Screen resolution and colors - how to set 16 bit

original title: screen resolution and colors

I have Windows Vista Home Basic package, but when I change my screen resolution, color change, it says 8 bit - low, but size of the screen (640 x 480 pixels) resolution is big for me, I need 1024 x 678 pixels and 256 colors not, I need 16-bit. Help please, because I really want to keep Windows Vista Home Basic Edition

Normally, it's because you need to install the correct drivers for your graphics (Vista). Go to the site of the manufacturer of your PC in the first place, or if the manufacturer of the graphics card to download and then install them.

    Restore point:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

    Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If the above does not fix it:
    Go to the Web site of the manufacturer of your card for laptop / computer graphics / > drivers and downloads Section > key in your model number > looking for the latest graphics drivers for Vista > download/install them.
    Then:
    Change the screen resolution
    Screen resolution refers to the clarity of the text and images on your screen. At higher resolutions, items appear sharper. They appear also smaller, so more items adapted to the screen. At lower resolutions, fewer items adapted to the screen, but they are larger and easier to see. At very low resolutions, however, images may have serrated edges.
    See you soon.
    Have you had success playing other video DVDs?
    Maybe you need a DVD decoder?
    (FWIW... it is always preferable, if you create a system restore
    Also, you could try the free VLC Media Player:
  • Windows will not update the screen resolution and the color depth
    Out of the blue today, my Windows XP installation had its color depth and screen resolution back to the lowest setting and whenever I try to update it refuses to put up-to-date.
    I even try to restart my computer and a bubble appears downstairs offering reset the color depth and resolution to my automatically.  When I click, it appears as if he's trying to return to normal, but again once nothing happens - the colors and the screen resolution is still at the lowest setting.
    Can any ideas on how I fix?
    Hello
    Here are some things to try to fix it.
    Change the screen resolution.
    "How the resolution screen on Windows XP"
    http://pcsupport.about.com/od/Videocards/HT/screenres.htm
    You can also right-click on an empty desktop > properties > settings > it the slider bar allows you to increase the resolution > Apply > OK > agree in the next window, etc.
    If that fixed it, have damaged you graphic drivers.
    Access the site on your computer or the manufacturer of the graphics card > look for a driver download Section > search for your model number and operating system > get graphics / video / Chipset Drivers (depending on how it is formulated) > download and install.
    Change the screen resolution.
    You can also try a system restore before all these problems started:
  • Display of Windows Vista, the icons and all THE GRAPHICS suddenly pixelated, appear low quality at the highest resolution and colors
    Please help, out of nowhere on my screen - background, all icons, all graphics (including the Explorer and other programs) have become rough and pixelated and seem very low qualty even if my display is set to the highest resolution management settings and color. I've not been able to find a way to restore and have no idea why it is doing this in the first place. It's really bothering me, it's hard to read (text appears fuzzy and broken up, not smooth and sharp, icons have white or another pixelation around them and do not have the 'look of glass'.) I was wondering if one of the old games my children changed my settings somewhere but I've lived every control panel I find and have not been able to correct the problem.  Even the buttons (back, forward, refresh, etc.) in Explorer have bad pixelation. That's happened? Help! :) Thank you
    I would also update the drivers, firmware or software for your monitor at the same time.  Also, if you have another monitor, swap them to see if the problem goes away or moves - then we can pretty much reduce the question to the screen and not the video card (and if the updated drivers do not resolve this problem, then it's a hardware problem and you can either take a workshop of computer service repair or simply a replacement of purchase screen.)
    I hope this helps.
    Good luck!
  • Blur Gaussian and color Hue/Saturation setting cause freeze-up
    After using PS Elements 9 for a year, he started to give me problems, and I can't find a solution for her online.  Choosing the Blur Gaussian or color - causes of setting Hue/Saturation PES 9 to freeze and stop responding.  This just started today and I'm stumped.  Some other filters stopped working, but they do not produce a freeze-up.  I did a disk cleanup and defragmentation, but I didn't something different to my computer in a long time.  I can try to uninstall/reinstall, but I'd rather not if there is a simpler solution.  I'm on a Toshiba Satelite Notebook, processor i5, Windows Home Premium 64-Bit OS.  I would appreciate any idea on this issue.
    The registered editor preferences often get corrupted. You may need to restore the preferences of the Publisher to resolve all conflicts.
    Press the Ctrl + Shift + Alt keys and simultaneously click the button Edit in the Welcome screen. The three keys to unlock and look behind the screen of welcome to close. Or press the keys while double clicking on PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe (in Program Files x86\Adobe)
    You should see a pop up box with the words: settings of items file remove Adobe Photoshop?
    Click Yes
    Then wait while the elements rebuilt preferences.
  • Definitely change the screen resolution / disabling drivers - how to?
    My monitor broke.
    I have connected my turn to another monitor (with a lower resolution) and it wouldn't load the video mode. I can go into safe mode, change the lowest resolution, but it won't stay like this. I tried system restores. Is there a way to solve this problem without a new monitor?
    My OS is Windows 7 Ultimate
    Is it possible to fix this?
    My another method was to uninstall the video drivers in safe mode, and then restart the computer normally. It would work, but the drivers reinstall themselves and the screen resolution changes do not seem to stay. Is this a problem with my video card?
    Thank you.
    Reinstall the chipset and graphics drivers for your PC manufacturer or support the motherboard manufacturers, rt click on desktop > resolution... by default
  • Screen resolution and wallpaper
    Hello community,
    The resolution recommended for my 24 "monitor is 1920 x 1200.  However, when I go to Web sites to download the wallpaper, sites automatically than 1280 x 800 is the resolution of my screen and the corresponding wallpaper.  I use Windows 7 slideshow to display wallpapers on my desktop. My question is, why Web sites indicate the resolution of 1280 x 800, which is considered to be on the big screen, 1920 x 1200 is the appropriate resolution.  Especially, there is no difference in the display of the wallpaper on my desktop through these two resolutions.  Clearly provide is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you advance.
    Hello
    Most sites that offer custom Windows wallpapers produce wall-paper in the most commonly used screen resolutions.
    If your screen resolution is not the one most commonly used, it will show the wallpapers with the resolutions that are closer to the resolution you are using.
  • Laptops, screen resolution and CS5
    Hello
    I'm planning to buy a laptop to run CS5. I gave a few days when I discovered that all laptops under £1000 have a resolution of 1366 x 768. Even those who claim to be full HD, read the fine print, seem to be full HD only when playing a movie.
    I intend to buy this one:
    http://www.asuslaptop.co.UK/prodDetail.php?prod=N53SN-SZ085V
    until I read the full HD is only used to display movies...
    Right now I'm completely confused because I used to run Adobe in my laptop, before versions of CS started the screen resolution higher demand. Does this mean I can't find a laptop under £ 1,000 to run CS5?
    Thank you
    Try this:
    Hz-4gb-500gb-Windows-7-Home-Premium-notebook-PC http://www.jigsaw24.com/Product-Details/p576aya/Sony-VAIO-f13m8eb-16.4-Core-i7-740QM-1.73G
    It is available at LaptopsDirect to all about £800.
    The resolution is OK, so is the graphics, for the CS5 first, but the HARD drive is low, and there is no Bay for a second HDD.  It also has a firewire port. I'm editing HDV on one of them, using a disk external eSATA for multimedia files.
    At some point, I'll probably replace the HDD with a Seagate Momentus XT.
  • How to set the screen resolution and font size?
    I turned on my computer and it suddenly opted for the super big characters such as when it is running in safe mode. I entered the customization and tried to change the DPI (dots per inch) and it is said that I already use smaller size icons and only gives me the opption to makes them bigger. I restarted several times and have had no joy, so any help would be much appreciated... TTFN
    Assuming that you do not use Vista...
    >I entered the customization and tried to change the DPI
    Have you changed to 96 DPI ?
    In any event my suggestion is do a system restore. Choose a datebefore you had this problem as your restore point.
    Start button > Search box, type system restore > press the Enter key > uac prompt > click on choose a different restore point > next > select dates as your restore point, until the click > next > finish
    To sit and wait. The machine restarts when it's done.
  • Impossible to change the screen resolution and icons willing I would like.
    I had problems with vista periodically change the resolution of the screen but still have just changed the resolution to what I want.  I see that there are complaints about this problem with Dell and HP computers.  I have a gateway so the problem is not with the manufacturer of the computer.
    Now, the resolution has been changed and I can't move the icons for I wish it.  If I increase the resolution, all the icons are arranged on the left side of the screen and will not go.  What happened to cause this and how can I fix this problem?
