hint of the usual OEM stickers that should have been on the machine. Apparently she bought from a vendor just a couple of the townships far away and is no longer there.

I regret to say that it seems that installation is a counterfeit.

The motherboard seems to be an a detail - the key used OEM_SLP is one for the Asus computer.

There is no SLIC table in BIOS (as it should be in any computer with Windows OEM pre-installed)

The machine was sent for repair to anyone? -replacement motherboard could cause these problems.

In view of the fact that you do not find a COA sticker, I guess the original installation was a fake, but it was only discovered by a need to validate the system.

The only real options are either to buy a complete package of legal retail for Vista Ultimate and use the key for this to make the authentic system. or to buy a pack of Win7 full detail to any edition of Windows is going to suit your friend and then clean install that (after you back up all data from external storage).

Note that in most circumstances, it would be useless for your friend to have a full edition of Vista or Win7 - at most, professional would be the natural choice, but it is likely that home Premim would do perfectly well, unless your friend has specific programs that require a higher edition.

According to the report that you have posted, you should not see a non-genuine problem - the report is clean.

If you are indeed to see a non-genuine notification, then is that from time to time, or is this all the time?

If it is present only from time to time, you have a race condition - and those can be a nightmare to solve, because they disappear as soon as you look at :) They are often caused by antivirus programs in conflict with other programs running

If it is there all the time, then try the following.

Vista license store is perhaps damaged or its data can be ruined somehow. Please try the steps below to re-create the store with the correct data.

    (1) open an Internet browser window.
    (2) type: %windir%\system32 in the browser's address bar.
    (3) find the CMD.exe file
    (4) make a right click on CMD.exe and select "Run as Administrator"
    (5) type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you're sure, select Yes)
    (6) type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
    (7) type: Rename tokens.bar tokens.dat
    (8) type: cd %windir%\system32
    (9) type: net start slsvc
    (10) type: cscript slmgr.vbs - FLIR (it may take time for this will be complete, please be patient)
    (11) restart your computer twice.
    (12) you may need to enter you product key and activate it.

Try this instead and explain your situation to a live person.

1 / click on the Start button.

2 / in the Search box type: slui.exe 4 and press enter.

3 / in the find window available for activation phone number, select the nearest location where you lie in the location box. You can click the arrow to the right of the location box to expand your choice of venues.

4 / once you have selected your location, click Next.

5 / If the user account control box, click continue or, if you are not the administrator, type in the username and password for permission to continue.

6 / the window Activate Windows now will appear indicating the phone number you are dealing with a series of installation identification numbers.

7 / now compose the activation number is displayed on the screen. The phone number is free of charge (telephone), unless otherwise stated.

8 / you understand that, initially, the line of Activation is Automatic, so you will be asked to enter the numbers displayed on your screen using your telephone keypad.

9 / once the numbers entered via the keypad of your phone, the automated service will issue you with another set of numbers that you Type in the dialog box that is displayed on your computer screen.

10 / now you must follow the instructions issued by the automated service to activate your copy.

11 / if, after going through this process, the activation service informs you that the product cannot be activated and then DO NOT slam the phone down in rage. Rather STAY ON THE LINE and your call will be transferred to an Activation of the device, in other words, someone real who will help you to activate your copy of Windows Vista.

12 / I am aware that these steps can be a pain, but nine times out of ten, Activation is automatic and can be accomplished quite easily on the internet. This is the reason why the service is automated. It is true that sometimes the automatism cannot stop, and when this happens, you are put through to someone who can help you.

  • After installing Ubuntu 11.04, Windows Vista has disappeared.

Original title: Windows vista is missing

After installing Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) my other OP system Windows vista has disappeared. I don't get a menu to choose which OP system I want to use. The grub menu 2 does not include an entry for windows. My computer directly boots into Ubuntu. I tried to put the installation disc in the status bar to try to recover the system but nothing works. Can someone help me please? Isetta cordially.

    Hi Isetta,

It seems that after installing Ubuntu, grub 2 took control of Boot Manager and changed the boot sequence. To change the startup entries to get Vista, you must contact Ubuntu for assistance on changing the grub boot entries 2.

You can see the following link to get in touch with Ubuntu.

  • After a clean install of Windows Vista Home Premium, how long will it take to run updates and it will take a lot of bandwidth?

updates after clean install of Vista Home premium

I plan on upgrading the hard drive on my laptop two year old, which will require a clean install of Vista Home Edition full.  I live in a remote with the satellite internet service.  I would like to know in advance what will happen after the installation with the updates of the program.  I will ask you to install them? It would take a lot of bandwidth?

    Hi EllenCB,

Welcome to Windows Vista community responses.

Once you make a clean installation on your hard drive is erased. Now, when you install the operating system return updates that have been deleted will be delivered by Windows update to install on your computer. To save time and bandwidth, you can directly install Service pack 1 and Service pack 2 for Vista which would contain more updates. Of course when you run Windows update and when you try to download from the internet, your download speed will decrease. It is best to keep your system up to date which will allow your version of Windows to run better.

Before installing the update, run the checksur tool, this tool is running an ad hoc analysis of inconsistencies that might prevent future maintenance operations. Download the tool from the link below.
