Setting up a test server

Hi - I'm going to set up a test server for the first time in cc DW.

First, I installed MAMP (I'm on a mac) - I tested the servers and they work. I chose the default ports 80/3306. I pointed my browser to localhost and it says it works.

Then, I spent in DW and defined the site - everything seems fine. In the "files" window, I can see the local section of the files on the right and on the test server on the left (the records are in red - is it good?). My problem comes when you try to view the live files. I get the following error message

Not found

The requested URL /ticDevNew/index.php was not found on this server.

Apache/2.2.22 (Unix) DAV/2 Server at localhost Port 80

I have placed the files here on my mac:

/Users/martinrtroberts/localhost/ticDevNew

Here are the settings of the server in DW

FOLDER on the SERVER: / Users/martinrtroberts/localhost/ticDevNew

WEB URL http://localhost/ticDevNew/

My hunch is that I have one of these incorrect paths (despite the fact the DW appears to able to see!)

Any ideas?

Martin

  • Setting up a test server. Getting the error "Could not connect to MySQL". Help!

First of all, I am a rookie at this, so please excuse me for leaving out some details.  In any case, I followed David Powers "establishing an environment of PHP for Dreamweaver development" set up my test server.  I tested the timetest.php file and everything works great.  I saved my website in its entirety and extracted its contents in my folder xampp/htdocs/php_test/CIM.  'CIM' is a file that I created to hold the content of my entire site.  I get an error message when I try to access my index.php file.  When I click on 'Live View', I get 'database error: unable to connect to the database: could not connect to MySQL'.»»  My index., is a php file in xampp/htdocs/php_test/CIM/public_html/store.  I too, started with Apache and MySql running XAMPP.  What I am doing wrong?

I have experienced several times, but can't make it work.

Thanks for all your help on this one. I think I've sorted it now. the problems were 2 times.

    (1) I kept my sites locally. I'm now saving the site folders directly in my apache2 folder.

    (2) I got the wrong player selected in the route of mysql in the php.ini file.

  • Setting up a test server with WAMP

Hi, I did not any development within months, but I'm getting back into it. I used to have my server set up correctly test, but now when I try, there is something wrong. I set my site to the C:\wamp\wwwroot\ and also set it as my test server, but I just get an error Manager. How can I solve this problem?

    Hello

Other programs will depend on the program, but is always a good recommendation anyway.

My only suggestion is to ensure the wamp and xamp are completely uninstalled and that you are not running IIS. Disable windows 'user account control', restart your computer, and then install xamp.

  • Setting up a test server for PHP using WAMP

    Hello

I was wondering if someone could help understand me how to connect dreamweaver to WAMP Server. According to this article:-http://help.adobe.com/en_US/Dreamweaver/10.0_Using/WSc78c5058ca073340dcda9110b1f693f21-79e 0a.html and the video attached to it, my Web site should be saved in a folder in the XAMPP htdocs. I would rather not switch to XAMPP, as I've tried it before, he gave my system problems, so I found the htdocs folder in my WAMP Server files and saved my site in there, and I followed the procedure described in the video that explains how to connect dreamweaver to the server, but when I go to test my files , I just receive a 404 error code saying could not connect to http://localhost/(site_name)/index.php/.) Basically, I'm quite confused and have desperately need help to put this in place I need that she is running for a project of A-Level, as I do. Any help that anyone can provide is greatly appreciated. Thank you

    Hello

The fact that you get the 404 message says that the server is running properly.

You have configured your site definition in dreamweaver?

  • Set up a test server

    Hello
A customer sent me a .net Web site as a .zip email file. I need to be able to view the pages.net/.asp locally while I did .css changes the last CBWMS. I'm on Windows 10. Do I need to install IIS (or something else), so I can get an overview of these pages locally. If so, can someone tell me exactly how and exactly what services need to be activated?

Note: I don't want to connect to a remote server. I will be emailing my .css files for them to upload to the server.

    Thank you.

This is an article I wrote for Adobe many years ago: implementation of an ASP for Dreamweaver development environment | Adobe Developer Connection.

I have not use ASP or ASP.NET for many years, so I'm not sure it is always up to date. However, to answer your question on IIS, you certainly need to install it. You will also need the .NET framework for ASP.NET pages.

  • Learning that problems of setting up testing server (ASP)

I would like to set up a test server, but despite research in the user manual, I don't understand the installation, that's what I did:

For server machine have chosen ASP Javascript because the files I want to test are java ASP.

    access: Local/periphery.

I set up a folder for the test server on the computer that I use as a 'server' (Windows XP network): \\Aleph\shareddocs\testing_server\

I do not understand what to put in the URL prefix box, I created a folder called "middle" for the site in my directory "testing_server."

but do not know what to add to http://localhost/

I would like to use this server to test to see my site on the other computers on my network WinXP. How can I access it?

By disabling my computer 'server', can we still look at my pages in my browser?

    Grateful for any help.

If pressing F12 doesn't bring to the top of your page, your definition of the test server is wrong or you have not configured IIS correctly. You can certainly use Preview in the browser to any model of supported on Windows XP Server.

  • Help with test server - Wampserver

    Hello

I've just upgraded to Dreamweaver CC in Dreamweaver 8.  On attepmting to open a php page, Dreamweaver says I need to have a test server.  This is something that has confused kind of me, so I avoided to do.  Well, now I'm trying to set up a test server.  I'm learning!

All my sites web design are kept in a file on my D drive, here:

    D:\Documents\local_sites

I understand that although Wampserver wants to put me all my Web site files in:

    C:\wamp64\www

I don't understand.  Why should I move all my files?  I want that they kept in my documents!  I don't want to move my files on the drive where are my programs.  I want that they kept on my data disc!      What should I do?

Can someone explain this to me?

You can keep them where they are and push the duplicates on your local server. New versions of DW will do this automatically backup the.

Personally, I keep all of my PHP sites in the server itself to avoid the nonsense of duplication.

  • Is it OK for the test server, and the server signs Local point to the same location?

There seems to be three places where the files of my site: local files, server assessment and remote server.  I am happy with the remote server.  What I'm confused about are the other two.

I understand that to build a site using mysql databases that I need to set up a test server.  Here is my configuration: Windows 10, CBWMS 2015.1 using XAMPP with the folder root of my site in htdocs.  I tested FormMail, hence the name of the site is formmail

So, I open one of my files from the local files (right) Panel, modify it and it save (in the local files Panel).  I then use a preview in the browser to see my changes.  It seems that I didn't need to use was ABLE to move the file to the test server, because the file/s are already here, because as shown in the screenshot, the display of local files as the testing server view are in the same place.  What is the point of the testing server Panel?

I know that I can put the Panel on the left with the remote server. This will allow me to sync with my ISP host.  If I put the left - and probably testing server Panel a sync is useless because the files are in the same place as the Local file?

Maybe my setup is incorrect.  I guess my question is, is it OK for the test server, and the server signs Local point to the same location?

Thank you gentlemen (and Lady!) I'll go forward with newfound confidence, Bravo.

  • Submitting a form on the test server

    Hi all

I run a WAMP server on my laptop and so far did not worth setting up a test server. I'm trying now.

    I have a small php/mysql site with a login.

I raise the index php and it asks me to discover the files so I press Yes. In live mode view, I fill the login form, and then press ENTER. Then I press on enter again. After about 5 steps I realize that the enter key will not work now.

On my WAMP, it works very well. Present on it checks errors, and if it is not all redirects to a page called loggedin.php

Should I wait for the button submit to redirect within the window he direct DW?

(BTW if I bring logeedin.php, discover the files it shows me the login.php file - which is what I expected since no cookie has been set yet)

    Thanks in advance

    Edward

I normally don't use Live View for test forms. However, for links and buttons to work in Live View mode, you must hold down the CTRL (Cmd on a Mac).

  • DW 8 do not recognize the test server

I'm trying to set up a test server in Dreamweaver 8 on XP. The web server is IIS running on a Windows Server. I'm mapped to disk sharing where the wwwroot.
In the "Site Definition" dialog box, under test server, I chose "asp vpscript" as the model of server, ' Local/network' for access and pointed to the network share for the "test server" folder
After clicking ok and open a new asp document, all the tabs under 'Request' tell all ' to use dynamic data on this page:...» "Every thing is checked except"the test of the site Server Configuration.
No matter what I can not do DW to acknowledged that the testing server has been implemented.

Anyone know what to do at this point?
    Thank you

OK, I thought about it. DW 8 is not happy if you use an IP address instead of a domain name for the URL prefix. I put the URL prefix for the DNS entry for our development server and everything works fine now.

  • Test server is the protected directory

How can I set username and password in the management of Sites if the test directory is protected?
It is not a problem of ftp, upload agrees but setting with a remote content is "permission". »

    Thank you

    Marciano #1 wrote:

You can not. This isn't a matter of Dreamweaver.

Ask your server administrator why they password protected record of the test server.

setting with a remote content is "permission". »

You should not use frames in any case.  They are not web friendly.  Not mobile friendly. Not supported in the HTML5 code.

  • PHP test server on local network in Dreamweaver

I have installed xampp on another computer and I can access that by putting the address in a browser. I now try to configure the test server on Dreamweaver. Is this possible to do? I look around on various forums and tutorials found for test servers on your local computer, but I'm willing to do it on the local network to another computer. The problem is that I don't know what setting to use sites to manage the area. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Use a flash drive to develop with other contributors on a LAN is a "unacceptable solution." Dreamweaver should be (and is) able to set up a local test on a local network server so that you can work on files with other contributors within your local network. See https://helpx.adobe.com/dreamweaver/using/set-local-version-site.html

The local folder can be on your local computer or on a network server.

Several developers working on the same site in a LAN is the main objective of check feature in Dreamweaver.
