Service pack 3 installation
I have a Dell Inspiron 9100 (about 3-4 years) and on many occasions, I tried to download the Service Pack £. every time I have been invited to load the CD, but the program has been pre-installed I never received a CD although I don't have the product key that is located on the lower part of the machine.
Question - can I download the update somehow using the product code I enjoy not really ask for a copy of the CD from Dell, could take forever.
Service Pack 3 is not the OS Vista, XP operating system.

Windows Vista Service Pack 2 installation problem
I am having major problems installing service pack 2 on windows Vista on a Dell Inspiron from 32-bit. It returns the 8007000D error code.
I tried the PC back to factory settings, removing the anti-virus and the deactivation of some things non-nessasary start up with msconfig. Also, I have disabled all the wireless devices using a switch on the side of the laptop - it seems that would enable me to install service pack 1.
Even with all the foregoing it always fails and recommends the system "Update system tool" update running. I have run, restart the computer and run the SP2 and it does not always work with the same error message.
The only other methods recommended to install must remove antiviris and other programs that I've done so I don't know what to do!
Help, please!
Thank you
Matthew
Robear,
Thanks for your reply.
I looked at the link (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366) and went through all the troubleshooting guide without success. With my current attempts to install SP2 (after the return to factory settings), I remove McAfee from the computer (that came with it as default) and then install the service pack SP1 and SP2 by using the stand-alone installation programs by downloading from another computer.
Thank you for give me the Microsoft technical support link, that I had read on another thread that the free support is exhausted.
I will try to sue microsoft and come back here if I have any luck!
Thank you

Service Pack 2 installation problem
It's very strange.
1. the laptop is a Sony where install a Vista - 32-bit clean has been made some time ago, in Portuguese, because he's my friend of the Brazil.
2. the properties of the computer says that it has installed ServicePack 1.
3. the update of windows to install service pack 2
4. I run the SP2 Setup and it is said that it has been installed.
5. I reboot the computer, check the properties of the computer and it says it has SP1 (not SP2). and the windows icon appears and says that SP2 is ready to be installed. So, I ran the installation again and I get the same results. I did cela 10 times and still the same result.
6. I download SP2 (all languages - 32-bit version) to my computer so I can try to install it in this way. When I do that, it gives me a message that SP1 must be installed before installing SP2. (can you believe it?) So, just for grins, I download SP1, run the install. The message that I get when I do this, it is that SP1 is already on my computer. (ouch) Now, apparently, there was disagreement with SP1 and SP2 are reports even if the properties of my computer that I already have SP1 installed. Now I am frustrated and laughing.
7. so, I ran the CMD Scannow program that someone suggested here and he said that he corrected certain errors. I ran also register and frag clean disk. I restarted my computer and see what happens. Does anyone have suggestions more?
Thank you
Mike
Try first with Safe Mode, see the link: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Start-your-computer-in-safe-mode this applies to Vista or you can see the Vista Help for this topic. You can try this, if safe mode does not work, clean boot, it event all other programs and services.

XP Service pack 2 Installation problems
I recently had to reformat my computer and reinstall XP Pro on it. I have already validated my windows. Whenever I try to get service pack 2, however, it gets to the point on the installer where it says 'check product key' (which is almost right at the beginning) and everything goes ever further. No matter how long wait he just stay here on this message. Help, please!
SP2 installation hangs at step "product key Verification".
Posted by another user having received a response from the MS Support: -.
There are 3 steps that we have to do to get SP2 installed.
The steps are:
(1) please go to the CMD prompt (start / run--> cmd.exe)
(2) then type cd /d %windir%\inf and make sure that we are in this directory.
(3) then type ren oem*.inf oem*.old, he goes back to the command prompt after
giving you an error (don't you worry about this)(4) then type ren oem*.pnf oem*.old1, he goes back to the command prompt after
giving you an error (don't you worry about this)(5) then goto start - run - type '% windir%\inf' and you will see the files in
the folder.(6) then find by name INFCACHE.1 file and make a backup of it on the desktop
(by copying it to the desktop) and delete the INFCACHE.1 in c:\windows\inf.(7) close all windows and restart the computer in safe mode and start the
installation of SP2 and it should be fine.I would check to make sure that you don't know what your product key is before
attempt of what either especially if it is an OEM version.TaurArian [MVP] 2005-2010 - Update Services

Internet Explorer does not work after Vista Service Pack 2 installation with IE 8
I accepted the installation of Vista Service Pack 2 yesterday with IE 8 upgrade. Now, I can't get IE 8 or Firefox to connect to the Internet. I checked my config proxy and it is set to auto detect. I had Vista analyze my connection with my wireless router and it is no problem. Please notify.
Uninstall IE8 and see if that helps:
Click Start > right click on computer > properties > Windows updates down the lower left corner > updates installed in the lower left corner in the next window
> then click the one that you don't want > uninstall will appear at the top > uninstall it.
In addition, on the page where you clicked "Installed updates", click on change settings at the top left corner it
> Change update settings in the next page of AutoUpdate to "check for updates but let me choose etc" > OK ".
When you take a look at pending updates, you can either download/install them one at the time, namely the bad.
> or if you do not need an individual > right-click on > UAC prompt > hide it
See you soon.

Vista Service Pack 1 installs - perpetual loop
Hello! I was wondering if anyone would be good enough to help me. I'll have the perpetual loop of Service Pack 1 by saying it is installed but is not as he continues to repeat in Windows Update. I made a new reformat and reinstall yesterday to solve the problem, but is happening all over again. I ran the tool Vista only strengthened. I just ran a FixIt and he could not solve the problem of Windows Update. I'm worried about the stability of my laptop. I'm not wonder with computers. It's a Toshiba Satellite A210 Vista 32 bit Home Premium btw. I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to see if I could just get the hell outta Vistaland altogether and go to 7, but I need that SP1 installed even for that! Having a nightmare. Help, please. Thank you, Simon :)

Hello
I had to restart my laptop (Windows Vista) to factory setting because the system has begun to slow down; I now can't install SP1, it appears on the new & new window updates and downloads in a few minutes. Although it does not install correctly.
I still can not download Norton because it requires service pack 1.

We need a few details to help you install Service pack 1, please answer the following.
- What antivirus application do you use on your computer?
- Was no problem with the installation of other updates to Windows?
- You have the Windows Vista installation disc?
You can refer to the following methods, these could help you install Service pack 1 on your computer.
Method 1:
If you receive the error Windows Update 80070002 of updates, you must remove the temporary files to update that Windows uses to identify updates for your computer. see the methods in the following link.
Windows Update Error 80070002.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/Windows-Update-Error-80070002
Method 2:
Disable the antivirus software, install the service pack and check the issue stattus.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
You can also refer to:
You receive an error '0 x 80070002' or '0 x 80070003' code after you download an update from Windows Update, Microsoft Update or Windows Server Update Services

Service Pack 1 installation failure
I only just discovered that since I got my computer, Vista has been tried and do not install Service Pack 1. The only suggestion offered by the error code is to run the system update readiness tool. This I did, successfully, but this does not solve the problem. Any ideas?
Thank you, Matthew. I already solved the problem in my own way. I simply copied the two files in question to another installation of Vista and replaced the ones problemmatic. All I had to do was play the owner of these two files 'System' thereafter, so that they correspond to those that I replaced.
Once copied, the SP1 and SP2 installed correctly. Then Windows Update recovered four year of updates (81 in total) value.
