  • iMac 2012 - sierra installation failed, caught in the loop, please help

    Hey everybody.

    That's what I have:

iMac 27 "mid-2011. He had on El Capitan.

This iMac contains two hard drives and drive superdrive.

A disc is 256 GB SSD and the other a regular 2 TB internal HARD drive.

As SSD is faster that I keep my OS X and programs on this SSD drive, all the other stuff like photos, music, documents, are put on the classic 2 TB HDD.

    This is what happened:

    Attempt of I:

Everything was going well until the installer has discovered that the SSD did not have a sufficient space to install. I quit the installer, the option pop up, I called "Startup Volume" has chosen my SSD and restarted it. Has been 2 attempts, if I'm not wrong, but worked. I killed and moved the files, I think now would be enough disk space on my SSD tried the Sierra ad install again.

    --> Attempt II:

This time Sierra Installer arrived at the stage language choose where he welcomed and asked to choose the language. The next screen it tells me once again: not enough space, the bigger internal drive offers enough, but I don't want that. So, I tried the same exit to leave the program and launch then boot Volume installation...

    ... that in trouble:

My SSD drive now no longer appears in this window of the boot Volume.

When you try to access the boot Volume it will skip in the app language choose, sometimes shows this window choice animation multilingual, sometimes simply stays gray but will show when moving the mouse upwards arrow to the top of the screen, choose language drops in when I try to open the boot Volume after leaving the installation program. In addition, the language choice (can not be exited by cmd Q is said by the way) seems to open before the boot app Volume and the boot volume app does not appear my drive more-> Catastropheeeeee!

Also option to restart regular off the menu above will not help. After about half to the top of the boot of the SIERRA Installer keeps new hindsight. No chance to reboot to my previous El Capitan based OSX. I am bound to this loop.

Is turned off, wait and switch back to does not help, even in a loop.

Then I tried also open disk utility, I also have an external time machine backup drive connected. Tried this way to restore my SSD of time machine, which fails on every attempt.

    I'm totally caught up.

    Help, please!

    just in case.

    I did the job.

Launched my iMac in disc mode on my mac pro book. A few items to the disc hard iMac deleted, then restarted, macos sierra resumed and concluded correctly, in other words: all and working again!

Even a message to Apple to look bad when insufficient disk space is detected, see my first post, thanks.

    Best regards

  • Installation DVD does not recognize my internal HD on a 2008 iMac

I'm looking for suggestions here.  My 94 year old mother has used the iMac 2008 8.1 for internet e-mail.  We needed to upgrade its OS X 10.5 to be able to upgrade to a new version of safari to access some banking sites.  I upgraded the memory.  Sister has an iMac with OS X 10.6.2 Installation/restore dvd 2010.  I went to update.  I have caused the initial problem because after reading info seemed I could create a second partition on the hard drive of 250 GB and use Time Machine to back up before preceding.  See not all the warnings on the addition of the partition. (Yes, if I had not forgotten my external hard drive I should not try that, but I forgot it.)  Things seemed to make the partition, but time machine bogged down and hung up.  After trying many things, I found myself deleting and resetting on the internal extended (journaled) using HD, recreating a single partition using the guidelines GUID, thinking that I could just do a clean reinstall.  BUT, while I can check/fix delete etc the internal disk utility when HD started from my external hard drive so I boot from the OS install DVD it does not recognize the internal HD.   ? ? ?   Gives cannot update this post Mac.  If I run the Setup from the beginning of the disk upward once again, no offers to go to in the installation program.  I can access everything in THE RUNOFF when the post boot drive.

Why THE works on the internal HD of the post start up (which was made with the 10.6.2 installation DVD), but not when started to leave the DVD left me puzzled. The DVD is not just see the it.  When it is started from the DVD with the external drive, he sees very well.   You are looking for ideas, thank you in advance.  By the Way the machine had no problem before starting this :) live and learn!

If I understand what you were doing, you tried to use a Mac installation disc and to update another Mac? Is this correct?

If I am not mistaken, which simply does not work. The installation provided with Mac discs won't work on another Mac, the original installation discs are machine-specific.

  • Error "Installation package could not be opened" when tried to install Age of Empires 3

Original title: installation package could not be opened

  • Cannot activate XP Repair, installation ID does not work on the phone

Hi all, I recently had to run a repair of Windows XP Edition family due to a driver issue and finally managed to return to the start screen and try to log in, but it wont let me connect you without activation (I suppose some confusion because it is installed on my computer for more than 30 days, but the repair made me have to reactivate).  So, I tried to start safe mode and was able to connect here in the version without networking.  Unfortunately, when I try to activate by phone (no network connection, the default ethernet driver was the cause of all this to start), the automated thing will not take the installation ID that is displayed in the activation page.  I know that I have a valid product key and the original disk, as I used it a year ago to re - install on a new hard drive, but I have no way to actually enter the product key!

Assumptions on how I can try to work around this problem for long enough to activate online (I use a USB wireless, but the computer must be started in order to establish the connection), or why the crazy long installation ID does not work?

    Thank you very much
    Eric

Please someone help! I really hate, can.someone please help... also its windows XP pro...

    Thank you Kara

Most recently produced Dell computers include a built-in method to restore the computer to its "fresh coming from the factory" State.

Doing so, of course, erase everything now on the computer, including any documents that you may have created since you guessed it and also any software that has been added by the previous owner (that is, not your computer when it came from Dell).  After erasing, Windows will be re-installed, as well as all the stuff 'free' than Dell initially loaded on the computer (you'll want to get rid of most of it).

You will need to update the computer after you have reinstalled Windows... but there are a lot of people here who can guide you in this process.

Assuming that some versions of Windows XP has been installed by the factory, you should be aware that, as of April 8, 2014, Microsoft will support is Windows XP.  This does not mean that computers with Windows XP stops working, but this does not mean they will become increasingly vulnerable to malware.

According to you how technically adventurous, you can ask for help in installing Linux - which is a free operating system.  These days, you can install the versions of Linux that are quite "Windows-like" - and most of the facilities include a free "productivity suite", which is compatible with Microsoft Office file formats.

Please answer the following three questions:

What is the number of number of Service Dell computer 'new to you?  See this for help--> http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/en/identifyyoursystem?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=hea&DoNotRedirect=y

Exactly what do you mean by "locked out of installation start?  The body of your question only mentions the Safe Mode.  What do you do to get into the 'boot setup' and what happens?

    Hi the prey,

    ·         What is the brand and model of the computer?

You should check the settings of the computer BIOS (Basic Input\Output System) to boot from the CD/DVD. Check the manual or the support of the computer Web site for the same.

Note: Be careful when you change the BIOS settings. The BIOS interface is designed for advanced users, and it is possible to change a setting that can prevent your computer from starting properly.

I try to install Java 6 update 18 and get the error message:

"This installation package could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package. »

I uninstalled Mcafee, spybot, and ad-aware.  I also disabled all the security of vista and UAC.  The only account on my computer's administrator.

I followed some suggestions on this site and made a run and type msiexec / unregister, and then run and typing msiexec/regserver and I still get the same error.

I also tried to run the program as administrator and with UAC turned back does not.  I tried to download Windows install 4.5 for x 86 but it tells me that this update is not compatible with my vista installation.  I am running vista Home premium 32-bit, so I don't know why I get this error.

I also have service pack 2 installed.

I'm completely lost on why this is happening.  This situation of not being able to install Java also applies to a few other programs as well, but not all of them.  I don't remember witch ones they are, but Java is my main concern at the moment and I feel that if this is fixed, other programs will install as well.

I would apprectiate very any help on this.

UPDATE: I also tried Run and type in services.msc and found windows install and changed manual automatic and started the service.
    It didn't work either. :-(

    This problem is now solved!

It seems that the "Run as Administrator" command gives you administrative privileges only, and they are not sufficient to install Java (and OpenOffice, by association) and other programs as well. To work around this problem, you must actually you as an administrator. Open a command prompt with admin rights by clicking Start, run, type cmd in the search/run box and pressing CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER. At the prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

Then disconnect from your regular account and record as an administrator, you should be able to install the program. When you are finished, open a session to your regular account and, for security reasons, disabling the account administrator for assistance:

NET user administrator / active: No.

Wallah, its done and everything works.
