Setup does nothing - SP1 of win7 Home premium 64-bit - vmware 7.1.4

Hey there!

I'm trying to install VMWare Workstation on my Windows 7 SP1 Home Premium 64 - bit system 7.1.4.

My computer is an Alienware M14x, Intel i7 2820QM, NVidia GT555M with 3 GB, 8 GB ram, 750 GB HARD drive.

Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 was shipped with it.

I had a race VMWare 7.0 or 7.1 (don't remember the exact version) and I clicked on update.

Since then, no installation of VMWare shows same anything.

When I click on "run as Administrator" and confirm it nothing happens.

I tried the 7.0 Version 7.1.1 7.1.2 and 7.1.4. Version 6.5 installs but fails to launch the GUI.

I also tried everything serving vm-ware and manual uninstall. Weather any VMWare service, nor any VMWare or Registryentry file is left to my system.

What can I do to return VMWare to run my Windows XP?

Thanks in advance!

-Julian

Welcome to the community,

If you get nothing - not even an empty window - check the processes running in the Task Manager to see if 'fixcamera.exe' or 'webcam.exe' is running. If so, kill the process and restart the installation of VMware Workstation.

You can also take a look at http://faq.sanbarrow.com/index.php?solution_id=1113 for common installation issues and how fix/workaround them.

I suggest avoid you the Windows backup program and you get a good commercial backup program. This forum meets for a windows problem reports. I know that I was very impressed when I tried it. Three I'm familiar with and like Norton Ghost (which I use for 8 years no 1 problem), Easeus Todo Backup free, you can download it from

http://www.TODO-backup.com/products/home/free-backup-software.htm and Memeo , which has 30 day free trial and you can buy it for $29.99 - you can download it from http://memeo.com . You can get Ghost for almost nothing (like me), if you look at the sales.

The March 2012 issue of PC World is very high on the program FREE of Easeus and I tested it recently in a variety of configurations; and must say that I am very impressed. As Ghost will support up to a network drive and it will create a bootable CD for when your PC does not start. See commentary to PC World to

External hard drives are the best for backup. You can get a 500 GB one for $70 and a 1.5 to one for about $90. You can also buy a flash drive of 32 GB for less than $20. It is the best insurance you can buy ever!

Just thought I'd give you the answer to this old problem.

Windows 7 (for earlier versions) work as described in the help of the screen except that the VSS mode

must be turned on.  This allows Windows to actuall save parts of the operating system

Although these parts are involved in the actual backup.

Shame on the HP technical support for not knowing this.

In addition, the original tech support suggestion was to call Microsoft.

With a new HP PC you have no direct support from Microsoft (free).

It took me a while to work with Paragon Backup (wonderful product) to realize that VSS

must be enabled in the operating system for these virtual backup features to work.

    Hello

No security program finds all so do a thorough check of the malware.

You say you "cleaned up my computer with a program I have.

We recommend that you use that you use a registry or a program of cleaning/TuneUP/utilities, because they can do more harm to your any good operating system that they claim to be able to do.

Search for malware, if necessary using the safe mode with networking.

    Windows Vista

    Using the F8 method:

    1. Restart your computer.
    2. When the computer starts, you will see your computer hardware are listed. When you see this information begins to tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with the Boot Options Advanced Windows Vista.
    3. Select the Safe Mode with networking with the arrow keys.
    4. Then press enter on your keyboard to start mode without failure of Vista.
    5. To start Windows, you'll be a typical logon screen. Connect to your computer and Vista goes into safe mode.
    6. Do whatever tasks you need and when you are done, reboot to return to normal mode.

Once in Safe Mode with network, download and run RKill.

RKill does NOT remove the malware; It stops the Malware process that gives you a chance to remove it with your security programs.

  • Help on MSICUU2.exe (Win7 Home Premium 64-bit)

I want to use Windows Installer CleanUp, when I download it (from here), I install, but nothing shows up. Please don't give me a link Ko that didn't download it please. All I want to do is remove some of the entries in which I could normally not because in CCleaner, it is said that 'impossible to remove the MSI installer' and I don't have the installer.

Help, please! I haven't really done anything, I don't know where to start. Any help is appreciated!
EDIT: I understood how to operate. Do not put in MSICUU2.exe from the start menu. Put in Windows Clean Up and who should appear there if it is downloaded correctly. For the future see, click here to download.
    NOTE:
Please read everything, it includes a lot of mistakes that could completely ruin your computer on MSICUU2.exe
I'm NOT responsible for all the actions required. The link I provided is NOT a virus, I used it myself. Msicuu2 is ENTIRELY FACULTATIVE. It is for people who need to 'Clean up' their computer. All measures are permanent. NEVER DELETE anything that PROVIDED MY MICROSOFT. Many things use the Microsoft program in the background and could not not obviously without them. MSICUU also remove things from the registry and leaves no trace of this program.
MSICUU2. EXE DOES NOT UNINSTALL the THINGS IT comes ONLY from REGISTRY STRICTLY. It is a common mistake. It deletes the registry so so, impossible to uninstall legitimately. Although it has it's own 'unin0000.exe' UNINSTALL what EVER YOU CHOOSE BEFORE USE MSICUU on IT

Many want this remove Office in the registry do not use the manual way instead. I did and it did not work so now I have to use the manual way still. Using MSICUU on Office could make things worse, considering that I'm guessing you want because previously download you 32-bit Office.
    USE AT YOUR OWN DESCRESION

Why you want to use the Windows Installer Cleanup utility?  The Windows Installer Cleanup utility was not intended to remove the "MSI installer. Rather, he removed the partially installed applications (see this).  Instead of using the Installer Cleanup utility, frequent contributors here suggest the free use Revo Uninstaller.

As far as I KNOW, Microsoft has removed the utility Install Cleanup of its servers to download no no because he had problems related to Windows 7, but because it deleted some time more he was supposed to (' while the Windows Installer Cleanup utility solved a few installation issues, it sometimes damaged other components installed on the computer. ")  For this reason - and the principles General - caution suggests that you should at least back up the registry or preferably create a complete picture of the drive before running the cleaning or msizap utility (which is mainly used in Win XP for installation 'orphan' deleted information).

If, despite the foregoing, you still want to use the Installer Cleanup Utility, I do not know to download from Softpedia, but this one is reliable--> http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer_CleanUp_Utility_d4459.html

On XP, by Ramesh site above, "when you install the Windows Installer Cleanup utility, three files are copied to the folder"C:\Program Files\Windows Installer Clean Up", namely msicuu.exe, msizap.exe, and readme.txt."  On Win 7, see C:\Program Files (x 86).

The cleanup utility should work in Windows 7.  Although the 'technical support engineers' always seem to have the best information, see answer to Umesh P here--> http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-windows_programs/does-windows-installer-cleanup-utility-work-in/164444db-1254-4181-b585-389918e7a286

    (1) right click on C:\ (or E:\ whatever one holds your stuff)

    2) go to properties

    (3) under Security, click SYSTEM

    (4) ensure that the SYSTEM has all the permissions on ALL

I tried to reinstall iTunes on my computer and when I went to uninstall, I got this message. The only thing I've changed recently is that I put all the Microsoft partners in C:\Program Files (x 86) folders in a folder, but when I received the message I moved all return. I don't think that this is irrelevant, but that's really all I've done. Can anyone help? I tried to put in some. REG files in regedit, but that did nothing.

My son, a few days earlier, on a new computer, he just bought and built himself decided that he would organize its files and folders as you did.

He did it without getting any word of wisdom from me and came to tell me that he was receiving registry errors and some of its programmes would not be executed.

After saying that it was a no-no to move all the system/application/program files installed by the files except for the files and folders, he created, he tried to put into the place where he thought it was. He did not, the damage to windows has been done.

After I saw that it did not work, I did a restore to a point before it settles anything and recovered all of its programs with the exception, that comes to an end by removing and then reinstalling. We ran a sfc/scannow on the computer and she came back with a report found no problem.

I also ran a scan on the registry and found a few errors in the program that would not fix from the restoration, which I took care with regedit. Regedit you can get in serious trouble if you're not careful and you know what you're doing.

Anyway, try what I posted and see if you can sort, if you are not comfortable, ask someone with more knowledge can help you before you reach the point of no return and having to reinstall Windows.

  • Black screen with cursor, no login screen; Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit

    Hi all

I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 running Win7 Home Premium 32 - bit with IE9. It worked perfectly fine for over a year. The last update listed in the system restore was on 23/04/2011. He installed the Windows updates.

My husband used the computer very well the next morning. When I tried to start the computer, it wouldn't so I thought that maybe the battery should be charged. I plugged it in and nothing helped. The load button wouldn't even nothing worked at all. I bought a new battery and it came yesterday. I changed the batteries and let one over new-completely. I then tried to start the computer and he did something I could not do in months... He ran the disk check.

The disk check lasted almost 2 hours. He wouldn't let me cancel it either. He said (from the pieces that I could see) that system files have been moved, a ton of them said that they have been replaced, others have been removed, and some have been updated. I knew not what do when it restarted because it did it is normal startup, showed at the Windows startup screen and then when I thought he was going to the login screen, it became black and only the cursor has been visible and moving.

I restarted again and this time the display of incorrect closing came. I tried all the options - normal mode, safe mode safe mode w/networking and safe mode w/prompt - all results were the same. Then I tried using the recovery tool to fix the problem. Startup Repair showed no problem, System Restore showed either deleted or corrupted files and I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic and it showed no problems. I even ran the Diagnostic tool in the start menu.

I think that chkdsk deleted my files of Windows, but I don't know how to get back them. I have the OS disk and tried to use the repair feature, but nothing yet. Also, I had to ask my husband did it to my laptop and he answered nothing. So I had to be more specific, and his answer to my questions were: ' I didn't download anything "and" I just closed the laptop, I never disconnected or shut it down. I guess that's the reason for the battery works not properly the next day.

If someone could help me with this, I would be very grateful.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer or a

A method to try to get to the desktop (try in two regular windows

Screen black issues are extremely difficult to repair and to any fix is
usually on a hit or miss basis. There is no information on a black background

  • Upgrade Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) to Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade (64-bit) - option student... is this doable?

Hello - I have a computer with Win7 Home Premium 64-bit installed OEM directly from the manufacturer.

My University Bookstore offers Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Upgrade 32/64 - bit (English) (Student Option) - download

at a reduced price, but the description says:

Use this table to determine if you should make a bet to level or custom (clean) installation.

    Upgrade: Upgrade to:
    Windows 7 Professional
    Upgrade to:
    Windows 7 Ultimate
Windows XP, all editions Custom installation required Custom installation required
Windows Vista Starter Custom installation required Custom installation required
Windows Vista Home Basic Custom installation required Update available
Windows Vista Edition Home Premium Custom installation required Update available
Windows Vista Business Update available Update available
Windows Vista Ultimate Edition Custom installation required Update available
Windows 7 family (* this is mine *) Custom installation required Custom installation required

Question is - why do I need a "custom installation" and not an upgrade? I am a bit confused by this description and hope someone can help me to clarify. I'd like to be able to do an upgrade so that I don't have to fuss with all the files I have and avoid the relocation of all my backup software. Thanks for any idea that anyone can provide.

If I do the custom Setup, please indicate on the measures to be taken. Thanks again.

To do as it says, the on-screen instructions are clear, and you should ALWAYS back up the data before making any major changes.

Note that an upgrade installation or custom are considered a MAJOR change... :-)
