I have never had any problems with nVidia drivers before that. So everyone can learn from my experience is 306.97 nVidia display driver and the problem edits are KB2756872 and KB2770917 for Windows 8 64-bit.

  If the problem "not genuine" do not resurface, I will apply these updates, reboot and see if the problem can be reproduced.  Finally, unless a problem with updates is identified.  I kind of doubt the updates were the issue, but just eliminate the variables.
