No, it isn't. However, if you have the Ati drivers on the list, don't disable them.

Hello;
Let me welcome you on the HP forums!
I read your post about the problem of Catalyst Control Center and wanted to help.
Is this an update of driver that has been installed by HP Support Assistant?
Or (more likely) you go to AMD and download yourself?
Because if the latter, which was a big mistake! Laptops come with specialized equipment for which the drivers are delivered only by OEM - in this case, HP.
What you need to do is the following:
(1) download and run this utility AMD to remove AMD drivers you installed: utility uninstall own AMD
2) go to this HP Product Page and download the AMD drivers and install THOSE: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-Pavilion-g6-Notebook-PC-series/5262606/model/5293908
After that, you should be OK.
And stay away from downloading drivers from the Internet for your laptop.
Good luck
I'm a volunteer and I do not work for, or represent, HP.

Reinstall required for ATI Catalyst Control Center after the upgrade to Windows 8
Updated my HP Pavilion dv7 - 70232cl to Windows 8. I don't have any problems during the upgrade. Now I'm asked to reinstall ATI Catalyst Control Center. The message says that my version of ATI Catalyst Control Center is not compatible with this version of Windows. Y at - it a patch for this problem that I can download? Thanks, jk-3003
And the AMD Catalyst Control Center depends on .NET 3.5 installed first, otherwise it will not install.
Launch Control Panel, select programs, click programs and features, and then click on "Turn Windows features on or off".
Check the first box - .NET Framework 3.5 (included .NET 2.0 and 3.0)
Make sure you are connected to the internet, because you may have to download files from Ms.
Once this is done install your driver AMD should be fine

ATI Catalyst Install Manager and Catalyst Control Center help
I just run the Windows 7 upgrade
report from the consultant and he said that I have to uninstall the ATI Catalyst Install Manager and Catalyst Control Center and then reinstall after upgrade...
Could someone direct me to where I could t find these programs for Windows 7
You should not do this. Just proceed with the upgrade installation.
On my Satellite, I got the same message, but I just kept with upgrade.
At the end everything went well. -
Satellite L840/020 - need to re - install ATI Catalyst Control Center win 8
I get a message from the program compatibility Wizard the I need to reinstall ATI Catalyst Control Center.
I went to their website and it said computers laptop Toshiba would need to get this information from Toshiba.
I can't find this download. My graphics card is the Radeon of AMD 7670 M
Satellite L840/020
Reference No.. PSK8LA-020007
Windows 8 Pro 64 bitIt of Australian model for Toshiba laptop.
Therefore, you should find these drivers on the support page for the Toshiba driver to THE:
http://www.MyToshiba.com.au/support/download -
My laptop is the dv7t-6 c 00 Quad and I just installed the version of Windows8 Pro (I am a member of MSDN Developer).
Everything went fine EXCEPT the ATI Catalyst Control Center does NOT work. I tried to reinstall the graphics driver (sp55098.exe), but it won't work because it does not "meet the minimum requirements" (which I assume means that it has not been updated to handle Windows8.
The result is that my system has become unstable. I guess that's because the control center would deal with switching between low power and high power/performance chipsets. I noticed that this change can occur on the fly and seems to have with a web browser (Internet Explorer).
It's REALLY BAD, because it crashes my system.
Please respond and tell me that there is a SOLUTION NOW!
* Notes: I tried to launch Catalyst Control Center and get this message, "Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no parameters that can be configured using Catalyst Control Center". AAARGH!

It's the definitive answer to AMD. HP must deliver the updated for my portable operarting under Windows8 Catalyst drivers. I hope it will be soon. In fact, I'd be happy to beta test.
Here is the answer from AMD:
Dear Thomas,
Your service request: SR #{ticketno: [8200508926]} has been reviewed and updated.
History of application of Service and response:
As AMD only provides the reference for laptops drivers (provided as-is with limited support), sometimes our software is not compatible because changes made to the graphics card from the laptop manufacturer to improve stability and performance in the laptop. The error you receive indicates that the Radeon card in your laptop is incompatible with our drivers, since the manufacturer of your laptop has changed the Radeon card enough such that our drivers will work with your product. As such, you will need to contact HP for pilots and support to download and install. We will have all the drivers for your system that will be compatible, you will be forced to go with HP. We apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

HP program installation doesn't install Catalyst Control Center.
Hello.
I have a HP g6 - 2324TX with a 4 DDR3 8 DDR3 Windows 8 upgrade
Catalyst Control Center had recently stoped working, and my computer was basically killed himself, so I used the restore option in the options to start making a new installation of windows. It would have been perfect for my same situaution but it has not installed the Catalyst Control Center. Now, I'm pretty experienced with PC and know my way around them well... But it got me in trouble.
To solve my problem, I tried the following.
-Download the AMD drivers from their site, but it does not work on the number that it needs drivers HP. The CCC has not just run.
-Download HP drivers on their website, the instalation was good up until when I rebooted it was not installed from CCC.
-J' tried to install the HP drivers and then installing the CCC to AMD, but it still doesn't work.
-J' tried looking for a solution on the internet, such as... Make sure that my C:\User folder is not hidden.
I would also like to note that the relocation with a startup disk is not an option.
That's all that I remember of trying, I'm a gamer so Switchable graphics is Important.
Wish a quick response.
Specifacations:
-Windows 8 x 64
-Intel (R) Core i5-3230 CPU 2.60 Ghz Duel Core
-8.00 GB of Ram DDR3 (7.89 usable)
-Intel(r) HD Graphics 4000
-Radeon (TM) HD 7670M

Download the softpaq to download driver HP portal section AMD graphics driver web support for your laptop. Double-click the downloaded softpaq. It will install the driver AMD, Catalyst Control Center and driver Intel.
Do not install the Intel graphics driver separately. This will stop the switchable graphics feature can be used.
Do not install the graphics drivers Intel or AMD. The drivers from the manufacturer are not to conform to the switchable graphics feature. This is why they do not work. Install graphics HP drivers only if you want the feature to function.

I have upgraded to windows 8, message received for re - install Catalyst control center drivers AMD Radeon switchable graphics.
I tried the Hp Web site to find drivers, but failed, AMD did not have the drivers. What should do?

That HP have not yet released the AMD Setup you need, you could try the switchable graphics avaiable to measure on the following link - I suggest that you read the guide on how to install these drivers correctly. I uninstalled Catalyst Control Centre, where it took place, it kept blowing - rises, saying it had stopped working. I also read somewhere (not Wikipedia) the Catalyst Control Center was a virus so I uninstalled, which uninstalled a few things related to it one of them my video card I understand now manages the screen resolution, colors, my customization in Chrome color settings, and many other features which I'm just discovering. She brought to the resolution of the screen on my laptop (much it zooms) and reset all my customizations of color to the standard that I hate. I wonder if I have to reset my computer to an earlier date, or if I have to download a new video card. I downloaded the Catalyst Control Center and what came with it but nothing has changed now, options in the control panel > appearance and personalization are missing which is what I used to make my settings and where it let me normally the change of colors (I picked red) are all gone. The screen resolution is still a little low (which means its still slightly zoomed in) in what she was before, and how I liked it, but at least I can still do what I have to (I use this computer mostly for Facebook and games my whole life revolves around both of them, for me so it is essential that this problem may not seem like a large face you (, but for me it is!) So should I reset my computer to an earlier date or download something or what. Help me please. If I have to do a system restore could someone please tell me how or where to go?

Catalyst Control Center has stopped working
Downloaded a virus, ran malwarebytes and microsoft security essentials. After starting a message that Catalyst Control Center host app has stopped working.
Hi StephanieHillman,
· Not Malwarebytes and Microsoft Security Essentials has removed the virus from your computer?
Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:
Method 1: If you want Catalyst Control Center application on your computer, and then visit the official website of AMD and download the Catalyst Control Center tool.
Method 2: If you do not want this application you put the computer in a clean boot state and disable some startup items.

My computer is screwed. I suspect a virus called the Catalyst Control Center.
My screen is black, all my icons disappeared and my computer is very slow. I get a message titled "Catalyst Control Center, your application has stopped working". I read in this forum that all I had to do was change my hidden catalyst control center to no hidden. I did it. My catalyst control centre is spelled in America. The message I get is spelled in British English. What should I do? I'm being attacked by a virus that my recently updated Anti-malware can't catch?

ATI catalyst control center update for hd 7670 (mobility)
Hello people I recently bought a HP Ppavilion g6 x 2014 book with and graphics card Radeon hd 7670 m now I want to update its drivers to the Catalyst Control Center latest! How to do this and is it drivers of mobility may be able to get the update? Please help me! and if not why isn't HP releasing new updates for these ati cards
I understand that you want to update your AMD drivers.
It seems that the t can be absent from g6-2014tx. What is your laptop? In General, the AMD driver can be placed on the provided HP driver. It should work with switchable graphics systems and for systems that have no switchable graphics.
An important note about updating the driver and graphic systems switchable. If your laptop comes with switchable graphics, do NOT uninstall any HP video card driver. This could lead to the switchable graphics system become corrupted, requiring a full recovery to solve the problem. Drivers can be installed the driver from HP.
A second note is to make sure that .NET Framework 4.0 is installed. This can be checked in programs and features, or by installing it manually to be sure, it is installed. If you need this, it can be found here.
Instead of download the portable version of the driver, don't forget to download the desktop version of the driver. The pilot will include desktop and mobile versions in a single package. The latest version as of today can be found here.
During the installation of the driver, be sure to choose custom install instead of car or express. If you choose custom, you will be able to see a list of all the drivers and software that will be installed. If display driver and Catalyst Control Center is listed, then you should be good to proceed with the installation.
Let me know if that answers your question.

T400, cannot start the Catalyst Control Center - error 'GPU active not supported'.
on a machine running vista business 64-bit current t400.
last week all was hunky dory. This week, when I try to open my ati catalyst (CCC) control center, I have the following error:
"ATI catalyst control center cannot be started because the active gpu is not managed.
I read a few posts on this problem from not using the ATI graphics card and being rather on the integrated graphics card. indicate the positions I could reactivate CCC simply by clicking on the battery icon in the system tray and selecting "mode high performance" to force the machine to use the discreet graphics card. After I do and then try to start the CCC, I get the same error as above. at this point after switching to the mode high peformance, my device manager also lists "mobile Intel (r) 4 series express chipset family ' as my graphics again. If I have left or right click on the battery icon in the status bar, I don't see any options for explicitly switching cards.
the card driver intel 4 mobile is listed as being from ATI to version 8.520.4.4000.
I'm not sure of my version of the driver for the ATI card. and I don't know where to look for it.
to my knowledge, nothing but a number of 'critical' windows updates have changed on my system between the time when CCC was working last week now.
any suggestions on how to fix this? and what it does to stop working?
Thanks in advance for any help.
I finally thought to it. and no new drivers or relocations were necessary. at the end of the day, all I had to do was turn on version lenovo Power Manager (which appear in my taskbar like a horizontal green battery with the number of minutes of use remaining). from there I can left click and access the menu that has the switchable graphics option where I can choose the economy of energy or high performance. If a from there, I select high performance, I can then open CCC.
the important thing please note this is to access this menu, you must be using power management program of LENOVO thinkVantage (sticking the Green battery on your taskbar icon), NOT windows built in the power manager, which appears as a vertical grey/blue /? battery in the tray system (at least on mine). Once you have, you can explicitly pass the graphics cards.
the strange thing is, I had been accessing CCC without explicitly switching the cards without problem until last week. so in a way that the default setting should of spent high-performance energy saving, thus putting me on the integrated graphic card unless I went it manually. weird.
slide, thank you for your help. I appreciate it. and it is an interesting note on freeing more memory by disabling the switchable graphics. I'll probably this give it a shot and see how I like it. memory is never bad!
Thanks again to everyone who helped.
