Servers blades Cisco and BS chassis house?

Or they re-brand? They are manufactured by HP, IBM, Cisco, etc. ? Basic question, but I wonder if they have renamed them as they do the serial MCS Unified Communications servers.

Thank you!

Cisco series B blade servers and the C-Series rack servers are designed by Cisco. There is no product so 3rd party without re-branding. In fact, there are a number of patents and standards that have been put forward with the implementation of Cisco servers.

  • Servers blades - whats will benefit which bring in VI

    Hi all:

I kept on hearing the advantage of the blades, I take a lot of you use it for your deployment of VI, you can point to me the advantage and disadvantage maybe Server blades and think that its profitable for your environment?

    Thank you

    J

I've been running ESX on 4 Blade X 6250 of Sun (in a pair of Sun6000 chasis) for almost a year now.

    (1) Admin complexity - well now, I have 2 Sun 6000 s to manage which I didn't have before.

    (2) strength - the material Sun is infinitely more stable that the IBM 4-ways that it replaces (0 HW problems v.s.), have not started even get me on Dell.

    (3) cost - 4 blades, blades 2 < < 4 stand-alone servers (add blades SPARC and the savings made the decisonn obvious).

    (4) cable/switches - Sun 6000 s have dedicated ports and PCI ports for each blade, so I have the same number of cables execpt on management interfaces where a UI for the 6000 also makes use of the management for blades console interface.

    Traps:

    (A) the Sun X6250s have no serial port don't even think to check this out when I Wen to the port on my surveillance system (Orion), it was a big DUH-OH, Orion is still sitting on an old IBM.

    (B) with only 2 ports per blade the VIC interface ethernet sharing ports to shared resources that serve virtual machines, no real problem EXCEPT that in the construction of the ESX Server, I have to use a port not shared resources, and then add a port to shared resources for the guests, then move the VIC interface to the port trunking, don't delete shared resources , trunk that and the team that he.

    (C) power - where I can out a Server Intel or SPARC, re - arrange track and pop a newer version, one in the center of the blade takes 6 power supplies 220V, must have the power again to these 2 grids.

  • Logo cracked apple and damage to housing, it will prevent the Mac work

the logo of apple on my Mac mini was brutally assaulted by my three year old. Leaving the logo on the top of the box completely cracked. The Mac has been absent at the time. My question is, will it still work? I have not tried to start it upward, wasn't sure if I should. I am careful enough that I work from home and obviously the Mac contains all my work files (although I have backup, time capsule) I still would rather not have to invest in a new Mac and if the hard drive can be saved, it would be ideal.

im hoping that the Apple is simply casing and the material below is protected.

the mac itself is not based on the structural integrity of the envelope itself, even though the case has been removed the CCP wired to the hd and PSU should still work correctly

But if the impact caused the case to yield, also due internal bed or bleeding of the pcb or copper tracks broken bit it wouldn't work

and if the housing on the inside of the elbows to something low and short circuit, if it was me I give it a try, would be expensive to fix and it turn out to be a problem cosmetic only, as the repair people still requires a payment for their hours

  • Vs (standalone chassis and controller) chassis

main difference b/w the chassis and independent chassis and controller , for example

    Real-time or cDAQ-9138

    and

    NEITHER cDAQ-9178

    What is the best?

The 9138 is a standalone chassis, running Windows or OTR.

The 9178 is just a chassis holding your Modules of e. You must have a computer connected to make measurements.

And questions what is the best, can only be answered if we know your needs.

In any case, I would recommend to contact your local office of NOR and speak with a technical sales representative.

  • Cisco and Checkpoint VPN clients on a single PC

    Hello

    I'm in the following fix:

I had used customer Checkpoint SecuRemote 4.1 SP - 5 VPN in the past.

Now, I have installed the Cisco VPN client version 4.0.4 on my PC to access IPSec VPN for the PIX in our headquarters.

According to Cisco VPN release notes http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/vpn/client/rel404/404clnt.htm#wp1346340 , it should be possible to have clients both Cisco and Checkpoint VPN installed on the same machine.

But I am not able to connect to my PIX, I receive the following error message:

"Secure the complete VPN connection locally by the Client.

Reason 403: failed to contact the security gateway. »

When I'm looking for signs of PC control-> system-> hardware-> device Administration-> network cards, I can see Cisco Systems VPN Adapter disabled.

After you activate manually, I always get the same error when you try to connect to the Cisco VPN client.

After PC restart the Cisco VPN adapter is disabled later.

I tried to uncheck Check Point SecuRemote form my Dial-up connection (bypassing CSCea31192 of bug, but the bug does not affect NAT - T connection which I use).

I noticed the same situation on three different computers, one running Windows XP, both running Windows 2000.

After uninstalling the client Checkpoint completely (including Windows registry manual removal), the Cisco VPN client works very well.

It seems to me, therefore, that there is a profound mismatch between Cisco and Checkpoint VPN clients.

Does anyone know of a workaround?

    Thank you

    Milan

We had the same problem with some of our users who need to use the two clients to connect to customer sites.

If I remember the cisco client does not start automatically, but the client of checkpoint 4.1 don't.

We by-passed by deleting the registry entry point control that starts the client at startup. fwenc.exe is the entrance and it is in

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

After that make a shortcut to the executable file that is stored in the directory \bin to relevant checkpoint on the client (it is different from NT & 9 client x) and then only start when it is necessary.

    Hope that's a help

  • Servers blades and HA

What are the considerations to be taken into account when a HA cluster will be built with the blades?  For example, if the networking of the chassis goes out, all HA heartbeat node of this chassis down at the same time, etc..

When using blades, I try to my environment for all hosts on a removable chassis without violating me HA constraints of design.

And usually, I would have a cluster of ESX to 6 knots with n + 2 availability and only 2 of these blades per chassis (although if I spec' material five, I have very rarely (if ever) spec blades - I prefer the old method of mounting rack for ESX)

In any case, the problem with the above version is that it works only in large environments with large bouquets of ESX and high demands. I treated most of the customers are finaince / banking, with 100 + ESX host - if this isn't a problem, but sometimes you will have a small company with demands less trying all run from the 1 chassis...

  • ESXi 4.1 - blades HP and NFS mounts

    Hello

I'm having a strange problem with NFS access

We currently use HP Blades BL680c G5 servers, in C7000 enclosures. Configuration of the switch, Cisco (3120 x) are the same for all ports / ESXs.

I use VMNIC0 and VMNIC1 in etherchannel / Hash IP access to the warehouses of data NFS on NetApp filers.

I have now two servers beside I want to reverse for test reasons. These two servers are moving instead of the other.

Once restarted, these two hosts ar sees no no more data warehouses. They appear as inactive. I can't reconnect them (VI client or esxcfg-nas - r)

vmkping for Netapp file servers works more also.

As soon as I put these 2 servers to their original square, everything is back to normal.

On the side of the cisco switch ports are still configured the same. None of them are closed.

There I'm missing something, but don't know where to look.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Hernandez,

If you're repatching hosts or they always use the same network cables as before (perhaps a change of IP address, or a rule on the host of the NFS export)

don't forget, you'll have policies created on the NFS mounts 'export' these fixtures for the names of specific hosts or IPs - if you're repatching and change IP etc you can cause this export invalidation,

  • Migration to ISE for servers 3395 Cisco Cisco SNS 3495 question

Hi all. I have a client that runs on a Cisco 3395 ISE 1.2 Server and wants to migrate to Cisco SNS 3495 servers due to the end of life is imminent. My question is - this client should buy Cisco SNS 3495 server with a new software license, or may transfer or reuse the license of the software from their 3395 servers?

What will be the best course of action for them. Thank you!!

Ah, sorry, I was referring to the base, and, the apex (or Basic, advanced from previous levels of ISE) - which are licenses only you really need to worry.  If you look at the details to the CCW, you're talking about this topic is the only one where the cost is indicated for the 3495 (except SmartNet if you added).  This is not a point of STOCK you can add/remove.  Basically, you have what you need from a material point of view when you purchase the device.  Can you rehost license software (Basic, plus, apex) once you get the new devices up and running.

  • Automatic deployment - unable to start correctly the ESXi 5.1 correctly on servers blade HP

We have recently improved our vCenter to 5.1.0b and of course I wanted to update our shooting (stateless) ESXi blades immediately. It seems that it is a little more difficult, so I expected to be. The image very well construction work, HP tools are included without problems just like the pilot be2net. Except the blades I use to test my living image on the pitch at the start of the script/agents of hp - ams.sh.

    bl460cg7-hpams-stall-esxi51.JPG

Then after a while, he continues, he goes to the main screen, but I am unable to use keys. I can't look at the log, it does not seem to get out of the "Screensaver" (black screen).

    bl460cg7-main-screen-hang-esxi51.JPG

The method that I used to generate these Images to run our stateless bladeservers has not changed at all, except that I use the image of ESXi 5.1 to build now. I have already updated all the firmware of the G7 BL460c blade, which shouldn't be a problem.

I am also unable to view the logs during the accident, so I have no idea how to find out what could be the problem. I created a script to build ESXi images that I use to deploy automatically.

    # Add repository of VMware online so that we the last Image profiles and firmware

    # Export the profile from the image of a bundle
    Export-EsxImageProfile - ImageProfile $PROFILEAME - ExportToBundle - FilePath D:\Images\$PROFILEAME.zip

And finally I apply the profile of the Image to an existing entry or deploy rule, but nothing helped.

Does anyone have ideas how to debug this problem or should I just open a new case to VMware Support?

    Hello world

The problem in my case is finally resolved. The issue was caused by not having does not host profile attached to the vCenter level, and I used the IPv4 configuration to deploy on servers of clusters/right. When I did this, the problem has been resolved.

I had a Support case open while a loooooooong with VMware and happened to find me the solution by running in a line in the documentation Auto deploy GUI (fling) where it says Host Profiles must be attached to the level of the vCenter. Before 5.1 I've always attached to the cluster where they have been applied, and it has never been a problem. However, since 5.1 has obviously changed this behavior, it is now mandatory.

So just to let you know, my problem with this has been resolved.

Best regards and I really hope that this solution solves this problem for you also!

  • Oracle 11g RAC and Clusterware several houses of the databases

We plan to install grid 11 GR 2 Clusterware on several series P IBM AIX 5.3 servers and combine them together.

Advising several of the DBA in my shop to install the clusterware and ASM under an AIX user id (for example, crsuser) and then implement various database houses (we plan 2 databases for this cluster) under different pseudos of AIX software (for example, users oradb1 and oradb2). So the clusterware will run on AIX user id crsuser, and the first database would be executed using AIX user id oradb1, the second database would use AIX user id oradb2. Will this work?

I administered the RAC clusters in the past for 10 gr 2, but the clusterware and databases were all settled under the same AIX user id (for example, AIX 'oracle' user id).

Any advice will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

    Hello

From 11 GR 2, Oracle recommends having the separation of roles for ASM / software grid infrastructure and database. Please have a read http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/install.112/e17210/preaix.htm#CWAIX176 for more details

  • AirPort Extreme, gigabit Ethernet switch and covering my house

I have an AirPort Extreme 802.11n to Time Capsule wireless router. I have an old House. It was built in 1852 and microwave ovens have a hard time penetrating through some walls.

Recently, I made some changes in the House and I wired things for Gigabit Ethernet. I have not yet bought a switch. We have a Mac Pro (cheese grater), a Mac Mini, three iPhones (only 6) and two iPads (one version 3 and the other, only the latter bought autumn, an iPad Air.)

First of all, since most of us are on 802.11 n, can I initially put in place a heterogeneous system with two routers wireless connected to themselves and to the Internet via a switch? Also, I need two switches; one for the internal LAN and the other for a connection to the Internet? I intend to buy the new ac 802.11 AirPort extreme for a facility in one of the rooms to better cover the rest of the House. I think that both devices will be able to take advantage of the signal of 5 GHz, initially, with another iPad and iPhone to come along the next year. I wouldn't or the other base station being "enslaved" to the other but, rather, connected to the wired network internal and devices just switch between them that move around the House.

Comments are welcome here. This can be a trip to a Genius Bar if I do not hear from final here.

can I initially put in place a heterogeneous system with two routers wireless connected to themselves and to the Internet via a switch?

Possibly, depending on the type of modem you have. See below info in this post.

Also, I need two switches; one for the internal LAN and the other for a connection to the Internet?

    NO.

I wouldn't or the other base station being "enslaved" to the other but, rather, connected to the wired network internal and devices just switch between them that move around the House.

Not sure what you mean here. The two extremes of the airport will be connected to the cable network, so they will be in communication with them at all times. If you want to peripheral switch between them that move around the House... then you will need what is called a "mobile network"... so the two airports will produce a wireless signal that uses the same wireless network name. Apple Setup Assistant will put things this way by default.

Depending on the type of "modem" you have, the network might look like this:

Internet > Modem > AirPort Extreme 802.11ac > Ethernet switch > AirPort Extreme

or, if your "modem" is really a modem/router, also known as, a walkway... then you have the ability to set things up like this:

Internet > Modem/Router > Switch > the two airports to connect to the Ethernet network

Looking for a Gigabit Ethernet switch to your network. Switches come in 5 ports, 16 channels, 8 ports, etc. versions.  It's always a good idea to buy an Ethernet switch over a few ports that you think that you may need right now... to allow for expansion.

The key here is that the type of modem you have will determine how to configure the network.  If you could provide the number of brand and model of your "modem", we can eliminate some of the assumptions to be used at this time.

  • Channels by 9174 and 9178 chassis

I'm trying to figure out the most cost-effective means for the conduct of the digital output channels as much as possible by using one of the cDAQ chassis.

The former chassis cDAQ (NOR cDAQ-9172) contained a specification of 64 digital i/o channels per chassis.  I can't find a similar specification to the cDAQ NI 9174 and cDAQ-9178 OR.  Are limited to 64 outputs both digital as well, or is limited to half 9174?  I can drive 64 lines of digital output with two modules (NI 9476), so the numberslots in the chassis is nowhere nearly as important to me as the number of channels.

    Thank you

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

I think I found the source that lists DIO 64 as a max on the cDAQ-9172: the technical details related to off the Web page.  This is incorrect.  All the CompactDAQ chassis can support the maximum number of possible digital channels based on their number of slots; 32 channel modules is 256 channels for the 9172 and 9178 and 128 channels for the 9174.  You can use 2 modules NI 9476 to control 64 lines to any CompactDAQ chassis.

Please keep in mind that you cannot use timed by the hardware or the characteristics of counter/timer thanks to a module NI 9476.  For more information about support for the digital functions on each frame, please consult the document "User Guide and specifications" for each frame, which is larger than the data sheet.

I apologize for the mistake of documentation that you have found, and I spent this long to fix.

    Kind regards
    Kyle

  • Resilience 4510R Cisco and DELL S4048-suite

As a central switch using Cisco 4510R. To increase fault tolerance has been purchased DELL S4048 IT. It is not clear how to combine (how to create a battery). Throughout the manual describes how to create a stack with one manufacturer.

Just try to connect through riders DELL 2 CM 32 and Cisco SFP-H10GB-CU5M.

It was possible to connect only through the SFP-H10GB-CU5M Cisco when CISCO on the interface speed nonegotiate and Dell speed 1000. She don't go to the link 10 000.

The error it gives is that the transceiver is not a valid reference of Dell. For fault tolerance, you could just create a trunk between two switches.
