I'm Lions to hide the general and the security of the Internet options window tabs in firefox, so students cannot access and reconfigure the browser to save usernames and passwords. It's easy to do with Internet explorer via local group policy.
use a mozilla.cfg file in the Firefox program folder to lock the prefs or specify new default values.
Place a local file - settings.js in the defaultspref folder where you will also find the channel - prefs.js to specify using mozilla.cfg file.
pref("general.config.filename", "mozilla.cfg"); pref("general.config.obscure_value", 0); // use this to disable the byte-shift

Slow connections to the internet wireless
I have problems with my wireless with my brand new Dell laptop running Vista 32 bit. I spent a lot of time to read about it online but have not been able to solve my problem. Here are my steps, I took so far
D/led drivers Dell Wireless
-J' uninstalled McAfee Security Center
-disabled autotuning, rss, tcp/ip v6
-Flashed the firmware newest on the router (netgear WGR614 v5)
-set levels of power for maximum performance on batteryWired product than the internet very fast speeds so it's a wireless issue. My other laptop running XP THAT works well on wireless so I think it must be related to Vista SP2(even ran the same virus scan programs on both computers). Some pages load more quickly, but as soon as I'm lulled into a false sense of security on the internet speed, I get hit with a page very slow loading Web or the connection is lost (although I am still connected to my wireless network).
Any suggestions? This has been a very frustrating and aggravating, issue especially with a brand new computer.
Thank you.

work well. Were there more of them on this system even if you have uninstalled them when they leave often remains

Try actually updated your driver on the site of the manufacturer of the device if possible, and by disabling the network logon.
It's the generic drivers up to date, and you did the part at Dell.

Right click on the Wifi device and UNINSTALL - Reboot - it will refresh the driver stack.Look at the sites of the manufacturer for drivers - and the manufacturer of the device manually.

danger of the use of the Internet Routable IP space on network internal
Hello
We have a 16 IPv4 space which is recorded for us. For years we used these network on our internal network. We have layers of security separating the internal networks of the internet.
Recently I was asked about best practices and security using the internet routable IP on my internal network. Can someone explain to me what threat posed by really?
Thank you
Dan
Hi Dan,.
One of the fundamental principles of the internet was to provide end-to-end connectivity. NAT killed this idea but with IPv6, we have 'enough' address space public to make it workable again.
If you want security uses a firewall/ids/ips. Private addressing is not safer, anyone who tells you otherwise must have his head in the sand! :) Of course private address protects you from the outside
recognition, but once one of these servers on private address that you have exposed to the internet through port forwarding or NLBs is compromised then the false confidence in security RFC1918 is eroded, as an attacker can start hopping around your internal network... and regarding your users emails offering £££ of unclaimed funds Bank Nigerian and hovering content compromise opening flash...Protect your network from the internet, your servers to your users and your servers to your servers!
The University where I work also has a 16, and although we now go to addressing more private because we have exhausted our share (!) and moving private allowing for aggregation of the good path and one model simple address.
see you soon,
SEB.

Immediately after that I downloaded the updates of security of firefox that my computer cannot access the internet. I still have a connection without wire fine but Firefox, Internet Explorer, Itunes and other programs no longer have internet access, saying that there is a connection error. I tried to restore my system to an earlier date, but he said that a security plan it prevented to do.
What is called the safety program? Is this by chance Win 7 Security ? There's a rogue AV app which prevents access to the internet by that name. It comes in many different scents, but it is basically the same product with different names depending on the sound operating system aiming to see screenshot.
You have another computer, that you can use to download Malwarebytes? Or you can get a friend to download it for you and copy it to a USB key? Download here: http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
You can use the USB to transfer the program on your own PC and then install it.

How can I secure my laptop when I surf the internet via a public router at work?
How can I secure my laptop when I surf the internet via a public router at work? I mean if I use a router to work and others use too and I use a private laptop! I heard that someone hase the knoladge he can enter my laptop the couscous that he uses the same router I do. you have a special program for that, or is there a place in my computer that I need to enable to avoid the unwanted entries?
If your Windows is updated and your Windows Firewall is enabled and that you have updated anti-virus, that would be fine. In Windows 7, you must check Action Center in Control Panel to see your security status, if something is wrong that it will show a message in Windows XP and Windows Vista, he calls the center of security.
They may only enter your laptop or hack, if your firewall is disabled or there is a vulnerability in your system or a Malware would cause of vulnerability, and in all cases to ensure that your Windows updates and anti-virus is running, you are protected.
Another thing is that if your router requires the password, then choose strong password and change it regularly, if it is public without password or authentication, then you need to careful when visiting Web sites because they could be monitor and publicly display information. Some websites have encryption that in Internet Explorer, it shows as a lock icon pad indicating that your transaction is encrypted and you're safe.
It depends also wireless encryption in your company that will be in service by admin or SOUND Department if it's WPA2 which is good but for WEP or WPA, you should be very careful. I suggest to discuss this issue with your COMPUTER service too.

is it safe to access the internet after April 8 if I bought independent security of AVG?
I have a full day of security system, so probably protect my computer even if is no longer, I'll get Windows updates?
It is never 100% secure access to internet at any time, no matter what security software is installed and what operating system is running. After April 8, the XP operating system will be more and more insecure as and when new ways to exploit the vulnerabilities of Microsoft surface will not provide fixed by Windows Update. As its use XP dies offshore, I think that there will come a time where criminals lose XP and move their efforts towards OSs more popular but I can't say when it will be, no one can.

AVG Internet Security maintains the 'blocking' Windows updates
I am running Windows XP Home SP3 on my machine. I recently pushed a rootkit/trojan infection. My AVG Internet Security v9 is running and updated very well... something which it did in a month because of the infection. My Windows Firewall and automatic updates are enabled. (Which is also disabled during infections). I went to the Microsoft site and downloaded/installed the critical updates 43 (the infection had turned off automatically updated). However all the time I download and install the updated my AVG kept popping up with a deadlock message:
'au.download.windowsupdate.com/msdownload/update/software/crup/2012/07_467626d3805abcce3d926b85d8928a20d5edc05b.exe '.
(I continued to close the notification window and download or install updates. Each of them went through).
My Windows security shield has an exclaimation point on this subject.
Is it is a sort of conflict between AVG and update of Windows?
Please HELP... it makes me craaaaazy since it appears every 20 seconds or so!
Thank you very much
LuniLadi
Anoop P K,.
Thanks for the suggestion on disabling the antivirus! I didn't turn off the whole program (which would be 'reisdent shield' on AVG). I have disabled the internet part (shield online) since it pops up constantly during the update downloads.
Sure enough... that did the trick. Updates downloaded and installed.
This part of the virus program is turned back on.
So far so good. Automatic updates seems to be to download and install without any interference of AVG Internet Security.
Thank you for taking the time to help.
