  A number of us have had similar problems, at least with E420s.  The solution to this is to send it to a service center and they will replace the motherboard if the system is still under warranty. I'm on my second dose this in 4 months!

My computer has problems finding networks so I restarted it by using the restart function, and when it will ever stop finished back.   I ended up taking my laptop to a tech repair shop and found out that the problem was the motherboard - I had to pay for a new part and pay for this service, luckily the place is a fair price and only cost me the price of a new laptop. It sucks that I have had the computer for less than two years and I have to do an important replacement, but at least I know never buy another laptop HP again! Good luck!
