• OfficeJet Pro X451dw (CN463A): updated the Firmware says X451dw "EC Firmware Updater does not contain updates for your device."

  I'm trying to update the firmware on my HP Officejet Pro X451dw (CN463A), but the firmware update fails with the error "This Firmware Updater does not contain updates for your device." More precisely:

  1. With the help of EWS, I confirmed that my current firmware is very old (it lists the firmware version of BWP1CN1315FR, which means 1315FR, right?, dating almost the time I bought the printer about 3 years ago).
  2. I downloaded the firmware ("OJP_X451dw_R1640A_updated.dmg") was last updated, copied 'HP Firmware Updater' in /Applications and then he ran.

  Am myself a brand new Mac Pro recently and I'm loving it. Hooked up to my old TB screen which is unused to cause a few months the all-in-one cable is broken. Not much, I bought a cable TB, and used only to plug it in and it works fine.

  • Slide the HOLD switch to the right (orange list).
  • Open a Windows Explorer on your PC.  Use my computer or [Windows key] + E.
  • Press and hold the REC button on your e200 while plugging in the USB cable.
  • The Sansa will specify "Welcome to Recovery Mode, type MSD."
  • On the PC, you will see a new device labeled 16 MB FORMAT.
  • Double-click this icon to open the reserved partition.  Yet once, DO NOT format using the available Windows command!
  • Right-click in this partition and select new folder.
  • Rename it sansa.fmt folder and you're ready!
  • With the help of remove it safely function (icon at the bottom of your screen in the taskbar), eject the Sansa.
  • Slide the HOLD switch to the left.

  I have a HP LJCP1025nw purchased on 9 November. I'm running on an iMac with OS10.6.

  Supplied with the printer firmware was 20100510. I was looking for being able to use airprint and I noticed that there is a more recent firmware upgrade that allowed this (version 20110826). I downloaded the HP Firmware upgrade tool and he ran. They gave me a message that the firmware upgrade did not and I should power cycle the printer, I did several times. The printer is now insensitive (with the orange! lit constantly). I have uninstalled/reinstalled the utility software of HP but the printer has remained unresponsive.   Hold the phone! I found a utility TFTP which is written for Mac OS and is specifically designed to manage devices that require a password: MacTFTP Client 1.2 of MacTechnologies Consulting (shareware; $12 after 30 days trial). It worked perfectly, and I finally managed to update the firmware.

  BTW, the other two solutions I found by Googling "tftp linksys mac" (without the quotation marks) were remove the password in the router configuration pages, or add the password (as well as some other verbiage) at the end of the TFTP 'put' control, but none of those that worked for me.

  Maybe it's the same problem, I've had a few years on a Z2100.  Updated the firmware and the printer would not restart.  Reinstall from cable to the screen, and everything came back OK.

  I printed off manual and found an obscure reference to Web pages only work with IE and Netscape and so given my previous issues with Firefox I looked up an old install of Netscape and hey presto the update worked first - didn't even have to reset the router! :-)

  I hope can be useful to someone else at somepoint.

  PS. I know this is a 'reasonably' old router by today's standards, but I question what type of programming is sitting behind the pages that it only works with IE & Netscape! I realize that you cannot predict what are the browsers will be used in the future, but come on!
