SG300 DHCP DNS server secondary Allocation

I'm not sure that this is possible, but is the DHCP server to assign a secondary DNS server.

It seems to be an option to place a single DNS entry in.

I have DHCP configuration to allocate an internet base DNS (DNS Google on 8.8.8.8) so my workstations can access the internet, but I want to allocate a secondary dns for my workstations are aware able to connect to my internal servers through host names.

Is it possible on the SG300-20 for this

Thank you

Paul

Weird, I'm trying to remember what I did today.  Here is my order show proving that it worked:

Ah ha, history buffer shows no comma, but the space!

  • DNS Server: Issue of SOA server of El Capitan

    Hello

How ASA can be defined on El Capitan DNS server?

The server reports the name of domain (example.com) as SOA indeed, but some services (secondary server DYNDNS services) seems to expect the SOA for the primary server, as in this case ns1.advedi.com

Currently, for the main server, I have a mac mini to the latest version of El capitan server allowing the transfer of area and as secondary servers a (server) 10.6.8 snow leopard running a DNS server secondary DynDNS service.

The two secondary servers report the same problem with the SOA

    domain name: example.com

main server: ns1.example.com (main server, which allows the zone transfer)

secondary server: ns2.example.com (taking ns1.example.com information)

    servcie dynDNS (taking ns1.example.com information)

I don't see on the GUI how to put in place. I need to change the area?

    Thank you

Some DNS more 'health' check reports (several sites regarding the same):

I have a 877W which was operational on Verizon for about 5 years. It never automatically distributed info DNS server for customers who get DHCP issued IP address. I have to manually enter the DNS entries to each client.  What happened to other sites where I've got installed on AT & T as well as 877 unified communications.

    Hello

Can you try to remove the IMPORT ALL of the dhcp pool

    RES
    Paul

Sent by Cisco Support technique iPad App

  • express error airport; No DNS server address

    OSX El Capitan

    10.11.6

    MacBook Pro mid-2009

Coupled with Airport Express Airport Extreme.

Time Warner Cable improved the internet in our area and it took a new modem. At the new modem and Airport Extreme works with it, having to put the modem in Bridge mode.

However the station Airport Express a few classrooms is now always flashing orange and the error says "there is no DNS server address.

If I refresh the DHCP lease it will go green, but less than a minute he keeps flashing orange.

    What should I do?

The way this is supposed to work, it's that your main router obtains the DNS server address of an upstream (on the ISP network) server. The wireless access point or router (router in bridged mode) next level gets its the main router DNS addresses. All subsidiary wireless access points get their the next upstream router DNS server address. Your Mac gets these addresses from the router or wireless access point when it gets its IP address.

It is possible that you may need to turn off all routers, then feed their place in the order of the modem to the outside. But once that happens it is likely to have on them.

If no joy in doing that, don't use the Admin user on your main router to see what should be these addresses, write them and enter them manually when you need it.

  • Static IP address of WiFi requires the DNS server

I was able to confirm this on two separate MacBook Pro (various models) the two Yosemite running 10.11.4.

After assigning a static IP address to the wireless network interface, the MacBook ping to a address beyond the gateway by default unless there is also a DNS server on the wireless interface. I wouldn't need a public IP address ping DNS server.

    For example:

    This method works.

    But it does not work:

At least I have change the DNS like this:

    Then it starts working again.

I tried to initiate a capture of packets and the MacBook is not even send ping on the wireless interface requests unless there is a static DNS server assigned.

Can anyone other confirm/deny this behavior for me?

    Thank you

    Rob

What exactly are you trying to do?

You try to assign a Mac with a LAN IP address? If so, do it in the router by selecting an IP address on the local network to use with the Mac Machine (MAC address). This assumes that your router is your DHCP server. Otherwise, you need a DNS server that is running on your local network to be able to distribute IP of DHCP addresses.

  • I can't access the DNS server

I install AD and by default it also install DNS and I turn off DHCP on the router of LDC and configure the server.

I have two NIC configured with IP address:

    8.8.8.8 and 10.x.x.x IP links

    1 NIC 10.x.x.x

    subnet mask 255.255.255.0

    DNS: 8.8.8.8

    2 Nic 8.8.8.8

    Subnet mask 255.255.255.0

    DNS 8.8.8.8

I can not access the PC Client dns server, but can access the internet directly from the dhcp server, I can ping the dns 8.8.8.8 IP address but cannot access the domain. I want the client to connect to the dns server so that it can be easy to manage and add security measures. Can any expert server help me with that.

DNS issues: Installed server 2012 and DNS/DHCP issue with IP address of my network, but having routing problems.

-Some PC may well navigate the Internet

D ' others can pull up Google and that's it, they get search results, but can click on links, everything turns and resolves to any server.

-Some can ping other PC via IP and host name, but application cannot find the other PC via hostname

    Question:

-Can we go directly from a cable modem the domain controller, or a device to bind a small router (small businesses) to translate my external IP address internally?  Company would use a camera ASA or NSA...?

  • Laptops acquire wrong address DHCP, DNS and gateway wireless

I have problems with two laptops. For some strange both acquire the bad DHCP, DNS and gateway (server) respond when I try to access the Internet via Wi - Fi. For some reason, this does not happen when I use the LAN (cable) connection.

that is instead to fetch the address: 133.24.56.78 (no real address), the system retrieves / uses 111.22.33.44 (again, not a real address). BTW, these two systems are configured to fetch automatically get IP addresses and DHCP. I tried to fix the connection in both cases, but it did not work.

What can I do to fix this?

    Problem solved.

I changed the router to WEP (WPA - PSK) encryption.

It should work with the server DNS of Vodaphone.  Set the laptop to get its IP & DNS addresses automatically, then make sure that the DHCP Client service is set to automatic startup.

But a control of Trojan horse that wouldn't let me run programs and constantly beating me at every turn... so... I ran Kaspersky Rescue disk. got rid of him and then ran AVG just after it. MISSING virus!

now... problem. I can not receive an IP address from the DHCP server and when I have static IP, I can't have a resolution of any DNS server. no problem to ping ANY IP address even the public Ip addresses as ip of yahoo - 67.195.160.76...

I restarted the TCP/IP with the command "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt".

I also rebooted Winsock with the command "netsh winsock reset."

I also rebooted windows Firewall by following the steps on this link "http://support.microsoft.com/kb/920074/en-us" because I noticed that the firewall services are not started, and I can't start

so I was going to use the repair on the windows XP pro CD nice feature... but... when it tries to start windows I get the blue screen of death with the error "STOP: 0x0000007B" struck me bad drivers of HD said... I install the drivers on the CD and I can not find the DVD ROM USB that I put them outside the internal DVD ROM... as well as all my support I call usually do not respond to it phone... so I'm between a rock and a hard spot...

If anyone has an idea please feel free to help...

    Hello

Assuming that the computer is now clean.

With XP, you can do a refresh install without really touching the current applications and data.

    Refresh the Installation of XP.

Boot from the original XP CD. Ignore the first screen offers repair of the Console and continue as if you install a new XP.

After accepting etc., the new Setup screen lights up and would detect the current XP installation.

Choose repair by pressing R for repair.

Use it, would take about 45 min. and you will have an all updated XP Installation by keeping all of your data and configuration of XP.

P.S. If you have changed the WinXP security definition (special permission as Firewall), to look on them after the update, because they could go back to the default value.

  • Unable to connect to the main DNS server when you try to access the internet

Computer has worked fine for the year last until 2 weeks ago and now unable to connect to the internet.

Windows Vista on broadband and services connected directly to the modem by ethernet.  Provider Internet has run tests and confirmed modem is fine and it's like my laptop runs very well on it.

Re-initialization of the modem, internet works and you can type in a few places and it seems OK, but you can't do anything on a site, it is, enter the details and even if you try and enter anything, you can usually view 2 sites and then it goes again.  However, the network icon shows that on and connected to the internet.

The diagnosis, it is said that he cannot access the primary DNS server.

Do you have any idea how I can fix this or should I just completely re - install windows from the original disk set?

A few things you can try...  [This will be the Windows to try to automatically fix your connection]

Open 'Network and sharing Center' (you can search for it in the Vista Start menu)

Under tasks, click on "diagnose and repair".

If this fails, you can try...  [This will use the NETSHell utility to RESET your network interface (removes all static configurations and sets DHCP)]

Open a command prompt (you can also search for it on the start menu in Vista, if you have this OPTION enabled, you need to start as administrator)
The type of command line: NETSH INTERFACE IP RESET. JOURNAL

If you still have problems, try to post your IPCONFIG/all, file HOSTS and ROUTE PRINT on this forum.

    How to:

    IPCONFIG/ALL
Open the command prompt and type: IPCONFIG/all
To save the output to a file simply type at the command prompt: IPCONFIG/all > filename.txt

Your HOSTS file is located in the following path (the HOSTS file does not have an extension, it is simply named "HOSTS"):
    %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\HOSTS
    or
    C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\ETC\HOSTS

    ROUTE PRINT
Open the command prompt and type: ROUTE PRINT
To save the output to a file simply type at the command prompt: ROUTE PRINT > filename.txt

PS: If it becomes really hairy, you can provide NETSH DUMP (this provides virtually all network configurations)... You certainly shouldn't need to re - install Windows.  There is probably a setting of network configuration problem that causes this problem.  Good luck!

  • Windows cannot communicate with primary dns server

Hey everybody.  I have a home network, wired PC, 1 wifi 1.  WiFi works fine.  wired network printers work well, other computers (laptops work fine both wired and wireless.)  I have a PC (VISTA), which now gives me the "windows cannot communicate with primary dns server.  This has happened a couple of times, but a reboot fixed things.  Once I had to change primary dns server from automatic to 208.67.222.222 (who got to this site), it worked.  Now, the same error, but nothing works.  I have tried in both directions between the DNS auto numbers listed here, also, have tried the following:

    ipconfig/flushdns
    ipconfig/registerdns
    netsh interface ip reset reset.log
    netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

and had windows try to reset the DNS of countless times.  Nothing works.  The upgrade to W7 eventually will correct this problem?  Another question, my wife insists on the use of AOL software (I know, I know), even if all that she uses to is by e-mail.  She says she loves interface.  A chance that caused this problem?

    Hello

    1. have there been recent changes to the system before the show?

    2. the problem occurs only with specific applications?

    Method 1:

Follow the link and follow the steps proposed by Shekhar S and check if it helps.

    http://answers.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/Forum/Windows_7-networking/cant-communicate-with-primary-DNS-server/9043f785-2f4e-4CC1-ADF5-6ba5ca413749

    Method 2:

Follow the link below and follow the steps. Check if it helps.

Windows Vista cannot obtain an IP address from certain routers or some non-Microsoft DHCP servers

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/928233

I also suggest you to run the command in the command prompt and check where the Windows Vista computer is pointing to DNS and DHCP.

    ipconfig/all

Post back with the results in this thread.

Let us know if it helps.

  • Cannot communicate with the first DNS Server (192.168.0.1)

For about a week and a half now my brother could access the internet.  When "analyze us" the network connection, it shows the message above.

Research for this phrase raise a lot of people with problems with wireless on a laptop, but it is an office with an Ethernet connection, which worked fine for the last 4 years of 100 MB.
It is running Vista x 64.
We managed to fix briefly by uninstalling the drivers for the network card and rebooting, but now even that does not work.
Ipconfig/all shows, there always the same IP address that he always had and the NIC has the same with my fully accessible machine, 192.168.0.1 DNS server address.
I have also tried the/flushdns / release & renew functions without result.
I also tried to totally replace the drivers with a new download on Marvell website and still no joy.

I'm going to guess that you have installed McAfee? There was a problem with her recently. Try to uninstall/reinstall.

  • E2500 as DNS server?

Hello. Just managed to replace a WRT54GL with E2500 as my main router. Everything went great and the installation of the new router was pretty easy. Everything just works.

Except for one thing: the new router does not act as a DNS server on my network. Therefore, my network shares do not reconnect and I cannot ping the machines use their network name, only their IP addresses.

Run the ipconfig/all command shows 192.168.2.1 as my default gateway and DHCP server, but not as a DNS server.

I am sure that my 'old' WRT54GL acted as my DNS server

How can I configure it so? I looked through all the pages in the web UI, but could not reach an agreement. I also searched this forum and the user guide.

    Can someone help me?

Hello and thank you for taking the time to answer. My problem was solved otherwise - I think that Windows provides name resolution, I don't need a router to do. Change the router has created a new 'network' and I had to log in as administrator for all win7 machines and inform windows that this network was a home network. This fixed my problem.

The purpose of having the Bill on the router as a DNS server is to translate my LAN IP addresses into host names. In this way, I can communicate with the machines on my local network by name.

With the help of 'ipconfig/all' get DNS servers registered - with my WRT54GL, content of my list of servers DNS 192.168.2.1, which is the IP address of my router. The new router does not appear in the list of DNS servers.

In any case, my problem is solved. Thanks for your help.
