Serscan.sys

I have installed my HP printer 6500 wireless and every time I start up I get a message that says that the serscan.sys on Windows XP Home Edition CD ROM file is necessary. The path it is looking is C:\WINDOWS\system32\DRVSTORE\hpwscu01_D71A5E815C9E 2CE251F9E09D25F138E2D0C53F2A\i386. He did not here. I did a search for this file on the hard drive and it did not. The computer came loaded with Windows XP Home Edition, so I do not have the CD. I called HP and they spent 1/2 hour looking around my computer and download of some fixed but could not find the file either. The printer works wirelessly, but it's a pain whenever I start my computer. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm trying to get an HP printer to work.  The software will not end because it cannot fine Serscan.sys.  As far as I know all my service modules are underway.  How can I get Serscan installed?

I have no more drive.  I'm sol?

I'm not clear on the problem now. If you can find Drivers.cab in the c:\Windows\Driver Cache\i386 folder, then you should be able to look inside the it with something like WinZip or WinRAR and extract the SerScan.sys file on a location that can reach the installation of HP.

By the articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base, I know that there are two legitimate versions of SerScan.sys, one for XP SP2 (ver. 5.1.2600.3029) and the other for XP SP3 (ver. 5.1.2600.5612). You need the right version for your own XP, so getting the Drivers.cab file on your own machine is the best method.

  • What fix for serscan.sys used?

I had some difficulties to install and set up my new wireless printer.  The phase of wireless connection requires serscan.sys that is not on my computer running xp family, with a hidden recovery partition I don't know how to access, apart from reinstalling windows.

I found the fix page that appears at this address but it lists 2 patches, one for the service pak 2, one for service pack 3.  This wouldn't be a problem, knowing that I have run service pack 3, but the download page does not list the patches according to this criterion.  the version name of single file given in the entry of the initial aid is also not used in the download page, which uses a file name for each of the 2 options.  The release of the 2 options are sp3 and sp4.

This brings me to wonder - what patch should I download and install?

I would appreciate an answer quickly in interest rule of my patience and composure, there will be a cookie for the first.  :-)

  • ink advantage 4675: missing serscan.sys for installation of the scanner

I'm trying to get this all in one printer scanner to work with my HP DV6 windows 8.1 x64machine and so far everything I've gotten is grief.
This was initially the installation cannot find a file to install same (serscan.sys)
All other posts said I need for an XP operating system file.
Found one online, downloaded and run Setup to download folder, where he stopped at the second location request to the file where the installer says the file was not signed by microsoft.
Put the same file in the C:/windows/inf folder and finally installed, but the scanner does not.

Running the printer HP scanner doctor said there was a problem in the device manage and the unit had to be uninstalled. At this point, the only thing I can figured is the unsigned serscan file which was not duly signed.
Got a serscan.sys since one machine virtual XP, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer with the new file in the inf folder and now the installer throws an error message...
return to the downloaded file installed, the device but the printer does not work.

I think I found the propblem... the serscan.sys downloaded internet and even I got the XP machine.
Went in Windows/inf and deleted the serscan.sys.

Then windows/system32 and did a search for the serscan.sys where research has found two files, an old man of about 2014(*i think) in a repository in system32 folder and another who was very new in the folder system32 himself.
I copied the serscan.sys of the repository and pasted into the windows/inf and the folder windows/system32, a reinstallation of the software of 123.hp.com and everything worked!

  • Ask serscan.sys file while setting up wireless printer

Original title: lack file printer "sersan.sys".

I want to marry my windows XP for the HY4500 wireless printer. The copouter is wireless, but the CD HP says a file is missing. Is it installed more than 90%, but when I was in the final stage (Plug and unplug printer then) it said 'missing file sersan.sys' and said to install my XP discs but do not have. Can someone send me this file?

    Hello

    1. did you of recent changes on the computer?
    2. how the printer is connected to the computer?

This error message occurs generally when you install the printer on a network.
When the printer asks the CD then I would suggest that you navigate to below the location by using the option of browser and check if it helps.
    C:\WINDOWS\Driver Cache\I386

If the previous step fails, then you will need the Windows XP installation CD to go further or contact the printer manufacturer for assistance.

    Hi Michael,

Serscan.sys (serial Imaging Device Driver) is located in the folder C:\Windows\System32\drivers.

Similar to the operating system XP in the following article, you can refer to it.

  • Cannot connect Windows XP to the wireless printer.

WINDOWS XP PRINTER WI - FI CONNECTION

I have Windows XP Media Center Service Pack 3 OS that worked a HP Photosmart Plus B209 a - m with a USB cable.  Since I just bought a new laptop (Windows 7 Professonal OS) I decided to create a home network with a router Cradlepoint MBR 900.  The two laptops (XP and 7 OSs) were connected to the internet via the router with no problems.  Windows 7 Pro OS laptop is connected wireless to the printer Photosmart Plus, I had implemented as confiquiration wireless the printer first.  But the failure of the attempt to get the OS Windows XP Media Center to connect to the wireless printer.  During the installation process to connect the printer to the XP system wireless it asked me to choose which printer I wanted to connect to.  The Photosmart Plus printer was selected and visible, then I clicked Next.  Shortly after, a small screen appeared stating the "serscan.sys" file could not be found and I have to insert a Windows XP Pro CD to get the file or run the installer of this file.  This issue has occurred both when I tried to install it with the CD provided by HP and when I tried installing the HP download website.  All I have is a recovery for Windows XP disk provided with the laptop and not a CD Windows XP Pro.  What should I do to fix this?  Thanks, Lonnie

Thanks, that was fast.  Please, let me make sure I have this correct.  First of all, I have two recovery disks provided with the computer, with Windows XP Media Edition and one for the drivers.  I should not use either of these disks, right?  If I had the previous correct answer then let me ask the following question;  When looking to borrow the disc should be Windows XP Media Edition or can I borrow any disk of Windows XP?  Kim Merci for your help continues.  Lonnie

    Lonnie,

Before the hunting around for friends who might have a CD, do the following research.  For each of them, make sure that you have checked the search options in the 'Advanced Options' to

    • Search system folders
    • Search for files and hidden folders
    • Search subfolders

Search your entire hard drive and both CDs you have to serscan.  Do not include the .sys at the end of the file name.

Search for Driver.cab.  Report of the Office (s).  On your hard disk, you should find one or both

    • C:\Windows\i386\Driver.cab
    • C:\Windows\Driver Cache\i386\driver.cab

You can also find these files on the "recovery disk".

Report what you find, including locations of found nothing.  It is possible (but I don't think likely) you will find a file named serscan.sy_ - If Yes, include this information in your results.

Or, if you want to ignore all this, you can download serscan.sys since my SkyDrive-->

    https://SkyDrive.live.com/redir.aspx?CID=18b259158254905b&RESID=18B259158254905B! 225 & Thierry = 18B259158254905B! 214

The file should go to C:\Windows\system32\dllcache (a hidden directory) and probably in C:\Windows\system32 (I do not use this file, if it is not in my system32 folder).

Or you can just save it to your desktop and "direct the Setup" it there (if you do this, check more later to confirm that he got into C:\Windows\system32\dllcache and if not, put a copy).
