Shared actions

Hi there, I wonder if anyone has had problems with the shared Actions by which you run preview in Captivate and even if you said to hide to say all the legends and the images related to the buttons that all photos and captions appear still and it's not until you click on a button to bring up those items that other objects disappear accordingly. I would like to know your opinion and if you have any ideas why doesn't Bravo Rikki

I think you forgot to hide the Group c and p. initially? Either you set hidden output in their properties panel or you use the action on enter the slide you want to hide.

For the most part I prefer the second scenario myself, because the slide will be reset upon returning to her. This action on enter will look like this:

  • Hide AllCaptions
  • Hide AllPictures

You can turn this into a shared action as well, with two parameters. In case you use Captivate 9, I recommend having a look at the States of.

Joint actions have been improved in CP8 compared to CP7, because the variables and literals have been added as parameters. This could be the cause of your problems.

  • Shared action problem - settings

I have a tip action that assigns a number of values to variables created in Captivate. As shown in the figure below.

He navigationLock is set to false. When the shared action is created, as noted below, there is no registration for the setting of the parameter false to the navigationLock variable. Everyone knows this? Is there a work around?

Post edited by: Lieve Weymeis: it is not a mistake, everything in the list of parameters is correct.

Have you read this blog? I see the 'false' as the second element in the parameter list. But if you use 'fake' several times in the tip action, it will appear only once in the list. That's why I tried to explain that it is a bad idea to set such a Boolean value as a parameter. Even when you have the variable appears several times in the tip action, it appears only once as a candidate parameter and be careful. Not every advanced action is able to be converted into a shared action, reason why I wrote several blog posts, and I am writing a book at the moment.

As a new feature, you must learn how it works, what its possibilities and its limitations are. I explored much shared actions because they appeared with CP7 and acquired an idea, to help judge whether an action is apt to become an action shared or not.

BTW, this isn't a shared action error, I will change the title. You have a problem with the understanding of common action, it is not a bug or a mistake.

Not as far as I know. Only the parameters are mandatory (objects, groups and slides) and candidate settings (variables and literals). The argument to the command open an URL is not in this list. The argument is the same level as the arguments indeed apply: only the object will be a parameter, not the effect itself, or the beginning and the duration of this effect (if you're the CP9).

I'll repeat an old feature request here: If we were able to use the concatenation of such a command... .the URL that can be stored in a variable.

Your goal can be achieved with JS.

  • Other keys work on display is "off" shared action

    Hello

I have a relatively simple scenario where users click on the scenario (click boxes that leads them to the next page).

When a user gets to the last screen in the scenario, I have a retry button that jumps to the first slide in the scenario and a back button that just goes back to the last slide in the scenario.

I also have a button prior to execution of a relatively simple shared action as follows:

It jumps forward to another slide, and assigns a '1' to a variable, but I also activated to this click box so it tells you that they have clicked on the button of the declaration.

When I delete the button following the 'previous' buttons and 'Retry' work very well.

When I on the slide (although hidden), it prevents them from working.

I'm not sure to know if the fact that it runs a shared action or the fact he reports the click that prevents the other 2 buttons work?

    Thank you

  • How can I change a shared action

    Hello community,

I build interactions of simple training on mine. In these interactions, I advanced Actions and shared Actions.

Sometimes I want to change some things in a shared creations (for example I want to incorporate a new variable).

For me, it would be really great if I could change some questions and then to save the Action shared under the same name.  But I Don t find this possibility. Captivate always ask a new name and then I have to take a new name for the shared action and change all the actions in my slides.to the new Action.

My question: how to change some questions in my shared Action and save the shared under the same name (old) action?

    Thank you

    Rainer

As for joint actions, there is still no workflow smooth for editing. Maybe these tips can help:

If you make sure that the old shared action no longer applied to any event by checking the use of the library, you are able to remove this action. But as you change, start first by creating an 'Advanced' action (no need to name), based on the model that exists for each share of action and that you find under the white button. You complete the settings, you can save it as a tip action. Then delete the old shared action. The created tip action can now be saved as an action shared the same name. It is quite exceptional. Too bad, you will need to set all the parameters again, enter the description of the action and the parameters. There is no way to keep this information, crossing my fingers that the workflow will be, at least in a future version, more user friendly.

  • Conditional shared Actions? CP 8

So with this new update, we can add the variables as parameters in common actions. Amazing! I love! But now use it as a shared action seems a bit difficult or impossible. This isn't a complaint, you mind, I just want to know how to operate it.

The shared action panel shows not any decision blocks so it's a bit confusing and it makes me wonder if it's possible.

So I guess to answer my own question... I exported the action shared and then open the XML to see the guts of action and discovered that indeed all decisions are here. It's just a little confusing when building it from the shared action screen. Descriptions very very detailed will be a must. Even to the point of remarking on how variable or an object is associated with a block of decision. Still a huge timesaver if.

  • Change action shared the Cp9

I created a shared action and linked to the Submit button on four knowledge questions. Now I want to change to add some actions, but I can not understand how to open it for editing. Within the project framework > advanced Actions, I don't see it in the list, so I can't open it there. I see it at the end of the library list, but when I look at the properties of the joint action, the button change is not available. I thought maybe it was because it was in use for the next, I disattached it starting from the four Submit buttons. That did not work, and when I check its use, it is said that it is still attached to the buttons. How can I add actions to my shared action?

It is not possible to edit a shared action. You can open the shared as a model for a new action action: models are under the 'White' button, at the top left of the dialog box advanced actions. Change the action and save it again as a shared action. It's too heavy, I know, so I advice to record a feature request for a workflow easier. Yes, I did.

  • Shared copy actions and objects with the new settings

    Hi all

I have a problem with objects and actions. Here's the scenario:

I have a sentence where some parts are written in an informal way. The user is to type the words in the sentence, he or she thinks are informal, and they are highlighted. The user can click a button "submit" at any time, and if all the correct words have been highlighted, they receive a correct message.

To achieve this, I have given every word click two boxes (one for in and out), a highlight box and have created common actions for the latter to work.

When I copy the Group (the two click boxes and highlight box), actions are copied too. However, the parameters of joint actions continue to point to the original and not a copy. So my question is...

Is it possible to copy objects and their associated common actions and include the settings of the shared actions change to match the newly copied objects?

    Hi HaridossR1234

Thank you for your e-mail. The solution was indeed that the Captivate version was not updated (it was 7.0.0 something, as opposed to 7.0.1).) After updating, the problem no longer occurs. Thank you very much for your help!

  • Links for slide to jump on the exit action

I have a slide menu with links to several slides (for example. Link to: > > 1 Introduction of drag) as part of the project.

The menu slide has an advanced action is triggered 'leaving '.

If the user selects a link of the menu are accompanied to the correct slide but the action by leaving the menu slide is not triggered.

Should not leave the slide always trigger the action of leaving?

What I do link to trigger a shared action and go to the relevant there slide instead?

Captivate doesn't work this way by default.  The exit Action on only gets triggered by the last image of the slide.  By jumping to another slide until this image is reached, invalidate you any chance to perform this action.

You are on the first version of 9. This bug has been fixed very quickly (in September or October, 2015). Please install the update of 9.0.1.320 has published a few months ago, which includes the patch as well. It happened to the upgrade of the conditional actions: some have been converted to shared actions.

Why do you use a conditional action instead of a standard action in this case? Or you have several decisions?

Be careful with the names: you cannot use the same name twice, not even totally different things. Maybe it wasn't a typo, but I see "opcion22" for a "option 22' for an object with the States and action. It is best to keep to a naming convention for not having problems.

  • Defined by the user variable and conditional actions

    Hi all

I use 6 Captivate on a Windows machine and tries to create a scneario where the user try to break the code on a safe. I have an image of a standard numeric keypad 0-9 and an additional 'enter/submit' button and have click boxes assigned to each digit.

What I want to do is allow users to have unlimited attempts to break the 4-digit code and open the safe but I only want them to discover if they are successful or not when they hit the Enter - key, but I hit a brick wall when creating actions in order to identify the correct numbers is entered in the correct order.

As an alternative to this method, is there a way to capture the choice the user four-digit in a variable and then test if the variable resultuing score is correct?

Which makes sense for what I want to achieve?

    Thank you

    Simon

Of course, this can be done by JS, but it is also possible with advanced/shared actions. Since you're the COP6, joint actions are excluded. Here are some old articles that explain the use cases similar to what you want:

  • How to create an advanced private action?

I would like to create a check box to close a chart that appears in a tip action. Say you click on a button to open a box, I want an advanced to coose action that has the box.  Can someone give me directions on how to do it?

I want to use it on again once and for all the boxes that open.

    Thank you.

I do not quite understand the question. You want to create a toggle button which shows/hides a text container? In this case take a look at this blog where I use a conditional shared action for such a toggle button, using a v_visib variable user:

  • Drag and drop custom actions - 8 Captivate

    Good afternoon!

I created a drag drop in 8 Captivate that has 2 targets and 4 drag sources.  3 of the sources go to 1 goal and 1 source to another.  What I try to do is:

    1. when the first source fell next on the list will appear and so on for the 4 options.

    2. when the user clicks on the button send a "Congratulations" message appears.

3 when the wrong answer is removed, the source snaps back into the list.

I have tried so many different configurations... any help is very appreciated.

At wanted to check a second time, I have therefore created a short with project

    • four containers of text as drag sources: S_one, S_two, S_three, S_four
    • two targets Target1 and Target2
    • S_one and the fall of two targets are visible output
    • S_two, S_three and S_four are invisible in output
    • in my configuration, what do drag the first three sources were to return to Target1 and Target1 S_four; your installation may be different, but you set the drag source sequence, so you know perfectly well that one should apply to that target
    • set up the D & D according to the usual procedure
    • Destination1 and click 'Actions of the object' of the D & D Panel format tab. Because I'm in the CP9 who has the opportunity to uncheck 'Project to continue playing' for a single action, I could use them. Look at this screenshot:
I unchecked all accept and indicated the correct three, drag sources, changed the number 3, because they will have to be accepted all of them on the first target. Sources of bad drag will be 'Go back' to its original position.
After dragging S_One action was changed to show S_Two (second drag source). You must change this simple action for a standard action "Execute advanced Action" with the same unique command "S_two Show" to avoid releasing the read head. If you're familiar with this, I would use a shared action. Similar editing for the other two sources of drag, just change S_Two of S_Three to the second action and S_four for the third action.
    • Select Target2, again press the object actions, uncheck the box "accept all the ' and indicate good drag source, this time count is 1. In my setup you don't have to choose the action, because it's the last drag source. However if the drag source is not S_four for this target, you must put in a similar action, as I explained to Target1 and take action on the last drag source that will then be in the Target1 dialog box.

As for the Message should appear, I have explained in the blog post (a first) how to create a success Message. BTW this success message is now available out of the box to the CP9.

  • quiz or not? and... the button which has two actions?

    Hi all:

This is the experience I want for the user:

    1. At the opening, the user will see instructions, a button (Counsellor response #1) and a set of five radio buttons on the right side of the screen.
    2. User clicks the answer to advise #1. Response text appears; at the same time, launching audio response.
    3. The user selects one of the option buttons and click on send. Feedback popup appears.
    4. When the user clicks to close the feedback popup, advise response #2 button is displayed.
    5. The user clicks on the reply button to advise #2.

And so on, until the user has heard/read all the answers five Advisor.

Originally, I used the Quiz tool multiple choice for that. (But this isn't technically a quiz. Users will not be marked on their choices, but will get "correct" and "incorrect" - type of feedback. They will also be encouraged to reflect on the reasons for their responses and be prepared to discuss with their supervisor.) I placed each answer to advise on a screen separate, and pretty well got it works this way, even though I had not yet added in the audio. Now I'm back after a long absence (period during which I forgot a lot of things), and I decided my existing design could be confusing for the user, so I switched to what you see here - all five answers (for a video of 'client' user to look on the previous screen) and their feedback on a single screen. And I tried to add the audio.

I visited the advanced Actions panel and looked at the Captivate 'aid' of the page. I was following help along pretty well until the step that says "Complete writing code, using the options provided." I had no idea what they were referring to with the "code" or "provided options. So I tried to do what I want using just the properties panel for the answer of the Advisor button. The properties panel offers only one action per button, however.

    So my questions:

    1. How can I get a button to do two things at the same time (for example, display the text and play the audio)? If I could understand the advanced Actions 'code', I bet this button could do.

    2. I gave almost all Quiz items except the radio buttons and their links to comments. For example, when I added responses Advisor #2-#5 on the screen, I discovered I could not simply copy and paste from other slides or show the style of question on the screen, that I wanted to move. So I used Legend boxes. In addition, it seemed to me that a question box there is no advantage in this regard. So my question is: will, abandoning architecture quiz problems on the road?

I'm sorry it's so long. Thanks in advance!

It does not resemble me you should use quizzes Questions to this interaction in any case.  This is not what they have been specifically designed for.

You can perform multiple actions in a single button click using the Standard Actions or conditional Actions.  I suggest that you will probably need to use this last longer than probably he finally some variables involved so that you can check what other options the user has already tried.

However, I would hasten also to point out that you take here something that might be beyond your current understanding of interactivity of Captivate.  You may need to start studying up on top of the Variables, Run-time Events, stock Standard, conditional Actions and perhaps even of shared Actions.  Understanding these concepts will put you in better shape to succeed this interaction.
