SD / another card reader has an eject option

My laptop has a built-in card reader. When I insert a card (SD not only, but not any kind accepted), a drive will appear in my computer, and I can use it. But strangely, it has an option to eject from the context menu. Why? What he's going to eject? The card reader has a mechanical slot machine, i.e. it cannot eject a card via a software control - I have to press physically in the release.

As far as my knowledge goes, no player card on the market cannot eject a card by software. IOW, every reader of cards on the market require the user to physically remove a card to eject it (manually), so the 'Eject' in Windows command makes no sense.

To be complete, it's a Sony VAIO Z for 2012 (the last version not touch). He got the latest driver available "Card reader Realtek PCIE" installed.

Hello

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community.

Yes, you are right when you say that there is no software that can eject an SD card out of the computer. We will need to remove it physically by pressing on it, but I would like to inform you that the Eject option for SD card is equivalent to remove material for USB devices.

If you disconnect a storage device or removable computer disk while it is mutating or saving information, you might lose information. Windows provides a way to help you remove such devices.

If you click on eject option for SD card, ensure that no data transfer happening in the background. Unplug or remove the SD card without ejecting it can also result in data corruption.

Thus, it is recommended to use the Eject option before physically disconnect or remove the SD card.

Hope that the information provided is useful. Feel free to post on the Microsoft Community, in case you need assistance while working in Windows.

  • Strange problem with on my Satellite A200-1 SD card reader has 9 & A100-338

I have two Toshiba laptops, one for work (A200-1 to 9) the other for home (A100-338), both have the same problem with the reading of the internal reader SD cards.

Most of the time when I insert an SD card (256 MB, 512 MB, 2 GB of varying sizes) laptops require the driver disks. It's VERY frustrating because the readers are standard build within these models. What makes this worse is the fact that every now and then, there is a map that can be read by both machines. If you read on one, he reads on the other always the same cards never changes. By so if the drive IS able to read SD cards without a driver, why is that it requires drivers for others. Drivers that are not provided, do not seem to exist and altermately mean that I can't use these cards.

I just don't understand why there is a problem.

There must be an answer out there, I hope someone reading this Post knows and is ready to share. Thank you!

    Hi guys

-First check in the user manual which cards are supported! The cards can be used!

-If you use Vista and have some issues with the SD card reader please check this Microsoft Knowledgebase document:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=936825

-In addition, the information that there is no SD card driver is completely false!
On the European driver Toshiba page, you will find the Flash Media Driver. This is the driver for your bridge Media Slot. This slot allows you to insert an SD card, Memory Stick (Pro) or xD picture cards.
In addition, you will find the Support of Flash memory card utility. This allows your computers to Flash card slots.

  • Integrated card reader has stopped working.

I have a Dell Inspiron 530 s with Vista Home Premium. The integrated card reader stopped working after I removed a SanDisk Extreme 16 GB microSD card. Readers have been H, J, K and L.

I tried: restart. Uninstall the device drive and reboot and let windows detect the driver.

Even after reboot several times, and my own research I do not find the readers anywhere.

I also looked under disk management, and it does not appear.

I don't know what else to try. Any suggestions?

  • SD card reader will not work (code 10) on Portege

    Problems with my toshiba portege.

When I put a card in the reader, plug n play sound just so he recognizes her. but then, nothing appears, something about an error code 10 showing he cannot start.

is it possible to fix it?

Code 10 means generally impossible to start the device.
This may have different reasons. First, the driver has not been installed correctly or there is something wrong with the hardware.

What you can do is refreshing to the SD card driver.
Please go to Device Manager, check the State of SD card reader and use the option Update or reinstall the driver.
The driver must be placed on the page Web of Toshiba. I hope. :|

Alternatively, you can remove this device from the Device Manager, and after that restart the CD device should be recognized again.

  • No detectable T520 SD card reader after upgrade Windows 8.1

My SD card reader has become non-functional after a recent upgrade of my T520 to Windows 8.1. Hardware troubleshooting, said that the Base system device driver has not been installed. I installed the Lenovo system update software and looked for updates, but the driver was not updated. There is always a symbol of yellow warning next to the Base system device in Device Manager. Discovered on the site of driver download Lenovo that the card reader in my model is the Ricoh card reader, but there is no driver compatible with Windows 8.1. The driver for Windows 8 would work or is there another solution to get my player to run?

    Hi DiannaW,

You can try to install the windows driver 8 for your system and see if it works.

Or you can try to install the driver windows 8.1 for the T530. (64-bit only version)

    http://support.Lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?docid=DS038445

One of the two should work.

    Vince.

    Hello

    1. what operating system do you use?

2 did you change on your computer?

    3. did you check the card reader with another computer?

    Step 01:

I suggest you follow the steps from the link below.

    a. click Start, click Control Panel.

  • WPD file system volume driver, card reader, code 10

Used to have a Vista system to windows 7 update on top and the card reader has worked without any problems, in fact a full install of windows 7, the card reader appears four times (once for each location in the card reader) 'device cant start code 10' 'WPD file system volume driver. " If for example, I put a Memory stick card in the slot, he then shows up in my computer as a drive can be used to read and write from.

The external USB card reader that I keep with my camera also has the same problem. This works perfectly on XP and Vista on this PC, the internal card reader used to be in this PC also worked great on XP and Vista as well as Windows 7 which has been installed on top of Vista.

I checked for new drivers for the new card reader, are none for Windows 7, so there should not be any question here.

Looks like I solved, went into computer management, the Manager disk and found that they were not in fact assigned to the card reader drive letters. Seed it when the media was designed, windows a drive letter assigned automatically, once the media was ejected from the letter assigned was swept away, this caused the WPD 10 error, so I manually set a drive letter for each location on the card reader all errors are now gone.

  • Card reader memory O2Micro on Latitude with Windows 8.1

I have a Latitude E5520 and a Lattitude E5530, have both the O2Micro SD memory card reader.  The drive worked fine in Windows 8, but after I installed the 8.1 update, the SD card reader works not at all when you insert a memory card.  There is no beep, no hard drive available in Windows Explorer, and in the device, the O2 Manager is not listed in "Storage controllers", where it should be.

There are two versions of the driver that I found online on the Dell site, but neither one solves the problem.

I've found this workaround, but it's not a very good:

    • 8.1 Windows, press the Start button and type peripheral difficultyand click on find and fix problems with the devices in the list of results.
    • Click Next and let it check for problems.  He will come with the option to activate the device Intel 6 series/C200 Series Chipset Family PCI Express Root Port 6 - 1C1A or something similar
    • Click apply this hotfix
    • Once completed, close the troubleshooter and open up Windows Explorer and you should see the card reader
    • In Device Manager, you should see Controller O2Micro Integrated MMC/SD controller O2Micro integrated MS/MSPRO

Now here's the bad news – once you reboot, or even go to sleep and come back, the card reader has disappeared, and you must repeat these steps.

If anyone has a permanent solution, I would like to know what it is!

    -Dave

I had the same problem with my guitarfish E5430 and thank you for your thing!

But I finally found the right driver and now everything seems to work fine, here's what I did:

-Tick: All drivers for your product

    -Choose: MS Windows 8.1 64-bit

    -Come on in: storage controller

-Installation: O2Micro Smartcard (driver O2Micro OZ77CR6 smart card)

  • Software problem or SIM card reader?

    Hello

My brother just bought a new iPhone SE. Like his old iPhone 4 was unnecessary, he gave it to me.

He has deleted all the data, so it was a whole new iPhone 4 running under 7.1.2

Unfortunately, that he used a nano SIM with an adapter and when he took the set, things were not going smoothly and he shot it too strong, maybe because the tray was blocked...

in any case when I turned on the phone with my SIM card (same provider that he bought the phone of) it keeps saying "no sim". I was unable to activate the phone.

I launched iTunes, plugged the iPhone: 'no SIM '.

I tried my SIM own brother who worked before the reset (and also before this 'incident' tray) and it was exactly the same situation.

Then I also tried DFU restore the phone with iTunes, but it was useless.

So I'm pretty sure that the SIM card reader has been damaged. But I still hope that this situation might be link to a software problem.

How can I be sure that the phone detects no SIM card. (I won't call an emergency...)

Thank you very much! It would have been my first smartphone

Sounds like a problem of material for me. I doubt it's worth the money to get that repaired, although the phone.

  • Tecra M5 - SD card reader works with the factory settings

    Hi all
My SD card reader has been in place. It will read a few cards of 4 GB and won't read other (usually newer).
All cards in this problem area are Transcend cards 4GB SD (HC or whatever the format more later is)
The cards, the M5 will not read can be read both my PDA, but also an old Tecra 9000 (who will also tell the other 4 GB cards)

The PC was recently engineers have a problem so I asked to look at this problem. They reported that it was a software problem, because if they load the recovery CD (that is, to bring the machine to factory State) the SD card reader reads cards problem OK; Back to my setup and the SD card reader can not read cards SD - error message is "the request cannot be performed because of an i/o device error."

So I guess that I need new drivers. Very well except that it has no drivers for the drive SD card itself. Its a part of the motherboard. There is a 'secure module SD' on the download from Toshiba site and I downloaded and installed the SD Secure module (dated 2008)
However, Device Manager still shows that the SD host controller driver is Microsoft version 01/10/2002 6.0.4069.5

If anyone has ideas on how to fix

  • CARD reader may not be detected for Toshiba Satellite A100 (PSAARE)

    Hi team,

Please help, as I have Toshiba laptop with model Satellite A100 (PSAARE) which had Vista then I upgraded with Windows XP, now my all software works except the card reader which doesn't detect any card of same SD memmory so that the driver has been installed... Please sat down

Are you certain that the card reader has installed the XP drivers (and they are the exact brand and model of player)?  This is an internal or external card reader?  I suggest that you check with Toshiba to make sure you have all the drivers, firmware, or software required for the card reader (it may just be a pilot - it may need more).  I would also re - download the driver and uninstall the old and reinstall a new where the original has been corrupted for some reason any.  Are you sure that even with the drivers, that this computer model can handle XP completely and that you are not a problem of compatibility (I contact Toshiba Technical Support and confirm what you've done is perfectly possible, including the card reader).

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!
