Shows printer connected locally as offline on Windows 7

Hello.

I downloaded the latest drivers and tried all the usb ports on my laptop. However, the printer can not connect and does not 'online '. The USB ports are all working well.
How can I change from 'online' to the ' offline '?
It will be a case of the cable being spoilt?
Yours sincerely,

Hello

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

You may experience an error in offline mode, if you have activated the offline of your network printer. More recent printers come with a built-in button that activates the offline mode. If you have pressed this button, you printer goes offline. You can also face a printer offline error, if you do not connect the printer correctly. If you must check whether the cables and connectors you used to connect to the printer are firmly in place.

  • Canon printer MX410 constantly goes offline on Windows 8

    Hello

My Lenova Ideapad Z580 constantly 'loses' the shared wireless printer.  The only solution I have is to uninstall the driver, and then reinstall the driver to 'find' it on the network again.  Any reboots causes this to happen, but is found also at random times when the laptop has not been turned off.  We even reset the printer and then re-installed on the network in the event that something had changed there.  None of the other laptops in our House (using various platforms) has this problem, so I have to assume that there is an error in Windows 8.
I've had this laptop in April 2013, but this problem did not begin until July 2013, I think that an update may be the culprit.
Is this a known problem and is there a fix permanent, that I can use?  Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Locally connected printer show offline on Windows 7 network after working initially

OK, have you checked similar discussions which has no successful response.

I have a PC with Epson printer connect directly via USB. Printer driver installed correctly.  Works very well.

Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) no warranty other than windows firewall and microsoft security essential.

Laptop connected wireless to PC.  On the same network and homegroup, file and media sharing, all works well.

Laptop running Windows 7 Ultimate (32 bit) even PC security.

When I add a network printer, find the printer on the PC and properly installs driver etc.  Printer appears in the devices and allows to print the first two times.

However, the next day the network printer is 'offline' in the spooler to print on the laptop.  The documents simply stack up.

The PC doesn't go to sleep and is left on all the time except for the screen is turned off.  Printer works fine on PC, indeed with the docs stuck on the laptop I can always print directly from the PC - even if it does not appear the printer to be online on the laptop.

Having checked that the spooler printer on the laptop is running and set to automatic.

Epson impossible / wants to help - have found a similar thread with no response - everyone all guess what to try?

    Thank you very much

I had a similar problem and for me, the problem is with the EPSON driver.

My printer is connected wireless to my network, I got the IP address and could he ping but WIN 7 it showed off line.

Then, I went and took a look at the printer driver (chosen to start, devices and printer, the epson printer then under management of the printer, printer to customize, ports then configure port)

And I noticed that for the Standard TCP/IP Port it was pointing to a different IP address than the one that my printer was currently. I edited it to match what the printer was and he came online.

When you turn off the printer, its IP address back in your pool of routers to be reallocated.

The windows driver Epson still has the old IP. You turn on your printer and your router can give it an IP address that is different from last time. Now, it doesn't match with what the stored before Epson driver and you says it's offline.

For me, rather than change the IP address in the driver whenever it happened that I assigned an IP (fixed host) in my router based on my printers MAC address. In this way he always give my printer every time the same address and is no longer false messages offline appears under Windows.

It is a driver problem Epson, not a windows problem.

  • Missing/biased impressions & printer offline on Windows 8/8.1

    Hello community!

    I came across a problem with certain printers HP and Windows 8 8.1 operating system. Here are a few common questions that will focus on the steps of troubleshooting in this thread;

    • Printer offline
    • Printer cannot print multiple-page documents
    • Printer prints a test page, but not sent documents
    • Printer stop printing in the middle of a print job

With the help of JonW and his instructions, I tried to compile a post for this number beginning with a functional work around.

First of all - there are some windows updates that can help with this problem.

    (1) install this patch from Microsoft to ensure that this problem of private-public-private network do not recur. It belongs to the April 2014 package Update for Windows 8.1 and Server2012 R2 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355).

    (2) install this patch from Microsoft for the WSD service.  http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/3000461

If this is not enough, then please follow the list of steps below that will give you a workaround solution that can help with this problem.

The printer of the assign a static IP address

An IP address is an address of Internet network that the computer can use to communicate with the printer. Enter a static IP address to make sure that the wireless connection remains stable. Follow these steps to assign a static IP address to the printer.

    • Download the printer IP address.
      • Press the button on the Control Panel printer wireless to view network settings.
      • Access the menu of network on the printer control panel.
      • Print a page of the Network Configuration Page or test wireless report.
    • Once you have the IP address of the printer, open a new web browser window or tab.
    • Type the IP address in the address bar of your web browser and press ENTER.

Make sure that you type the IP address in the browser address box. If you type in a search tool bar area, the SAP does not open.

    • If the "There is a problem with the website's security certificate" message in the web browser when you try to open the built-in web server (EWS), or as you navigate through the integrated Web server, click on ' continue to this website (not recommended) "."

    Note:

Choose ' continue to this website (not recommended) "will not hurt your computer while navigate it the Web built-in to your printer server. If you encounter this error outside EWS of your printer, your computer might be at risk.

"If the browser cannot open the integrated Web server, after you have clicked on ' continue to this website (not recommended)", refresh the browser window.

(EWS) built-in Web server for the printer opens and confirms that the printer is on the same network as the computer.

    • In the EWS, click the network tab.
    • In the Wireless section, click on the configuration of network (IP) address or IPv6, depending on your network configuration.
    • Manuel IP-click and then click on suggest a manual IP address. An IP address manually, the subnet mask and default gateway shows.
    • Once filled with the IP address manually, click the DNS server manually.

    Note:

Keep a record of the manual IP address for reference.

    • On the Page of Network Configuration that you printed earlier, locate the addresses of DNS server, type the DNS address in the preferred DNS server and DNS server auxiliary manual manual fields and then click on apply.

If the DNS addresses are not listed on the Network Configuration Page, or if you have difficulties to access the network or the Internet with the original DNS addresses, use one of the following methods to obtain the DNS addresses.

    • Method: use the public DNS server addresses

Configuration of the printer using the publicly accessible DNS server addresses. To find available DNS server addresses, search online for "the public DNS servers.

After finding the public DNS server addresses, type the addresses in the preferred DNS server and DNS server auxiliary manual manual fields, and then click on apply.

    • Method 2: obtain the network DNS information via your computer

    • Print a test page to make sure that the IP address of the printer is him even that you have assigned.
    • Click on the Start button () or the lower left corner of the screen, click Find, type HP, click your printer in the results. Click utilities, and then click Update IP address to update the address in the software.

Add a wireless network printer using the control panel

Go to control panel and choose devices and printers

    Click on add a printer

The PC will find the local network and display network printers.

Select the printer and click Next

The system will try and auto select a compatible driver

Select the current driver and click Next

The system will then ask you a name for the printer. The user can change the name, and then click Next

The user can then choose to share the printer

The user may choose to make this new default printer, and then click Finish.

The new printer is now configured, but this printer will use the driver in OS (class) instead of the full function of HP driver.

To change the printer using the HP driver full function follow the instructions below. I recommend you replace the driver HP driver full function that the user can then use features such as custom paper sizes.

Return to the control panel and select devices and printers, right-click on the newly created printer and select printer properties

    Choose the Advanced tab

Click the driver set and choose the printer driver has no driver class of words after it.

Click on apply and then OK and the driver will be changed to the driver for the HP printer full function.

The user should try this configuration and see if they still have problems.

Printing should not be a problem more. Please let me know your back feed, and if these measures have helped.

    Good luck and good impression.

    See you soon,.

    Hi pixystixy99,

Try to access the printer from devices and printers properties. When you open the printer on the Office Assistant, it opens printing options, which does not change the driver.

    Hello

Each router is assigned to the specific address (called IP address or IP address). And each router maintains its own database (called as base of router) to follow the networking devices communicate with him. When the router is changed, the particular router is unable to detect the device, especially the network card to communicate with the computer.  Since he does not have details of the database of network devices, communicate with him.

  • Unable to connect to a printer Brother MFC - 240 c to Windows 7 computer network

The computer of my network which is connected directly to the internet and my router is a computer running Windows Vista (32 bit). My computer is connected through the network to access the internet and the printer connected to the computer base. My computer was also under Vista and networking has worked well.

I installed Windows 7 (64-bit, not by choice, done automatically) on my computer and now I can't connect to the printer on the Vista machine. I can access the internet (even if it is significantly slower than when I had vista) and on basic computer file sharing, but I can not configure the printer. The printer is a Brother MFC - 240 c
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

I'm assuming you get an error indicating that the print driver for 64-bit is not installed in the Vista machine.  You can either install a 64-bit driver that has the same name as the x 86 driver on the Win7 machine printing and reattempt the connection, install the 64-bit driver that has the same name on the Vista computer (for other 64-bit machines), but it's more difficult.

Alternatively, you can set the machine to check Windows Update for a printer driver that has the same name as the 32-bit print driver.  If gpedit.mcs run for the version of Windows you have.

  • Windows 7 can not find .inf driver for Canon Pixma iP4000 printer connected to Windows XP.

I have a laptop running Windows 7 (64-bit machine) I want to print from.  The laptop is on a home network wireless.  The office is wireless as well and is running Windows XP.  The Office has a Canon Pixma iP4000 printer connected with a parallel cable.  I installed the latest XP drivers for the printer on the desktop.  The laptop can connect directly to the printer with a USB cable and drivers will download automatically and it will print correctly.  However, I can't connect the printer using the wireless system.  I can go on the laptop to the home network and navigate to the printer and try to install.  It makes an automatic search and says that it cannot find the correct drivers.  I can browse to the file to install on my desktop, but it of an .exe file and not. INF.  I run the .exe file and it installs too, but Setup of printer on the laptop won't let me not by the .inf screen add to complete the installation of a wireless printer.

    Any suggestions?

Very probably the XP driver name is different from the name of 64-bit driver.  Create a Local Port which copies the data to the print size in Windows 7.

Here is an article knowledge base how to the names of the incompatible drivers.  Replace the Windows 7 machine for NT4 machine referenced in the article.

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/282842

If you load the printer driver 32-bit on your 64-bit computer, you need the 32-bit driver for Windows 7.  You can do if you have a 32-bit computer of Windows 7 on the network to push pilots up to the machine that is sharing the printer.  None are flat files on the Windows 7 DVD, you need to install the OS or mount the ISO.

The key to successful sharing between computers that run different printing architecture processors is pilot name.  PCL6 equal NOT PCL 6.
