I run an ESX 3.5 server and it has 800 MB of memory allocated to the service console. We use IPMonitor to monitor our servers and uses 750MO regularly for a while now. Is it necessary to upgrade the service console memory? Then the cause of performance problems?

    Thank you

    Scott

The important line is the + / cache line, which shows that you have 480 MB of free space.  You're golden and good to go.

Basically linux (which is the service console) will use 'extra' memory for caching, leading many monitoring programs to believe you have only 26 MB of free space in this case.  Recommend that you find a monitoring program that is more intelligent.

  • Memory almost full service console

    Hello

I recently increased to 800 MB service console memory. The hosts have been working well before and were not maxing out the initial amount of memory. But now its use about 770MB on all servers. When i run 'top' it lists 320 treaty most of them are webaccess. Is this normal?

    Thank you

You can use "swapon-s" or "cat/proc/swaps" to see your swap information.

Your output, you use for your extended partition, which you use to block 17769 blocks "1357 17769 131837422'.  This means that you have 0 space on your disk for additional file systems. You will live with a swap that is not 2 x your memory.  Not a good thing, but it won't really hurt you that much.

  • Service console uses what memory?

When I connect to the service console, I see that 700 of the 800 MB of memory is used when I run the "free-m. If I do a top or a ps - to, it's not really all that consumes a lot of memory (other than the workers spend - 12%). Is there a way to determine which uses as much memory? 700 MB seems higher it works normally.

    Thank you

    Scott

It is a common conception of GIS-ism/Linux.

The system uses 661 MB of memory.  However, only 170 MB is used for applications.  Linux is actively using any otherwise unused memory for caching of file system, which is what you see here under "buffer" and "cache."  To the point that an application requests more memory, Linux will reduce the size of buffer and cache and give him more.  Here is a similar explanation: http://www.linuxatemyram.com/

So if you want to monitor the memory usage, you must monitor (USED - BUFFER - CACHE), which is what gives you this second line.  So realistic, your system uses 170 MB for real applications and the RST for implementing caching file system.

  • Can I create a second service console in ESX 2.5.5?

Can I create a second service console in ESX 2.5.5?

    Yes, I did in ESX 3. +, but I can not find/check it's ok in ESX 2.5.

    Procedures, orders or comments appreciated.

    ALL POINTS WILL BE AWARDED.

No, you can not - the service in ESX 2.x actuallys console loads before the vmkernel and has control over its own NETWORK card and the physical memory - in esx 3.x (vSphere) the VMkernel charge first and provides these resources to the service console allowing you to create several service console ports -

I try to install ESX4.0 in our test environment, I have checked so that all the

the parameters of air but can not 'ping' of the Service Console to other servers or can I 'ping' even the gateway to the ESX host.  I've tried deleting and recreating the vswitch and vswif, but can not get the ESX to access the network or access the ESX from the network through virtual Center.

I have already activated the SSH and try and putty, but can't.

Any suggestions on what might be the cause, I already checked the 'hosts' and /etc/resolv.conf files but can not identify why I can't connect to the ESX host.

    Any help appreciated.

I tried to add an ESX4 (trial mode) for the VC2, 5 and cannot me.

    It is not possible.

You need VC4 to manage ESX4.

  • Is it ok/possible to add a GUI to my ESX server service console?

Can I download one of the lightest LINUX GUI and run it from the service console?  Also, how to connect using putty?  Should be on licence somewhere?

You can add a graphical interface on the ESX console... Can be... but be careful that the console has only a limited amount of Max (above 800 MB) memory and it has been optimized to manage your virtual machines. He is also set to always run on CPU0.

If you interfaces graphics crashes... it could take down the management of all your virtual machines.

So the question is "If you do that?", then the answer is no. you'd better not.

It also cancels your support/warranty. Your ESX Server will be is no longer supported.

If it's for an experience... go ahead... If you want to run production on this same host... don't even think about it.

  • Change the IP address of the Service Console

Hi, when I try to change the IP address and the address of the gateway to the Service Console NIC on the console, I always get this message:

    !!! WARNING!

Loss of connectivity network may occur if the parameters not valid in

Add, remove, Portgroup or IP operations.

and nothing is changed. How is it possible to change the IP address of vswif?

I try with the command "esxcfg-vswif!

    Thank you

    Hello

There are two ways of CLI to chang the IP address of the service console.

Either remove the current vswif0 and recreate it using esxcfg-swif.

But as you must change the ip address of the service console, you can try e under method, change the entries in the file.

for the ip address and the mask of the service console, you can change the entries in the file below.

    / etc/sysconfig/network-scipts/ifcfg-vswif0

and for the gateway, host name using the file below

    sysconfig

    for the dns entries

    /etc/resolv.conf

After all the changes, try to network service.

    service network restart

Let me know if you need more information.

services.exe memory consumption and therefore 15 minutes for bootProblem Description: it seems that since the installation of updated KB973687 my Dell Inspiron 640 m takes an age to start. I am running XP SP3 with all updates installed, have 2 x 512 MB memory installed and the basics of microsoft security is enabled and no virus detected. Run the task on the Startup Manager, I see that services.exe 2 user running objects. Once the VM reached approximately 2 200 000 k it starts to release very slowly and finally reduced to a size of about 6 000 - 7, 000 k, then just a race of user object. It is not until that time where the system becomes usable. What is happening at each startup and lasts about 15 minutes for the system be usable. • Trade rules do not appear in the Regional service console

    Guru HI

We use the Application confort Hyperion Planning 11.1.2.2.

We have created business rules for our planning application using Calc Manager and they work very well.

But my doubt is that calculations do appear in the essbase.

WT could be the reason for this... Please suggest.

    Thank you.

    Hello

The Regional service console will show you only the calculation scripts, not the rules for calculation of the Manager. This is a technical limitation.

Prior to version 11.1.2.3, we also had business rules. These were available in the Regional service console. Then, you had a section in the view of the company next to Administration, servers Essbase called Business Rules. I usually call them Hyperion Business rules (HBR) because users easily get confused with all the scripts and rules.

In planning, you can see the calculation scripts and rules for calculation of the Manager.

I hope that clarifies the situation and will help you.

    Kind regards

    I see only 4 services in services.msc

Looks like you have deployed web applications to a single managed server that is running on a port by default of 9000, then try to add the server to the Regional service as servername:9000
