I get error code 0 x 8007005. I tried several fixes, including one designated for error 0 x 8007003 (rename file) download at download.old as well as the use of aggressive mode on Microsoft Fixit. Always fails to update. All other updates installed correctly, including a new this morning, but of course update continues offering that failed. Any ideas on how to get this installed? This is a relatively new, so I'm not sure that the problem is that it is already there, but the first failure was around 40 of the 51 when I check the history update file.   I ran the 'Fix It' program. Had no effect whatsoever. My Windows XP looks ok in all other respects, except one: it will not install any version of Direct X from a previous version has been uninstalled months ago - I'm sure that it's irrelevant, but I mention it for completeness.   If you go to programs and features, and then on the left side you should see a link for "Daily display installed."  Which would then show the list of updates with the State which will show you if it failed or not.
