Search in documents

On Windows XP the advanced search tool (where the little dog was) allows you to search documents and search time even for the words in the documents allowed. "For example I could search for titles of documents containing the words ' expose for disciplinary ', and then that documents containing the words"absence ". Is it possible to do this in Windows 8?

Yes - if you use the modern GUI, simply type your keyword or phrase, and then click "Files" when the sidebar is displayed...

Who research in the documents as well as in securities...

To perform a search in a search, it seems that you must type in your two settings both as "outline for disciplinary absence."

  • Search for documents with attachments

Is their way to update a search query to return only documents HTML attachments?

I think that using the dRendition1 parameter you would get content items according to your requirement for specific attachments.

For example: to list all content items with attachments that have been added to the option "Add attachments" contained actions, use the following query:

    QueryText = dRendition1 'Z '.

T - gives a list of all the jpg thumbnails

G - would give the list of all gif thumbnails

P - would give the list of all thumbnails of png

X would give attach list XML all elements (those who have threads)

So, by changing the value of rendition1 parameter, you can get the search to return only elements that have some form of attachments.

    For example: http://hostname/ReportServer: port/cs/idcplg? IdcService = GET_SEARCH_RESULTS & QueryText = dRendition1 'Z' & SortField = dInDate & SortOrder = Desc & ResultCount = 100

    I hope this helps.

  • Search for documents

What can I do to search for a document?  The search function does not work!

Try this out.  Open your file Explorer by clicking on the taskbar of the desktop or pressing the shortcut +E.  When it is open, go to the folder where you store your documents (such as your Documents folder).  If you don't know which folder the file is located inside, you can go to the 'Computer' section instead.

When you are there, type a word in the name of the file, or in the file in the search box. You can also search by criteria, such as when the file has been modified.

Here, I searched modified: last week for all files that I changed last week (14-20).

In seeking a document with its metadata on a repository that contains millions of records, what is the best practice, it is to store files of contribution or contribution files?

If it's on Contribution records, will be nesting records cause performance degradation and how we can overcome the disadvantage of having only 1000 folders inside the contribution files?

    Kindly help us on this

RIDC can be used with folders_g records and the frame (FF). Note that the current service manual lists only services of FF - Records Services - 11 g Release 1 (11.1.1)

I don't think that FF has no limitation on the number of subfolders (I've heard many times that this has been resolved, do not know if this is documented somewhere). Whatever it is, as the main goal is the Organization of the content subfolders should follow the logical organization of content that users are accustomed. In this perspective, such a large number of records is rarely necessary - a use case could be personal folders of the users, and even this can be solved by other means.

Indexes for searches are created mainly in Configuration Manager. Only a few very large systems may require optimization of performance by a DBA directly in the database.

  • SDK to allow the search of documents in Adobe Reader

Are you there a SDK available that will allow the search for a document in Adobe Reader?  I would prefer something that can be used in c# or c++.  I know that the DDE and IAC SDK are available for Adobe Acrobat, but they do not work with Adobe Reader.

I think you would be much better to ask in the forum SDK, which is here:

This is the forum to drive.

  • Search for documents after adding user accounts

A few days earlier, I added two user accounts (an administrator and a user).  After that I added these accounts and started to use it, I discovered that I could not find or access my old documents (word .doc files, etc.).   Is anyway to find or recover them?  Thank you.

    Hello

Were they stored in my documents folder in the profiles earlier if yes, use admin previlages on an account, you will be able to access documents stored in profiles more early. You will need to navigate to c:\Documents and Settings, you will find all the profile names. Navigate to the required profile and check in my documents.

  • Search text documents case-sensitive records

Vista support case-sensitive text searches for records?  If so, how?

    Thank you

    Hello viper158,

Content research are focused on the floor, are not case-sensitive and cannot be made so. However, capital letters or characters of punctuation in the words are considered as starting a new Word and can be found. For example, a search for "hop" returns files that contain Hip Hop HipHop or hip hop but not Hiphop.

  • Search within documents does not work

    Hi all

I'm a technical support engineer in a company and we are facing following problem.

For some users the windows search returns no results when you search for specific words that are written in a PDF (windows search) file is stored locally or on a network drive.

    We have already tried

    1. we checked the parameters of indexation (search is enabled for files indexed and non-indexed) in the Index options = > Advanced Options = > file types = > pdf filter is indicated in the description of filter and we scored "properties of the index and contents of the folder.

This problem is not really related to Adobe Reader. It's a matter of Windows.

  • Searching for documents following the creation of a Lookup Table

    Hello

Please excuse my ignorance, but I just created a table of choice by using the wizard in SQL Studio. Fine text has been replaced by numbers. My problem is that when I do a search now using a drop-down list based on a query that that returns records based on other numbers as well. It's so "2" refers to an element research takes something that contains a 2: 2,21,22, etc. How can I get the query to return a value for the selected number and not anything that contains this number?

    and)

    Here are two possible solutions

    and (instr(upper('~'||"MODEL_ID"||'~'),upper(nvl('~'||:P40_REPORT_SEARCH||'~',"MODEL_ID"))) > 0)

    or

    AND model_id = NVL(:P40_REPORT_SEARCH, model_id)

The first is often used for components such as shuttles. I think I added the special characters in the right place - not tested/verified against my previous example
The second is perhaps more appropriate for your scenario, based on your data.

  • How to set up the search to find key words in documents.

I would get the search in Documents set up in Explorer.  Preferably right click on a folder and select find and have it search in all documents in this folder for a keyword.

If not for the moment, I tried using the search within the Explorer box with my chosen open file and put the keyword in.  There is no option under the search box to select "to the bosom of documents".  I changed my settings to Index > advanced > Types of files tab to 'Properties Index and the file content' and included the folder containing the documents in the list in the index, but research in Solution Explorer is still not find the keyword in the text of the documents in the selected folder.

    No idea what I'm missing?

    Thank you!

With the help of Explorer windows.  on the left side, select the folder you want to search.
Then enter in the upper right corner (search box) you want to search for, lets say 'test '.

The first Windows will search for all files that have a 'test' as part of the file name, but if you

Scroll to the bottom of the search results, you can see the following:

    Search in:

Libraries / computer / Custom / Internet / content of the file

Click on the content of the file and it will search the files for the keyword 'test '.

  • How to search for a document based on the contents of the document

on windows xp, I could search a document based on a combination of search criteria, including part of the name of the document or a word or phrase in a document. How is a search based on the content on Windows 7?

In general, you can simply type the content in the search box and it will find.  It highlights the content that it matched in the search results (kind of like an online search).  Here's an example where I typed the word "liberation".

You can also combine this with the file name searches.  For example, you can type *.xls release to find all the Excel files with the word "release" in them.  If your sentence content includes spaces, put double quotes around it 'product release 12' for example.
