Shared network PDF printer

Hello!

A little bit the first context:

I installed a printer Adobe PDF on a Windows Server 2008 R2 and share it so I can add the printer to my client.

My intention is to print a document on my client via the Adobe PDF printer added and let it directly put my PDF documents printed on a specific folder on the server where the printer is installed.

When I am connected to the server that hosts the printer Adobe PDF installed it works fine.

All my docs are converted to PDF format and be saved in the folder specified.

When I print a document on my client, I get an error in the printerqueue on the server.

The document don't be converted not be saved in the directory it lies simply in the queue in an error state.

My question is, if it is even possible to share Adobe PDF printer on network, so the other can use.

Or Adobe prevents us from doing this for the sake of sales, or something? Do I need a special permit?

Kind regards

Joyce

As far as I know (but I am not a lawyer), you are not allowed to do so according to the EULA, you accepted when you installed Acrobat.

  • Error with deleting the PDF file opened in preview only pane on the shared network drives

I have a problem within Windows Explorer, I file open with say dozens of PDFs I have the preview pane open so I can tell what was on the pdf file selected without fully open. After you have determined whether I need it or not, I'd go for delete the file. However, with the file selected and preview pane, you can not delete the file gives an error message saying: the file is already open and cannot be deleted.

I found that this happens on users with Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 machines at my place of work with different versions of Adobe Reader and Acrobat. Main versions being Acrobat 9-10, drive DC 15. Also only on the product on shared network drives, local hard drives are not the issue.

Also, I installed another PDF reader and do not have the same problem if I put it in the default PDF Viewer. Leads me to believe that the problem is with the Adobe programs and non-Windows. I want to continue to use Adobe since I have a lot of licenses of Acrobat. Turn off the preview pane is not an option for my end users, since the amount of PDF files that they go through in a day is quite high.

    Please notify.

I'm sorry. I'm all out of suggestions. There may be others somewhere that I saw but patches are usually

1 turn off the preview pane

    2. use shift-delete

    3. remove the drive and use another pdf reader

Vista continues to disconnect the network printer. I have uninstall and then re-install the printer in Control Panel. Never had this problem with XP. It is not the network, because I can print from our cell phones. All the drivers are installed and up-to-date. The printer is a HP Officejet Pro 7780 All In One.  It's very frustrating.

Is there a solution to this problem? Thank you

    Hello

    (1) make sure that the file and printer sharing is enabled.

    (2) If you are using a computer connected to a "working group", click on the arrow next to password protected sharing to expand this section.  Check if password protected sharing is enabled or disabled.

If the password sharing is enabled, only people with a user account and password for this computer will be able to access your printer. Disable this option if you want anyone on the network can access the printer you share unless you give then a user account and password.

    Install the printer driver

Use a driver downloaded from the manufacturer's site to install the printer

    1. If you use the downloaded driver, double-click the downloaded file, then click on 'run '. The file will then be extracted and start the driver installation.

2 follow the prompts and continue with the installation until you reach the Setup completed screen appears.

    3. on this screen, check the "Select" printer port box, and then click on the manual button 'Selection '.

    4. Select "" LPT1: port local printer ' and click on 'OK', then click 'Finish'. "

    5. in the Printers window, right-click the printer icon and select 'Properties' (access to the Printers window)

    6. click on the tab "Ports", and then click 'Add Port '.

    7. Select "Local Port" and click "new port" button.

    8. Enter the name of the port using the XP computer name and the name of the printer in the \\ComputerName\PrinterName form and then click 'OK '. Close the Port name window.

    9. click on 'Close' in the Printer Ports window.

    10. the new port poster now as being selected. Click "close".

    11. click on "Install driver" If the following window appears. You are now ready to print.

Another thing is to make sure that if the firewall windows is that there is an exception specified for sharing files and printing.

Make sure that all the computers are on the same workgroup. By default, XP machines are set to "MSHOME" while Vista machines are set to "WORKGROUP". They should both say WORKGROUP.

  • Sharing a Kodak printer between win 7 64 bit and vista 32 bit

I have a kodak esp 3 printer connected to a vista 32 bit desktop pc. I share this printer on a wireless network in my house. I try to print from a laptop 64-bit windows 7, but failed to add this network printer to the computer windows 7. I think all I need are the x 64 drivers and add them via the systems vista printer properties.

We now print by saving the document in the "Shared Documents" folder of mobile access and then print from the vista machine.

After three long chat, phone and e-mail conversations with the technical support of kodak, what they say is this printer can't print wireless.

They do not understand, it is a shared network printer, and I'm not trying to print directly to the printer via wi - fi, because I know that that does not support this printer.

Any help, advice or where I could get a kodak 64 bit print driver would thank you very much

Hi, I had not checked on this for a while, I couldn't get anywhere with x 64 drivers for Kodak for us would simply send documents on the Vista desktop, and then print them. So finally last night I upgraded the Office to Win 7, the upgrade price on Amazon is great-now $89, all problems are solved, put in place a homegroup print, share files and listen to music and video. Big difference in the performance of old desktop of 3 years. I should have done this 6 months he is a. sorry I have no solution to the original problem. Thanks - Matt

Tried the solutions all possible "Found home" - nothing works for me.
    Problem:
I am invited to a password everytime I try to access a PC running Windows 7 since Vista PC (password protection sharing is already disabled on PC Win7)
Tried every possible password - don't leave me.

    Please:
Has anyone encountered the same issue and have you been able to solve it?

This thread was written for a Win7-WinXP network, but a user found that it worked for Vista as well.  If you have a router, then jump on all references to the IP settings that your router will have them defined for you.

A procedure step by step for the creation of an Ethernet cable to both computers between Windows 7 and Windows XP with ICS

To begin, you must make the password protected sharing turned on.

  • Apex 4.2.2 with earphone Apex 2.0 PDF print

We have recently installed 4.2 with 2.0 Apex Apex earpiece and correctly print interactive reports and classic reports in PDF format.  I saw Mark Sewtz PDF print with Apex 4.2.2 and I saw how he uses third-party tools for formatting of reports.  We also examined in the report Integration Toolkit to Jasper, but have only gotten it working on environmental Tomcat, WebLogic not.

I'm trying to download a classic report to PDF with our logo displayed in the header.  In the print attributes section, it has a header section.  I tried to add the following in the header section:

    < img src = " " http://HR.UNM.edu/common/images/unm_dept_logo.gif "> "

    No Logo print

    #APP_IMAGES #unm_dept_logo.gif

    Prints in the header:

    p_security_group_id=3930016164431413%26p_flow_id=106%26p_fname=unm_dept_logo.gif

    #WORKSPACE_IMAGES #unm_dept_logo.gif

    Header prints: /i/unm_dept_logo.gif

I also added the logo in the report area, before printing, columns, but no logo no downloads in PDF format.

The listener of the Apex is only render text?  Is it possible to get the logo to print in the header without using a third-party tool?  Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.  Thank you!

    Hello

There are different options to include images in your PDF exports. What is important to understand if it is with the exported PDF file of functionality that separate us the formatting of the actual data. So the formatting is defined in your RTF or XSL - FO models and the data is stored in the XML file that generates the APEX are based on your report data. We have several formatting options set out in the pages of printing attributes, i.e. you can set the page layout form, dimensions, colors, fonts, etc. - that are applied to what we call generic models of XSL - FO. These models are generic because they can be used with various reports, including the variable number of columns and the column variable names. Formatting attributes cannot be used but with models of named columns, such as those that you generate with BI Publisher or these third-party tools I mentioned in my Blog.

So if you want to use these formatting options, you need a generic report layout - which you get out of the box using the integrated provision. But you also have the ability to create your own layout of generic report (see-> presentations, shared components). When you create a custom generic report layout, you will get a copy of the layout that is integrated as a starting point. Once created, you can manually change this layout to meet your needs. When you change this model, you will find a number of #... chains of substitution #. That's what APEX uses the runtime to fill your formatting of the values as well as to assemble your generic provision based on your result set.

Now, a way to include your own picture would be to add a reference to image for this layout of generic report. You can not use the page header or attributes of footer to print page for this attributes as the rendering engine of FOP does not understand or translate HTML. It renders XSL - FO. Then to add your own reference image, you must use the supplement of XSL - FO. If you want to add an image to your page header, look for the #PAGE_HEADER substitution string # in the attribute "Page Template" of your generic report layout. You should be able to find the following:

    #PAGE_HEADER #.

Now, assuming you have a file that is stored in your local images directory on the local host, you can add the following external graphic reference:

    http://localhost:8080/i/cloud.gif' content-height = "scale-to-fit" height = "30px" content-width = "150px" scaling = "non-uniform" / >

    #PAGE_HEADER #.

Once you are done with your chanages, save the presentation of the report and modify your report. Go to the print attributes and select your generic report layout and then run your report page and export the PDF file. If the APEX is able to find this external reference image, it will be now included above your report in your PDF document.

    Kind regards
    Marc

  • Adobe PDF printing preferences problem

    pdf prefs.jpg

We have seven machines 64-bit Windows 7 with Adobe Pro XI (part of the Technical Communication Suite).  On the same machine, we are unable to change the settings Adobe PDF printing preferences for the following:

Adobe PDF security: it is grayed out and we cannot change. No selection is available in the menu dropdown.

To Adobe PDF file: while not gray and we are unable to change and no selection is available in the menu dropdown.  On other computers, it is listed as ' output PDF from Adobe:

What should we do this one computer, so that we can modify the two line items?

I removed the printer from the machine and took the repair function on Acrobat.  I changed the default settings: article several times.  Who has not solved the problem.  I suspect that it is perhaps a difference in the actual driver.  Any suggestions?

Log in as the local administrator of the machine.  This does not mean the network administrator account or the working group administrator account.  This means the owner/administrator of the local computer ( Log using built in administrator |) Create the local admin account. 7, 8, Windows Vista ).  You are able to access these features when logged in as the administrator of the local computer?  If Yes, then it is a probably correctable account permissions problem.  If not, then you have a machine permissions problem, which is more serious.

  • AppSync with shared network Thinapps

A few questions about Appsync with shared network applications.

I have 5 Windows XP systems that install everything to run the thinapp (Office 2007 Std) from the network share. In the package.ini I put the thinapp to check an update every time it launches, do not know if it is better, only to set it there so I could control the start of the update. I created a new version of my thinapp with some modifications, including activation of Powerpoint, which was not initially enabled. I then pushed the new version in the directory specified in AppSyncURL in the package.ini and then ran the thinapp one of 5 systems. I looked at the updated thinapp (via the new file in the directory creation) but it seems to be stopped once the new files have been copied, I assumed it was because the other guests were linking the same thinapp, so I closed the thinapp on all 5 systems and reopened on one, after a few minutes that the update has been completed, including the activation of PowerPoint. When I ran the thinapp on other systems of all the new changes came with the exception of PowerPoint being activated. I guess that's because the thinreg update portion was only executed on the original system which began the update. My reasoning is correct? Would be the best way to solve this problem, configure something in a login script or a GPO to re-run thinreg necessary?

Next part of surpass push to use thinapp was to save space, we intend to use it with VDI images gold hopfully have a SAN reduced foot print as migrate us our users in general for physical machines to VMS. Currently, we don't have a policy that requires users to disconnect during the night, normally when you deploy updates from traditional applications a message is sent by the app said the world team to make sure and disconnect. While we still might do in the future with thinapp hoping updates be more transparent for the user. But based on the above test it looks that updates will not fully applied to a set until all users are out of this.

While this logic sence I want to just make sure I'm not missing something, is there a better way to update the shared applications? Or I'll better just install them locally on the machine, possilbly as part of a gold statue.

    Hi Roybfr,

I want to share my knowledge on App Sync with the same example with which you asked the query. I will answer your questions in 2 sections. One for the process of AppSync and other for VDI computers desktop and thinapps residing on them.

    Section of AppSync: -.

    1. If you have desktop Thiinapped 2 k 7 kept one a network share and the version update of office 2 k 7 (which has been configured to enable the PowerPoint) stored on the Web server.

    2. you have 5 office machines.

3 suppose that you launch the thinapp 2 k 7 on the desktop sharing network 1.

    4. once launch you the thinapp 2 k 7 Desktop 1, appsync process is launched and the .ase files are named and has started, updated on the network share.

    5. in the middle of the appsync process which began by launching the 2 k 7 packet on the network share, stop the appsync process by closing the exe launched from Office 1.

    6. now launch the 2 k 7 on the network share from office 2. Once you launch the office 2 k 7 2 office package, AppSync process is started from when he was arrested and not from the beginning.

    7. let all to update completely .ase files until they become the size of thinapped version updated, maintained on the web server.

    8. now do not revive the thinapped 2 k 7 2 office package.

    9. If you launch the thinapped 2 k 7 exe on the network share from office 3 you will get the message to update Appsync (that you defined in the file package.ini) and now the version update of office 2 k 7 will be launched. This means that now the network share has the version update of office 2 k 7.

    10. now, if you launch the office 2 k 7 on the network share Desktop 4 and 5, you will get the updated office version.

11 but to get the same version of update to office 1 to disconnect, and then start the 2 k 7 packet on the network share

12 office 2 stimulus package on the network share and you'll get the version update of office 2 k 7

    Conclusion: -.

    1. AppSync can be initiated by the launch of the thianpp on the network sharing of any of desktop computers

    2. once the AppSync is completed, the new version will be available (.ase will be converted into the updated version .exe) by raising the exe thinapp on the network share from the Office where the Appsync initiated or simply launch the exe thinapp by the remaining workstations where the thinapp on the network share was never launched.

    3. the configuration you made on the updated version is maintained on the web server will not pulled / available on the network share if the appsync is successfully completed.

    4. If you want a specific configuration to be part of your update to Thinapp (which is stored on the web server, and pulled on the network share), you must use the "SbMerge" utility to make the configurations as version stored on the web server to update the part of you.

    5. Thus, create the updated version of the Thinapp, check the necessary configurations, apply overwhelm and rebuild the updated version of the thinapp. Then copy it to the web server. And then start the process of AppSync.

  • BAD PS/PDF print-out in case of special/on paper size/size measure

    Dear Apple developers Pages

We hardly found any new SW Version Apple Pages (after Version 4 / 09) EQ. Version 5.6 (2553) turn its PS/PDF-print output in the WRONG way.

Attention: This SW-error occurs ONLY in the case of paper special/custom size/format.

    IMPORTANT:
This problem does NOT occur on the old Apple Pages Version 4.x (iWork 09), but this error occurs on the all-new Version of Pages, including Version 5.6 (2553).

If you please FIX this errors. My customers can't any real Apple Pages SW deployment due to this error; and must still use the "old" Apple Pages Version 4.x

Please let me as soon as possible. know, when this error is resolved.

    Thank you very much!

    Patrik,

Use the application menu item Pages v5: provide Feedback Pages to communicate directly with the product Pages v5 team. Apple executives and engineering teams do not participate in this community of public support, users, and we are not Apple employees. And, like you, Apple don't share information, nor ask our opinion about the products.

I suggest you double check the parameters width and height in the middle of custom paper in the Pages to ensure that the values are not knocked over accidentally. In addition, make sure you have the latest drivers of the sellers of the printer installed that are compatible with the version of Mac OS X on your customers computers.

I used Pages v5 since it was initially published in 2013. I've never met a scenario where I submit content in portrait layout, and selection of the print/PDF offers orientation reversed, or bad PDF/PS output. I don't remember anyone in this community complaining about this before either.

I have a document of v5.6.2 of two pages which is letter portrait mode. I change the format of paper in a format customized which lies in a portrait, but much narrower layout. When I PDF/print/export to PDF, the content is in the new provision, and resembles that in v5.6.2 Pages.

  • Photosmart 7525e: print error message on the monitor, but PDF print OK

W10 64 bit Office current with Windows updates.

HP7525E connected via USB.  Current with updates from HP and exploit the full package of driver HP

When I click to print a PDF file, I get a message popup Windows that quickly disappears, but the part of the message says «Error printing...» «or ' unable to print on...» ».  But the page prints OK anyway.  I have today when it appeared has clicked to print a Groupon in mode 2-sided but also chose to print only the current "page (and in my opinion, there is only 1 page).  Do not print in color, btw.

A ran HP Print & doctor Scan that found no problems.

    Do not restart.

    Close the browser (Edge).

Launch of the new browser and returned to Groupon.

This time the same groupon (in monochrome) of printing simple face mode or mode 2 faces, that the error did not appear and the PDF printed fine as before.

I have seen the error several times before but have not been studied.  I know I saw him several times when printing PDF files.  I don't remember if I saw it when you print other things.

Completely uninstall Acrobat Reader on your system.  Now, go to Adobe and download and install Acrobat Reader DC.  Try now.
