Always fails to update. All other updates installed correctly, including a new this morning, but of course update continues offering that failed. Any ideas on how to get this installed? This is a relatively new, so I'm not sure that the problem is that it is already there, but the first failure was around 40 of the 51 when I check the history update file.   I ran the 'Fix It' program. Had no effect whatsoever. My Windows XP looks ok in all other respects, except one: it will not install any version of Direct X from a previous version has been uninstalled months ago - I'm sure that it's irrelevant, but I mention it for completeness. That said, it seems to behave normally.

  Oh and I disabled my Avast antivirus so it can't be blamed either. Ideas anyone? Thank you!

  Please open your control panel > programs feature add / remove and check that all other Windows XP updates security for may 2012 (i.e. KB2676562 + KB2695962 + KB2659262) all are listed. If only KB2686509 is missing (don't not listed as installed) you can go to your Windows directory and search for a log file named: faultykeyboard.log

  You can now go to this thread (KB2686509 repeatedly fails with error 0x8007F0F4 code) where you have 3 options to resolve this problem:

  (1) glance to 2nd marked "Answer" Post (of Christian S.) and try to run its new VB Script (at your own risk - if necessary) as described in this report.

  OR...
