Conditional shared Actions? CP 8

So with this new update, we can add the variables as parameters in common actions. Amazing! I love! But now use it as a shared action seems a bit difficult or impossible. This isn't a complaint, you mind, I just want to know how to operate it.

The shared action panel shows not any decision blocks so it's a bit confusing and it makes me wonder if it's possible.

So I guess to answer my own question... I exported the action shared and then open the XML to see the guts of action and discovered that indeed all decisions are here. It's just a little confusing when building it from the shared action screen. Descriptions very very detailed will be a must. Even to the point of remarking on how variable or an object is associated with a block of decision. Still a huge timesaver if.

Joint actions have been improved in CP8 compared to CP7, because the variables and literals have been added as parameters. This could be the cause of your problems.

Post edited by: Lieve Weymeis: it is not a mistake, everything in the list of parameters is correct.

Have you read this blog? I see the 'false' as the second element in the parameter list. But if you use 'fake' several times in the tip action, it will appear only once in the list. That's why I tried to explain that it is a bad idea to set such a Boolean value as a parameter. Even when you have the variable appears several times in the tip action, it appears only once as a candidate parameter and be careful. Not every advanced action is able to be converted into a shared action, reason why I wrote several blog posts, and I am writing a book at the moment.

As a new feature, you must learn how it works, what its possibilities and its limitations are. I explored much shared actions because they appeared with CP7 and acquired an idea, to help judge whether an action is apt to become an action shared or not.

BTW, this isn't a shared action error, I will change the title. You have a problem with the understanding of common action, it is not a bug or a mistake.

Not as far as I know. Only the parameters are mandatory (objects, groups and slides) and candidate settings (variables and literals). The argument to the command open an URL is not in this list. The argument is the same level as the arguments indeed apply: only the object will be a parameter, not the effect itself, or the beginning and the duration of this effect (if you're the CP9).

I'll repeat an old feature request here: If we were able to use the concatenation of such a command... .the URL that can be stored in a variable.

Your goal can be achieved with JS.

  • Shared actions

Hi there, I wonder if anyone has had problems with the shared Actions by which you run preview in Captivate and even if you said to hide to say all the legends and the images related to the buttons that all photos and captions appear still and it's not until you click on a button to bring up those items that other objects disappear accordingly. I would like to know your opinion and if you have any ideas why doesn't Bravo Rikki

I think you forgot to hide the Group c and p. initially? Either you set hidden output in their properties panel or you use the action on enter the slide you want to hide.

For the most part I prefer the second scenario myself, because the slide will be reset upon returning to her. This action on enter will look like this:

    • Hide AllCaptions
    • Hide AllPictures

You can turn this into a shared action as well, with two parameters. In case you use Captivate 9, I recommend having a look at the States of.

    Hello

I have a relatively simple scenario where users click on the scenario (click boxes that leads them to the next page).

When a user gets to the last screen in the scenario, I have a retry button that jumps to the first slide in the scenario and a back button that just goes back to the last slide in the scenario.

I also have a button prior to execution of a relatively simple shared action as follows:

It jumps forward to another slide, and assigns a '1' to a variable, but I also activated to this click box so it tells you that they have clicked on the button of the declaration.

When I delete the button following the 'previous' buttons and 'Retry' work very well.

When I on the slide (although hidden), it prevents them from working.

I'm not sure to know if the fact that it runs a shared action or the fact he reports the click that prevents the other 2 buttons work?

  • How can I change a shared action

    Hello community,

I build interactions of simple training on mine. In these interactions, I advanced Actions and shared Actions.

Sometimes I want to change some things in a shared creations (for example I want to incorporate a new variable).

For me, it would be really great if I could change some questions and then to save the Action shared under the same name.  But I Don t find this possibility. Captivate always ask a new name and then I have to take a new name for the shared action and change all the actions in my slides.to the new Action.

My question: how to change some questions in my shared Action and save the shared under the same name (old) action?

    Thank you

    Rainer

As for joint actions, there is still no workflow smooth for editing. Maybe these tips can help:

If you make sure that the old shared action no longer applied to any event by checking the use of the library, you are able to remove this action. But as you change, start first by creating an 'Advanced' action (no need to name), based on the model that exists for each share of action and that you find under the white button. You complete the settings, you can save it as a tip action. Then delete the old shared action. The created tip action can now be saved as an action shared the same name. It is quite exceptional. Too bad, you will need to set all the parameters again, enter the description of the action and the parameters. There is no way to keep this information, crossing my fingers that the workflow will be, at least in a future version, more user friendly.

  • Data Driven Conditions, alarms & Actions

I have a Multiple-severity rule configured with 4 alerts (Normal, warning, critical and Fatal). the alarm goes off when a certain percentage is reached. Ditto for criticism and Fatal. My question is, what triggers the normal alert in a Data Driven rule. I currently have it set to email me. I was under the impression that when a warning, critical or fatal alarm is resolved, the normal alert would fire and send me an email. My warning, critical and Fatal rules do not seem to be pulled because I don't get emails. However, my normal alert is fired. There is no place in the normal alert to set a condition, only an alarm message.

    Thank you

    Hi Jeff,

Gravity Foglight several rules are State. This means that they are triggered when the State of the condition. Monitored objects start to the Normal State. If the Fatal, critical or warning condition is true, the State of the object will be set according to the severity and of the actions of severities will trigger.

The same rule may be reassessed at the same severity for a number of iterations, but no further action is triggered that rule corresponds to a different State. This could happen in two ways:

    1. The rule evaluates a more severe State to true. for example, Warning-> criticism or Fatal, critical to Fatal
    2. The rule evaluates the Fatal, critical conditions and warning false

In the first case, the State of the object passes to the more severe State and the associated actions that will trigger more severe condition.

In the second case, the State of the object returns to normal, the alarm is deactivated and the actions associated with the Normal State are triggered.

In this context, the answers to your questions are:

    1. The Normal State is triggered when an object that was previously in Fatal, critical or warning States is re-evaluated and fatal, critical conditions and warning to evaluate false.
    2. Normal conditions should only fire after a warning, critical or fatal returns to normal.
    3. It is possible for a State Normal shoot without warning pre-existing, critical or fatal rules of shooting first, but this is unexpected behavior that probably indicates a bug. A package of support with the recording of debugging is probably necessary to diagnose this problem.

The foregoing is based on the actions defined to trigger on "enter". It is also possible to set up actions on 'Out' of a given State, but this feature is rarely used. Like "Heading" shares "Exit" are also triggered when the State of an object changes.

    Kind regards

  • Dynamic with several Conditions when action

    APEX 4.2 on XE

Hi all, I'm trying to create a dynamic Action based on several when conditions... The docs seem to indicate you can do, but I can't seem to trigger.

    Basically I have a DA

    Event: change

    Selection type: item (s)

    Article (s): P42_NEW_REC, P42_STATUS_ID

    Condition: equality

    Value N, 43

Individually, these trigger very well, but does not fire? Is it possible to have several times conditions? If so, what is the problem with the above.

Alternatively, if not, if someone could give better advice to achieve the same thing, Id be grateful...

  • refer to the dynamic field of tabular form in Condition of Action

I tried to filter on this topic but didn't come with anything.

Is there a way to refer to a field in a tabular presentation as a condition of dynamic action?

For example, I want to make it appear a message (javascript "alert") when the value of a field in a tabular presentation is changed, but only if a certain condition meets another field in the same line.  So let's say the State field is XYZ.  So in the condition section, I PL/SQL Expression - XYZ IS NULL.  Something like that.  How I refer to this field my table form XYZ in the section on the status of a dynamic action?

    Thanks in advance.

    To complete the loop and the color of things right;

    condition under when is

    $v (this.triggeringElement) = "SNSG" //or whatever, it should be

The real action is then (note that I use the $v instead of the more modern value notation).

    var myid = $(this.triggeringElement);

var specval = $v (myid); value of the species

var weightval is myid.closest ('tr').find('.myweight').val ();. the weight value

    Alert (weightval);

I hope that you should get the installer

  • Conditional advanced Actions does not work

Hello - I've implemented an advanced conditional action and it apparently has a bug in it, but I can't understand what the bug is. With this slide, the user is asked to enter a letter in each four text entry areas and if all the answers are correct, you will jump to a slide, and if one of these four is incorrect then you will go to another slide.  What is happening is that the conditional formatting is respecting the criteria custom of the last two - input-box 14 and 15 (they both have reason to slide right) but it seems not dealing with what you enter in the areas of two first text TEB-12 and 13, you are always taken to the 'right' instead of 'else' slide slide Anyone know what I did wrong?  Thank you!

    matchgameadact1.png

    matchgameadact2.png

Why didn't you just four TEBs post the entries and if it is correct, pass a value to a variable. (success increment $$boxes$ $ 1)

You can define a conditional that checks this variable for the correct number. (if $$boxes$ $ = 4, pageX goto)

  • How to create an advanced private action?

I would like to create a check box to close a chart that appears in a tip action. Say you click on a button to open a box, I want an advanced to coose action that has the box.  Can someone give me directions on how to do it?

I want to use it on again once and for all the boxes that open.

    Thank you.

I do not quite understand the question. You want to create a toggle button which shows/hides a text container? In this case take a look at this blog where I use a conditional shared action for such a toggle button, using a v_visib variable user:

  • Review of each slide in the Question area

I put the field of examination of each slide of the question, but I can't find not visible. Can I find out if I have missed something?

    Capture2.JPG

    Capture.JPG

    # The examination area is not for this purpose, and in most of the types of questions it is no longer used.

I would say the best way to do what you want is to place a shape on the Quiz slides roughly the same place as the control area is right now, but make sure that it would not be obscured by other elements of the quiz slide.  Add the text of the feedback to the shape you want the learner to see when you perform the revision Quiz and the Visible output value for these objects shape on each slide quiz to be OFF.  Then create a conditional Advanced Action (or conditional Shared Action) must be run on the entrance to slide for each slide of the questionnaire.  This conditional action checks if the Variable system called cpInReviewMode is set to 1, and so it will SHOW the shape on the slide object, OTHERWISE it will HIDE this same shape (just in case).

Then, this should mean that if your user name click the quiz of revisions on the Quiz results slide, they will see these forms of additional feedback, but at any other time, they will be invisible.

  • Advanced conditional action does not work when I add the second condition

I use CP 8. I can't understand why I'm running on this problem. I have a series of If-Then conditional actions, but I am running into problems. I narrowed down it to this problem.

It is a simple check box that must show either the box or not.

    Action1.jpg

As long as I have only one condition, it works fine. As soon as I add the second condition, it stops working.

    Action2.jpg

Any suggestions? I appreciate the help!

Rick and I tried to explain that a conditional action is always executed completely. This is the reason that the second decision has been reset what had been done in the first in your first question. I have a lot of articles on my blog where I point out that bad sequence in the decision (or) is causing most of the problems with conditional advanced (shared) actions.

  • Variable/conditional Actions and a table of contents slide

The Adobe eLearning Summit, I sat in class Advanced Action Joe and Lily, and I saw how we could add a checkmark (or indicator) to a table of contents slide.  I should take better notes, because I'm working on it and not get anywhere.  My logic may be simple.  So here's what I did.

    (1) I have created a user for Chapter 1 (v_chap1) variable and set it to 0.

    (2) on the 3 blades that make up chapter 1, I have an exit Action on where v_chap1 is incremented by 1.

    (3) on the Table of content slide, I have a hidden check box (named: check mark).

    (4) the box is controlled by a conditional action where if v_chap1 = 3, then show the check mark.

Of course, it did not work.  I place the variable in a text on the blade of my OCD caption, to see if he could increase and it is not, it remains at 0.  So basically I'm stuck at step 2.

Any help would be appreciated.  I'm on: v6.0.1.204

It's crazy to get me to explain as well advanced and shared actions within an hour. Have a 6 hour workshop ready where this kind of use case is one of the subjects, but never have the opportunity to do so. Too bad...

Begin to wonder if online training would attract enough participants? Suppose not.

Preparation of a book of recipes for advanced actions, and this will certainly be one of these use cases. Problem is not the content but the format of the book and distribution, this is where I'm totally stuck.

I have this model TOC ready for 6 and 7, but I offer it for free any more as I did for CP5 and 5.5.

    Take a look on: http://blog.lilybiri.com/template-for-reusing-script

And my blog has a lot of use cases.

Some tips: never use an action on the release, see: http://blog.lilybiri.com/events-and-advanced-actions
