SG500 associate VLAN for DHCP server/pool

Where in the web gui you associate a pool of servers/DHCP with a VLAN?  The closet I can find would be IP Config > management of IP Interfaces & > interface IPv4 but whenever I put and IP to the VLAN I need to cycle power to access the GUI again.  I have 192.168.244.100 - 249 and 2 pools named 192.168.222.100 - 249.  VLANS are 1, 222 & 244.  I know that I can dig up old tickets and my Indigo terminal emulator library and do it using the CLI but I set about doing this through the GUI, but I can well do anything other than what I tried above that looks like it will associate a VLAN to the subnet and that is just the switch hook.

FYI, I have day the FW and Boot last night at the latest.

Hello Vini, this behavior is correct.

First do something like

The default IP address is 192.168.1.254 example would be

config t

int vlan 1

192.168.1.254/24 IP address

Once this is done you can change your other vlans as wanted.

  • DHCP server press PowerConnect 28xx series / address pool by VLAN

    Hello

I am reading the manual of the PowerConnect 2824.

I am considering buying this switch, but I have a question related to the functionality of the DHCP server.

Here my question: I want to have different VLAN and use the feature of DHCP server on each of them. Then can I have different address DHCP pools by VLAN?

    Example:

    1-16 ports VLAN1: IP subnet 192.168.1.0/24

    VLAN 2 ports 17-24: IP subnet 192.168.2.0/24

The manual is not clear on this.

    Your help is welcome.

    Kind regards

    Tom

    Daniel,

Thanks for the reply. Another question does this mean that the 28xx series switch DHCP server, recover the IP address (from the range configured) on all the VLANS configured? So if a device on VLAN 2 issued a request DHCP, it will get an IP address from the same pool as for example a device on VLAN 1.

    Kind regards

  • Cisco 1921 & SG500 VLAN and DHCP problem

    Dear all,

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read this.

    A little history:

I want to install a project for an athlete, which is unfortunately on a budget pretty tight with a potentially large quantity of network users (~ 200 without public WIFI). I need to separate the 5 groups of users and to give them all access to internet without see each other. 5 user groups also share the same bandwidth to the internet and VLANs must be controlled bandwidth.

To do this, I had planned to use Cisco devices built-in functions and buy a 1921 Cisco router as a switch of SG500.

I have configured the router for 8 subinterfaces is internal NIC with 8 VLAN. I also configured DHCP Pools 8 on the 1921 and set up NAT and firewall.

What I want to do now is have the SG500 to recognize the VLAN ID, I configured on the router (as well as on the switch using the same VLAN ID numbers), and then assign ports to the VLAN on the switch, and depending on where I plug into the switch, the device receives different IP addresses from DHCP.

However, I can't get this to work. The router works fine, the 'intact' if left switch gives me an IP address from the DHCP server on the IP address of higher network VLAN (I.e. 168.8.0). but I can not configure the switch ports correctly so that it works. I was also confused, is that dhcp pools that I have configured on the command-line command on the router do not appear in professional CP in the mask of the pool.

Can someone kindly check the configuration of the router and throw some guidance on how I need to configure the Ports on the SG500? I must say that I have had too many nights and I seem to confuse tagging, untagging, to exclusion and prohibiting the ;.)

I have the router for you here:

    Thanks again and good night!

    W.

Hi Wolfgang, for the sx500 configuration can be something like this

    config t

    database of VLAN

    VLAN 2-8

    int item in gi1/1/1

    switchport mode general

switchport trunk allowed vlan add 2-8 tag

switchport General disable filtering of capture

For any client that connects must be no tagged coelio

So if you want a client access port then you should do something like 5 unidentified to this port

    config t

    int item in gi1/1/2

    switchport mode access

    switchport access vlan 5

  • Pwerconnect 6224: vlan client computers do not receive the ip address of DHCP server on a different VLAN

    Hello

I have a prolem routing dhcp requests between the vlan management where DHCP server resides and the other VLANs.

I have the scenario of base with three VLANS: vlan 10 (management vlan), 20, 30, configured on a Powerconnect 6224 switch L2 mode. This switch is connected to a pfsense router. The router is configured at the package of road between the VLANS and it does it well.

In Vlan 10, I have a configured DHCP server to use the ip addresses of all the VLANS (10, 20, 30). VLAN 10 client computers receive ip address but not others from other VLANs.

When I put the ip address in the appropriate range of VLANs manually on computers, I ping the server and I have connectivity.

This suggests that the problem is with the dhcp package.

The DHCP server stores information that could be useful? May need to configure monitoring ports and something as wireshark to monitor DHCP packets. This would help determine where the package is stopping.

    example:

Console (config) #monitor session 1 source interface 1/g8

Console (config) #monitor session 1 destination interface 1/g10

session mode 1 #monitor console (config)

right now I don't see anything in the config of the switch that stands out. If the DHCP server is configured for option 82, then you will need to include the following command on the switch.

    Example:

    Trust l2relay console #dhcp (config-if-1/g1)

But I don't think that's our scenario here.

  • Not the DHCP server from Microsoft for Windows 7 support dhcp/tftp bootfile name based on vendor-class-identifier.

Original title: dhcp/tftp boot file name based on vendor-class-identifier.

I'm trying to start a Texas Instruments AM335x Evaluation Committee using the Windows 7 USB RNDIS driver.

AM335x is an ARM Cortex-A8 microprocessor.

I need a DHCP/BOOTP/TFTP server which is able to select the startup file to send via TFTP, based on the identifier of the provider class.

I have this working on the host Linux-Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. 'dhcpd' is the DHCP server.  dhcpd is able to select the image file

based on the received BOOTP message.  For this ARM system, it serves a sequence of image files: submarine - spl.bin (secondary program loader)

then u - boot.img (bootloader) and finally uImage (Linux kernel).  The dhcpd.conf configuration file contains the following code:

    If substring (option vendor-class-identify, 0, 10) = "AM335x ROM"

    {

    file name "u-boot - spl.bin";

    }

    elsif substring (option vendor-class-identify, 0, 17) = 'AM335x submarine SPL.

    {

    file name "u - boot.img".

    }

    on the other

    {

    file name "uImage";

    }

Thus, the dhcpd Linux BOOTP server is able to select the correct to send from the Linux host via TFTP image file.

based on the content of the message BOOTP ('ROM AM335x', "AM335x submarine SPL" or neither of those two.)

  • WLC 5508 internal DHCP server issues

    Hello

I'm hoping to get your comments around the issues of dhcp, I faced with two centrally switched Wireless LAN. I have attempted to explain the installation and the problems below and would be grateful if anyone can suggest a solution for the problems I am facing:

    The configuration is the following:

-J' have a WLC 5508, which has been configured with 4 SSID, of which 2 are the Central authentication and commissioning.
-J' have a LWAP connected to the WLC in HREAP mode.
-WLC is configured as a DHCP server for clients that connect to the SSID "Guest." For the rest, I'm on external dhcp server.
-Only one scope of comments Interface is configured on the WLC.

    Problems:

    1. as far as I know, to WLC serve internal dhcp server, it is mandatory to have the proxy enabled, but the Clients connecting to 'Internet' SSID are

Unable to get an external dhcp server ip address, if the proxy dhcp is enabled on the WLC. If I disable the proxy, everything works fine.

2 DHCP does not release the ip addresses assigned to clients, even after that that they are connected.

    3. If a machine that has previously been connected to "Guest" SSID connects to the 'Internet' SSID, he asks the same ip address, he was charged by the WLC assigned under "Guest", it gets the tag with the Vlan configured on the management interface.

  • 300 SF/SG DHCP server

    Hello

is it possible for the SF/SG300 switches serve as a DHCP server for the VLAN-s employees.

Switch a VLAN1 as management VLAN - has assigned IP address.

The switch has VLAN extra - VLAN200 and I would like SG300 act as a DHCP server for the clients on this VLAN.

    Is this possible at all?

Hi Jeremy, the switch must operate in layer 3. You can enable the dhcp server by vlan.

To be eligible to do a DHCP pool for a vlan level 3, none of the interface vlan can have an IP address issued via DHCP, so you vlan 1 and 200 must have a static ip address assigned.  The vlan 1 requires no dhcp server configured for vlan 200 to have a.

Here is an example of configuration

  • On SG300 DHCP server configuration error

Firmware 1.3 introduced a DHCP server.

It seems that I can add a pool for any subnet except for the 192.168.1.1/24. I've successfully added a pool for 192.168.0.1/24, 172.16.16.1/24, etc. But when I use the same commands to add a pool 192.168.1.1/24, I get:

SW (config) #ip dhcp pool perimeter network

    SW(config-DHCP) low #address 192.168.1.20 192.168.1.250 high 255.255.255.0

Illegal IP address range, or subnet configuration tries to configure a pool of network on the default IP interface

VLAN 1 IP went from 192.168.1.254 to 192.168.0.1 static default.

    Any ideas?

    Hi Frank,.

Looks like you are experiening, bug CQ145102. There is currently no work around: Sx300 1.3.0 FW Release Notes.

Problem: You cannot configure IP address 192.168.1.0/24 subnet as an address

pool, other subnets are allowed. (CQ145102)

    Solution: There is no workaround.

I open a case with Cisco Small Business Support, have your degenerate case and see if you can get the beta FW. The only alternative would be to review your network in order to eliminate the 192.168.1.0/24 subnet.

    Kind regards

  • Wirless VLAN and DHCP

Basically I have the BVI on my virtual LAN management and two other vlans that cross, try to have the public WiFi on 1 vlan and the two VLAN corporate with separate wifi. Impossible to get IPs on any of them though.

Vlnas are moved by a catlayst 3550 with addresses of assistance set up on all the VLAN interfaces.

    Hello

If I understand, you have plugged your access point to one of the L2 switch. I suggest you to set up your L3 (tandem switch) with pool dhcp to obtain the ip address for vlan respective first.

To set the dhcp pool in your L3 192.168.2.1.

create interface IVR and IP address assignment for the VLAN respective (which will act as a gateway of the vlan respective)

Repeat the same for all the VLANS.

Create the DHCP pool for the vlan respective and router by default with the ip address of L3.

    AccessPoint#configure terminal
    AccessPoint(config)#interface dot11radio 0

    DHCP works fine without problems.

Customers get their inclusive information of router, DNS, and domain IP Configuration name.

As a DNS server, I configured a server bind9 under winded raspbian.

The bind9 is configured to allow dynamic updates and DNS works as expected.

Manually using NSUPDATE I can make dynamic updates to bind9 DHCP clients areas.

But this isn't what I want.

I want to make the SG300 DHCP server dynamic updates to the DNS zones.

Would be the Option DHCP 81 (Client FQDN) useful?

    Any idea is welcome. :-)

Looking forward to hear from you because it drives me crazy.

    Best regards

    Rainer.

Sorry for the delay in reply Rainer.  I tried to set this up in my lab and became GUI of entry of unexpected results that did not affect the packages at all.  Checked with my contacts and they advised me that it is not supported on this switch option 81.  Given that the client sends to the server on how to update DNS records, the switch does not support this dynamic configuration.

Referring to the data sheet for the SG300, these are supported options listed:

    DHCP (12, 66, 67, 82, 129 and 150 Options)

Here is the link to the datasheet.

    http://www.Cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/switches/small-business-smart-switches/data_sheet_c78-610061.html

Sorry about the information, but is not a supported option.

  • Using Cisco AP as router and DHCP server

I'm a newbie in the technology of Cisco wireless. I have a lot of Cisco wireless access point. One of them (1142AG-K9 Cisco) I want to set them up as a DHCP server and will forward traffic to the public ip address as it will route the traffic to 203.82.203.50 (Ip provided by ISP) and will lease ip as associated devices 192.168.10.0 pool.

Even though I know that it is possible using a router on the AP. But it is possible using a single access point?

    If so, how?

    Help, please.

Hi, the AP cisco are just basic layer 2 devices such as a hub or Layer 2 switch, it does not any layer 3 as a wireless router.

The Cisco access point supports to have a VLAN or subnet configured or more VLANS or subnets and will pass all traffic to a layer 3 devic so that traffic can be routed to the need.

The Ap can't stand to have an addrees ip configured on the bvi1 for the management.

Also the build in the ap dhcp option is very limited and will only know the ip address to wirless clints that connect to it on an ssid linked to its management interface in this case that the bvi1 and all them VLAN othe or subnets shall not use an external dhcp server.
