Security clearance

If it is a little hard to explain. So I got a new Dell with Windows, the most recent before 10 of Windows (I have not downloaded this update yet). I downloaded UTorrent on my computer. Now when I click on the desktop icon it says I have to complete the installation, but before I do the computer makes me verify that I am the owner of the administrative account for the computer (I am the only account on this subject). So I type my password and it continues. So I go through the process of installation, but when its time to finish, I hit "finish installation" and an error screen pops up in form of the computer. He said something along the lines that I have "are not allowed to access this link, the path, the file", etc. etc., but don't tell me where or how I can get this permission. Not sure how to get this 'permission' or something else, especially when I have the only account on the laptop and I am the administrator account (I think). Thank you.

Hello

Please contact Microsoft Community.

1 - is it is only for the program that you are trying to download?

2 did you nay changes to the computer before the show?

I suggest you try the mentioned method and check if it helps:

Error "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file" when you try to install, update or launch a program or file

I hope this helps.

  • Setting in hypervisor security clearance

    Hello

We test VSphere 4.1 ESXi and VSphere Client. It will join a Windows 2003 domain.

My question is: so far I see only the possibility of set 3 permission levels. No access, read-only and the administrator.

Is it possible (with only ESXi and VSphere Client) to make granular for an instance of server permission settings when someone connects to the hypervisor via VSphere Client? I wish if lower level administrators were able to do a few things with each server instance, which being of start and stop. I don't want to give them the ability to do anything destructive, such that remove the server instance to change the variables of material.

  • Security issues for XP Pro to format hard drive in a Vista Home Premium computer

My laptop was running XP Pro.  A few days ago, I accidentally spilled a glass of water on it and the computer died.  I took apart an old external 2.5 drive I had and inserted the laptop drive so that I could recover the files from my laptop.  The other computer in the House is the Office of my wife in Vista Home Premium.  Here's my problem:

The Vista computer will read the reader very well except for the fact that I can't access many of my files due to the security clearance.  I understood that in Vista, I can take possession, but so far, I figured out how to make it only one file at a time.  For example, I took possession of a record, but then I had to take care of the folders inside this folder, and then I had to take possession of individual files inside this folder.  Even when I try to open a Word document that I have to go through the security process complete to open it.

Is it possible for me to have access to everything by changing some settings in Vista.  Finally, I'm going to buy a new laptop, and I need to transfer all my files to it.  I don't want to have to get clearance for thousands of files one at a time.  Help, please.

    Thank you

It is more permissions that it owns.  I guess almost all of the files to copy are in the Documents and settings folder.  So give yourself permissions to full right for all files and folders and subfolders of this folder (both in the main section and in particular advanced section - and don't forget to check the box to include all the files and subdirectories).  That should do the trick.

If you are still having problems - maybe these can help you get through them, here is more information about permissions and ownership:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have:http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista:http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/. To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To solve this problem with folders, folders takeownership or the reader (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder:http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html. To add take ownership in the menu of the right click (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article:http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/add-take-ownership-to-explorer-right-click-menu-in-vista/.

    I hope this helps.

I did but it still doesn't work. I then tried to restore files without reassigning security clearance and I still have problems. Any ideas on how to get these files on my new hard drive. Thank you!

Using your computer connected to the external HARD disk, try to reset the permissions and/or ownership of the entire disk to your user account - give yuurself in its own right.  You may need to add your user name as administrator on the external HARD drive.  Here are the instructions on how to do things:

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.  To add take and the issuance of right of permissions and ownership in the right click menu (which will make it faster to get once it is configured), see the following article: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2009/05/21/take-and-grant-full-control-permissions-and-ownership-in-windows-7-or-vista-right-click-menu/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). ============================================================================================================

Here is an article on the restore procedure: http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files to make sure you do this right.  It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a full restore from a full backup) - but since you did a full backup, it matches your process more closely than would a full restore.

This is a GREAT article on the backup and restore processes in Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.09.backup.aspx , but he won't go into detail about the restoration process - considering almost as easy, of course.  But it teaches you a lot about what is possible and how to do it.  But it focuses mainly on a full backup, it addresses both full and incremental backups.

Here is an article on the advanced use of restoration (during normal restore does not work): http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/08/06/Avdvanced-Restore-via-Windows-Vista-Backup-and-Restore-Center.aspx.

I also found the following (but don't know if it of true or not):

    1. after the start of "backup and Restore Center."

    2. I chose "Advanced Restore"

    3. I was did not an administrator password... maybe because my account is an administrator account.

4 choose "files from a backup made on a different computer.

    5. in the dialog box indicating "Select the location of the backup to restore", select "hard drive, CD or DVD...". »

    6. under the drop-down list box, select your drive/partition and continue

    7. If all the backups on your drive, it will show a list of them.

    8. in my case, he showed a backup, but in the backup location, it will show "backup location is not available."

    9. I was frustrated, but then I somehow just select this backup (Yes... even if he said that the backup location is not available " ")

    10. and you press "next".

    11 guess what... no error!

    12. a window appeared asking me if I wanted to do a full restore, or I want to select specific folders or files.

    13. I selected the folders I wanted to restore and bingo... it their restored smoothly.

    14. so that the next time see a mistake, try to continue with him... ;)

I don't know if this will help, but it does not provide much information about the process (when it works).  I hope you find any error or discrepancy in your procedure and it will clear up and allow you to restore.

    I hope this helps.

    (1) used the subinacl tool to reset my security clearance on all the registry files grant complete access to administrators and system without success

    (2) have started my pc using MSCONFIG in a configuration minimum diabling all non-microsoft services, and it did not solve my problem.

    (3) I tried to add/remove a feature of Windows like Windows Media Player and when the shuttdown system displays a msg saying that Windows could not configure your system so that the new setting, windows will revert to the previous state. and the media player is always on display.

The fact that the Diagnostic Policy Service does not stop me using my Dial-up connection using a wireless modem using the PC card, it gives me Error 797 Port is not available. My dial-up show property of connection in the general tab, under connect using this says: device Unailable deleted (). So I have no internet on PC card, even if the device is detected by Windows and I see it as Iburst Terminal.

I also have a problem, when I click on the phone and Modem in Control Panel, I get following error: phone and Modem Control Panel can not be opened. You can have a problem starting Telephony Service.

I checked the Telephony Service it is configured to automatically and it is started. (I tried stop/Start) but doesn't solve is not my problem.

    Dear I.  Suuresh Kumar,

Your silence to my post 2 has left me no choice to do a repair of Windows 7 upgrade. For the people who run the same problem, I found that it was the only alternative because none of Microsoft could give me an answer. I found a post that explains how to make a repair upgrade, which, for me, took place between 13:30 and completely finished and successuflly at 20:00.

What it does, it re - install a clean version of Windows and keeps all your programs/settings/drivers/connections etc... intact. It was my solution. My system is now clean and without any problem. TKS at the following link.

When I try to copy a file to a removable drive, it shows me an error "YOU NEED PERMISSION TO PERFORM THIS ACTION."

I also tried to change the setting, but it shows no security tab in the properties of the removable device

Being that the drive is using the FAT32 file system, there is no security clearance, whatever she is available to control access at the local level, the only FAT32 permissions available share permissions, but sharing on FAT32 permissions restrict access to the network only, no access by users working directly on the computer.  This leads me to believe that a policy of access to removable devices or media control is enabled on the computer.
