Search a word in the bar does not address.

I've been away from my desk for a week and now in the address bar searches do not work. For example, I used to just try 'type' in the search bar and the tab would show a list of Google searches. Two words work well. Any help would be much appreciated. I tried to reset search, change the keyword and the correction in all: config.
