Screen setup ESXi 6 pips

Hello

I can't install vmware vSphere on my Supermicro X10SLL-F, because the video output is glitched (see attachment). Even without a monitor and just using the IPMI remote console, the output is always glitched. I tried to install via a USB flash drive and I tried unetbootin, rufus, but also create a USB Flash drive to store the Script of ESXi Installation or upgrade Script

My boot.cfg is attached, I even tried to automate installation via KS.cfg, but this doesn't seem to work and since I don't see the error/screen output, it's a little difficult to get the error. Boot.cfg options for auto install: kernelopt = ks = usb: / ks.cfg with KS.cfg in the usb root directory, see attachment.

Set gfxpayload = keep isn't a solution either.

I found a few posts on this problem here in the forum, but no solution. Does anyone have an idea or a solution for this?

Bravo and thank you!

Paul

PS: installation of CentOS or Debian is not reproduce the problem.

OK, time to solution:

  • It is a MUST to do a normal boot 'bios' disk USB, boot UEFI No.!
  • Use YUMI: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/
    • Create a USB with Grub drive! (Option "try ISO no side (GRUB)")
    • Load and install the ISO VMware file
  • Boot from the USB drive and select the ISO file
  • Install

See you soon,.

  • Application of monitor Dell DDM with U2515H and U2412M dual screen setup and USB drive menu

    Hello

I have U2515H and U2412M independently connected with DP cable to GTX960 video card.

    Two questions;

    1.

I have the latest driver display and the last Application of monitor Dell DDM.  It detects U2515H OK but not U2412M.   necessary on the menu OSD is activated but still no go.    Is - this known issue?

    2.

Also with U2515H, curiously section USB tab energy on screen Menu (the one who press the button) is grayed out.  Can not choose how the power of USB hub behave when the screen goes into sleep mode?    What cause this menu to be grayed out?    Factory reset has no effect on this menu item.

Be aware that U2515H has been replaced by Dell last Friday with monitor construction January because the one originally, I got a defect on the bezel mounting, but this USB menu was selectable.   It was built in April/205.

    Thanks for the research.

(Updated the model type edition only)

There is no U2414M. Do you mean the U2412M? If so, the U2412M is not supported. It was an error in the web. DDM requires a year of Dell 2013 model year or newer.

There is no U25125H or U2525H. Do you mean the U2515H? From the U2515H Manual page 41 =
    USB
Allows you to enable or disable the USB function standby monitor.

NOTE: USB power standby mode is available only when the USB upstream cable is disconnected. This option will be grayed out when the USB cable upstream traffic in.

Hi there kelii... technically, you can configure most of the screens in a touch screen but it is a very vigorous process of the dismantling of the monitor... There are other easy solutions, but they all require you to spend money on 3rd party solutions.

There is no easy way to do it unfortunately... and there is no driver, which you can download on your PC to set it up if that's what you mean.

  • Setup ESXi 5.1 error scripted

I'm performing a scripted ESXi 5.1 installation. My custom installation is located on an external USB drive bootable and it installs it on a USB Flash Module (an internal USB) device.

My KS.cfg has the following lines:

    keyboard "United Kingdom".

    # Install on hard drives by car and the internal partitions of the USB

    install - mpx.vmhba33:C0:T0:L0 = disk - overwritevmfs

    #Clearing were leaving them

    clearpart - firstdisk - overwritevmfs

    #Creating new partiotion on localdisks

    part DataStore1 - onfirstdisk

It installs well much of the time on most of the time, but sometimes fails when I try to reinstall the server again. The error that I do face is an installer not being able to find mpx.vmhba33:C0:T0:L0 and suggesting mpx.vmhba34:C0:T0:L0 and mpx.vmhba35:C0:T0:L0.

I wonder what is the order of detection depends on?

    Thanks in advance.

I thought about it. The server was originally installed in my office then place in the basket with KVM. When I went to BIOS | USB devices machine I noticed the USB1 KVM and KVM USB1 device (or something along the line) before my MRU STEC. So, this explains why the machine could detect the UPM module as vmhba33 initially and vmhba35 when he has accumulated.

  • Help Setup RAID SATA for ESXi 4.1

    Hello

It is the first time that you try to use vmware.  Any help is greatly appreciate!

I just built a server around the Intel s5500hcvr mother. I have 6 SATA HDD I want to set up in a RAID. The integrated RAID controller seems to be very limited and does not seem to be supported by ESXi 4.1 (when I run ESXi 4.1 installation and it asks for a location for installation, all my discs are individually listed instead of virtual drives that I created with the RAID controller)

    My questions:

    (1) what is the suggested configuration of HDD (RAID levels / number of berries) for ESXi 4.1?  Can I create 1 RAID 10 array and set everything up to that?  or take one of my disks and install esxi 4.1 on it and then create a RAID with the rest of my discs and use it to store data?

    (2) anyone can provide links to some SATA RAID controllers that are known to work with ESXi 4.1 (and is the supposed to recognize virtual readers created by the RAID controller setup ESXi 4.1)

Your motherboard has a RAID controller software which, as you have discovered, is completely not taken in charge by ESX/ESXi... You will need to get a RAID controller that is on the HCL for SAS and SATA hard drives (not one with battery backup write cache) so you can use any type of RAID configuration.

My preference for Internal RAID configurations (on the host) are two drives mirrored for ESX/ESXi to reside (preferably being SAS 10 k or 15 k RPM, 73 GB or 146 GB in size) and then another table for the data store. You'll want to keep the data slot store table 2 TB-512 b size in order to present to ESX/ESXi as a LUN. Or you will need to get a RAID card this split of the support to the top of the table in the smaller of the virtual drives that can be presented for ESX/ESXi and LUNS.

Search for controllers using the LSI MegaRAID chip as a good first lap. Some Adaptec cards should work, but I've seen people post questions on those recent (more recent than in the past). MANY manufacturers rebrand/efficiency the LSI MegaRAID Controllers server, such as the Dell PERC 6 series cards.

For the use of 4 disks SATA, RAID 10 (on a BBWC, fully supported, controller) will give you the best performance. It will compare with SAS drives however. IF you do not plan on any virtual machine running with anything beyond light IOPS / s then you should be ok (or with very light loads)... If this is going to be a production server, then get the SAS drives all around.

  • ESXi installed - hard drive not displayed / bootable.

I installed a custom of ESXi 5.5 with special network on a desktop PC card drivers ISO.

After a successful installation of ESXi on a 500 GB HARD drive, the PC reboots, but the BIOS that ESXi is installed on the HDD does not appear as a boot device.

Picking the bios boot menu shows me "Windows Boot Manager", the other two drives and network cards in the PC... by process of deduction, I selected "Windows Boot Manager" but does not start ESXi.

I really don't understand why ESXi can install on the HARD drive, but then not see at boot time?

    Can anyone offer advice?

    Thank you

    Hello

I managed to get esxi begin properly.

relaunch the program Setup ESXi, and when it first starts to load its installer, press SHIFT - O ('oh'... not to zero)

At the bottom of the screen that presents you with "> runweasel".

Let what is, but type SPACE "formatwithmbr".

so it should look like "> runweasel formatwithmbr" then press ENTER, and installation should go ahead. Restart the pc, and you SHOULD now be able to boot from the hard drive that ESXI is installed on.

  • ESXi installation process and storage CF

    Hi all

It's been a while since I worked with the CF based storage so forgive me if this is a silly question!

I remember at the time of ESX 3.5 when a host is created, it is strongly recommended that you unplug your HBA as the installer ESX 3.5 was inclined to wipe your FC LUNS during installation.

Is this always the case? If I add a bright new ESX5.1 host in a cluster existing I have to disconnect from the connected FC SAN for the generation?

    Thank you

    Chris

No, during the installation of ESXi, it scans all the storage controller and storage/LUN connected to the server. Setup ESXi offer screen user input to select the storage that you want to install ESXi and installation takes place on the selected disk.

If you are using a scripted installation, make sure that mention you the right VMHBA device in the KS file and remove the firstdisk option. For even if the device driver of the CF charged first by ESXi, KS file controller resumes the VMHBA right for installation.

  • "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" loop problem

Hello, I was hoping you guys could help out me with a big problem, I ran across when trying to install Windows 7 on a desktop computer new, custom - build. I managed to successfully install my Windows 7 64-bit, it appeared, but when I try to run it, that I will meet a black screen that says "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" and it will stay there forever, I would say. I let it run all night and didn't go anywhere.

I tried to start in safe mode, and Windows was loading files sys32, he got to "Classpnp.sys" and it froze. After a few minutes, the screen is blacked out, and I got fired the familiar screen "Setup is preparing your computer for first use.

I bought the copy of Windows 7 nine FRY, there will be no problem with that. My HD is a (new) 240 GB PNY Optima SSD, my mobo is a (new) Z97X-SLI Gigabyte, and I have 16 GB of RAM. All these things have been recognized by my BIOS, it seems that everything is properly connected.

I tried to install Windows 7 on a second time and exactly the same thing happened. I also tried to repair the installation to start upward, but he finds no problems. Also a check of the memory and the disk has verified without any problem. The only things I plugged are my monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

Does anyone know of a workaround for this screen loop "first use"? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I just got 2 new MacPro 6.1, delivered 2 days ago and was aware of the possible SSD being not recognized error but am willing to deal with that. My problem is that once the boots MacPro Setup ESXi charge from a USB memory key and gets all the way to the press ENTER to continue the installation of the keyboard (or any USB device?) seem not to be recognized. I tried with a different Installer .iso 6.0u1a & 6.0u1b, they both exhibit the same behavior. BIOS versions on these seem a little bit newer than what I saw in the nets SSD, so I don't know if another thing Apple that the SSD has changed lately. The version of the BIOS MP61.0116.B16. It does not recognize the keyboard and start the Installer off USB first. I just can't continue the installation. I tried several keyboards as well. Apple, Dell, HP basic keyboards. If I start with it or plug it in once I get started, I didn't even not a NumLock led light. Any suggestions?

Please use the keyboard USB extender that comes with the Apple keyboard (even if you don't need the extra distance it provides).  It is the typical solution.
