shutdown VMs test when failure of datacenter

Hello

Let's say we have 6 esx hosts in a cluster with ha + drs.

3 guests are datacenter1 and 3 guests in datacenter2.

SMV production onto 3 guests, so there is enough capacity for a failover of datacenter.

now, we would like to use the available space remaining to test virtual machines and when there is a data center failure (i.e. 3 hosts are down), I would like to have the VMs test automatically put out of service and make the room for the production of virtual machines whose surviving restarting by HA on the site.

So my question is: How can it be done?

I guess that is not possible with the "builtin" feature, so perhaps someone does a smart script that can detect the number of active host or datacenter failure and computers stop trigger virtual tests!

concerning

Roland

Are you able to put all the VMS to Test in a folder, for example TestVMs?

Then, you can use the following command to PowerCLI to stop all the virtual machines in the TestVMs folder.

Get-VM-location TestVMs | Stop-VM

If your folder structure does not allow for this, are all the Test virtual machines in there data store (s) clean with none of the Production virtual machines, you can use

Get - VM - Datastore TestVMDataStore | Stop-VM

Little tricky is going to be automate the triggering of the command to execute. Do you have any server monitoring tools?

  • Export to HTML for the Live Online Test - when another site is already online.

I have a current site online - created in the older version of Muse.

I'm developing another site - in 2014 Muse of CC - and want to put it online to test and see how it works on the net.

Is it possible to export my new website and put it online with a different extension of the URL, while keeping my old direct site?

I don't want to have to take down my old site to test it live on the net.

    Can I export to HTML with a URL like this... http://www.helpexamples.com/test . . ?

If so, where would I put it on my Web server provider space while he does ' t get confused with my current site?

    Thank you

  • For the Boolean result of a numerical limit test success/failure

    Hello

    Requirement

My main sequence, I would like to call a subsequence of steps. If one of these tests in the subsequence fails, the main sequence must ignore all remaining events for this object to be measured.

    Plan

I intend to have the subsequence return a Boolean flag in the main sequence, which would check this flag and jump to the group stage of cleaning if necessary. Most subsequence of testing is performed in a loop, so I thought of this approach:

    bool allPassed = true;
    foreach (itemsToTest) {
        allPassed = allPassed && currentTestResult;
    }

    return allPassed;

    Question

It's easy to do with a pass/fail test, I couldn't find a way to get the Boolean result of a numerical limit test.

    Questions

    1. Is there a way to get this Boolean result?
    2. Is there a better way to meet my needs?

    Thank you!

Using the Post Actions would be so much easier.  You can configure the sequence to do various things in failure, including a step you specify (that is, cleaning).

  • How to detect the State of a LabVIEW test success/failure

Which variable TestStand should I read to determine the State of a test of TestStand set success/failure?

I use the parallel model and LabVIEW can see index of my process with the variable "RunState.TestSockets.MyIndex", but now the LabVIEW needs to know if this process was successful or failed the entire test.

Possible, recommended to capture those (so do not use the "built-in controls visible TS') is to capture the UIMsg_EndExecution (which is generaated automatically if the engine ends an execution).

This message to user interface, you can access its data, one being the property of Execution.ResultStatus and execution.

See using TS for the possible values of ResultStatus. This allows to control indicators on your UI.

    hope this helps,

  • Error code 200020 after self-test when chassis turns off

    Hello

This may seem absurd, but I accidentally ran a self-test to the MAX on one of the NI PXI boards (6533) in my chassis (NI 1042 q) when chassis power was off. He returned with an error code of 200020. The same thing has happened with three other NI PXI boards: 6723 6713 and 6221. I turned on the chassis and the same error code occurred. Then I restarted my computer, responsible for MAX, and no devices were found even more.

I followed the steps here to reset MAX, as well as the devices were recognized again, all the self-tests have passed again.

However, I am concerned as to why it happened. Why the error code keep occurring after that I turned on the chassis? Why MAX ceased to recognize my devices? Something is screwed up when I tried to connect with an off camera? In addition, what does error code 200020? I couldn't find documentation about it anywhere.

    Thank you

    Hey,.

From your description, it seems that you disable the chassis when the PC is still on. This will cause certainly some problems with your PXI devices, because you're basically hot-swapping PXI devices in your system. This may have also messed up things in MAX, as you saw. You should always have your PXI chassis before your start your computer turned on and turned off after your computer has been shut down. This allows your BIOS correctly enumerate the PXI card, which should hopefully avoid these mistakes in the future.

  • Drive confidence test indicates failure error that 00f0 1332 IRQ was not defined in time

In my test of confidence in Sata Drive in the diagnosis, he said:

26573416: interrupt request (IRQ) has not been set at the time.

Can you please tell me what that is and if I can fix it or not.

This didn't happen until I downloaded the upgrade for windows 7.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Hello Terri,

Thanks for posting your question on the Microsoft community.

Thank you for details on the issue.

This problem may occur because of the presence of errors on the hard drive.

I suggest to run the disk check and see if it helps. Please follow these steps:

    a. Click Start and type cmd in the start search box.

    b. right click on cmd in the search results, then click on run as administrator.

    c. type the following command at the command prompt and press ENTER.

    Chkdsk /f /r

Note: When running chkdsk on the drive hard if bad sectors are found on the disk hard when chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all available on which data can be lost.

Where /f fixes errors on the disk and /r locates bad sectors and recovers readable information.

    For reference:
Run Check Disk from a command line to check and fix disk errors

    I hope this information helps.

Please let us know if you need more help.

  • Drive test hard failure UOEHU2-6LO6M9-MFGJW1-60BUO3 of the suggestions

Don't know much about computers and got this message maybe IE lightning surge

    Hello

The error code will be a Smart failure or disk Self Test - in both cases, this would indicate that hard is defective and must be replaced.

If your laptop is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange for the disk replaced - you can check the status of your warranty here.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

If you are out of warranty and would like a guide to replacing the hard drive yourself, please let me know - include the full model number and the laptop Nr - see here for an explanation.

  • DR tests when Source VM under tension

I just started watching in vSphere replication as a DR solution for some servers.  We must be able to test the recovery of these virtual machines in our exercises in DR.  All our guests are controlled by a single server vCenter and a host is attached to a remote subnet where we can find VMs for stable DR.  The same host can be fixed to the subnets of production for a true DR scenario.

The problem seems to be that if I go with vSphere replication as a solution I am not able to test it in our environment, from what I read in this guide:

    http://www.VMware.com/files/PDF/Techpaper/introduction-to-vSphere-replication.PDF

It is said: "the replica cannot be turned on and retrieved if the original virtual machine is always available and is himself always.

under tension. To continue, the master copy of the virtual machine must be inaccessible by vCenter Server or

    off the power.

Unless I'm misunderstanding, because the vCenter server will be aware of the prod VM as well as the target, it I cannot start to the top of the target (DR VM) to test.  If this is true, how other people test recoveries?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Please see the next section in the official documentation - http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-55/topic/com.vmware.vsphere.replication_admin.doc/GUID-94162EDE-155F-4481-9DB0-F580FCF743FB.html

There is option (check box in the user interface) to not replicate the last changes of the source site. Likewise, if the source of the virtual machine is always on, only warning and Recovery Wizard allows you to continue.

This option is also present in VR 5.1.0.1 and 5.1.1 VR. Perhaps the above-mentioned guide missed to mention.

If you use SRM on top of VR, test failover and the cleaning test are standard operations for Recovery Plans.

If you use VR without SRM, currently, there is no failover/test explicit test cleanup, but to test, need you:

    1 perform a recovery.

    2. stop the replication - to remove from the VR UI.

    3. check that the recovered virtual machine is ok.

4 turning the recovered virtual machine off and cancel the registration of the server vCenter target inventory, but keep the disks.

    5. set up replication again and that it points to the already existing disks in data warehouses target. It will be used as original copies and only changed blocks are transferred. Checksum is calculated to find the initial differences between the discs.

  • Does vMotion allows to automatically shutdown (startup) hosts when a farm is not stressed (overloaded)?

    Dear reader,

I was wondering if a VMWare product (vMotion, vSphere, options etc.) allows to:

    • automatically move VMS between hosts to allow efficiency more host
    • automatically shut down the hosts not used (to reduce the electricity bill)
    • automatically power on a host when those already begun guests reach a load limit
    • automatically move VMS between hosts to allow for more host availability

Thanks for reading in any case.

    Best regards

Welcome to the community - what you describe is VMware Distributed Power Management (DPM) - which is a characteristic of the DRS uses vMotion to move the virtual machine to a host when there is an excess capacity and power down the host and bring it wen comes back on line capacity is necessary.

  • shutdown VMs on vmotion

    Hi, I have a question.

Let's say I have two servers ESX 4.0 on one site. The first server is fully loaded with test vm that are always up and running, the other ESX Server has production vm only and is also fully charged.

Now, it would be possible when the production server fails, vmotion machines to test ESX server and automaticly the test vm stop in order to create a sufficient capacity for production vm? Or is it only possible with a charge of 50% / 50% on each server?

    Thanks in advance!

Yes in this case DRS will be very good for you.

  • How can I side load my new application to test when she has the same product ID? I'll go Pro Enterprise?

I created a 'new' (company level) application and downloaded the file API. I opened iTunes and the app in the apps folder, then plugged my iPad and clicked on sync. It appears in the kiosks but grayed out and as an icon of the application. This app has the exact product ID as our PRO version. This app the company will replace our Pro app. What I'm most looking or missing? I've been watching the accompanying Adobe edition for iPad and iTunes connect guide... It is not this scenario in any of the documents.

    Melissa

If it does not appear greyed out which means the mobileprovision file you used to make the app has no UDID of your device inside. Make sure that the device ID is in the mobileprovision file and you are using the correct mobileprovision file, and then try again.
