Windows Update: Windows update Setup failed...
Install Windows 8 Pro upgrade, Windows 7, the two 64-bit, yesterday. Installation went well and everything seems to work. I had to reboot tonight and got the message "Installing Update 2 of 11, (etc.) do not disconnect or turn off your computer. Do not touch anything during the time that he finished all updates 11. Restarts and then delivers the message: 'Windows update Setup failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer"the whole process takes about 30 minutes before I was back at the lock screen and could connect.
Go to Windows Update in Control Panel and it indicates what it y 11 important available updates, which wouldn't be fair because they do not have. Then, I simply restarted... nothing more. Received the message "" Installing Update 2 of 11... "." as before, restarts and then get the message: 'Windows update Setup failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer"all over again for 30 minutes.
No idea where to look for that could be the cause of the problem? Anyone else had this experience?

I tried to copy the CBS.log to a folder, then opening the files to search for an error code. I couldn't find any error code. These files are large I can remember something small.
Try this first: -.
Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-Windows-Update-TroubleshooterIf no joy, then
1. open Windows Update by clicking the Start button, all programs and then click Windows Update.
2. in the left pane, click view update history.
3. find an update for Windows that has failed to install, and then double-click the update to view more information.
Updates that have failed to install will display failed under status, next to the name of update.
4. in the Windows Update dialog box, next to the details of the error, review the error code for the update has failed.
5. follow the links in the dialog box of Windows Update as more information or help and Support to try to resolve the problem or post back with more information on what the error code can be.Harold Horne / TaurArian [MVP] 2005-2011. Hello
I have an Acer with Vista SP2. It has no boot and auto repair after that I stupidly shut the computer manually during a Windows Update.
I fell asleep and woke up two hours after the start of the update of Windows. Then without thinking, I did a manual stop without recognizing the update restart message. Now Windows does not start, and the auto repair / recovery options have failed three times. Initially he gave me a (?) CMOS settings have changed the error so I went into Setup (with the delete key) and note the date / time has been reset to the date of manufacture of the computer, do not change that. I have however system virus detection function then it off after that repair failed the first time.
I bought a second hand computer and I have no original discs and I can't find a manually created recovery disc I thought I made some time ago. The label of Windows with Windows Vista Home Premium product key is on the computer. I have access to a Windows 7 CD since another cmputer if this can help me.
I sent thisquestion from another computer.
Your help would be much appreciated.

How can I get rid of this stupid message and have a normal boot. This took place yesterday, and it's a real pain. How can I get rid of this.
I had this problem 2 days in a row. Windows 7 Edition Home Premium. "Automatic updates" not ended and I got the same message on restart and had to wait for it to timeout.
I tried "manually" update, and that fixed the problem.
Go to the control panel. Click on system and security. Click on Windows Update and follow the instructions. I selected the updates recommended, installed and rebooted. Problem solved.
(I have no idea why this problem occurred. In the "Windows Update", I opened the "update history" and saw the 'Impossible' updates, but I don't dig deeper than that.)

If I click Yes - I get another error in script-
tank line 132 5 - the rest is the same - if I click Yes on this - he asked me if he was running well - then he said to run with other parameters, which I did - program updates or windows update works
If I click the program updates in the control panel I get errors - IE Script object doesn' manages this file or this method
file
rebooted - start and stop the service.
Have you tried to use the Microsoft Fix It tool to reset the Windows Update components for you: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058?
If this does not work, try to run the Microsoft OneCare safety scanner. Sometimes it will solve problems of hidden registry, or can clear the virus that can prevent the installation of the patches: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm. Click full service scan, and then Quick scan (full scan takes a long time to complete). Try the patches.

Windows VISTA no real Build 6002 message after Windows updates
To start the message was superimposed in the lower right corner "this copy of Windows is not genuine". I think there's a quick activation was wearing popup at startup I caught a glimpse of. I did a scan with Avast boot time, which is a malware/gen inside old Western Digital MyBook utility zip installation file, I got avast delete (I did use the device, since it stopped working 2 years ago).
I started in safe mode, done rstrui.exe, selected a restore point on 30 December 2011, which was PRIOR to an installation of Windows Update, but after the download. After restoration, virus definitions updates, boot time scan with Avast... the zip file of WD to the old address will not flagged as infected (but I deleted later anyway). Even now, Windows is genuine.
Updates automatically installed after the reboot:
Windows Defender Update - KB915597 definition 1.117.1973.0 definition... Note that this appears as installed December 30, 2011 also.
I have disabled the automatic updates of Windows installation. Here are the updates waiting to be installed...
Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 SP1 KB2656353
[same] 2.0 SP2 KB 2656362
[same] 3.5 SP1 KB 2657424
[even] 4 KB 2656351
If the problem "not genuine" do not resurface, I will apply these updates, reboot and see if the problem can be reproduced. Finally, unless a problem with updates is identified. I kind of doubt the updates were the issue, but just eliminate the variables.
"Virus found by avast was almost certainly a false positive - the file two years ago, then he must have been scanned hundreds of times since and probably spent every time.
A Non-genuine message may appear as a result of a "race condition" where a number of processes is competing for resources or files - and the Service for the Protection of software is one of them. This causes a notification to appear, which often diappears on its own later or at the next startup.
Unless the notification remains standing thanks to a couple of boots, I worry too much on this subject.
My preference for the .NET updates is to install them separately, one at a time, to reduce the risk of conflict. You must also leave the machine for about 10 minutes after the restart of an update of .NET, because it often takes some time to "optimize" the installation later.
