settings of Outlook express email: pop3 etc.

My service provider, Virgin Media, has done something such as every time that I opened my Inbox (and try to send a mail) error messages appear. I know how to fix this by changing the pop3 settings, but am annoyed to have to do this every time! How can ensure me that my edits remain permanent?

Quack

VM has recently changed its settings, go to the VM site to check the new required parameters. I believe they also had a free utility that changes the settings for you. (they were also sent to this topic)

We recently had Comcast to att uverse & changed our settings in outlook express but now receive duplicate e-mail messages.  I have leave copy on the server checked so that we can access our messages from multiple computers, do not know if there is anything else that needs to be changed to avoid this problem.

Pretty much confirms that it is outside interference. You have McAfee on both machines? Close all programs and temporarily disable McAfee on both machines. Send a short test message now.

Norton and McAfee are two of the worst programs to use with Windows e-mail clients. They cause conflicts and must be removed in favour of a less intrusive program like NOD32, (not free), Avast or Microsoft Security Essentials, (both free). I use MSE on all my machines and it works fine.

  • How to copy Outlook Express emails to a folder in My Documents?

I move from Windows XP to Windows 7 and need to keep my emails I have in Outlook Express.  How to copy Outlook Express emails to a folder in My Documents?

Open the folder in OE and highlight all messages (Ctrl + A) and then just drag them to the folder.  You can drag the in a WLMail folder later if you wish.

If you want to do more than a record of messages...

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail. Open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

Open the Contacts list in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    For the account settings:

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new computer and WLMail desktop: tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

  • Cannot access Outlook Express email on computer so open on iPhone

original title: Outlook Express email on iPhone

I can't access Outlook Express on my computer recently, I opened my email on my iPhone.  A way to solve this very annoying problem?

You cannot access Outlook Express, or you cannot access mail on Outlook Express?

If mail: OE has this option: tools | Accounts | Mail | Properties | Advanced - Check: leave a copy of messages on the server. You also need to find the equivalent of this on your iPhone and check there as well.

On a single computer only, check to delete messages after X days to satisfy your allocated space you get from your server, but you give the possibility to download at once.

  • How can I move the outlook express emails from an XP PC to an another XP PC that has the same e-mail address without overwriting existing messages on this second PC?

How can I move the outlook express emails from an XP PC to an another XP PC that has the same e-mail address without overwriting existing messages on this second PC?

I need to group together all messages from e-mail in a PC and to retire the first PC.

This could be problematic. I guess or OE is over? This would make it easy.

One thing you could do requires some manual work, but much less removal of dupes. For example, the Inbox. In the machine, you are going to scrap, create a new folder and move all messages in your Inbox to it. After you import on the other machine, you can drag the messages you need this folder in the Inbox, and then remove the user created the folder.

And then there are tools to remove the dupes. This one for example.

  • I can't delete the emails of one of my Outlook Express email accounts.

    Outlook Express for email

Hi all. I am running Microsoft Windows XP on my computer. I use Outlook Express for e-mail. Currently, I'm unable to delete the emails of one of my Outlook Express email accounts. Everyone knows about this problem? All proposed solutions?

Spend most of your messages out of the Inbox and move the messages you want to record off deleted items, and sent items. Locate the OE message store and then close OE.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files.

With OE closed, find the Deleted Items.dbx and Sent Items.dbx files and delete them. New files will be created automatically when you open OE.

Compact all folders as described below.

To avoid this in the future:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • lost emails and settings in outlook express

My wife runs Windows XP on his desk. My question is related to a problem with) Outlook Express 6

We have Windows XP on the desktop with Outlook Express 6. A few days earlier, the format changed and reverted to an earlier version of Outlook 6 and all of his Inbox of email, deletions, et al. have disappeared. Instead he appeared a very old version of his email to the original format. What should I do to restore his preferred version?

File | Identities | Manage identities. Is there more than one list?

Select Show hidden files and folders in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

In Windows Explorer, follow this path.

    C:\Documents and Settings\Your User of utilisateur\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\ {long string of letters & numbers} \Microsoft\Outlook Express

When you get to the identities, is there more than one? If so, continue each folder Outlook Express (message store). It does not contain the dbx files created recently and the other your dbx files missing?

Finally, check the trash. All bak files there? If so, check the date of creation.

Post back with the results so far.
