  2. so that the DR site facing up and running within 60 seconds, it still requires too much time to restore the database on remote site and have archive APPLIED setpoint

  Great topic, I'll try to summarize all this in a post.

  I have worked with HP EVA for a few years and I must say that I have used many of the features of replication - HP EVA Business Copy (local replication) and HP EVA continues access (remote replication) as well - for the oracle database and other applications as well. Most storage systems use copy-on-write to create two points in time of the LUN (snapshot) image or clone LUN using cow again.

  Of course, like other people, said earlier the replication SAN is block based, in the same way with Dataguard, you have synchronous and asynchronous replication. When your data is written to the data files it usually goes in storage cache and then is pushed down the disc as soon as it will be more efficient, at the same point, replication is pushing data to the Dominican Republic. The same way with Dataguard if you use synchronous replication that you won't get you "speedy return" until the blocks of primary storage has been written for DR storage system.

  I never had problems with replication to be honest. I used a lot of copy of databases of production using local replication. For example if you want to quickly test a patch on the production system, you can create a snapshot that will only increase with the amount of changes you have made. The only concern is nowadays though we use ASM so if your diskgroup names are the same in DEV that the PROD does not work the approach that I mention.

  Regarding remote replication - because you do not have Dataguard more every time you failover to the Dominican Republic to your database will pass by instance recovery!

  Regardless of the type of replication is not the speed but the latency of the network - SAN or Dataguard, you will always have a penalty of a long replication distance. The biggest typical WAN latency factor is the speed of light, via fiber optic cable, which is about 124 miles per millisecond. Based on that you can calculate what would be the round-trip latency time.

  Indeed for many people SE installation choose DBvisit Standby to manage their databases on hold. I did the installation of the couple and it is really simple and works out of the box. However, your RPO depends on how often you switch your redologs and how many times you ship them to the backup site. You must configure dbvisit to spend with each log file (all the 5,10,15 minutes) OR configure archive_lag_target to configure OR use both at the same time. Also, you can store a copy of the archivelogs on a separate location just in case, for example, an NFS share.

  And finally my five cents on RAC on Clusters of extended - be careful with this one. Each of the nodes in the extended database cluster need access to both storage (primary and DR) systems. You must also third location to store a voting quorum disk, usually an NFS share. It is also very important to note that the latency between the nodes is of crucial importance due to global cache activity.

• Slow MacBook Pro

  Hi, I have an Early 2011 MacBook Pro that has been very slow in the past two years. The computer is still usable and I use it every day, but I want to fix the problem.

  I thought that this could be a RAM problem, so I bought new Rams from different brands, but none of them worked (I read online that Apple computers can be a little picky when it comes to brands of RAM).

  I am currently based in the Dominican Republic, where it is very difficult to find an Apple Retail Store or a person capable and authorized to perform a repair on my MacBook Pro. I'll be back in Italy in October, and I'll get assistance here. My question is: I think that my computer needs new RAM (I currently have installed 2x2gb and I would install 2 x 4 GB), but it is possible that there is something else I need to know? Maybe the problem somewhere else? I scanned the computer several times and nothing came. I would like to know if there is a way for me to make sure that the RAM is the real problem and not something else. I know that I am the owner of an old computer, but it never gave me any problems in addition to be very slow in the past two years. Sometimes it works perfectly, and sometimes it's almost impossible to do anything.

  First of all, I'm a big fan of the Beats by Dre brand and what it represents. I take the time to write this letter because I really like the brand. Unfortunately, these last months 4-5 has been disappointing and frustrating. A bit of background about myself and using my headphones; I am model represented by Wilhelmina fitness. That being said I have spend a considerable amount of time at the gym. I am what you call a "gym rat". I work 5-6 days a week in most cases twice a day. My family bought me the bat 2 Power because they thought that this will be the best helmet mount my lifestyle. I have used the Dre Beats in the past and loved it! I was super hyped when I received as a gift. Since then, I had problem with my 2 power of bat for the last two months and I had to replace three times already. The customer service was excellent and very useful in the replacement process. They also said that the replacements came directly from the Assembly line. The response time for me was recently, when I was in the Dominican Republic on vacation for three weeks and my 2 power of bat just stop functioning and load in half way through my first week. If the rest of my two weeks of work in a foreign country, I didn't have any headphones. I was so angry!  For me it came to the point where I need a product that I could really count to meet my needs in the gym or travel. I hope that this message might be of some use to help future customers that may encounter this problem.

• Tecra M1 wireless connection problem

  We have a kind of inherited a Tecra m1, we tried to use wireless to connect to the internet.

  First I tried with the sky, the laptop does not accept the digits of the password, it says it must be 13 characters etc, can add this info if you need it, so don't come in line with that at all. We tried to connect with my computer laptop girls and it works with his own, more I went through the process of verification of the modem with the sky, which was all fine and they said back to Toshiba.

  Then I tried the aol connection, with this is accepted my password and it shows it is connected to aol, wireless, but you can't get on the internet when you use Dr. connectivity, its said something on the browser settings, this is where I'm stuck!

  I can take notes tonight all the information required of the laptop to the Dominican Republic of connectivity, if anyone can help please...

  First of all, you must make sure that your WLan router is correctly configured.
  I put t know if you use a Mac address swim, but for the first time, you must disable it before you haven t establish the WiFi connection.

  Second, you must check you WLan encryption settings.
  If you use an encryption that is not supported by the wireless network adapter, then you will not be able to connect to the WLan router!

  So please check the type of encryption on the router and check if the WLan card supports this also!

  Usually it s advisable to disable all the security settings on the router, then test the WLan connection. If you will be able to connect to the internet, then you can activate all the security settings step by step

  I really want to buy a Moto G 2nd generation and I just need something to empty. On various sites, I saw that it supports the 3 G 900 Mhz band in the global Version of the phone, but here in the Motorola Web site it lists only the frequency bands of the American version. I need to make sure that overall version does indeed support the 900 Mhz band, so I can ensure that my operator (Orange Dominicana) only use the band for 3G.

• OfficeJet 6600: HP Officejet prints 6600 pages of test, but USB connected or wireless - does not print anything

  For some reason any my printer has ceased to be able to print anything at all, since last night at 7-8 so far, I've been able to print perfectly well.

  It is connected wireless (and on the home network and the IP address), but whether or not it is wireless (USB) - nothing will be printed at all.

  Have tried everything imaginable... uninstalled and reinstalled all HP 3 or 4 times now, various attempted fixes via the online help, nothing works. Have unplugged router printer 30 s, unplugged 30s, you name it.

  It allows to print in-house, however, no problem. Print a test - perfectly fine page, print a network test page - perfectly well. Clear print heads... everything comes out clear.

  Spotted an error prompt "spooler subsystem app not working not"... so found this page online (https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/460f297a-dd66-4476-a176-542e1519ca3e/fixed... and thought it was the miracle solution - nope, still doesn't.)

  Followed the steps detailed here: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Inkjet-Printing/HP-6600-won-t-print-wirelessly/td-p/4649292 - the link to the HP Print & Scan Dominican Republic by the way, is a dead link now... but I have tracked down the appropriate page and run the software. After following it exactly as I had to... I get this result:

  "There is a problem with your software which can not be repaired by this tool. Remove the software by clicking 'uninstall '. Reinstall the software with the product CD or by downloading the latest features full software from HP Customer Care. "- so in other words... I am told to do exactly what I've already done 3 or 4 times.

  It's driving me crazy... and do not understand why it will not print.

  I hope someone here can help... because it's completely maddening.

  By coincidence, my grandson has me bought a new computer earlier in the month. and it arrived yesterday afternoon, a Lenovo all-in-One ThinkCentre w/Windows 7 - and after it he installed there, the printer printed fine from the computer.

  But, just in case it is needed, and because the advice was here, I thought I'd try the options.

  Unfortunately, I can't do a level 3 uninstall with the two methods provided. Method never showed a "util" folder or 'utility', both had a "utils" folder, and no method showed a record of "ccc". Also, by downloading the software, then go into the temporary folder through the search from the Start Menu, 3 sets of disc records came - and such that mentioned, none had the util/utility folder (all "utils" still had once) - and yet, none of them had a folder 'ccc '.

  My grandson theory was that something is likely messed up in the registry, and he doesn't dare touch it without knowing what it does - than a reformat or something registry editting and knowing exactly what they're doig - would be the best choice, but rather of your time and... almost useless with the new computer capable of printing. A friend IT very well educated friends, also backed up his theory...

  So, I have to wonder... don't you think it's worth, the Dungeon of combat with the old Gateway/Vista PC, or simply move to the new Lenovo/Windows 7 and cause less stress for us all? Haha!

  Hi, I bought an ideapad y410p of the Web page and it was delivered to a member of the family, so she could bring here in the Dominican Republic where I live... But to my surprise it didn't have the operating system installed, when I turned on it, he said that windows has not been properly installed and that I could try again... because it did not come with any CD of I don't know how install windows... it was supposed to be 8.1 windows 64-bit... And they offer no support here since I bought it online in the United States... Is it possible that I can download the windows from anywhere to install it myself... ??

  First of all, try to download the hardware maintenance manual and the guide of the user of this link. Read them and to focus in particular on a key recovery program. Your computer has the operating system stored on the hard disk, including the product id number that is stored in the bios. After reading their power off the unit, if it is always 'on '.
