  • LaserJet M1212nf: Problems setting up wireless printing

I can set up to print from my laptop with a USB connection to the printer. I want to be able to print when away from my office, so have tried for 2 years, on and off, to get my printer to print wireless. I spent probably 10 + hours trying to get this set up. In the end, I always end up having to reinstall the printer with the same old USB connection.

It drives me crazy. I'm a tech writer for a society of software and very savvy in computer science. However, my non-techie family have all managed to set up wireless printing at their home in 5 minutes or less with different brands of printers.

Here are the steps that I followed, although I also tried many variations, like trying with my USB cable connected or disconnected.

    (1) uninstall the current installation of the printer (USB).

    (2) on the printer itself, make sure that the settings > network settings are the default values.

    (3) using the latest drivers and installation .exe from the HP site, start a new installation of the printer.

    (4) when you are prompted, select "wireless."

RESULT: even if my firewall is turned OFF, search and indicates that he is there any printer on the network. (Huh? Which network?)

    (5) try again once and this time select "Network Setup."

RESULT: even if my firewall is turned OFF, search and says that it cannot detect a network.

If the wireless installation requires a network, but network installation does not cause a network to install, I don't know where to go from here.

    (6) I also tried downloading and installing the ePrint utility, but when I'm at halfway through the installation, it tells me that it cannot find my printer.

I am suspicious that my model M1212nf MFP may even not allow for wireless printing. Some info on the HP site says to check a particular button lights up to indicate that the printer is online. This light does not exist on my printer model. However, the parameters of the printer from my physics has parameters such as: "show IP address," etc., which would lead me to believe that it can work wireless.

I have read all the help related HP printer, and there is nothing which explains, in simple language, what are the types of cables, I need to set up a network and the Wi - Fi connection, when to plug them in, what facilities to perform on the many Add - ons available, etc.. I don't know that it's a 5 minute process if there was just a good explanation in the help of the UP of how do. Assistance would be appreciated!

    Hello @SKYdiz,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have had problems for the last 2 years and spent many hours trying to configure your HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf MFP for wireless printing. At this point I'll provide more information about it. First of all, are sitting you?

Unfortunately, the HP LaserJet Pro M1212nf multifunction printer isn't a model wireless printer. The "nf" at the end of the name of the printer is the abbreviation of 'network, fax. Therefore, if your printer is not able to connect to your router wireless, it CAN connect with an ethernet cable.

All you need to do is connect an ethernet cable to the back of your printer to your router. That all devices connected to this router even (whether through wireless or wired ethernet connections) would be able to 'see' your printer on the network and print it on your printer. For more information on configuring ethernet on your printer, please visit: Setup the printer to a wired network in Windows 7 for HP's LaserJet printers.

Now, if an ethernet connection does not work in your specific network, HP makes other Laserjet models that do not use the wireless function. Here are two LaserJet who are black only, multifunction wireless units that resemble your current printer model: HP LaserJet MFP HP LaserJet MFP M225dw Pro and M127fw Pro.

Please let me know if this clears up any confusion. If you have other questions or concerns, I'll be more than happy to help you. Happy new year!

    Hello

If the instructions that you need a cable then you need a cable. On several printers now, you don't need USB cable for Setup (that's why many boxes do not have) and you can run the installation on your computer or a button on the printer.

    Kind regards.

  • Cannot set up wireless Motocast

I just got my Droid Razr yesterday. I could connect to my PC (windows XP) via USB and transfer songs. But I can not configure Motocast wireless, however. Everytime I try, it checks for a wireless connection, and then goes to a screen Motocast wireless set. He's sitting there for a few seconds, then outputs only programs.

I read through the forum and based on some other recommendations that I saw there, I've uninstalled Java and went on java.com and downloaded the latest version. I have turned off my Windows Firewall and stopped protection in real time on my Microsoft Security Essentials. I also uninstalled the program Motocast, which was first loaded from my phone and uploaded Motocast to mymotocast.com.

I am at a loss. What else can I try?

Well, I decided before I'm that drastic, I need to check the updates of Microsoft, it's been a while, there were 73 to install! Yikes! but after installing the updates, I was able to get through the Setup process and can now access my PC via the Razr.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Trying to set up wireless for HP Deskjet 3054 A! Help, please!

I'm trying to set up the connection for my HP 3054 A wireless to my computer and the router so I can print wireless.  I had an old HP printer implemented and that Wi - Fi was very well but then I got a new modem from century link and the wireless was completely messed up.

I use a MacBook Pro using 10.9.2 CD software is obsolete and only works on 10.5 and 10.6 then please do not mention following the instructions of the software.  The software "seems" to have downloaded the update to the Apple software, BUT I do not have any folder of HP or any installation assistant that I can find to help.

My modem is an ActionTec PK5000 and has a WPS button near the bottom.  I tried to connect using the WPS button and all I get is "Error WPS" about 1/2 way through.  All I get is a blue light flashing for a wireless connection on the printer.  I'm so confused because under my wifi options, it lists "HP-Setup-87-Deskjet-3050A-J611" as a connection option?

    Ugh.

I spent way too much time on this and thought that someone here would have some suggestions.

    Thank you!

    SOLUTION *.

Please NOTE: I am running OS 10.9.2 on a Macbook Pro using an Actiontec Qwest/Qwest PK5000 modem.  It is the solution that worked for me.  If you have a different operating system or brand of modem or a computer - I can't talk about what will work for you.

    1. you will connect the printer via what is called a Web server integrated (EWS) - not through WPS, is not using a PIN or a push button, what are the options of the printer.

    2. make sure that your printer is reset by default.  To do this - press the button on the printer control panel wireless and navigate to "restore to the factory settings."

    3. then - make sure your modem is on and your ethernet cable is connected the modem to the computer.

    4. then - you'll want to navigate through your browser to this page http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?product=5115807&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=us

and select your operating system like 10.8 and press Next.  "Driver-product installation software" press the sign + and download the package on your computer.  I don't think it would work as it says 10.8 and 10.9 not but it works very well in the end.

    5. open the packaging of the HP software for the HP utility, and his assistant installation etc.

    6. run the installer of HP.

    7. before you "add a printer" make sure you that you logged into your wifi connections for a connection which identifies (or should) in your wifi networks as something like "HP-Setup-XX-Deskjet 3050 a J611" not the normal wifi connection you can use.

    8. now 'add printer '.  The computer should find the device and it should show as "Hello multifunction" rather than "USB" (which is what I kept getting).

    9. now - go to the HP utility page and you will see the different sections of information about your device.

    10. find the section "Printer - additional parameters.

    11. then you should see a box that says ' the selected printer can be configured using a built-in web server.  Discover patterns and information on the printer by pressing the button below. »

    12. press the button.

    13. This will connect you to the embedded online Web server.

    14. When you're on the embedded - Web server you will see several tabs at the top of the page.  Go to the tab that says 'network '.

15 then the coast - find the wireless configuration wizard.  Who will guide you through connecting to the wifi network you use and configure your printer.

    16. After you run the installation wizard, you should be able to unplug your ethernet cable, go back to your wifi connected and normal that you use your printer up and everything should be good.

It worked for me and I hope this saves people a lot of time dressing and that this will work for you as well.

    Good luck.

Hi, I got the HP Pavilion dm4-1064dx for my birthday and I formatted and installed Windows 7 Enterprise Edition x 64. I installed the sound, graphics and chipset drivers from the Web site. But I can't get my wifi to work again. I tried to off the drivers wireless for my laptop for downloads & drivers but nothing has worked. I tried to find HP Wireless Assistant, but I was not abe to find and I do not know if my problem that will be solved. If anyone knows what I can do to fix this please.

    -Thank you

Hello, I downloaded the HP Wireless Assistant you posted, and when I go to run it I get this message "this version of HP Wireless Assistant is not supported on this model. I also entered my Services and have started and that the startup type for Wired AutoConfig and WLAN autoconfiguration service is set to automatic. When I go in Control Panel-> Internet-> manage wireless networks and network I click on 'Add' and then a box appears and I click on manually create a network profile and then this is what happens. He sayd it in the box "Windows cannot detect wireless network interfaces and.

    ---------EDIT----------

I solved the problem. I went into the bios and seems that my wireless card is a Broadcom as the FCC ID presented themselves as QDS-BRCM1050... that Google identified as a Broadcom BCM94313HMG2L. However, HP does not have the correct drivers for this card on the site. Here is the link for the correct driver http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...s&lc=en&dlc=en. I also installed the Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) driver and now my wireless works perfectly.

  • Setting up wireless after the installation of Mountain Lion

I have recently upgraded to Mountain Lion on my Mac Book Pro and am trying to set my HP Photosmart C4780 to print wireless via a USB cable.  I don't want to use WPS.  The problem is that the drivers were supposedly downloaded with Lion mountain and all of my research on the web, I agree that if I implement wireless using a USB cable, I need to do when installing the printer software.  When you try this a few days ago, the instructions I found said first to check for software updates by using the Apple app store.  I did and I got a message saying "no updates available".  After many hours trying to solve my problem, I finally gave up.  Today, however, while I was working on my laptop, I have message came up saying that the drivers for my printer HP were available.  I pressed the button install.  I tried to set up my printer with no luck.  Can someone give me some suggestions on what do I do please?  Thanks in advance.

In fact I already had on WPA.  I solved the problem and your initial solution was certainly helpful.  The problem was that by using the "Reset default" button does not seem to reset it.  I actually had to reset by a method that that is on this link.  http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/printer-networking-and-wireless/can-t-see-the-hpsetup-network-on-my-MacBook-Pro-on-a-C4780/TD-p/193900  I appreciate your help.  He led me in the right direction.

  • Setting up wireless

I recently moved into my place and need to set up a new wireless network connection.  I have a Photosmart C4780.  I've tried the HP wireless printing Center and the advice they give do not help me.  It said to insert my software disc and I should get a welcome back screen and to reconfigure the network settings, but when I put in my CD it takes me to a screen on the printer that is already done.  I have a Mac so I don't know if it's important or not, but I'm out of ideas.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!

The software on the CD is not at all for 10.6.  You must remove this way:

Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard / click Uninstall HP
    Click on continue
Highlight your device in the left pane
Hold down the Ctrl and Opt Cmd and click on uninstall
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall all hp software. (At this point, if you continue, all HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click on continue and let it finish

    Now run a software update.

    Then, reset the printing system:

    -Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
-Right (control) click inside the box that lists your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - This will remove ALL your printers!
-Select the sign + to add again. Search for the printer, select it, and wait until the button 'Add' becomes available. Click on it...

Finally, download and run the software from here.

Scan from preview or Capture of Image apps. Scan from the front panel of the printer does not work yet.
