Satellite L30: reader will not read CDs or DVDs

In the evening, I was recently testing on various operating systems on my laptop and eventually decided to return to Windows Pro.
It was working fine until a couple of days, but then the hard drive started making a rattling noise, like R/RW head stuck.

Now it will not read CDs or DVDs, can someone please help and tell me if it's a failure of the software or hardware, and the best way to fix it?

Hello

The drive problems are not uncommon and may still occur.
For the most part the purpose of calibration training does not work correctly.
The objective must be calibrated in the correct position until the player will read or write to the media.
This fault is not reperable and especially the drive needs to be replaced!

I looked at my laptop and it takes a maximum of 2 GB of DDR2 RAM, I tried two different pairs of sticks of 1 GB and the two blue screen that loads the OS.

When the sticks do not go it simply ignores the second run, but I can't seem to accept 2 GB.

BTW I have upgraded to a core duo processor, don't give me no problem.

    Known fixes for this problem?

    Hello

Your laptop can be upgraded up to 2 GB of RAM. That s is definitely possible!
You can use 2 modules of memory vivid x1024MB.

If you would taka glance at this page, you will find information that you must use the DDR2 533 MHz (PC2-4200) 200 - PIN SODIMM modules.

I presume that you always get a BSPD because the RAM modules are not fully consistent or simply malfunctioned.

    Hello

We have a Toshiba Satellite L30-101 with 512 MB memory

We also bought 2 X 1 GB-compatible modules to extend the memory to its max.

When we installed the two new modules the laptop won't boot.

We tried to install one at the time and both work individually. I also tried 1 X 512 MB

It seems that we are not the only one with this problem!

I think that you have incompatible modules for mode dual channel.
    What RAM do you have?

A module is maybe corrupted and so he doesn t run in mode dual channel.

You can check the module with a program like Memtest86: [www.memtest86.org]

  • Satellite Pro A60 will not start up CD/DVD

I have the above and it does not start from cd/dvd. I know that the cd/dvd is bootable and works well. I can boot from the floppy drive and access the cd/dvd without problem, but that dose not allow me to load windows XP. If this is not the drive or the cd/dvd. So what is the problem?

    Hello

How did you try to boot from the CD drive?
Have you tried to press the C key immediately after starting the laptop?

Alternatively, you can press F12. The start menu should appear and you should be able to choose the drive as a boot device.

  • Windows media player cannot read CDs and DVDs

MS supports says my Player DVD is dead and needs a new drive. So, I just install a new ROM DVD and still have the same problem - cannot read CDs and DVDs.

When I play the CD, I always get the error meessage--(lecteur Windows media a rencontré une erreur lors de la lecture de lecteur de CD en mode numérique...). 'Digital' is selected under the tool-> properties-> device.

When I play DVD, it is frozen my laptop or keep spinning and froze the Windows Explorer and the reader.

I was able to read DVDs and CDs once after a few restart. During playback of CD the WMP abruptly stopped with error message and since that time cannot play CD DVD & more.

So far, I did a few fixs that I found online and nothing wroks:

    * No upperfilter or UpperFilter registry

    * Uninstall and let the laptop automatically reinstall the driver

    * Ms. Fix it gives different results every time I run the fix-(1) detects no problem and therefore no patches have been applied (2) the main media in the CD drive is not readable (same CD has played correctly when using external USB DVD rom)

Can someone help and let me know what that could be the problem and how to fix it! Thank you!

    Hi Amy,

You can read the following article to clear the Windows Media Player database and check if it helps.

You cannot view, add, or delete items in the library of Windows Media Player 11

If you have any third-party media player installed on the system, then check if the DVD player works with it.

In my opinion, your battery is dead.
My old battery was always full, but I could use the laptop to only for 1 min.

  • Satellite A 200 will not be stopped correctly

My Satellite A 200 will not be closed down whemn I close the system. Only solution I can use is now 'hard' shut down, using power button, but this isn't the right way.

Is this a known poblem? Can you give us some solution?
    Jeroen pool

Maybe a process that runs in the context of the operating system can't shut down properly and therefore the Windows operating system cannot stop.
I've seen questions on different computers.

I think you should try to clean the registry with the 3rd tools i.e. CCLeaner. It s for free and can be downloaded from various sites.

If it does not help check if the new OS install helps solve this problem.

  • My windows will not recognize my CD/DVD drive

My computer crashed recently and since then windows will not recognize my CD/DVD drive. My removable disk (e :)) is there, but I was told that windows cannot access the disk.) Also when I try to eject a developed error warning.

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are

  • Burned DVD will not play on a DVD player

I downloaded a 22 minute video I want to burn to a DVD in my DVD player.  I tried on the DVD-R and DVD + R.  They burn the disk but will not play on the DVD player.  The error message indicates that the reading is not available on this disc.  I used the windows search support to problem solve on my own, but have had no success.  I made sure that I am selecting the option of CD/DVD drive to use the ISO image format.  I entered my option and I have no filters.  I have the video on NTSC format since I'm Pennsylvania / U.S..  I have not tried burning on slow or average speed because it burns the DVD without problem it just will not playback on the DVD player.  What do you recommend as my next plan of action for troubleshooting.

I guess that the video is not DVD compatible Mpeg2.  According to the DVD player, some will play other formats, too.  If there is no program for video on the computer, try Windows Movie Maker (free) to see if the video will too be converted to standard DVD Mpeg2.

  • T520 will not use any device DVD

    People,

I was going to do a backup, when I noticed that the DVD player was no longer under my computer.

I when in Device Manager, where he showed with a yellow X... I tried to update the device driver, it said that I had the right device. I've done many other things - nothing has worked.

I really wanted to get the backup made, so I took my portable DVD player/burner and plugged. The laptop computer found a loaded device OK... but it does not appear in my computer. I had the same problem as the DVD drive internal.

Then I got a USB drive external Passport, connected to the same USB port, no problems... He mounted the disk and I made the backup.

My T520 will not use any device DVD... ideas?

I did a quick search and voila. See the Windows 7 box.
