Screensaver option AWOL "on resume, display welcome screen.

What caused the sceen saver option ' on the resumption, display welcome screen "should be replaced by the"on RESUME, password protect"option on my trusty Windows XP Professional sp3?

There is something very unpleasant on the Windows 2000 dialog box "your computer is locked. I like much better, the login screen of Fisher Price although - as I am the only real user of this particular PC - it makes little difference in practice.

I'm a little curious why something worked reliable suddenly since nearly seven years broke, however. Maybe even concerned.

I recently installed .net 4 but I can't say for sure if this is the culprit because Windows will not let me uninstall it (and I did the other intentional changes to the system, System Restore is not an option).

To the title of the user accounts, I have both 'use the home screen' and "Use fast user switching" enabled.

Outside my 'real' user account, there is the administrator account, an account of computer ASP.NET, the guest account (which is 'off' but not disabled) and 9 'VSA Server accounts' (something Visual Studio, it seems to me). Of these, only my 'real' account and the guest account are visible in user accounts. The Asp.Net account used to be visible there, I think.

Googling "on Resume, display vs homescreen, password protect" finds a number of discussion forums about the issue that I have encountered and the general opinion seems to be that, by design, the "display home screen" option is available only on systems with more than one user, but is this really so?

A fix for this is to download TweakUI for XP (Powertoys) go to login and select "Show ASPNET on home screen. It does not actually show on login, but it's a way to get the screen saver setting in return. Now on trial with .NET 4.

Edit: Confirmed after installation of .NET 4 works even if the patch must be applied again after the installation.

  • How to display all the users on the Welcome screen when returning from screen saver

In addition, the only purpose to use the screensaver is to get the Welcome screen to appear on the next action. Is it possible to get just the upcoming welcome screen after a period of time even without first having the active screen saver?
    Thanks in advance.

To first answer you last question: Yes, you can have the login screen appears without a screen saver.  Use the "nil" screen saver and you can still set a timeout of the logon screen.

Regarding your first question, I do not think there is a way to do it.  There is a policy setting, you can configure it to decide if the last user appears, but I think that it only works on the areas:

  • Windows 8 does not not to the Welcome screen and the start option advanced

I met a very strange situation.

    1. I first put my system into hibernation and walked away for a while. Then when I tried to turn on the system, it freezes at the Welcome screen. I tried the strok key (Ctrl + Alt + Delete) but nothing happened. I noticed that the ' FN ' on my laptop works very well! I could turn on and turn off the Wifi with them. But the system has not responded to all other keys and my touch pad.

    2. I tried waiting for the system to respond for a long time. When I noticed that the little light on my laptop showing the status of the HDD stopped flashing, I thought that the system could already went wrong so I hard reboot the system.

3 then, strange thing that happened:

    (1) first is the logo of my BIOS flashed on the screen and disappeared, which has never happened before.

    (2) then the system told me that he prepares the update. But I remember turning off the automatic update and I had not installed update before the system went wrong. Although I remembered that there is a warning to the login screen that there is some new important updates and I should install them.

    (3) the system is restarted automatically when the increase is 30%. After this reboot, the system maintains hang at as before welcome screen.

    4. I've tried several things and hard reset for many times but nothing has changed.

    (1) I tried to disable the quick start to the BIOS.

    (2) I've tried allowing CSM (disable UEFI in legacy mode)

    (3) I tried to press F9 to start and got into the advanced boot options screen. However, all there hang two! My keyboard and mouse are both inadmissible.

    (4) disconnect all connected to my laptop.

Then I'm lost. I can't repair or restore my system. I think that my keyboard works fine because I can change the BIOS setting to use. Now, I'm at my wits end with. Can anyone suggest anything?

    Update:

Turned history that I tried to plug my USB mouse to the laptop. It worked, and when I connect my USB keyboard that works too! But minutes after I logged on successfully to Windows, I got the WORKER_INVALID and restart the system.

I found this post which has almost exactly the same problem with me (I use an ASUS laptop too!). So I uninstalled my driver warned of the gesture, and then the system has not crashed over.

But my problem has not been resolved. I downloaded and installed the latest driver of ASUS and always found my touch pad and the keyboard does not. I also realize that even in a different operating system on my system (LinuxMint), my touchpad and keyboard will not work.

    To summarize:

Now I can use an external device (USB keyboard and mouse). But the built in keyboard and touch pad does not work. The latest driver for ASUS (ASUS Smart gesture) and ASUS ATK Package driver does not work. Strange thing is that when I open the computer, can I use my keyboard and even type in the Linux grub shell. But once the system got loaded, both in Windows and LinuxMint, the keyboard and the touchpad don't work.

Now, I suspect my BIOS went wrong, but I do not know and do not dare update the BIOS so recklessly. Any ideas?

    Hello

I had an old image of the operating system on a hard drive (HD replaced with solid state) that I used to "restore".  The question that has happened again a few days late.  I can't keep backup/restore all the time because it is very tedious (there are a lot of changing data on this computer a duty to back up like that all the time isn't a realistic solution)

  • How to list all the users on the Windows 8 Pro welcome screen

I work for a small company based in the House of my boss of IT services. Because he runs the company, all the computers in the House are on a domain Active Directory (ease of management and control). Because he runs the company from his home, several of these computers are tablets/touch screens for his children, all upgraded to Windows 8 Pro.

Currently, the default behavior of Windows 8 at startup is to display the Welcome screen showing the last user who opened a session with an option to switch to another user. If "Other user" is selected, a complete login prompt appears requesting a user name and password. This is standard fair for Windows 8, especially on a domain.
He wants to do me is to find a way to allow a style of Windows XP (workgroup) Welcome screen displaying all the available avatars with user accounts, allowing so a child to click easily their user account and enter a picture password without ever seeing the on-screen keyboard.
To rephrase: we want the Windows 8 Pro welcome screen to list all the (or specific, if possible) allowing anyone of you users connect to the computer without entering a user name and only enter a password (or picture password).
I searched the web carefully and it seems that Microsoft can have deprecated this feature in an update of Windows 7 - many people shouting right lose their old welcome screen after an update. I read in the case of registry (removal of corrupt profiles and .default) hacks, security policy settings (interactive logon: do not display last user name = disabled), account policy (control userpasswords2 > uncheck: users must enter a password...) and a few other suggestions that had mixed results, which none apply to the present case , either because the settings are already in place, or because they are not available due to being on a domain.
I'm open to exploration of any kind of registry or 3rd party software hacks that can provide this functionality. Win8 default behavior is absolutely horrible for tablets - it should be easy for multiple users to connect to a device without using a screen keyboard to enter their username and password. WIN8 is halfway there with passwords of photo, but we still have to enter a user name for all, but the user recently.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Zachary,.

This may be a problem with your display drivers.

What is the brand and model of the PC?

As you face this problem at random and since you are able to start the office, I suggest you follow these methods and check if it helps.

  • Different welcome screens

    Hi guys

I have AE CC 2015 running on a desktop computer and a laptop, the two Win7 64-bit, SP1.

The office shows the new kind of CC2015 welcome screen (the same style as most of the programs of 2015), but my laptop screen when I open CC 2015 is still CC2014.

    AE Laptop-PC Comparison.jpg

Can someone tell me why and what I can do to make the screen of the laptop display the correct home screen?

    Kind regards

    Graham

    Hi Graham,

The new startup dialog (which replaces the old welcome dialog box) is a novelty in the program updated after effects 13.6. If you have not updated after effects CC 2015 on both machines, you will see this difference.

You can control whether or not the new start screen appears when you start After Effects via a new option in preferences > general, show the screen start at startup. (This option is enabled by default.)

(Another reason you can see the old welcome dialog box is if you use After Effects in some languages. I don't remember the list, but because this is a new feature it has not been localized for all languages supported still. "Looks like you're using English, so I don't think it's the case for you).
