SD-R2312 will not read DVD or CD in Tecra 8100

My DC - ROM drive (SD-C2302) died. I bought a second hand SD-R2312 indicating various Web sites should work. I installed the connector of the previous disc and put it in the Tecra.
The Tecra struggled to recognize the drive but remove and reinsert the drive sets. Device Manager recognizes the drive SD-R2312 and reports that it works correctly.
However, the drive will not read anything. It vibrates far and finally tells me that the disk is not formatted. I tried pressed CDs and DVDs and burn CDs and DVDs (all - R). These are all the discs that can be read on my other machine.
So, please:
What can I do to make it work (and where can I get the update of the drive/firmware/BIOS)
or is this idea a waste of time, in which case, how will I know what CD drives are compatible with the 8100.
Thanks for any information.

Hello

You can find updates on the Toshiba support page
_eu http://eu.Computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/generic_content.jsp?service=eu&ID=Support_Homepage

But as you can not read any disc, I think that your drive is defective.

Good bye

  • Workstation XW8000 with XP recognizes the new DVD player but will not read DVDs

I just added a DVD player for my HP xw8000 workstation. It is being prepared to try installing Windows 7. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor says that my machine calls brilliantly... all green. Also, because many new software products are released for MSDN on DVD, it is necessary for me to be able to use this DVD ROM.

I installed the DVD drive is recognized by WinXP Pro with all the latest service packs. Shows up as drive E in Explorer, it appears as a CD ROM In Device Manager it is listed as E - IDE DVD - ROM DVD-8212. However this player will not read a DVD!  I tested the DVD media in another more recent machine and it reads very well in a same DVD ROM.

Is there something wrong with the xw8000 it cannot read from a DVD ROM drive?

    Thanks for any help.

Weird that you receive notifications by email of responses. Usually, this is the default setting. When you type a response, it is usaully a box that is checked to receive notifications by e-mail. (Top right)

I agree, the DVD player seems to be defective. It should work with only Windows drivers. The only additional files that you need would be to play movie discs, etc.

Are your jumpers on both drives positioned same_If the cd drive is jumper as master, the other slave as you. If the other player is cavalier CS (cable select) the dvd player must be linked, CS. I think most of the HP machines are CS. Try that to see if it solves. If this isn't the case, maybe time to try another drive.

  • UJDA750 will not read dvd - r

Subject he says all new Tecra M4 and integrated carpet * a UJDA750 DVD/CDRW combo won't read DVD-R, in fact until I uninstalled the DLA & NTI software it's rather rude on the reading of a CD - RW!

What is the point of a new DVD player that can not read the DVD-R commune!

I want to emphasize that the media reads fine in 5 different readers other than that burned the dvd - r to the origin. I have tried 1 x, 4 x & 8 x media with the same disappointing results.

    Hello

I don t know why it isn't possible, but have you checked all other CD for writing?
If this problem occurs with any type of media, so it s best to contact a Toshiba Service partner and ask for verification of the disc.

Read CD - RW discs, to a UDF reader software. Discs CD - RW are written in UDF 1.5 format. This UDF reader software can be downloaded from Adaptec "s web site: www.adaptec.com"

This software can play CD - RW discs written with rewritable CD drives that are written in UDF format. Without UDF reader software, CD-ROM/DVD-ROM in s Toshiba laptops can only read ISO 9660 discs.

  • ODD on my Satellite C70D-A-11F will not read DVDs

WEIRD on my t Satellite C70D-A-11F (05.2014) won read DVDs more. No matter that one I try this simply does not work.
    The latest driver is installed.

    Hello

If the optical disk drive is installed properly maybe bed lens dirty. Try to clean it.

Otherwise, if your ODD can read CD but not DVD it can also be a malfunction of the equipment. The reading lens cannot be calibrated properly and failed to find the right position to read DVD media.

In this case, ODD must be exchanged.

Try to clean the lens and see if the problem still occurs. If so, contact the nearest Toshiba service provider and ask for help.

  • will not read DVD

Why used my Queen rock Montreal or meatloaf bat outa * DVD plays on my computer it tells me that the two are not in this region of the world, but I bought them from walmart in ohio and they play fine on my tv and my car

    Hi Mickey s,.

You want to play the dvd on the computer. I'll help you with the problem.

    1. what application you're using to play the dvd?

    2. have you made changes on the computer recently?

Try these steps and check the result.

    Method 1: Change DVD region
    a. Click Start, type devmgmt.msc and press on enter to open Device Manager.
    b. double-click on CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives, click on the DVD drive that you want, and then click Properties.
    c. on the DVD region tab, make the desired changes.

Note: To configure your DVD drive to play discs from other regions, select a geographic area from the list of regions. As a general rule, you must select the region in which you reside. It is not often necessary to change the setting again.

Important: The region can change only a limited number of times. When changes remaining equals 1, and you select a new region, an alert is displayed to warn you that after this, you only will be able to play DVDs from that region. Be aware that you will not be able to change the region setting for some DVD hardware and software decoders.

Method 2: If the problem persists, run the Windows Media Player DVD Troubleshoot utility and check the result.
Open the Windows Media Player DVD Troubleshoot utility

    For more information.

I-                   Change the region to a DVD player

  • Will not read DVD CD

    I recently received this laptop - a Pavilion dv7 1279.

I put in a cd, but then decided to put another during first loading again so I pushed eject on the drive tray.  The first CD ejected but then when I tried the next cd and other times nothing reads.  It runs for 1 second with a Cd but only run for 10 seconds or so with a DVD, but it doesn't recognize neither.

When I look at 'Computer', it does not show a disc in the drive, but it does not recognize that it is a cd or dvd.  "When you put a cd in, it keeps for a few seconds then ejects it saying I need to put in a cd.

    Can anyone help?  Please...

Device Manager indicates that there are no problems...

I know you can't see me smile but it's so big that my ears are wet.  Your suggested link help out me.  I uninstalled the CD/DVD drive, shut down the computer for a few seconds.  Put under tension, connected, then put Miles Davis in and low and here it is - IT WORKS!  You never doubted.

    Hello, tyINtrouble

The device is listed as a DVD player?

You can check by clicking on start, click computer, and to check the label of the hard drive, he may mention DVD or DVD - RW etc.

You can also check your connections are secure.

If possible, you can try to test the drive in another machine, or another drive in your computer to see if it works properly.

If your hard drive and DVD/CD player are on the same parallel cable connection, it can cause problems as well.

We can't wait to hear back on your part.

  • Windows will not read the disc media

For some reason, windows will not read dvd or cd or the floppy one and the flash drives or cards of the camera with a usb drive. What would cause this and how then I get back to work? All media works on the other pc.

Always connect these devices to drive/USB card edge USB connection (for desktop Front panel USB ports); never use a connector of the control panel back or USB hubs.

Read the page and manually or just download & run fixit MS; It just automatically all the steps

With regard to the FDD. I'll say change the player as FDD get very often defective & now a days it is difficult to get a new one. For the majority of them are now short lived to over-exploitation.

  • Satellite L30: reader will not read CDs or DVDs

In the evening, I was recently testing on various operating systems on my laptop and eventually decided to return to Windows Pro.
It was working fine until a couple of days, but then the hard drive started making a rattling noise, like R/RW head stuck.

Now it will not read CDs or DVDs, can someone please help and tell me if it's a failure of the software or hardware, and the best way to fix it?

    Hello

The drive problems are not uncommon and may still occur.
For the most part the purpose of calibration training does not work correctly.
The objective must be calibrated in the correct position until the player will read or write to the media.
This fault is not reperable and especially the drive needs to be replaced!

  • Re: Satellite A210-12U: Mat * a DVD - RAM UJ-8505 will not read discs - error Code 39

    Hello.

I've had my A210-12U for about five months now, and recently for the past few months I had some problems with the dvd player.

The thing is that the player will not play all discs, the drive will detect that a disc has been inserted, but it will not read. It happened for about a month but its only recently I really know whats been wrong with it.

The drive I currently use is a CARPET * A DVD - RAM UJ-8505 ATA

I scanned the disk for problems with the support toshiba but utility that came with something so I decided to check the drivers.

Windows Vista gave this Message: Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I uninstalled the drivers and drivers on there and installed new ones that I downloaded here on the toshiba site.

What I really want to know is: is this a problem with the drivers? is it a case that the operating system does not detect the hardware? or is this a situation where I should have the disk fixed on its guarantee?

    Hello

Don t worry buddy I put t think that it s a hardware problem. It looks like a corrupted registry entry and it should be solved easily

Completely remove the Upperfilters and Lowerfilters from the following registry key values:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
    and restart the laptop

  • Combo CDR/DVD SDR2102 drive will not read CDs or DVDs

    Hello

    I have a mobile Ergo Elite 4.
The hard drive crashed and I bought a new one.
I have loaded windows XP by using a boot disk but cannot get the Toshiba SDR2102 CDR/DVD combo drive to work. I had to load windows on via USB
    using a USB port.

I can see the drive in windows Explorer, but it will not read the CD or DVD.
I looked in the Device Manager, and it came with no warning mark.
I tried deleteting, re-startup and he's back in the Device Manager.

I'm trying to find a better driver, but it says that I use the best driver.
I tried various Web sites using sand everywhere tells me that I do not need a driver for this drive.
What I do, it seems as if the Combo driver is recognized but it will not be read whatever it is inserted, he said only: insert the disc.

Does anyone know what I can try? or know where I can get drivers for it or software to test the drive?

any help would be appreciated. :-(
    Some.

    Hello

You n t need a special driver for the CD/DVD drive.
CD/DVD players use the current Microsoft drivers already contained in the Windows operating system.

In my opinion, you should first test different types of media. Please note that not all CD or DVD s are compatible. Distribute readers can't handle bad quality mediums.

But we shouldn't t rule out a risk of hardware malfunction.
Disk failure and you may wish to contact your dealer for a replacement.
